102.5 Clyde 1
102.5 Clyde 1 is a Scottish local radio station that serves Glasgow and West Central Scotland on FM, DAB and online. The station is owned & operated by Bauer Radio and forms part of Bauer's Place Network of stations.

Clyde 1 FM was born out of the compulsory transmission splitting enforced by the UK regulators in the 1990s, developing the FM frequency into Radio Clyde into a Top-40 format radio station.
The development of live-streaming and digital radio led to a widening of the station's potential audience through carriage on the station's website [2] and Score Digital's DAB multiplex in Glasgow.
The station's Freeview carriage came as a consequence of the closure of stable-mate 3C by the station's then-owners, and resulted in UK-wide coverage.
The station broadcasts contemporary music as well as live coverage of Glasgow's football teams and broad coverage of other sport.
The station broadcasts five syndicated programmes, the weekly chart The Big Top 40 Show, The Big Bad Saturday Show with Boogie & Dingo, In:demand dance with Krystle, Saturday Night with Krystle and Scotlands Hot 20 with Mark Martin from sister-station Forth One, as well as a simulcast of Saturday sports coverage with Clyde 2.

1152 Clyde 2
1152 Clyde 2 is a UK radio station that broadcasts to Glasgow and West Central Scotland. The station broadcasts contemporary easy listening music as well as specialist and sports programming, mainly football.
A new programming schedule was introduced on Monday 15 June 2009, consisting mostly of programming simulcast with Bauer's other AM stations in Scotland - Forth 2 from Edinburgh, Northsound 2 from Aberdeen, Tay AM from Dundee and West Sound from Ayr. Clyde 2 local programming is now restricted to breakfast shows, news bulletins, sports coverage and some specialist programming although the station also produces some networked output.

96.7 West FM
96.7 West FM is a local FM radio station for Ayrshire. The station broadcasts on 96.7, 97.5, 106.7 FM and on DAB Digital Radio, multiplex 11B. Based in Ayr with its transmitters in Darvel, East Ayrshire (96.7 and DAB), Girvan, South Ayrshire (97.5) and Toward Point, Argyll and Bute (106.7). The station is owned & operated by Bauer Radio and forms part of Bauer's Place Network of stations.
The station has had a reduction in local programming with the networking with other Scottish Bauer stations during the evening. The networked shows are broadcast from the Clyde 1 studios just outside Glasgow.

97.4 Rock FM
97.4 Rock FM is an Independent Local Radio station broadcasting to Lancashire, North West England and some parts of North Wales. Its output is mainly contemporary pop and current chart hits. The station is owned & operated by Bauer Radio and forms part of Bauer's Place Network of stations. The total survey area of the station for RAJAR is broadly defined as western, southern and central Lancashire including parts of Greater Manchester and Merseyside. But the station is audible on FM from Cumbria down into Wales and towards The West Midlands.
Rock FM (and its sister AM station Magic 999) broadcast from studios based at a converted church (St. Paul's) in Preston. The station can be received across most of north west England and North Wales. Rock FM consistently rates as the number one commercial radio station in its target service area by reach, share and hours. Over a quarter of all adults in its market listen every week.
In 1990, Red Rose Radio, which was transmitted on 97.4 MHz and 999 kHz, was split into two stations - Red Rose Rock FM using the FM frequency and Red Rose Gold on the medium wave frequency. The managing director was Dave Lincoln and at that time the station was owned by the Miss World Group, later known as TransWorld Communications (owned by Owen Oyston) and which subsequently became part of Bauer Radio (previously EMAP Radio).

CFM Radio
CFM Radio is an Independent Local Radio station broadcasting to Northern & Central Cumbria and the southern tip of Scotland, with transmitters in Carlisle, Penrith and West Cumbria. Its musical output is popular hits of all genres, with mostly today's hits being featured. The station is owned & operated by Bauer Radio and forms part of Bauer's Place Network of stations.
The station was launched by its original owners, Border Television at 8am on 14 April 1993 when Managing Director and Breakfast show host John Myers played "The Best" by Tina Turner as its first song.
Originally CFM only broadcast from their Caldbeck mast to Carlisle on 96.4 and Penrith, from on the top of Beacon Hill, on 102.5 In September 1995 they also started transmitting to West Cumbria from their transmitter at Broughton Moor, Frequencies for the West Coast are 102.2 (Workington) and 103.4 (Whitehaven).
In 2005 media giant Emap bought CFM and branded it as one of its Big City Network of stations. In 2008 Emap was bought by Bauer, who have retained ownership of the station.

In the early 7th century the Croats arrived in area of present-day Croatia. They organised the state into two dukedoms by the 9th century. Tomislav became the first king by 925 AD, elevating Croatia to the status of a kingdom. The Kingdom of Croatia retained its sovereignty for nearly two centuries, reaching its peak during the rule of Kings Peter Krešimir IV and Dmitar Zvonimir. Croatia entered a personal union with Hungary in 1102. In 1527, faced with Ottoman conquest the Croatian Parliament elected Ferdinand I of the House of Habsburg to the Croatian throne. In 1918, after World War I, Croatia was included in the short-lived State of Slovenes, Croats, and Serbs that declared independence from Austria–Hungary and co-founded the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. A Croatian state briefly existed during World War II as a fascist puppet state. After the war, Croatia became a founding member and a federal constituent of the Second Yugoslavia, a socialist state. In June 1991, Croatia declared independence, which came into effect on 8 October of the same year. The Croatian War of Independence was fought successfully during the four years following the declaration.

Czech Republic

The Czech state, formerly known as Bohemia, was formed in the late 9th century as a small duchy around Prague, at that time under dominance of the powerful Great Moravian Empire (which reached its greatest territorial extent during the reign of Svatopluk I from the House of Mojmír). After the fall of the Empire in 907, the centre of power was transferred from Moravia to Bohemia, under the Přemyslids. During the rule of Přemyslid dukes/kings and their successors, the Luxembourgs, the country reached its greatest territorial extent (13th–14th century). Life in the country was significantly affected by the Hussite wars, during which it faced economic embargo and crusades from all over Europe. Following the Battle of Mohács in 1526, the Crown of Bohemia was gradually integrated into the Habsburg monarchy as one of its three principal parts alongside the Archduchy of Austria and the Kingdom of Hungary. The Bohemian Revolt (1618–20) led to the further centralization of the monarchy including forced recatholization and Germanization. During radical reforms in the 18th century the Bohemian Crown was even de facto abolished (1749). In the 19th century the Czech lands became the industrial powerhouse of the monarchy and the core of the Republic of Czechoslovakia which was formed in 1918, following the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian empire after World War I.

A region named Germania, inhabited by several Germanic peoples, was documented before AD 100. During the Migration Period, the Germanic tribes expanded southward, and established successor kingdoms throughout much of Europe. Beginning in the 10th century, German territories formed a central part of the Holy Roman Empire. During the 16th century, northern German regions became the centre of the Protestant Reformation while southern and western parts remained dominated by Roman Catholic denominations, with the two factions clashing in the Thirty Years' War, marking the beginning of the Catholic–Protestant divide that has characterized German society ever since. Occupied during the Napoleonic Wars, the rise of Pan-Germanism inside the German Confederation resulted in the unification of most of the German states into the German Empire in 1871 which was Prussian dominated. After the German Revolution of 1918–1919 and the subsequent military surrender in World War I, the Empire was replaced by the Weimar Republic in 1918, and partitioned in the Treaty of Versailles. The Indonesian archipelago has been an important trade region since at least the 7th century, when Srivijaya and then later Majapahit traded with China and India. Local rulers gradually absorbed foreign cultural, religious and political models from the early centuries CE, and Hindu and Buddhist kingdoms flourished. Indonesian history has been influenced by foreign powers drawn to its natural resources. Muslim traders brought Islam, and European powers brought Christianity and fought one another to monopolize trade in the Spice Islands of Maluku during the Age of Discovery. Following three and a half centuries of Dutch colonialism, Indonesia secured its independence after World War II. Kiss 101
Kiss 101 was a radio station in Bristol broadcasting out to South Wales and South West England playing Hip Hop, dance music and R&B. It now forms part of a national Kiss station, which also includes Kiss 105-108 (East Anglia) and Kiss 100 (London) and is owned by Bauer Radio.
The station originally started broadcasting as a pirate radio station called For The People or FTP, which secured a legal licence to broadcast to the city of Bristol in 1990 on 97.2 MHz FM. However after only a year on air, it was acquired by the Chiltern Radio Group and was renamed Galaxy 97.2. Chiltern's Paul Chantler then became the station's programme director and chief executive.
On 4 September 1994, the group won the UK's first regional licence and Bristol's Galaxy 97.2 became Galaxy 101, broadcasting to an area stretching from Swansea in Wales through Bristol and south into Somerset on 101.0 MHz FM. Since reception quality of the new service was poor in central Bristol, the station was permitted by the Radio Authority to retain its 97.2 transmitter, which beforehand was considered an entirely separate licence.

The Latvians are a Baltic people, culturally related to the Lithuanians. Together with the Finno-Ugric Livs (or Livonians), the Latvians are the indigenous people of Latvia.Latvian is an Indo-European language and along with Lithuanian the only two surviving members of the Baltic branch. Indigenous minority languages are Latgalian and the nearly extinct Finno-Ugric Livonian language. In terms of geography, territory and population Latvia is the middle of three Baltic states: Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. Latvia and Estonia share a long common history: historical Livonia, times of German (Teutonic Order), Polish-Lithuanian, Swedish, Russian, Nazi German and Soviet rule, 13th century Christianization and 16th century Protestant Reformation. Malaysia

The capital city is Kuala Lumpur, while Putrajaya is the seat of the federal government. In 2010 the population exceeded 27.5 million, with over 20 million living on the Peninsula.
Malaysia has its origins in the Malay Kingdoms present in the area which, from the 18th century, became subject to the British Empire. The first British territories were known as the Straits Settlements, whose establishment was followed by the Malay kingdoms becoming British protectorates. The territories on Peninsular Malaysia were first unified as the Malayan Union in 1946. Malaya was restructured as the Federation of Malaya in 1948, and achieved independence on 31 August 1957. Malaya united with Sabah, Sarawak, and Singapore on 16 September 1963, with si being added to give the new country the name Malaysia. However, less than two years later in 1965, Singapore was expelled from the federation. Since independence, Malaysia has had one of the best economic records in Asia, with GDP growing an average 6.5% for almost 50 years. The economy has traditionally been fuelled by its natural resources, but is expanding in the sectors of science, tourism, commerce and medical tourism.

Unionists want Northern Ireland to remain as a part of the United Kingdom, and generally see themselves as British, while nationalists wish for it to be politically reunited with the rest of Ireland, independent of British rule, and generally see themselves as Irish. Additionally, people from both sides of the community may describe themselves as Northern Irish. Since 1998, most of the paramilitary groups involved in the Troubles have ceased their armed campaigns.

TFM Radio
TFM Radio is a Thornaby-on-Tees based Independent Local Radio station. Launched in June 1975 as Radio Tees, with the callsign "You've got a friend on 257" it was the first independent local radio station serving the area of the Tees Valley with parts of North Yorkshire and County Durham. The station currently broadcasts on 96.6 FM, DAB and online with DAB services provided by Bauer Digital. The station is owned and operated by Bauer Radio and forms part of Bauer's Place Network of stations.
For a short time, the radio station was part of the Newcastle upon Tyne based Metro Radio group, before being taken over by EMAP. After the Metro Radio group was taken over, TFM, along with the other sister stations, was integrated into EMAP's Big City Network, and renamed 96.6 TFM to express the FM frequency which the station is broadcast on. EMAP, a publicly listed plc's media and magazine arms were bought by Bauer Media, a privately owned German based family business in 2008. In July 2007, TFM was rebranded TFM Radio and re adopted the slogan 'Today's Favourite Music' which had first been used in the late 1990s.

The magazine began publication in 1985 in the United Kingdom under the name For Him and changed its title to FHM in 1994 when Emap Consumer Media bought the magazine, although the full For Him Magazine continues to be printed on the spine of each issue.
Circulation expanded to newsagents as a quarterly by the spring of 1987. It then went monthly and changed its name to FHM in 1994. It subsequently dominated the men's market and began to expand internationally.
FHM was sold as part of the publishing company sale, from EMAP to German company Bauer Media Group in February 2008.

Hilton was born in New York City, New York, to Kathy (née Avanzino), a socialite and actress, and Richard Hilton, a businessman. She is the oldest of four children: she has one sister, Nicholai Olivia "Nicky" Hilton (b. 1983), and two brothers, Barron Nicholas Hilton II (b. 1989) and Conrad Hughes Hilton III (b. 1994). Her paternal great-grandfather was Conrad Hilton, who founded the Hilton Hotels; he was of Norwegian and German ancestry.[8][9] She is a half-niece of two child stars of the 1970s, Kim and Kyle Richards.
She was raised Roman Catholic and still attends Mass.[10][11] Hilton moved between numerous exclusive homes in her youth, including a suite in the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in Manhattan, Beverly Hills, and the Hamptons. As a child she was good friends with other socialites, including Nicole Richie and Kim Kardashian.[12]
Growing up in Los Angeles, Hilton attended the Buckley School and the exclusive St. Paul the Apostle Church and School, where she graduated in 1995.[13] She then attended her freshman year of high school at the Marywood-Palm Valley School in Rancho Mirage, California from 1995–1996. Then in 1996, when Hilton was 14, her family moved to the East Coast.[14] In New York, she briefly attended Convent of the Sacred Heart (while Lady Gaga was a student there) in 1996 before transferring again to the Dwight School.[15][16] At 16, Hilton spent one year at the Provo Canyon School, a school for emotionally troubled teens.[17][18] She then attended the Canterbury Boarding School, in New Milford, Connecticut from the fall of 1998 to February 1999 for her junior year, where she was a member of the ice hockey team.[19] In February 1999, the month she turned 18, she was expelled from Canterbury for violating school rules.[16] After being expelled from Canterbury, she returned to the Dwight School before dropping out a few months later as a high school junior.[12] She later earned her GED.[12][20][21]

Hilton began modeling as a child, initially at charity events.[22] When she was 19, she signed with Donald Trump's modeling agency, T Management.[22] Hilton stated that while she "wanted to model," Trumb was wishing for have her at his agency, and after she signed she was "loving" the work.[22] Hilton has also worked with Ford Models in New York, Models 1 Agency in London, Nous Model Management in Los Angeles, and Premier Model Management in London. She has appeared in numerous advertising campaigns, including Iceberg Vodka, GUESS, Tommy Hilfiger, Christian Dior, and Marciano. In 2001, Hilton began to develop a reputation as a socialite, being identified as "New York's leading It Girl" whose fame was beginning to "extend beyond the New York tabloids".[22] She has appeared in several magazines, including Elle, the April 2004 issue of Maxim[23] and the October 2005 cover of Stuff.
Hilton started to act by doing cameo appearances in films such as Zoolander (2001). However the next year, 2002, she was one of the leads in the straight-to-video horror movie Nine Lives. The film did well in sales. Beyondhollywood.com felt that "Hilton’s presence in the cast is the film’s main marketing point, which is plainly obvious by the fact that she’s front and center on the box art and is the only recognizable name in the cast" and also noted that her character was basically herself: "Hilton plays — what else? — a spoiled American socialite who shops on three continents in one day. The script is even clever enough to take a few jabs at Hilton’s real-life social standing, even mentioning that she’s been on the cover of a few sleaze rags in her day".[24]
2003–2005: Career breakthough[link]
Hilton's breakout role came in 2003, when she co-starred with socialite counterpart Nicole Richie in the Fox reality series The Simple Life, which premiered on December 2, 2003, shortly after Hilton's sex tape was released.[25] The show started airing to surprisingly well received ratings; the premiere episode drew 13,000,000 viewers, increasing Fox's Adults 18-49 rating a phenomenal 79%.[3] "everyone likes it because it's for all ages. People from the city will be like, 'Oh my God, I cannot believe you did that,' and people from the country think it's funny because they do it every day",[26] Hilton said about the reason why the show was successful. Some entertainment writers felt the overnight success of Hilton was spawned by the whole tape controversy. Entertainment Weekly commented: "I dare say the Paris Hilton-Rick Salomon tape received more print and television coverage in a week than the run-up to The Simple Life received in the months since its premiere was announced. We in the media have become Paris-ites".[27] People magazine wrote that the show "no doubt was helped by the very public saga of a pirated three-year-old video tape, which recently made the rounds on the Internet showing Hilton engaged in various sex acts with ex-boyfriend Rick Salomon".[25] At that time, she started to be recognizable for her onscreen dumb blonde persona in reality television. According to UK's Now magazine, in a 2009 interview she said that "For five seasons I was stuck doing this character. It was kind of hard always having to play that character when it's not who I am".[28] In a January 2011 interview with Movieline, she remarked: "In The Simple Life, producers told me to play a dumb blonde and that's what I did. I didn't realize at the time that I'd have to do that for five seasons and keep up this character of me. I think people assume that that is how I am in real life but I'm actually quite a businesswoman".[29]
Hilton launched a lifestyle brand in 2004. She helped design a collection of purses for Japanese label Samantha Thavasa. The 10-piece line collection, a jewelry line designed by Hilton, started being on sale on Amazon.com.[30] "I grew up surrounded by the finest fashion and jewelry designs, and I really wanted to create a line that was beautiful and very high quality, yet affordable and available to everyone," Hilton stated. "This jewelry is for the heiress in everyone."[31] The line was described as "inspired by Hilton's personal style – feminine, flirtatious and glamorous – with heart, star and cross motifs."[31] She was involved in the creation of a perfume line by Parlux Fragrances. Originally set to be a small release, high demand led to a wider release before December 2004. The launch was followed by a 47% increase in sales of Parlux products, predominantly due to sales of the Hilton-branded perfume.[32] After the success of Hilton's perfume, Parlux Fragrances released several more perfumes with her name, including fragrances for men.[33]
In the autumn of 2004, Hilton released an autobiographical book, Confessions of an Heiress: A Tongue-in-Chic Peek Behind the Pose,[34] co-written by Merle Ginsberg, which includes full color photographs of her and her advice on life as an heiress. She mentioned in the book she was looking for a simpler life: "I don't always want the glamorous, jet-set life," she wrote. "Someday soon, I want to have children and a big house with a lot of animals – like my parents had".[35] Hilton reportedly received a $100,000 advance payment for this book. Some in the media panned the writing as amateurish, and the book was parodied by Robert Mundell on The Late Show with David Letterman. The book was in the New York Times bestseller list, ranking at seven.[36] The quote "Dress cute wherever you go; life is too short to blend in", which appeared in the book was added to The Oxford Dictionary of Quotations in September 2009.[37] Hilton followed her book up with a designer diary, also with Ginsberg, called Your Heiress Diary: Confess It All to Me in 2005 and also in that year, she released her second fragrance Just Me.
After Hilton hosted Saturday Night Live with musical guest Keane in February 2005,[38] she got her first major role in the horror thriller film House of Wax, in which Elisha Cuthbert and Chad Michael Murray also starred.[39] The movie, after being first screened at the Tribeca Film Festival,[40] opened in May 2005, receiving mixed reviews.[41] She described how her character was like: "I think Paige is like a small town girl. She's sort of like me, but not really. She was more shy, more insecure, and she, like, cared so much about this guy, and she thought like she was, like, scared he wasn't going to marry her and things like that."[42] Matthew Turner for the View London said that Hilton "does better than you might expect".[43] Also, MTV felt that she gave a good enough performance: "Paris Hilton is actually pretty good — she seems natural, at ease. She can be sweet and appealing, she can be sexy (no stretch), and she can be a good sport, too.[44] Her role as Paige Edwards won the Teen Choice Award for "Best Scream" and earned her a nomination for "Choice Breakout Performance – Female".[45] (It also won her the 2005 Razzie for "Worst Supporting Actress" at the 2005 Golden Raspberry Awards.)[46] She also earned a nomination for "Best Frightened Performance" at the 2006 MTV Movie Awards. House of Wax grossed over $70,000,000.[47]
The Simple Life, which ran for three seasons on FOX, was cancelled after a dispute between Hilton and Richie in 2005. Hilton commented: "It's no big secret that Nicole and I are no longer friends. Nicole knows what she did, and that's all I'm ever going to say about it."[48] Neither Richie nor Hilton spoke publicly about the cause of the split, though it was speculated that the pair fell out due to Nicole showing one of Paris' homemade sex tapes to a group of their friends. They relinked their friendship in October 2006.
2006–2008: Focus on music and film[link]
After Hilton founded Heiress Records, a sub-label of Warner Bros. Records, in 2004, she released her self-titled debut album, Paris, under the label on August 22, 2006. Although the album reached number six on the Billboard 200 for a week, its total sales volume has been low[49] – but the first single "Stars Are Blind" was a top ten hit in 17 countries. "I have always had a voice and always known I could sing, but I was too shy to let it come out. I think that is the hardest thing you can do, to sing in front of people. When I finally let go and did it, I realized it is what I am most talented at and what I love to do the most," she said in an interview, expressing her passion for music.[50] Allmusic commented that the album was "more fun than anything released by Britney Spears or Jessica Simpson, and a lot fresher, too." Billboard magazine described it as "an enjoyable pop romp". As a whole, critical reception was mixed.[51][52]
The straight-to-DVD motion picture Bottoms Up was released in late 2006. The film came out with negative reviews; Australia's Urban Cinefile remarked that Hilton, as the lead role, "spends most of her screen time flicking her hair as she delivers lines like 'books are those things you read'".[53] In December 2006, Pledge This!, film in which Hilton appeared and produced, premiered in a limited release before going directly to video. She missed the premiere of the movie at the Cannes Film Festival in protest to the addition of some nude scenes that were going to be included in the film. Hilton said, "I was so angry I snubbed my own premiere."[54] In August 2008, Worldwide Entertainment Group Inc. sued Hilton in the Miami District Court, alleging she did not honor her contractual agreement to provide "reasonable promotion and publicity" for the film.[55] It was reported she was paid $1,000,000 for her work.
Ater The Simple Life was cancelled by FOX in 2005, it was subsequently aired by E! Entertainment Television for the fourth and fifth seasons. There were some complications to shoot the fifth season because of the arrests of both Hilton and co-star Richie in 2006. Despite talks of a sixth season,[56] the series finished its run at the end of the fifth season in 2007.[57] The show brought high ratings for the network. In that year, Hilton modeled for 2 be free[58] and her fourth perfume came out, called Can Can.
In January 2007, Hilton released the DreamCatchers line of hair extensions in partnership with Hair Tech International.[59] In early August 2007, Hilton signed a licensing agreement with Antebi for a signature footwear line, "Paris Hilton Footwear", featuring stilettos, platforms, flats, wedges, and a sports collection, expected to reach stores in 2008.[60] In mid August 2007, Hilton launched a line of tops, dresses, coats, and jeans at the Kitson Boutique in Los Angeles.[61] She felt the event was "a dream come true" and described the clothing line as " fun, bright and flashy".[62]
In December 2007, Hilton posed nude, covered in gold paint, to promote "Rich Prosecco", a canned version of an Italian sparkling wine.[63][64] She also traveled to Germany to promote the drink, appearing in various print ads for the product.[65] Hilton's love for dogs led her to create an apparel line for dogs called Little Lily by Paris Hilton, with some of the proceeds going to benefit animal rescue. "I have 17 dogs and I like to dress them, so I started designing this clothing line and it's really cute, like dresses and jeans — everything you can imagine for humans, but for dogs," she said in an interview during Super Bowl XLII festivities.[66]
In April 2008, she guest starred on the My Name is Earl episode "I Won't Die with a Little Help from My Friends".[67] On August 6, 2008, Hilton appeared in a one minute fifty second long video online, Paris Hilton Responds to McCain Ad, directed by Adam McKay and posted on the Funny or Die website. The video featured Hilton in a parody advertisement, and was made in response to a television campaign advert Celeb, by the 2008 John McCain presidential campaign. In Celeb, McCain briefly compared his rival Barack Obama to that of celebrities such as Hilton and Britney Spears, going on to question his readiness to lead and criticize his energy policy. In what The Washington Post opined "might just be her best acting role yet,"[68] Hilton appears in the video wearing a leopard print swimsuit.[69] The video received seven million views in two days garnering worldwide press coverage, and drew both written and verbal media response from both campaigns. Continuing the spoof campaign, in October Hilton featured in a second parody video posted on Funny or Die, the two minute twenty second long Paris Hilton Gets Presidential with Martin Sheen, alongside Hollywood actor Martin Sheen, with his son, actor Charlie Sheen, appearing in a cameo role. Hilton, heavily made up and in a green evening dress, interviews Martin Sheen in a kitchen, discussing various political issues, seeking his advice from his days playing a fictional President on The West Wing.[70]
A the 2008 Toronto International Film Festival, it was screened a documentary about Hilton called Paris, Not France.[71] "I think there's a lot of misconceptions in the media. This movie is very personal. It's kind of like a diary", she said about the motion picture.[72] Hilton admitted that when she talked with the movie director Adria Petty, she "broke it down to her and talked about things that have never been spoken about before, and people will learn a lot from that".[72] It is shown in the documentary how she felt about the way the media had portrayed her: "I'm basically being judged, and they're creating this false person, and I can't do anything about it".[73] Petty, during the premiere at the festival remarked that Hilton has "created a mystery about herself that a film like this maybe wouldn't have been a great thing for her in the past. But now, she's been so saturated in the media. We're so used to her. To see a new side of her is so exciting".[73] Later, in 2009, the film was aired in July for MTV.[74][75]
Hilton starred in an MTV reality series titled Paris Hilton's My New BFF, about her search for a new best friend.[76] The series premiered on September 30, 2008.[77] That day, Hilton released her song "My BFF" on KIIS-FM with host Ryan Seacrest.[78][79] It was the theme song for the BFF show .[79] The series proved to be a hit, by being watched in its premiere episode by 1,200,000 viewers and averaged a 1.6 rating among spectators 12-34 in its Tuesday 10 p.m slot, topping all other cable shows in the hour.[80]
Hilton played the character of Amber Sweet, the surgery- and painkiller-addicted daughter of a biotech magnate in the goth/rock musical with a cult film following, Repo! The Genetic Opera. Bloody Disgusting noted that Hilton "is QUITE good in her role, both acting and singing (all of the primary characters sing their own songs). I usually can’t stand her in anything, but she won me over here".[81] Horror.com said: " Not only is this by far Hilton's best role, she's actually got a grain of gravitas in the end".[82] She remarked that "Just getting a role like this offered to me was new to me because I always get offered a certain role just basically playing myself".[83] The film, first screened at the 2008 San Diego Comic-Con International, received a limited release in the United States and Canada on November 7, 2008.[84] Around that time, Hilton released her fifth fragrance for women called, Fairy Dust.[85]
2009–2011: Worldwide TV career[link]

As a result of the American version success, on January 29, 2009, Paris Hilton's British Best Friend, a spin-off, began airing on ITV2 in England. She began to film the show in October 2008. She said that she would not leave London until she could "find that amazing girl or guy who can meet the challenges of being" her "British bestie".[86] She also felt that her friend had to be "hot", "can keep up" with her – it had to be somebody who "is real and won't be a backstabber".[87] The show did quite well; it was watched by 428,000 viewers in its first episode[88] and brought 605,000 viewers for its finale.[89] The second season of Paris Hilton's My New BFF premiered on June 2, 2009. In that same month, Hilton shot Paris Hilton's Dubai BFF[90] (which, after some complication, it was aired in 2011). Runner-up of the British series Kat McKenzie died on July 3, 2009, of a suspected overdose.[91] Hilton guest-starred in the fifth episode of Supernatural's fifth season. "Paris Hilton is playing a demonic creature that takes the form of ... Paris Hilton," creator and executive producer Eric Kripke said in a statement. "It'll be a fun, irreverent episode and we here at Supernatural are thrilled that Paris agreed to do it."[92] In July 2009, her sixth fragrance for women Siren was launched.[93]
In February 2010, Hilton participated in an advertising campaign for the launch of the Brazilian beer Devassa Bem Loura, whose slogan in English roughly translates to "very blonde bitch".[94] As part of the campaign, Hilton joined the brewery's float in the carnival of Rio de Janeiro.[95] Despite the buzz caused by Hilton in Rio de Janeiro, Devassa beer had captured just 0.2% of the market at the end of 2010.[96] Hilton launched her 10th fragrance, Tease inspired by Marilyn Monroe in August 2010.[97]
Hilton provided her voice for the character of Bella in the ABC made-for-television film The Dog Who Saved Christmas Vacation (it is her first voice-over role). She said of the film: "I just think it's a really cute film" and that "I love animal movies, I love Christmas movies, and also, my grandmother, who passed away a couple of years ago from breast cancer, actually had a standard poodle and her name was Paris. So when I'm watching this, it's kind of like watching grandma's dog. It's kind of like a sign to me."[98] The film aired on November 28, 2010[98] and attracted good ratings with 2.611 million viewers.[99] In December 2010 Hilton launched her own motorcycle team.[100] "I can't believe I have my own racing team! So cool! :)" Hilton wrote on her Twitter while at the launch. The team, whose colors are pink, white and blue, will compete in the MotoGP 125cc category from 2011-2013.[101]
Later that year, Oxygen Channel gave the go-ahead to a new reality show called The World According to Paris. The show followed Hilton in her daily life,[102] and premiered in June 1, 2011 to 409,000 viewers. Although being the highest Wednesday premiere for a show,[103] it was considered a bomb and that led the media to surmise Hilton had became irrelevant and even during an interview with ABC News' Dan Harris, she walked out after being asked if she was worried about her moment having past.[104] The New York Times wrote that Hilton "is an attractive woman with proven talent for marketing and self-promotion, though as a reality heroine she seems a little passé — a Sony Walkman in an iPod era, a Friendster in the age of Facebook or, to put it in context, a single-process blonde in a triple-process world", and also remarked that she "appears to have plenty of boyfriends, present and ex. Paparazzi still snap her picture. But it’s hard to see how she can recapture the kind of audience she enjoyed in her heyday — even by streaming her premiere live on Facebook".[105]
She also modeled for Brazil fashion week in 2010 and 2011 In São Paulo, Brazil.[106] In 2011, it was launched a new collection of fragrances called the Passport collection. The perfumes are inspired by popular cities such as Paris, France; South Beach, Florida; and Tokyo, Japan,[107] she was named "Billion Dollar Entrepreneur" by Variety magazine and was featured on the cover[108][109] and opened up her third store in the Philippines.[110] Also in that year, a Paris Hilton brand store was opened in India with plans to open 8 more stores.[111] She also modeled during Ukraine Fashion week 2011 for designer Andre Tan.[112]
2012–present: Upcoming projects[link]
In September 2011, at the Sun City music festival, Afrojack previewed Good Time, an unfinished demo with Hilton's vocals.[113] In the same month, DJ Antoine revealed that he had met with Hilton twice to discuss collaborating on her upcoming album.[114] In October, Manufactured Superstars revealed that their next single would be "Drunk Text", which stars Hilton in the music video.[115] The video was leaked on February 23, 2012, and there were many speculations from media outlets, stating that the single was going to be part of Hilton's upcoming album. Later, her spokesperson said that "we can confirm that the video leaked today is not part of Paris Hilton’s new album. This video was recorded over a year ago. The first single will be out in a few months, we will let everyone know when it’s due for release."[116]
In January 2012, at the 69th Golden Globe Awards After Party, she stated she was going to appear in Darren Lynn Bousman's horror film Devil's Carnival, remarking that the film was a musical. In an interview with the director, he admitted that although considering Hilton for a role in the film, he felt that "there just wasn't anything in there that was perfect for her". He told, however, he will work with Hilton in the future.[117] In March 2012, it was reported that she will appear as herself in Sofia Coppola's The Bling Ring, a film about a group of teenagers who robbed the houses of celebrities such as Hilton, Lindsay Lohan and Orlando Bloom between 2008 and 2009,[118] is scheduled to be released in 2013. In February 2012, she launched a new line of sunglesses in Shanghai.[119] The launch was a "huge success", she said.[120]
In the January 2012 issue of FHM magazine, Hilton gave an update about her second studio album, stating: "I've been working on the album with lots of other top DJs for a while now and I think people will be really surprised. It's very modern and very catchy; perfect party music".[121] She has since told MTV News "I was just in the studio with RedFoo the other night, so we're going to be doing my new single with LMFAO," and continued to say "I'm going with a whole new genre. I have Afrojack executive-producing the entire album. So we've just been coming up with the most incredible tracks."[122] She also stated that she is working with Snoop Dogg[123] and Flo Rida.[124] It was announced in early May that the single, which is called "After Midnight", will premiere on June 5.[125] She also made headlines after reporting she will have her debut as a DJ at the Pop Music Festival in Brazi on June 23.[126] Afrojack praised Hilton during an interview with Castanet, reported the New York Post.[127] While discussing about working with her in the upcoming album, he said: "The thing is with her… she’s like one of the most talented performers I know. She may not be a Celine Dion, but she knows how to perform on stage. She knows how to sing, believe it or not".[127] Also, he commented that "In the studio with her for the first time, I wasn’t sure what to expect. But the girl can sing. And she loves the dance music so we made some nice music. And it was fun".[128]
She said she will be opening a beach club in 2012: "The first one is opening in the Philippines soon. It's going to have nightclubs, restaurants, bars, gyms. Everything really".[129] It has been reported that her fragrances have grossed over $1.4 billion in revenue since 2005.[130] As of March 2012, there are 55 Paris Hilton Stores worldwide,[120] and her signature brand includes 17 different products lines such as t-shirts, shoes, fragrances, handbags and watches.[131]
Celebrity status[link]
She denied proclaiming herself as the "iconic blonde of the decade" such as Diana, Princess of Wales, and Marilyn Monroe in the May 2007 issue of Harper's Bazaar.[132] She appeared in the 2007 Guinness World Records as the world's "Most Overrated Celebrity".[133][134] In a poll conducted by the Associated Press and AOL, Hilton was voted the second "Worst Celebrity Role Model of 2006", behind Britney Spears.[135] Hilton has often appeared in FHM's 100 Sexiest Women poll, ranking at number thirty four in 2006, twenty three in 2005 and fifity nine in 2004.[136] She was named one of the "100 Hottest Women of All-Time" by Men's Health.[5]
Critics suggest that Hilton epitomizes the title of famous for being famous;[6] since her beginnings in the industry, she has attracted massive media attention for her controversial lifestyle, her arrests, her high profiled relationships and her party girl image. Back in the day, when her reality show The Simple Life was broadcast, she was a daily fixture in tabloids and there was a point where New York Daily News gossip columnist Lloyd Grove banned her from his page and the Associated Press conducted what they called an experiment in February 2007, trying not to report on Hilton for a whole week.[137] According to a 2011 poll conducted by Ipsos, Hilton is the most unpopular celebrity among Americans, with 60% of the responders having an unfavorable opinion on her.[138] In 2012, she ranked at number five in the "Most Over-exposed" list by Forbes.[139]
Charity[link]
She has also helped with some humanitarian organizations. In June 2008, she donated money to the construction of a medical building at Children's Hospital Los Angeles. She stated that "The children I have met through my involvement with Children’s Hospital Los Angeles have truly touched my heart. I am proud to make a donation and lend my name to the fundraising effort to help children who are facing terribly serious illnesses. The fabulous new hospital facilities at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles will provide a caring, healing environment for children and their families for many years to come."[140] In 2010, Hilton was named as ambassador for a new initiative from the USO that aims to give a MP3 player to all US active service troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.[141]
She received the Heart of Gold Award by the Starlight Children's Foundation for her philanthropy efforts on March 26, 2011. After the ceremony, she wrote through Twitter that "These families and their children go through so much and my heart and prayers are with them. It's such an amazing feeling to give back and make a difference in someone's life. I am so honoured to be a part of such an amazing cause."[142] She participated, alongside Fergie and husband Josh Duhamel, in the run that raised money for the people affected by the Japan Earthquake.[143] Recently, she got involved with My Hope for Children.[144]
Personal life[link]
Hilton loves small dogs, and lives with a Yorkshire Terrier and a female Chihuahua named Tinkerbell among many other pets. Hilton is frequently seen carrying Tinkerbell (dubbed an "accessory dog") at social events and functions, and in all five seasons of television reality show The Simple Life. In 2004, Tinkerbell "authored" a memoir, The Tinkerbell Hilton Diaries. On August 12, 2004, Tinkerbell went missing after Hilton's apartment was burgled, and a $5,000 reward was offered for her safe return.[145] She was found six days later. By December 1, 2004, Tinkerbell was again spotted with Hilton at various events. Hilton has also purchased a male Chihuahua on July 25, 2007, from Pets of Bel Air in Los Angeles.[146] Hilton's love for her dogs led to the rumor that she wanted to be frozen with them at the Cryonics Institute,[147] but Hilton denied the rumor on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.[148]
On January 22, 2007, Hilton's private life was thrust into the media spotlight with the launch of ParisExposed.com, a website that features images of personal documents, video, and other material allegedly obtained when the contents of a storage locker rented by Hilton was auctioned off due to lack of a $208 payment.[149] The website began charging online access to this material and received 1.2 million visitors in just over 40 hours.[150] Among the contents were medications, diaries, photographs, contracts and love letters, as well as a video of her shot by Joe Francis of Girls Gone Wild.[151] On February 3, 2007, Hilton obtained a temporary injunction against ParisExposed.com, closing down the website.[152] On February 5, 2007, CNN's Anderson Cooper 360 discussed footage obtained from the ParisExposed.com website which features Hilton using the ethnic slurs "niggers", "chink", "Jappy" and the derogatory term "faggot".[153]
Relationships[link]
Hilton was engaged to fashion model Jason Shaw from mid-2002 to early 2003. In 2003–2004 she had a relationship with singer Nick Carter. Later she was engaged to Greek shipping heir Paris Latsis, from May 29, 2005, to November 2005. Thereafter, she began dating another Greek shipping heir, Stavros Niarchos III, before breaking up in May 2006. In early 2008, she was spotted with Good Charlotte guitarist Benji Madden and in May, Hilton announced her intention to marry Madden during an interview with television talk-show host David Letterman.[154][155] The two broke up in November 2008, and "remain very good friends".[156][157] She began dating The Hills star Doug Reinhardt in February 2009;[158] Hilton has also referred to her intention to marry Reinhardt, saying "He's gonna be my husband."[159] The couple broke up in June 2009, only to get back together again in August of the same year. On April 13, 2010, Hilton reportedly split from Reinhardt because she was worried he was just using her to further his career.[160] Shortly after splitting from Reinhardt, Hilton started dating Cy Waits, entrepreneur and co-owner of Tryst Nightclub and XS Nightclub in Las Vegas.[161] Hilton expressed that she would like to marry Cy, stating: "“I can see myself marrying him. We are so happy!”.[162] In late June 2011, Hilton revealed that the couple had split up and remained close friends.[163]
As of March 2012, Paris Hilton is in a relationship with Dutch-Surinamese DJ Afrojack.[164][165][166]
Legal troubles[link]
Hilton was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol content of 0.08%, the level at which it is illegal to drive in California. The arrest complicated the shooting of the fifth season of series. Hilton's driving license was subsequently suspended in November 2006,[167] and in January 2007 she pleaded no contest to a reckless driving charge.[168] Her punishment was 36 months' probation and fines of about $1,500.[169]
On January 15, 2007, Hilton was pulled over for driving with a suspended license and signed a document acknowledging that she was not permitted to drive.[170] The next month, Hilton was caught driving 70 mph in a 35 mph zone, again with a suspended license. She also did not have her headlights on even though it was after dark. Prosecutors in the office of the Los Angeles City Attorney charged that those actions, along with the failure to enroll in a court-ordered alcohol education program, constituted a violation of the terms of her probation.[167]
On May 4, 2007, Hilton was sentenced by Judge Michael T. Sauer to 45 days in jail for violating her probation. Initially, Hilton planned to appeal the sentence, and supported an online petition asking California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger for a pardon.[171] The petition was created and organized on May 5, 2007, by Joshua Morales.[172] In response, various opponents started a counter-petition to maintain the sentence.[173] Both petitions attracted tens of thousands of signatures. Hilton later switched lawyers and dropped her plans to appeal.[174]
Hilton was required to begin her jail term on June 5, 2007,[175] and checked herself into the Century Regional Detention Facility, an all-female jail in Lynwood, California after attending the 2007 MTV Movie Awards on June 3, 2007. However Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca signed orders on June 7, reassigning Hilton to 40 days of home confinement with an electronic monitoring device due to an unspecified medical condition.[176] Baca commented on the release saying, "My message to those who don't like celebrities is that punishing celebrities more than the average American is not justice,"[177] contesting that under normal circumstances, Hilton would not have served any time in jail, and he added that "The special treatment, in a sense, appears to be because of her celebrity status ... She got more time in jail".[178] On the same day that Hilton was released from jail, Judge Michael Sauer summoned her to reappear in court the following morning (June 8) as the sentencing statement had explicitly said she would serve time in jail with "No work furlough. No work release. No electronic monitoring."[179] At the hearing he declined to be briefed by Hilton's attorney in private chambers on the nature of her condition and sent her back to jail to serve out her original 45-day sentence. Upon hearing the sentence, Hilton shouted, "It's not right!" and started screaming, requesting to hug her mother who was present in the courtroom.[180][181] Concern about Hilton's condition led to her being moved to the medical wing of the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles, and she was moved back to the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood on June 13.[182]
While in jail, Hilton was influenced by the clergyman minister Marty Angelo: Hilton referred to starting a "new beginning" during her interview with talk show host Larry King on June 28, 2007, two days after being released from jail,[183] and quoted from Angelo's autobiography, entitled Once Life Matters: A New Beginning. On June 9, 2007, Marty Angelo petitioned Sauer,[184] asking to serve out the remainder of Hilton's jail sentence if the judge would release her to an alternative treatment program,[185] but the petition was turned down. On the same show, she revealed taking Adderall for ADHD since childhood.[186]
On July 2, 2010, Hilton was accused of smoking marijuana at the 2010 FIFA World Cup game between Brazil and the Netherlands. She was escorted from the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium by local police, however the case was later dismissed for unknown reasons. Hilton's publicist, Dawn Miller, stated "I can confirm that the incident was a complete misunderstanding and it was actually another person in the group who did it".[187][188] Two weeks later, Hilton was detained and released after being caught in possession of cannabis at Figari airport, Corsica.[189]
On August 28, 2010, she was arrested on suspicion of cocaine possession in Las Vegas while her boyfriend, Cy Waits, was booked on charges of driving under the influence.[190][191] Initially her defence claimed that the handbag containing 0.8g of cocaine was not hers as "This purse in question was a high street brand – and by no means up to her high fashion standards.".[192] Later she claimed some of the personal items (like cash and credit cards) from the bag acknowledging it was hers.
In order to avoid being convicted on felony, Hilton pleaded guilty to two misdemeanors on September 17, 2010. Under the terms of the plea bargain, she was sentenced to one year probation, 200 hours community service, $2,000 fine and ordered to complete a drug abuse program.[193][194] Clark County District Attorney David Roger said that: "If she is arrested for anything besides a minor traffic violation she will spend a year in jail. There will be no discussion. The court will have no discretion."[193]
On September 21, 2010, while travelling to a press conference in Tokyo to promote fashion and fragrance lines, Hilton and her sister Nicky were stopped by immigration officers at Narita Airport, Japan because of Hilton's conviction for drug possession a day earlier. Under Japan's strict anti-drug laws, all people sentenced for any drug crime are in general denied entry.[195][196] Narita officials questioned Hilton "for hours" and Hilton and her sister were forced to sleep over at the airport-hotel.[195] On September 22, Japanese authorities decided not to grant Hilton entry into the country and she was put on a plane back to the U.S. the same day. Other stops on their Asian promotion tour were cancelled, as countries like Indonesia and Malaysia have even tougher anti-drug laws.[196]

In December 2007, Hilton's grandfather, Barron Hilton, pledged 97 percent of his estate (the Hilton family fortune) to a charitable organization founded by his father, Conrad N. Hilton, the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation.[197] As a result, the inheritance of his grandchildren is sharply diminished.[198][199] An immediate pledge of $1.2 billion was made (the proceeds of the sale of Hilton Hotels Corporation), with a further $1.1 billion due after his death.[197] He cited the actions of his father, Conrad N. Hilton, as the motivation for his pledge.[197] Conrad, Barron's father, had left 97% of his estate to the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation and Barron subsequently contested his father's will to win back a sizeable amount of the Hilton family fortune in a settlement.[200] By leaving his estate to the Foundation, Barron is donating not only the fortune he has amassed on his own, but he is also returning the Hilton family fortune amassed by his father, Conrad, to the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, where it would have gone over 30 years ago had Barron not contested his father's will. Barron said he is proud to follow his father's example.[201]

Marisa Lee Miller (née Bertetta; born August 6, 1978)[2][3] is an American model best known for her appearances in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issues and her work for lingerie retailer Victoria's Secret. After a stint shooting with photographer Mario Testino for fashion magazines like Vogue,[4] Miller began working for both companies in 2002. In 2007, she became a Victoria's Secret Angel, and graced the cover of the 2008 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue to record-setting numbers.[5] Her accomplishments have led to her being dubbed the "return of the great American supermodel."[6]
She is also known for contracts with companies like Harley-Davidson, for whom she is the first spokesperson in the history of the company, and the NFL, whom she became a spokesperson for in 2010 .[7] Miller is considered a sex symbol;[7] she ranked #1 on Maxim magazine's 2008 "Hot 100" list[6] and in FHM's global 2010 "Sexiest Women in the World" poll.[8] Aside from modeling, she is an ambassador for both the American Cancer Society[9] and the USO.[10]

Born Marisa Lee Bertetta in Santa Cruz, California, to Krista (née Useldinger) and Marc Bertetta,[11] Miller attended high school at Aptos High and Monte Vista Christian School.[citation needed] She considered herself a tomboy growing up, with mostly male friends and little awareness of anything girly.[12] Out of shyness, she often wore large t-shirts to hide her body and would get fully dressed just to go to the trash-can while at the beach.[13]
Miller was first "discovered" at age sixteen walking through a San Francisco café by two Italian modeling agents.[11] After talking to her mother, she was on a plane to Italy with her mother a few months later, despite her "shy and conservative" personality.[4] Miller gained attention in 1997 when she appeared in the first issue of Perfect 10 magazine. Although she came in third behind Ashley Degenford and Monica Hansen in Perfect 10 magazine's first annual model search,[3] she was repeatedly showcased in following issues, including the covers of the Winter 1998 and August/September 1999 editions, as well as a reprint for the Fall 2004 edition cover.[14]
Career[link]
Miller moved from a start as an amateur magazine model to high profile mainstream work after an acquaintance showed a picture of her to famed fashion photographer Mario Testino in 2001. Testino asked to meet Miller, who was running a surf school at the time, and was invited to Manhattan Beach, California, where she would be surfing.[4]
Noticing her, Testino snapped pictures of her and approached her with a job offer. It turned out to be editorials for both the American and Italian editions of Vogue. Within six months,[4] Miller was working for Victoria's Secret and the coveted Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, in which she appeared in every issue from 2002 to 2008.[citation needed] In particular, she famously posed wearing only an iPod in the 2007 issue.[15] She has also appeared in a diverse range of magazines, many of them international editions, such as GQ, Maxim, Glamour, Cosmopolitan, Marie Claire, Elle, and Vanity Fair.[1] She has featured in advertisements for Nordstrom, J.Crew, Guess?, Tommy Hilfiger, Bath & Body Works, and True Religion jeans.[1]
It was not until 2007 that she filmed her first television commercial for Victoria's Secret, appearing alongside Heidi Klum for the It bra.[citation needed]
On December 4, 2007, Miller made her debut in the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show,[2] and opened a segment in the following year's edition. Other runway work include 2007's Fashion for Relief show, benefiting victims of Hurricane Katrina,[2] as well as MTV's Fashionably Loud, Imitation of Christ, Inca, and Amir Slama's Rosa Cha, for which she was one of the most anticipated models.[16]
On the February 12, 2008 episode of The Late Show with David Letterman, it was revealed via a three-story billboard in New York City that Miller would grace the cover of that year's Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. The tandem online launch of the issue drew record page views to the SI website: 228 million, a 41% increase over 2007.[5] In September 2008, Sports Illustrated released a "Best of Marisa Miller" swimsuit calendar for the 2009 year.[2]
Victoria's Secret also put her to work in 2008, with a five-city tour to promote the 2008 Swim collection's release in stores; the April–May tour included stops in New York City, Miami, Chicago (where she threw the opening pitch at a Chicago Cubs baseball game), Boston, and Minneapolis. The relaunch of Victoria Secret's sports line, VSX, soon followed, along with her first official campaign as an Angel:[17] promoting the company's fragrance Very Sexy Dare.
For the 2009 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, Miller was chosen to wear the year's "Fantasy Bra," a harlequin design featuring 2,300 white, champagne, and cognac diamonds, and a 16-carat heart-shaped brown-yellow diamond pendant for a $3-million value and 150 total carats.[18][19]
In response to claims that Miller had parted with Victoria's Secret in January 2010, the Chief Marketing Officer for Limited Brands responded, saying the claims were "unfounded and untrue" while adding "we adore Marisa and we will continue to work with her in the future."[20] In late 2010, Miller confirmed she had moved on from Angel status.[10]
Beyond modeling[link]
In a July 2010 interview with Forbes, Miller stated that because the fashion industry had changed, with celebrities supplanting models on magazine covers and in campaigns, supermodels have to become brands to be successful.[7] For that reason, she shifted focus to consumer products reflective of her personality. In July 2008, Miller took her first step beyond modeling when her shoe line with skateboarder/surfer-oriented company Vans launched.[6] Miller starred in a 2008 viral video on YouTube with All Star baseball player Ryan Braun for Remington's ShortCut hair clippers[21]
In 2008, Miller became the first spokesperson in motorcycle manufacturer Harley-Davidson's one-hundred-year history.[7] She first partnered with Harley to launch the VRSCF V-Rod Muscle motorcycle and rejoined the company in November 2009 to act as the face of their first "Military Appreciation Month" campaign, featuring Miller as a classic pin-up in military-themed advertisements and online content.[22] 2010 found her again working for the company, this time for their "Start Something" campaign, encouraging dreamers to become new riders.[23]
Miller represented the rum brand Captain Morgan as the company's "Official First Mate" in advertising, social responsibility communication, and event appearances, starting in 2010.[24]
In October 2010, the NFL announced Miller had been hired as a spokesperson for the 2010-2011 season, with duties including hosting the NFL International Series game between the San Francisco 49ers and Denver Broncos in London. The announcement drew accusations toward the league of sending a "mixed message" in hiring a well-known lingerie and swimsuit model on the heels of controversies over reporter Ines Sainz's treatment at the New York Jets' facilities and the messages and photos Brett Favre allegedly sent Jenn Sterger.[25] New York Times columnist William C. Rhoden noted that "Miller reveals a lot of flesh in the N.F.L. advertisements featuring her. This is Miller’s business, but it shouldn’t be the N.F.L.’s."[26]
In 2010, she designed and released a paddle board line with Surftech aimed at female riders[27] and in 2012 she appeared in a beach-theme commercial for Buick.[28]
Television[link]
Miller's first work in television was as a judge on the Bravo reality series Manhunt: The Search for America's Most Gorgeous Male Model in 2004,[29] the same year she appeared in Puddle of Mudd's "Spin You Around" music video. 2007 brought appearances in the pilot episode and finale of VH1 reality show The Shot and cameos in HBO's Entourage and the CBS comedy How I Met Your Mother,[30] the latter with her fellow Victoria's Secret Angels. In 2009, she had a guest judge role on an episode of America's Next Top Model and a minor role in an episode of Gary Unmarried; in 2010, she co-hosted an episode of GameTrailers TV with Geoff Keighley.[31]
She has appeared in commercials for the NFL Network[32] and the California Travel and Tourism Commission's "Visit California" campaign. Miller's 2008 commercial for Activision's Guitar Hero: World Tour was deemed too sexy to air.[33][34]

The swell in publicity resulting from her 2008 work served to land Miller in the number one spot on Maxim magazine's "Hot 100" rankings for 2008, beating out list regulars such as Scarlett Johansson, Jessica Biel, and Eva Longoria. This marked the first time anyone has debuted on the list in the number one position.[6] In her subsequent cover story for the July issue, Maxim proclaimed her as the "return of the great American supermodel." Of such acclaim, Miller admits, "I get a kick out of it, but it would be stupid to let it go to my head. It’s modeling—I didn’t find the cure for cancer."[36] Miller continued to be highly rated and appeared on the list in 2009 in 18th place, and in 2010 in 10th place.[37]
She also finished first place in The Best Damn Sports Show Period "Smokin' Sixteen" competition in 2008,[38] repeating her 2007 win over competitors such as Gisele Bündchen and Adriana Lima. Miller ranked second in AskMen.com's "Top 99" for 2010, after ranking third in 2009, ninth in 2008, twelfth in 2007, and fourteenth in 2006.[39][dead link][40][41][42][43] She added to her popular accolades with the "Hot N' Fresh" award at the second annual Spike Guys' Choice Awards.[44]
In 2010, Miller came in third in FHM magazine's UK edition of the 16th annual "Sexiest Women in the World" poll, placing behind actress Megan Fox and winner, British singer Cheryl Cole.[45][46] Miller topped the poll in the US edition of FHM and was declared the global winner of the poll, receiving the most combined votes from FHM's 24 international editions.[8]
Personal life[link]
She married Jim Miller,[2][47] a Los Angeles surfing contest promoter and lifeguard from California, in 2000. The couple separated in 2002;[48][49] they divorced soon after. After the divorce, Marisa continued using the surname Miller. She married music producer Griffin Guess on April 15, 2006.[2]
From an early age she loved surfing,[11] and her aunt was on the pro tour.[15][50] In 2004, she placed second in the celebrity division of the Kelly Slater Surf Invitational[2] and says of the sport, "I feel my absolute best—physically, mentally and spiritually—when I'm surfing every day."[12] She also won the most valuable player award at the 4th annual Celebrity Beach Bowl.[51] She was a standout volleyball player in high school[2] and has taken up boxing.[9][49] After signing with Harley Davidson, Miller received her motorcycle license[52] and rides a Harley Nightster. She has said that she would like to be a sportscaster.[53] Miller comes from a family of nurses. Her mother returned to college to become a pediatrics nurse and her sisters are also nurses. She has expressed an interest in following the same career path if she stops modeling.[54][55]
As of 2009, Miller is an ambassador for the American Cancer Society.[9][56] Proceeds from her online store are donated to the charity. She also supports the Young Survival Coalition, which raises awareness of breast cancer in women under 40,[6] as well as environmental organization the Surfrider Foundation, which aims to preserve the world's oceans and beaches.[56] In October 2009, Miller hosted the Monte Foundation music festival, an annual fundraiser for schools in the Aptos area, where she and Guess own a home.[15] She is also an ambassador for the USO; she visits military bases and receives frequent fan mail from American troops worldwide.[10]

Jorgina Alexandra "Jorgie" Porter, (born 25 December 1987, in Trafford, Greater Manchester)[1][2] is an English actress, notable for her role as Theresa McQueen in the Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks.

Early life[link]
Porter grew up with her mother and grandmother and has only met her father once. She is quoted as saying: "I don't speak to my dad. I haven't missed him. I don't feel like I need a father figure really. On Father's Day some of the girls who are talking about it suddenly remember and apologise. I just say "Guys it's okay. I don't care". I don't know any better so it's cool."[3] A former ballet dancer, Porter was told by the ballet school she attended that she was overweight for a dancer.[3]
Career[link]
In November 2008 it was announced that Porter had joined the cast of Channel 4 soap opera Hollyoaks, playing the role of Theresa McQueen. Porter said that she was "thrilled" to join the cast and be a part of one of soap opera's "most notorious families".[4]
In 2010, Porter appeared alongside eight other soap opera actesses in a music video and cover of Cyndi Lauper single Girls Just Want To Have Fun. The song was released in aid of charity, Cancer Research UK's campaign "Race for Life".[5] Porter also featured as a dancer in the music video for Roll Deep's song Green Light. She appeared with dark hair instead of her usual blonde tone.[6]
Porter appears on the November 2010 issue of Sugar magazine.[7]
In FHM's 100 Sexiest Women in the World 2011 Porter was ranked 50th.[8]
In August 2011, Porter took part in the ITV show Born To Shine. Porter learned to street dance on the show, but failed to make the final.[9]
Porter is currently an ambassador for Teenage Cancer Trust and their annual sun safety campaign, 'Shunburn'. Porter had several images taken, showing the effects of sun burn.[10]
In 2012, Porter was confirmed to be a contestant on the seventh series of Dancing on Ice.[11] Porter was paired with dancing with American pairs skater Matt Evers.[12]. Porter made it to the final and finished in second place behind Matthew Wolfenden.[13] Porter later told the Press Association that she wanted to stay with Hollyoaks.[14]

In 2011, Porter revealed that she is in a relationship with her Hollyoaks co-star James Atherton.[15]

Emily Jane Atack (pronounced ay-tack) (born 18 December 1989) is a British actress best known for her role as Charlotte Hinchcliffe in the award winning E4 series The Inbetweeners. She also appeared in Heartbeat (2008), Blue Murder (2007) and was featured in a number of lads' mags.
Born in Bedfordshire, she is the daughter of actress Kate Robbins and musician Keith Atack.[2][3] Atack was a contestant in ITV's Dancing on Ice in early 2010, partnered with professional ice skater Fred Palascak; they were voted off in the eighth week.[4] In 2011, Atack presented a stylised public service announcement titled Ready, Steady, Drink, showing the dangers of drinking alcohol.
Atack is related to Sir Paul McCartney - her mother is the ex-Beatles's cousin.[5]
