Abertzale (Basque pronunciation: [aberts̻ale]) in the Basque language means "patriot", and it is mainly used to mean "Basque nationalist". It comes from the fusion of aberri(a) ("fatherland", a neologism created by Sabino Arana) with the suffix -(t)zale (someone who loves, is a friend of, has affection towards, or dedicates him- or herself to something).
Although the term is synonym of "patriot", its common use in Basque mainly refers to Basque nationalism, and this is the only specific meaning of this word in Spanish.[citation needed] The use of the term by members and sympathizers of Herri Batasuna, and the fact that the followers of the Basque Nationalist Party (Partido Nacionalista Vasco, PNV) call themselves jeltzales more than abertzales, has brought about a situation where the word is at times associated with that particular leftist current of Basque nationalism.
The Real Academia Española (RAE), the prescriptive body that oversees Spain's official dictionary of the Spanish language, recognized officially the adapted word "aberzale" (rather than "abertzale") as a Spanish-language word, with this narrower meaning. However, even in Spanish the original spelling "abertzale" retains greater currency, so the RAE substituted it in the 21st edition of their dictionary.
Arnaldo Otegi Mondragón (born 6 July 1958) is a Basque politician and spokesman for the outlawed abertzale Basque separatist party Batasuna. He was one of the key negotiators during the last unsuccessful peace talks in Loiola and Geneva, in 2006. He is one of the leading figures at Batasuna's change of extrategy and ETA's end. He now is in prison accused of trying to re-organize Batasuna.
Before joining politics he had been convicted of being an ETA member and taking part in several actions, amongst which was a kidnap attempt against the Basque entrepreneur Luis Abaitúa,. In the 1990s he started his political career and he quickly gaining prominence within Basque separatism and becoming the leader of Batasuna, after the whole National Committee of Herri Batasuna was arrested. However the party and the next created ones were declared illegal in 2003 due to its relationship with ETA. In June 2007 he was convicted of "praising terrorism" and was released from prison in August the following year. In October 2009 he was arrested for attempting to put Batasuna back together, and was given a ten year sentence.
Estacionada en el limbo
Me pierdo sin rumbo fijo
En estas cuatro paredes
Es que importa un carajo
Si el mundo se viene abajo
Si paso un dia sin verte
Y me parece que hago mal, oh si yeah
Cuando me quedo en casa
Viviendo todo un drama
¿Por qué no llamas?
Aburrida y sola, creo que te equivocas
Ehhh yah voy a salir ahora
Aburrida y sola, soy medio peligrosa
Ehhh yah voy a salir ahora
Si tu no vienes tu te lo pierdes
Si no me encuentras me fui de
cuerda
Y si yo salgo con otro chavo
y si me gusta será tu culpa
Oh si, yeah!
Me siento desconectada
Mientras navego en la nada
No se si mandarte al diablo
Y es que me pones de malas
cuando me dejas colgada
Mientras te sigo esperando
Y me parece que hago mal, oh si yeah
Cuando me quedo en casa
Viviendo todo un drama
¿Porque no llamas?
Aburrida y sola, creo que te equivocas
Ehhh yah voy a salir ahora
Aburrida y sola, soy medio peligrosa
Ehhh yah voy a salir ahora
Si tu no vienes tu te lo pierdes
Si no me encuentras me fui de cuerda
Y si yo salgo con otro chavo
y si me gusta será tu culpa
Oh si, yeah!
Y me parece que hago mal
Cuando me quedo en casa
Viviendo todo un drama
¿Por qué no llamas?
Aburrida y sola, creo que te equivocas
Ehhh yah voy a salir ahora
Aburrida y sola, soy medio peligrosa
Ehhh yah voy a salir ahora
Si tu no vienes tu te lo pierdes
Si no me encuentras me fui de cuerda
Y si yo salgo con otro chavo
y si me gusta será tu culpa
Oh si, yeah! será tu culpa
Aburrida y sola, creo que te equivocas
Ehhh yah voy a salir ahora
Aburrida y sola, soy medio peligrosa
