The Non-Commissioned Officers - "Ride" - Lake Fever Sessions
We were tasked with writting a song for MAKE-OUT with VIOLENCE that would kick off a whole montage of driving scenes. Chris Doyle, one of the film's directors wanted something that opens with a horn call and charging horses. Jordan showed him Adam Ant's "Stand and Deliver" (a favorite of ours since high school) and Chris said it was along the right idea so Jordan worked out the music for RIDE and I wrote the lyrics which further explore the movie's themes, mainly the deep confusion that comes from lying to yourself. -Eric Lehning brought to you by Lake Fever Productions and Tugboat Productions

Joint Reserve Officer Training Corps Commissioning Ceremony (2007)
Every year, over 2000 new Marine officers are commissioned, and 38000 recruits accepted and trained.[28] All new Marines, enlisted or officer, are recruited by the Marine Corps Recruiting Command.[100] Commissioned officers are commissioned mainly through one of three sources: Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps (NROTC), Officer Candidates School (OCS), or the United States Naval Academy (USNA). Following commissioning, all Marine commissioned officers, regardless of accession route or further training requirements, attend The Basic School (TBS) at Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia. At TBS, second lieutenants, warrant officers, and selected foreign officers learn the art of infantry and combined arms warfare.[18] Enlisted Marines attend recruit training, known as boot camp, at either Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego or Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island. Historically, the Mississippi River served as the dividing line which delineated who would be trained where, while more recently, a district system has ensured a more even distribution of male recruits between the two MCRD facilities. Females attend only the Parris Island depot as part of the segregated Fourth Recruit Training Battalion. All recruits must pass a fitness test to start training; those who fail receive individualized attention and training until the minimum standards are reached. Marine recruit training is the longest among the American military services; it is 12 weeks long, compared to the ...

Non-Commissioned Officers - "Turn Me Down and Fade Me Out" - Lake Fever Sessions NBN
From the Lake Fever Sessions Next Big Nashville 2009 Showcase Next Big Nashville is the local rock scenes equivalent of a high school prom. After (hopefully) getting a desirable date, everyone gets gussied up for a be-all-end-all ball. Artist passes are donned like corsages and spiked punch is widely abounding to dull the senses. Bands participate in hopes of getting laid, so to speak, by some facet of the music industry, but mostly end up hanging out with same clique they see daily in the schoolyard before going home with blue balls. If that isnt a microcosm of the music industry then I dont know what is. Its also a good weekend to party like a Viking and see all your friends bands play out over the course of 72 hours. THE INSPIRATION
The initial inspiration was to take graphic pixelated light sequencing and integrate it into a live-action modern dance piece. This ultimately translated into building a unique LED light grid that would serve as the primary light source for the talent below. Immediately, A narrative evolved: a creative soul searches for inspiration as he faces manifestations of his inner ghosts. The LED grid provided a captivating device to parallel the emotion while the dancers ultimately led the viewer through this unforgettable journey.
THE TREATMENT
The Creative Process: Our hero is going through an inner turmoil that manifests in a dramatic interaction with his demons and muses. This is ultimately a personification of the creative process - the dire search for inspiration and the clarity to propel. The three seductresses that descend upon him represent the various stages of his awakening. The first is doubt and indecision - represented by the REAPER. She challenges him and he is eventually is forced into submission as she envelopes him, enabling his insecurity. The second set of seductresses are twin GAZELLES who play a back and forth. They are the conflicting ideas that float in a the head of an artist as he tries to manifest his turmoil into inspired focus. The last seductress is the FIREBALL. She is the spark that lights the fire in the artist to create something beautiful. It is pure passion, a coming together of the artist and his muse.. Throughout this awakening process his clouded vision is purified by the lights above to usher in the physical and mental clarity of his inspired self.
THE LED GRID
LED Grid Build: Faced with the daunting task of building a unique LED light grid, the Black Swan team, along with lighting design team Embrace the Void, took to the skies in lifts to rig 169 LED lights to a grid. Every four to six bulbs were linked to a distro and decoder box that transmitted data to the LEDS corresponding the the lights.
Each Decoder needed to be properly linked, then run through a master box that was wired to an MBOX interface to run original LED sequences created by Munkowitz. The arduous process took two full days to wire properly and set up, but in the end was worth the effort.
LED Grid Illumination: The story, though abstract, is still an emotional one for our hero. In order to translate the movements of the dancers with the lights of the LED grid, original patterns were created by munko to parallel the movements. Over the course of weeks each individual light bulb was programmed, from color to luminosity, to create a visual tapestry that matched both the ebb and flow of the music.
Additionally, it added to the tension and release of the dancers and they explored the space and each other. Essentially LIGHT was the production design for our characters to explore, and their l

Flights of Genius by Stephen Powers
Ogilvy & Mather New York and Joshua Liner Gallery unveil a series of commissioned murals by celebrated artist Stephen Powers that reinterpret the words and quotes of agency founder David Ogilvy.
Power’s bold graphic style, reminiscent of vintage advertising illustrations puts a unique emphasis on famous Ogilvy sayings and transforms them into actionable words designed to inspire the viewer. Painted in bright colors on the North stairwell of the agency’s headquarters office, the murals run from the first to the 11th floor of the office building.
The murals are being unveiled to coincide with the 100th birthday of David Ogilvy, one of the most influential and important figures in modern advertising.

DIVERSIDAD : THE EXPERIENCE video music

Diversidad is the Spanish word for diversity. In case of the same-titled musical project initiated by the European Music Office (EMO) and supported by the European Commission, it’s not an empty phrase, but a way of living, thinking and – even more importantly – creating. To celebrate the diversity of urban music, styles and culture throughout Europe is the main aim of this ambitious artistic melting pot. In the spirit of cultural exchange, 14 different artists have come together in a recording studio in Brussels to combine their different vocal stylings over an uplifiting musical background provided by premier league beatmaker Spike Miller from France.
Spike Miller’s instrumental for Diversidad’s single, The eXperience, is a state-of-the-art production which can compete against any hit single on urban radio right now. The mixture of innovative drum programming, atmospheric synth chords and attacking strings is as multifaceted as the national and cultural backgrounds of the artists that are rapping and singing on top of it. In four minutes, the listener is carried from the smooth accentuation of Spanish or Swedish over the familiar sounds of English and French to the more harsh linguistics of German, Bosnian and Croatian. »Different rivers flow together«, sings Freetown-born, but Cologne-based artist Mariama in a catchy hook that resembles current R&B; club smashers while still sounding characteristic and recognizable.
The song is the perfect summer anthem for open-minded hip-hop lovers all over Europe. Even if you don’t understand every single word or line, you are immediately captured by the transnational vibe on this superb musical piece which stands out clearly from the boring pabulum that mainstream media and music television is trying to feed the masses. The vision of the project »Diversidad« is to actively overcome language barriers and cultural stereotypes and to be a stepping stone on a way to an exchange and unification of different urban music scenes in Europe. But despite all ideological superstructure, the main focus on this project is musical quality. Being the executive producers of the project, German hip-hop artist Curse and French beatmaker Spike Miller supervised the recording and made sure every single element fits in its predetermined place.
The eXperience is only the appetizer for a whole album that was recorded during two prolific weeks in the spring of 2010 that the artists spent in a recording studio in Brussels, Belgium. 20 different artists from 12 different countries speaking 8 different languages came together to create a masterpiece that is destined to be an integral part in the Diversidad movement. The music on the album sounds as diverse as the artists involved in its creation: There's straight-forward hip-hop songs, uptempo club tracks, a reggae tune, an urban pop ballad, a song with a kind of freestyle character and lots of different musical influences to be heard. All in all, the album showcases that urban music is a melting pot of musical styles and not a prefabricated box with rigid boundaries.
The Diversidad program will also include a festival tour, a graphic art exhibition, a movie and a digital community. All of these different channels will be opened from 2010 to 2012, but right now you just need to open your ears and hearts for the first audible life sign of the »Diversidad, The eXperience«.
Artists performing on the single:
Featuring : Curse (Germany), Marcus Price (Sweden), Orelsan (France), Rival (Belgium), Luche from Co' Sang (Italy), Frenkie (Bosnia), GMBisGeryMendes (Netherlands), Valete (Portugal), Pitcho (Belgium), Nach (Spain), Mariama (Germany), MC Melodee from La Melodia (Netherlands), Remi and Shot from Elemental (Croatia),
Scratch by Cut Killer (France) / Produced by Spike Miller (France)

The Infinite Adventure Machine (prototype 01)
TIAM is a proposal for a computer program which generates fairy-tale plots.
While fully automatic story generation remains an unsolved problem for computer science, this project explores the links between imagination and computation. Tales and myths; the core narratives of human culture, have been transmitted for generations through various technologies and media. What new forms might they take through digital formats and Artificial Intelligence?
Based on the work of Vladimir Propp, who reduced the structure of russian folk-tales to 31 basic functions, TIAM aims to question the limitations and implications of attempts at programming language and narrative.
Because the program is unable to deliver a finished story, rather only a crude synopsis and illustrations, users have to improvise, filling the gaps with their imagination and making up for the technology's shortcomings.
