GP City Attorney sends Grower
By Jessica De Nova/KTVL.comGRANTS PASS, Ore.-A woman took her service dog to the Grants Pass Grower's Market and was escorted off the property by Grants Pass City Police.A YouTube video shows the market staff approach the woman about her dog.The issue then turns from the dog to it not being on the ground, on a leash. The woman offers the market staff woman to see her copy of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), but the market staff woman refuses and states, "I have seen all the ADA laws, I've seen the Oregon laws, put your dog on the ground or take him home." The owner points out the ADA does not require her dog be on the ground on a leash. She also brings her dog's good behavior to the staff woman's attention. She goes on to continue her shopping by telling market staff, "Well, I'm gonna continue my shopping. I hope you have a nice day." As the owner continues to try shopping, the staff gets in front of her. The owner asks for "no more problems" to which the market staff woman replies, "oh you are so pitiful I feel so sorry for you. You are somethin' major aren't you?" Finally, the woman is told by market staff she is not being kicked out because of her dog, but because of "attitude."Police arrive, escorting the woman off the property.

Angelenos Block Ban on Medical Marijuana Dispensaries...For Now
"We're letting the city council know that they can't just come in and trump the will of the people, and that when they do things that are very unpopular, the people can stand up and say stop," says Don Duncan, California director of Americans for Safe Access. The people did say stop this September in response to Los Angeles City Council's ban on medical marijuana dispensaries. Fifty thousand Angelenos signed a petition, successfully blocking the ban that was supposed to go into effect on Sept. 6, 2012. "After the city council adopted the ban, patients, collective operators and organized labor all got together and organized a referendum campaign," says Duncan, "we were able to actually block the implementation of the ban before it even took effect and so that's a tremendous victory for patients." Duncan sat down with ReasonTV's Tracy Oppenheimer to discuss the battle for medical marijuana, which he says isn't over yet. Voters have to either overturn the ban via the ballot box this spring, or come up with their own ordinance through the voter initiative process. Duncan notes that there is massive support for medical marijuana with 77 percent of Californians supporting the regulation and control of medical cannabis. Unfortunately this support may not be enough. "The city attorney is committed to the fact that medical cannabis is illegal, and so we expect some sort of enforcement action from the city attorney that will probably involve civil measures, but that's almost ...

LAPD Beat and Tased College Student Outside Hollywood Club
A Santa Monica college student is suing the Los Angeles Police Department for use of excessive force, alleging that officers beat and tased him despite the fact that he was unarmed and not resisting arrest. Aibuidefe Oghogho, who was 23 years old at the time, claims that a 2010 arrest outside a Hollywood nightclub over public consumption of alcohol escalated into a multiple-officer beatdown, reports CBS2. Security footage of the night in question, Oct. 22, shows that Oghogho was holding a beer bottle wrapped in a paper bag. He and his friend were crossing the street when an unmarked police car slowed to approach him. According to Oghogho, a police officer asked him what he was holding and then pushed him. Oghogho admits to CBS2 that he put a hand on the officer's chest to say, "stop." That's when things got violent. The video shows two police officers on top of Oghogho, using their fists and a baton to deliver multiple blows to his face and body. As the beating continues, more police officers arrive on the scene and surround Oghogho, watching as he is repeatedly slammed against a fence and the ground. "The whole time they're doing it, I hear one officer keep punching me in my face," recalled Oghogho. "He's telling me, 'stop resisting arrest, stop resisting arrest, stop resisting arrest.' And all I can say to myself is, 'I'm not resisting.' " The confrontation ended when an officer tased Oghogho. Oghogho's blood alcohol level, measured immediately after the incident, was ...

Traffic Stop 5/21/2012, patrol car dash cam, unedited copy
The following video is the dash cam footage related to a traffic stop on 5/21/2012. On 5/23/2012, a letter was sent to the Fayetteville Interim City Manager and the City Attorney from the driver. In the letter, the driver alleges that the officer used a racial slur while informing the driver that the tags cannot just be thrown on a vehicle. Dash cameras in the Police Cruisers record two channels of audio, one channel is for the microphone inside the patrol car and the second channel is for the microphone that the officer is wearing. This video has the audio from both channels. A second video is available for viewing that isedited and has only the channel of audio from the officer's microphone.

Lawyer Wife of Rape Suspect Covered for Him, Allegedly
"A prosecutor in the DA's office in Seattle, whose husband has been charged as a serial rapist, removed her husband's car from the scene of his arrest and didn't tell investigators about it for weeks, according to newly released court documents. Danford Grant, 47, a partner at the Seattle law firm Bailey Grant Onsager, is facing seven felony charges of rape and attempted rape in attacks involving Chinese immigrants at massage parlors. The father of three was arrested Sept. 24, but was released on $1 million bail last week and is on home detection with a monitoring bracelet. Grant's wife, Jennifer, is in the eye of the storm after court documents released Tuesday reveal behavior that has drawn the attention of authorities and prosecutors. Police say Jennifer Grant, a supervisor in the criminal division of the Seattle City Attorney's Office, moved her husband's car from the scene of his arrest at the Carnation Massage Clinic and parked it at a random location near her home. Grant didn't tell investigators about the car's location for weeks."* Cenk Uygur discuss the story of the husband and wife (both attorneys) involved in the crime. *Read more from Neal Karlinsky/ABC News and watch the original news coverage: abcnews.go.com Support The Young Turks by Subscribing bit.ly Support The Young Turks by Shopping bit.ly Like Us on Facebook: www.fb.com Follow Us on Twitter: bit.ly Buy TYT Merch: theyoungturks.spreadshirt.com Find out how to watch The Young Turks on Current by ...

DUI checkpoint refusal at suspicionless roadblock: DUI false arrest
Audio of a non-consenual police encounter at an illegal roadblock. The driver has previous experience with this police department contriving the smell of alcohol where none exists and expects them to again contrive suspicion of a crime if the window is down. The driver is carrying a full-size service pistol in an outside-the-pants holster on his right hip, as pictured. He also has a spare magazine in a holder on his left hip. None of these are concealed, as pictured. The driver keeps his hands on the steering wheel except to operate the window control, door lock, seatbelt lock, and to pick up the notebook from the passenger seat. Multiple digital recording devices capture events. In the driver's shirt pocket is an audio recorder, seized by the arresting officer @ 8:18. It was returned with other personal property upon release from jail. The notebook and the most obvious video camera were stolen. The driver was arresed for driving under the influence (NRS 484C.110) and possessing a firearm under the influence of alcohol (NRS 202.257) and transported to jail, where blood was forcibly taken from him. In the arrest report, multiple officers reported the sweet odor of alcoholic beverages and multiple officers reported the driver reached for his holstered handgun. The main actor reported the driver resisted arrest. The case officer recommended the driver be prosecuted for obstructing with a firearm. The district attorney declined to file any charges stemming from the police ...

Election Hangover Part II
The Alan Jackson campaign released a web ad response to Carmen Trutanich's candidacy for District Attorney. Since his decision to run, it is clear that Trutanich will be turning his attention away from his job as City Attorney to launch a campaign for higher office. Using a parody of the Hangover Part II movie trailer, the ad highlights Trutanich's broken promises and failed record since he was elected City Attorney. The spot is called "Election Hangover Part II."

Homelessness Is NOT a Crime, Mayor - Pensacola City Council COW 12 12 2011.wmv
Pensacola Mayor Ashton Hayward sent over 2 proposed changes to the city code that would expand anti-tent, anti-homeless and anti-Occupy enforcement to make it illegal for persons from camping on city property not covered by city parks and to prohibit activities like bathing, sleeping and shaving in public restrooms. New City Council President Sam Hall limited public debate on these two ordinances that were eventually tabled because the city attorney had not reviewed the ordinances before the mayor presented them to council.
