August 8th, 2009 - Typhoon Morakot, ChiaYi, Taiwan - Overtopping of Dam in South ChiaYi
August 8th, 2009 - Typhoon Morakot lashes out at ChiaYi, Taiwan and dumps over a meter of rain on my location, with over 2m in the mountains (and counting!). The dam on the south side of the city is overtopped and incredibly violent. A massive hydraulic jump is visible.

Alishan (阿里山) National Scenic Area, Chiayi,10/31/2011
Alishan is famous for its rich forests, cherry blossoms. Alishan is also well known for its sunrises, and on a suitable morning one can observe the sun come up on a sea of clouds in the area between Alishan and Yüshan. Alishan and Sun Moon Lake are, arguably, two of the most well-known scenic spots in Asia. The Alishan Forest Railway is one of the only three remaining alpine railways in the world. The area is popular among tourists and mountain climbers, and Alishan or Mount Ali itself has become one of the major landmarks associated with Taiwan. The area is also famous for its production of high mountain tea and wasabi.

Hosting City and Schools: Chia-Yi for 2011 International Exchange Programs
On July 8, 2010, AIFF project director, Mrs. Serena Huang, had a great pleasure to meet the principals of four major schools of Chia-Yi City who were invited to learn more about the International Exchange Program AIFF sponsors. During the meeting, videos of Valdosta City, Lowndes County Schools and Azalea International Folk Fair programs were played and viewed. After watching the DVD, the draft proposal of building an International Exchange Programs between Lowndes County School and Chia-Yi City Schools was discussed. All of the attending school principals have expressed great interest, and all agreed to join in the Exchange Programs as the hosting schools. They will all be prepared and look forward to welcoming teachers and students from Lowndes County School on June, 2011. "Now we welcome you to Chia-Yi City, located in the plains of southwestern Taiwan, whose people were selected by the World Magazine as the happiest citizens among all 25 counties and cities in Taiwan in past years. In this lovely city, you may be most impressed with its delightful Mayor, Mayor Huang, Ming-Hui. Her vision of "education above everything!!" is both intriguing and admirable." "No matter how hard our days, our children do not make sacrifices. No matter how poor the economy is, we do not allow a poor education. This is why I never hesitated to put 32% of our city's budget into education. Chia-Yi city's development must commit to taking education as our top priority. The competitiveness of ...

In loving memory of Glen Chia Yi Jin
Today, 2 Apr 2011, marks the 100th day of Glen's passing... This is a gift to him, as well as those who loved him and made a mark in his life. In this 8 min length photo montage, I have consolidated photos from his younger days, with his family and friends as a form of a momento to his friends, I have also used his demo of a song he personally sang and recorded. I hope those who loved him, will remember him as a talented young man who put all his friends and family before him. I hope this small gift will ease the pain of losing him and will keep him in your hearts forever.. (I have tried to include photos of most people and I will like to apologize if I have missed out some of you as I do not have many of his photos and mostly are actually from his FB acc).. Thank you for bringing him happiness and being part of his life while he was around. Sincerely to his friends from The Friends, " I believe going over was the best decision he made for himself and I believe a huge portion of his happy memories came from his short stay there. Thank you very much for being his friends" and to those who cried for him when he left, thank you for sending him on his last journey and bidding him your last goodbyes.." I hope he will be at peace now.. "Bro, we have always loved u and will always do.."

Dance Competition - Chia-Yi Yo-Yo Dance Team
Originally, the Chinese YoYo was made of wood or bamboo. Today, as a result of modern technology, most Chinese YoYos are composed of two durable plastic wheels and a joining steel rod and constructed precisely at the middle of the steel rod where the string pivots the YoYo. With the weight evenly distributed, the performer can execute really fantastic tricks. There are 3 boys in the team, Andy, Jack and Nick. In order to train together, they practice the Chinese YoYo every Sunday in the park of their Chia-Yi City. Mr. Huang, a professional Chinese YoYo instructor, teaches them. Please give your warmest round of applause to these three young men flying from Taiwan, the Chinese Yo-Yo dance.
