George McKinley Treadwell (December 21 or 23, 1918 or 1919 in New Rochelle, New York – May 14, 1967 in New York City) was an American jazz trumpeter and the manager of the Drifters.
Treadwell played in the house band at Monroe's in Harlem in 1941–1942, then worked with Benny Carter later in 1942 in Florida. Following stints with Ace Harris's Sunset Royals and Tiny Bradshaw, Treadwell worked with Cootie Williams (1943–1946) and J.C. Heard (1946–1947). As a member of Heard's ensemble, he accompanied Etta Jones and Sarah Vaughan, whom he married in 1947. He also recorded with Dicky Wells and Ethel Waters in 1946.
Treadwell quit playing late in the 1940s to work as Vaughan's manager, and continued in this capacity after their divorce in 1957. He also managed the Drifters and Ruth Brown and did artists and repertoire (A&R) work in the 1950s. After 1959 Treadwell also worked as a songwriter.

Sarah Lois Vaughan (March 27, 1924 – April 3, 1990) was an American jazz singer, described by music critic Scott Yanow as having "one of the most wondrous voices of the 20th century."
Nicknamed "Sassy", "The Divine One" and "Sailor" (for her salty speech), Sarah Vaughan was a Grammy Award winner. The National Endowment for the Arts bestowed upon her its "highest honor in jazz", the NEA Jazz Masters Award, in 1989.
Sarah Vaughan's father, Asbury "Jake" Vaughan, was a carpenter by trade and played guitar and piano. Her mother, Ada Vaughan, was a laundress and sang in the church choir. Jake and Ada Vaughan had migrated to Newark from Virginia during the First World War. Sarah was their only biological child, although in the 1960s they adopted Donna, the child of a woman who traveled on the road with Sarah Vaughan.
The Vaughans lived in a house on Brunswick Street, in Newark, New Jersey, for Sarah's entire childhood. Jake Vaughan was deeply religious and the family was very active in the New Mount Zion Baptist Church at 186 Thomas Street. Sarah began piano lessons at the age of seven, sang in the church choir and occasionally played piano for rehearsals and services.
Columbia Records is an American recording label, under the ownership of Sony Music Entertainment. It was founded in 1887, evolving from an earlier enterprise, the American Graphophone Company—successor to the Volta Graphophone Company. Columbia is the oldest surviving brand name in recorded sound, being the second major record company to produce recorded records. Columbia Records went on to release records by an array of notable singers, instrumentalists, and bands. From 1961 to 1990, its recordings were released outside the U.S. and Canada on the CBS Records label (for Columbia Broadcasting System, its parent from 1938 to 1988) before adopting the Columbia name in most of the world. It is one of Sony Music's three flagship record labels with the others being RCA Records and Epic Records.
Until 1989, Columbia Records had no connection to Columbia Pictures, which used various other names for record labels they owned, including Colpix, Colgems, Bell and later Arista; rather, as above, it was connected to CBS, which stood for Columbia Broadcasting System, a broadcasting media company which had purchased Columbia Records in the late 1930s, and which had been co-founded in 1927 by Columbia Records itself. Though Arista was sold to BMG, it would later become a sister label to Columbia Records through the mutual connection to Sony Music; both are connected to Columbia Pictures through Sony Corporation of America, worldwide parent of both the music and motion picture arms of Sony.
Sarah or Sara (/ˈsɛərə/;Hebrew: שָׂרָה, Modern Sara, Tiberian Śārā ISO 259-3 Śarra; Latin: Sara; Arabic: سارا or سارة Sāra;) was the wife and half–sister of Abraham and the mother of Isaac as described in the Hebrew Bible and the Quran. Her name was originally Sarai. According to Genesis 17:15, God changed her name to Sarah as part of a covenant after Hagar bore Abraham his first son, Ishmael.
The Hebrew name Sarah indicates a woman of high rank and is translated as "princess" or "noblewoman".
Sarah was the wife of Abraham, as well as being his half-sister, the daughter of his father Terah. Sarah was approximately ten years younger than her husband.
She was considered beautiful to the point that Abraham feared that when they were near more powerful rulers she would be taken away and given to another man. Twice he purposely identified her as being only his sister so that he would be "treated well" for her sake. No reason is given why Sarah remained barren (childless) for a long period of time. She was originally called "Sarai", which is translated "my princess". Later she was called "Sarah", i.e., "princess".

"East of the Sun (and West of the Moon)" is a popular song written by Brooks Bowman, an undergraduate member of Princeton University's Class of 1936, for the 1934 production of the Princeton Triangle Club's production of Stags at Bay. It was published in 1934 and soon became a signature song of the Princeton Nassoons, Princeton University's oldest a cappella group. "East of the Sun" was first recorded by Hal Kemp for Brunswick Records on Dec. 1, 1934. Soon after their founding in the late 1930s, the Princeton Nassoons adopted an arrangement as one of their signature pieces, and have recorded it on many albums including one as recently as 2010. Since the 1950s the song has become a popular staple of many jazz musicians. Sarah's accompanied by George Treadwell and His All-Stars, Miles Dav...

"Shulie-A-Bop" is a 1954 song written by Sarah's first husband George Treadwell with scat "lyrics" later added by the great singer herself. "Shulie-A-Bop" is a charming, up-tempo swinger with which Sarah introduces her band both in concert and, uniquely, on record. The now famous moment where Sarah proclaims "Roy... Haynes" between two of the drummer's breaks is perhaps what's best remembered about this track, but everyone's performance is top-notch. Haynes's brush groove is deep, his comping ideas are playful, and Sarah Vaughan's aggressive scatting is an example of a tremendous instrumental solo. Sarah's accompanied by Leader/Arranger: Ernie Wilkins, Clifford Brown (trumpet), Herbie Mann (flute), Paul Quinichette (tenor), John Malachi (piano), Joe Benjamin (bass), and Roy Haynes (drums...

Charlie Thomas sang with The Five Crowns. They became the "new" Drifters that George Treadwell brought in to take the place of the recently terminated Drifters. On Atlantic Records they first hit with "There Goes My Baby" in 1959. When Ben E. King left in 1961, Charlie sang lead on "Sweets For My Sweets" and "When My Little Girl Is Smiling". Charlie sang on more Drifters' songs than any other singer. He is still going strong and singing some of the greatest music ever recorded in the golden age of rock 'n' roll. This video is a documentary of my Journey being diagnosed with a Glioblastoma.
Grizzly Man chronicles the life and death of bear enthusiast Timothy Treadwell. The film includes some of Treadwell's own footage of his interactions with grizzly bears before 2003, and of interviews with people who knew, or were involved with Treadwell, as well as professionals dealing with wild bears. The devoted conservationist with a passion for adventure, Timothy believed he had bridged the gap between human and beast. When one of the bears he loved and protected tragically turns on him, the footage he shot serves as a window into our understanding of nature and its grim realities.

"Machinal" is a beautiful, dark exploration of the human condition and its never-ending search for happiness and fulfillment, as seen through the eyes of an ordinary young woman. Treadwell's ultimate objective for the play, carefully detailed in the script notes, was "to tell this story by showing the different phases of life that the woman comes into contact with, and in none of which she finds any place, or peace." The Young Woman's tragic life is presented in a somber, episodic format that echoes the Roman Catholic tradition of the Stations of the Cross. Each scene, or "episode," is given a title that reflects the social institutions that defined expectations for women's behavior at the time: To Business, At Home, Honeymoon, Maternal, Prohibited, Intimate, Domestic and The Law. Why are changes in the Earth’s Climate System in and across the Arctic important to the peoples of the Arctic and for the rest of the world? Warming in the Arctic is occurring at twice the rate elsewhere in the world. This is driving sweeping changes that will impact communities in the Arctic and all over the world. Scientist have documented that the sea ice has lost 80% of its mass, the permafrost is thawing as rates unseen for 100’s of thousands of years. The glaciers of Greenland are adding to sea level rise at unprecedented rates. Why it Matters to People in the Arctic and for the Rest of the World: First, Arctic communities are at the front lines of extreme weather events, facing collapsing infrastructure, threatened food security, and growing health concerns. Meanwhile, warming te...
