Scary speech by gentleman with a "masters degree in communication"
Ohio councilman Phil Davison screams and shoots eye daggers at the people he hopes will vote for him to be Stark County Treasurer. The best part is the way he frequently pauses his artificial anger to read his script. The college that gave him a "masters degree in communication" ought to be stripped of its accreditation.

Ask Dr Science 4 Questions
Ask Dr. Science is a daily humorous radio sketch produced by the comedy troupe Duck's Breath Mystery Theatre. It is broadcast on many public radio stations, using a format that mixes elements of a commercial bumper and a public service announcement. A concerned citizen asks a question, which is answered by an expert, "Dr. Science." Not surprisingly, the questions are never answered correctly, and often are little more than a launching point for a non sequitur monologue from Dr. Science. The show's motto is "He knows more than you do." The sketch always concludes with the disclaimer that he is "not a real doctor," although Dr. Science insists he has "a Masters Degree... in science!"

What is Chemical Engineering
One of the oldest departments of Newark College of Engineering, the Otto H. York Department of Chemical, Biological and Pharmaceutical Engineering awarded its first three baccalaureate degrees in 1923. Master's degrees were added after World War II, as returning veterans swelled the college's enrollment as well as the engineering workforce. The doctoral degree program was added in the late 50s, and the first PhD was awarded in 1964. An MS in Pharmaceutical Engineering program was established in 2004. From its earliest days, the department incorporated real-world work experience into the curriculum through cooperative education with area companies. The department's faculty has also developed research partnerships with industry and government. Chemical engineering alumni hold leading positions in business, law, research and academe. Today the department has an enrollment of 132 undergraduates majoring in chemical engineering, and more than 50 pursuing graduate studies. Last year, NJIT awarded 20 bachelor's degrees in chemical engineering, 13 master's degrees, and three PhDs. Chemical engineering currently enrolls the largest percentage of female students of any department in Newark College of Engineering -- 41 percent of the department's students are women. In 2002, the department was renamed to honor Otto H. York, chemical engineer, entrepreneur and philanthropist, who is a long-time benefactor of the university. York has pledged $1 million to the department to establish ...

2011 Bulding Bridges - Keynote
Dr. Joy DeGruy (Leary) is a nationally and internationally renowned researcher, educator, author, and presenter. Dr. Joy, as most know her, is an ambassador for healing and a voice for those who've struggled in search of the past, and continue to struggle through the present. Dr. DeGruy holds a bachelor of science degree in communications, a master's degree in social work, a master's degree in psychology, and a Ph.D. in social work research. She is an assistant professor at Portland State University. She has written many articles and books, including Post-Traumatic Slave Syndrome, which is the basis for her speech today. Her work suggests that centuries of slavery followed by systemic racism and oppression have resulted in multigenerational adaptive behaviors, some of which have been positive and reflective of resilience, and others that are detrimental and destructive. "Healing must occur on multiple levels, because the injury occurred on multiple levels. The Building Bridges Conference, is a student-initiated, student-led diversity conference dedicated to addressing today's pressing global and social issues. The conference series aims to increase awareness and action through inspirational speakers supplemented by interactive workshops and action steps. This year's conference, I'm Not For Sale: Slavery Past and Present, will provide a rewarding opportunity to engage in important dialogue regarding slavery—from the historical slave trade to today's modern society.
