Martin Block Show with Ray Noble & Buddy Clark
Martin Block (February 3, 1903 -- September 18, 1967) born in Los Angeles, California, was an American disc jockey. Walter Winchell is said to have invented the term "disk jockey" as a means of describing Block's radio work. Ray Noble (17 December 1903 -- 3 April 1978) was an English bandleader, composer, arranger, radio comedian, and actor. Noble is known for composing such hits as "Cherokee", "I Hadn't Anyone Till You" and "The Very Thought Of You", as well as playing a radio comedian oppisite Charlie McCarthy and Mortimer Snerd (Edgar Bergen) and also Burns & Allen, and transferring that from radio to popular films. Buddy Clark (July 26, 1912 - October 1, 1949) was a popular American singer in the 1930s and 1940s. Clark was born Samuel Goldberg to Jewish parents in Dorchester, Massachusetts. He made his Big Band singing debut in 1934 with Benny Goodman on the Let's Dance radio program. In 1936 he started to perform on the show, Your Hit Parade, and lasted until 1938. In the mid-1930s he signed with Vocalion Records, having a top-20 hit with "Spring Is Here". He did not have another hit until the late 1940s, but continued recording, appearing in movies, and dubbing other actors' voices. In 1946 he signed with Columbia Records and scored his biggest hit with the song "Linda" recorded in November of that year, but hitting its peak in the following spring. Linda was written especially for the six-year-old daughter of a show business lawyer named Lee Eastman, whose client ...

Buddy Clark - You're breaking my heart
In all the history of the American music , there is two versions that I consider as the two best versions of all time. Number one, the Vic Damone's version and the other the Buddy Clark's version. Both charted as hit parade for the two of them and both released in 1949

Buddy Clark
Buddy Clark was by no means a jazz singer, but as a crooner of popular songs during the 1930s and 1940s, he was one of the best. Since he died early, October 1949, he is not as well known as other pop vocalists of the period. The song, "Moonlight Cocktail," is a standard by stride pianist Luckey Roberts, with lyrics by Kim Gannon. This SOUNDIE was produced in Los Angeles by Neil McGuire, an optical effects expert who uses those skills well in this film. The studio orchestra accompanying Clark is led by Hal Borne, who was Fred Astaire's rehearsal pianist for many years. Clark's girlfriend is portrayed by Dolly Mitchell, who also assists with a portion of the vocal. And there you have it, a wonderful pop vocal by one of the most underrated singers of the American Song Book.

Linda ~ Buddy Clark with Ray Noble's Orchestra 1946.wmv
LINDA by Buddy Clark with Ray Noble's Orchestra was recorded in November of 1946 on the Columbia Records label. Buddy Clark was born Samuel Goldberg on July 26, 1911 in Dorchester, Massachusetts. Buddy rated with the best of the crooners and singers of the 1940's. He was right at the top with names like: Dick Haymes, Bob Eberly, Frank Sinatra, Art Lund, & Harry Babbitt. However, fate stepped in and cut short the bright future of thirty eight year old Buddy Clark, when on October 1, 1949, the plane that he and five of his friends were traveling in, ran out of fuel and crashed in Los Angeles, CA.

Buddy Clark - For You
Buddy Clark singing For You. Buddy Clark was one of the most popular male vocalists of the 1930s and 1940s, a success on radio, in movies, and on record -- had he lived longer, in the estimation of pop music scholar John P. Cooper, Clark might easily have been a rival to Perry Como or Dean Martin in postwar America. A fixture on the airwaves for his first decade and a half as a singer, Clark didn't hit his commercial stride until the end of the 1940s, with more than a dozen hits in scarcely two years -- when his life was tragically cut short by a plane crash.

Linda 1947-Buddy Clark and Anita Gordon In Emulated Stereo.mp4
Here is the song "Linda" recorded in 1947 and featuring the voices of Buddy Clark and Anita Gordon. I tweaked the sound a bit in order to emulate stereo. I hope that you will find the result to your liking. Buddy's life was taken by a plane crash on October 2,1949. He was only 37 years of age.

1936 Ruby Newman & Buddy Clark - On Your Toes
Title song from the Rodgers & Hart musical that also introduced "There's A Small Hotel" "Slaughter On Tenth Avenue" and "Glad To Be Unhappy." Note that Buddy Clark gets no label credit as he remained a very busy, but largely anonymous, contributor to many band recordings during that period. 78rpm: Brunswick 7633 - On Your Toes (Rodgers-Hart) by Ruby Newman & His Orchestra, vocal by Buddy Clark. Recorded 3/11/36.
