Gary Gerould is an American sportscaster, best known as the radio voice of the NBA's Sacramento Kings since 1985 and as a motorsports reporter for ABC and ESPN.
Gerould was born in Midland, Michigan and got his start in broadcasting at the age of 15 on a local telegraph station. He later attended Anderson University in Indiana and upon graduation went to Chico, California work for KHSL Radio, later moving to KCRA-AM and KCRA TV, as a sports reporter before finally coming to NBC and ESPN, specializing in coverage of the motorsports. He also called play-by-play for NBC's NFL coverage in the early 1980s, and had the opportunity to cover the 1988 Summer Olympics for the network.
In 1985 as the Kansas City Kings moved to Sacramento, Gerould was tabbed as their radio play-by-play announcer. During the 2010-11 season, Gerould completed his 2,000 Kings broadcast, ranking fifth among active NBA announcers.
In the 1980s and 1990s, he also worked for the motorsports program American Sports Cavalcade.
The Sacramento Kings are an American professional basketball team based in Sacramento, California. The Kings compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the Western Conference Pacific Division. The Kings are the only team in the major professional North American sports leagues located in Sacramento; the team plays its home games at Sleep Train Arena.
The Kings are the oldest franchise in the NBA, and one of the oldest continuously operating professional basketball franchises in the nation. They originated in Rochester, New York as the Rochester Seagrams (a company team) in 1923 and joined the National Basketball League in 1945 as the "Rochester Royals". They jumped to the Basketball Association of America, forerunner of the NBA, in 1948. As the Royals, the team was often successful on the court, winning the NBA championship in 1951. However, they found it increasingly difficult to turn a profit in the comparatively small market of Rochester, and relocated to Cincinnati, Ohio in 1957, becoming the Cincinnati Royals. In 1972, the team relocated to Kansas City, Missouri, initially splitting their games between Kansas City and Omaha, Nebraska, and taking up the name Kansas City Kings. The team again failed to find success in that market, and moved to Sacramento in 1985.

He played collegiately at Moberly Area Community College and Kansas State University. He was a six-time NBA All-Star a five-time All-NBA Team member and a former NBA Rookie of the Year. In 976 NBA games, Richmond averaged 21.0 points per game and 3.5 assists per game. Richmond was voted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2014. His nicknames include "The Rock". His jersey No. 2 was retired in his honor by the Sacramento Kings, for whom he played seven seasons. He was on the cover of the video game NBA Live 97.
One of the most recognizable players in Kansas State history, Mitch Richmond was a two-year letterman for head coach Lon Kruger from 1986–88. He helped guide the Wildcats to a 45–20 (.692) record, including a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances and a trip to the 1988 NCAA Midwest Regional Final. His 1,327 points are the most by a player in a two-year career.

Sir Jackie on NBC? For that matter, Indycars on NBC? I guess I just didn't really notice back then. "The Indycars are on, time to throw in a tape!" Even Gary Gerould can't talk over a fly-over. Jet fighters are loud. Or was it the Snowbirds? Jet trainers are that loud, too. Anyone else miss beer & cigarette sponsorship? Yeah, I know smoking is a 'Bad Thing', and too much beer makes you fat & kills the liver..but it seems to me that most professional racing series' had much better/faster/cooler cars back when there was that much money flowing around. "Win on Sunday, sell on Monday.."? Bah. Run up front every weekend with the right paint on the car, and they'll buy Marlboros and Miller *every* day. Cool new C4 Corvette setting the pace. This is the NHRA Virginia Nationals from the Virginia Motorsports Park outside of Petersburg, VA off of I-85. I only have the first round of Top Fuel and some Funny Car rounds.
