RMS Mauretania - New last voyage footage
The Mauretania, queen of the Atlantic from November 1907 to April 1935, had to believe she had to make an end to her career. In July 1935, when she sailed away to the breakers yard, British Movietone News recorded the last pictures of this famous ship. Thanks to British Movietone News

The Streets of Nouadhibou, Cape Blanc, Mauretania
Filmed from the car leaving the centre of Nouadhibou due North. Nouadhibou (Arabic: نواذيبو; formerly Port-Étienne; pop. ca. 90000) is the second largest city in Mauritania and serves as the country's commercial center. It is situated on a 40-mile peninsula or headland called Ras Nouadhibou, Cap Blanc, or Cabo Blanco, of which the western side, with the city of Lagouira, is part of Western Sahara. Nouadhibou is less than a mile from the border. The city is divided into four major areas: the city centre, including the airport, Numerowatt to the north, the main residential area, Cansado to the south, a dormitory town for Port Minéralier, in the far south, from which iron ore mined in Zouerat is exported. Attractions in Nouadibou include the Table Remarquable, several markets, a ships' graveyard and Mediterranean monk seals. The major economic activity is fishing; however, the largest industry is processing iron ore transported by train from the interior mining towns of Zouérat and Fdérik. These freight trains can be as much as 3 km long, reputedly the longest in the world. The railway also carries passengers and calls at Choum. On June 30th, 1973 an aerobee rocket was launched there for solar research at the second-longest solar eclipse in 20th century From February 2006 onwards Nouadhibou has become the departure point for African migrants trying to reach the Canary Islands. This extremely dangerous route to reach the European Union has become popular as a result of ...

RMS Mauretania (1907) Cunard Line Finest
RMS Mauretania (1907) was a Trans-Atlantic ship from 1907 to 1934. The grand old ship sailed for her maiden trip in November 1907, during the World War 1 she did service as a hospital and transport ship. In 1931 she was painted white to continue her service with her sister on the old route. In 1934 she was withdrawn from service, she wasn't needed anymore. This was to complete the Queen Mary 1 ship. She could have been saved in 1935, the president Roosevelt traveled aboard her in the 1920's and said she wasn't worth to be scrapped. In her last months, Mauretania wasn't purchased by a new owner. It's sad that she had to be broken up, at all. The Olympic was indeed purchased by someone, but of some problems the owner had to re-sold it to an breakers yard. It's tragic that this beautiful liners aren't there anymore.

RMS Olympic - The Magnificent Ship
RMS Olympic was one of the most beautiful ocean liners that ever sailed the seas. She was built in 1908, launched on 20 October 1910 and brought thousands of soldiers into safety in the First World War. She is the only remaining vessel that sank a U-boat 103 from Germany during the war. Her come back after the war, earned her the nickname "The Old Reliable" by many people. The 1920's was the biggest adventure time for Olympic, during the great depression of 1929 it was clear that Olympic didn't had a much longer career... in 1935 she was sold for scrap. There was much critic about scrapping the Mauretania and Olympic. Even president Roosevelt in 1935 wrote a message to Cunard White Star Line to save the Mauretania and Olympic. In 1937, her empty hull was demolished in Scotland. Olympic sailed since then off into History.

RMS Mauretania SHIP WHISTLE
Okay, so a while back I put up a joke video of the Titanic whistles being sounded (I was nice enough to put the real thing at the end of the video, though). STILL, people were ingrates about it and sent me nasty messages. So I've decided to make amends and upload (for once) something that is what it says it is : *drum roll* the actual whistles from that grand old lady of the ocean! This sound was recorded many years after the ship itself got the big finger, of course. The whistles were used at a factory of some description, before being obtained by a whistle collector. I'm putting this on Youtube because it's not up already and because ship whistles crack me up. BOOOO, BOOOO, HOOOT HOOOOOT!!!! Hahaha. I hope that the owner of this sound sees this, and in a fit of rage, decides to go one better and record an actual video of the whistle in use. Cheerio!
