My people, today I will show you a country were even police drives around with gunmen for security. We'll visit the Guerrero state mountains, home of the largest heroine plantations in the country. We'll talk to local gang members, who weigh their cash, because it is quicker to count it that way.
These people don't just control a shop or a street, nope, not even districts, instead they control villages and towns!
It's the Guerrero State, where half of Mexico's heroine production takes place. Honestly, when I was on my way to Mexico, I had no idea this trip will turn out to be one of the most insane trips of my life, all due to the fact that Mexico is now experiencing a new evolution of drug wars, and today I'll visit cities with no army, no police, since it's narcos, who control them!

A wave of homicides targeting female victims — labeled as femicides — has been sweeping the State of Mexico, the sprawling suburb that engulfs Mexico City. While government officials have not provided exact figures, the National Citizen Femicide Observatory estimates six women are murdered a day, and a United Nations body has described the situation as a pandemic.

The State of Mexico (Spanish: Estado de México, pronounced: [esˈtaðo ðe ˈmexiko]) is one of the 31 states which, with the Federal District, make up the 32 federal entities of Mexico. It is the most populous, as well as the most densely populated state. It is divided into 125 municipalities and its capital city is Toluca de Lerdo.
The State of Mexico is often abbreviated to "Edomex" from Estado de México in Spanish. It is located in South-Central Mexico. It is bordered by the states of Querétaro and Hidalgo to the north, Morelos and Guerrero to the south, Michoacán to the west, Tlaxcala and Puebla to the east, and surrounds the Federal District.
The state’s origins are in the territory of the Aztec Empire, which remained a political division of the New Spain during the Spanish colonial period. After Independence, Mexico City was chosen as the capital of the new nation; its territory was separated out of the state. Years later, parts of the state were broken off to form the states of Hidalgo, Guerrero and Morelos. These territorial separations have left the state with the size and shape it has today, with the Toluca Valley to the west of Mexico City and a panhandle that extends around the north and east of this entity.

Mexican wine
Mexican wine and wine making began with the arrival of the Spanish in the 16th century, when they brought vines from Europe to modern day Mexico, the oldest wine-growing region in the Americas. Although there were indigenous grapes before the Spanish conquest, the Spaniards found that Spanish grapevines also did very well in the colony of New Spain (Mexico) and by the 17th century wine exports from Spain to the New World fell. In 1699, Charles II of Spain prohibited wine making in Mexico, with the exception of wine for Church purposes. From then until Mexico’s Independence, wine was produced in Mexico only on a small scale. After Independence, wine making for personal purposes was no longer prohibited and production rose, especially in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Many other European immigrant groups helped with the comeback of wine in Mexico. However, the Mexican Revolution set back wine production, especially in the north of the country. Wine production in Mexico has been rising in both quantity and quality since the 1980s, although competition from foreign wines and 40% tax on the product makes competing difficult within Mexico. Mexico is not traditionally a wine-drinking country, but rather prefers beer, tequila and mezcal. Interest in Mexican wine, especially in the major cities and tourists areas (along with the introduction into the US on a small scale), has grown along with Mexican wines’ reputation throughout the world. Many Mexican companies have received numerous awards. Various wine producers from Mexico have won international awards for their products.

Mexico (barque)
Mexico was a barque that was wrecked off Southport on 9 December 1886. She was repaired only to be lost in Scottish waters in 1890.
Shipwreck
On 9 December 1886, the Mexico was on its way from Liverpool to Guayaquil, Ecuador when it was caught in a storm. Lifeboats were launched from Lytham, St. Annes and Southport to rescue the crew. The Lytham lifeboat Charles Biggs, which was on her maiden rescue, rescued the twelve crew but both the St. Annes lifeboat Laura Janet and the Southport lifeboat Eliza Fernley were capsized, and 27 of the 29 crew were drowned. To date, this is the worst loss of RNLI crew in a single incident.Mexico came ashore off Birkdale, opposite the Birkdale Palace Hotel.
Aftermath
Sixteen women were left widows, and fifty children lost their fathers. Queen Victoria and the Kaiser sent their condolences to the families of the lifeboatmen. An appeal was launched to raise money to provide a memorial to those killed, and the organisation by Sir Charles Macara of the first street collections in Manchester in 1891 led to the first flag days. The disaster has a permanent memorial in Lytham St. Annes lifeboat house. An appeal has been launched by the Lytham St. Annes Civic Society for the restoration of four of the memorials.

Mexico (novel)
Mexico is a novel by James A. Michener published in 1992.
The main action of Mexico takes place in Mexico over a three-day period in the fictional city of Toledo in 1961. The occasion is the annual bullfighting festival, at which two matadors — one an acclaimed hero of the sport, the other a scrapping contender — are prepared to fight to the death for fame and glory.
Through the memories of the book's narrator, Norman Clay, an American journalist of Spanish and Indian descent, Michener provides plenty of historical background, including a depiction of the gruesome human sacrifices that took place hundreds of years before on the city's periphery. The story focuses on bullfighting, but also provides great insight into Mexican culture. The reader follows the bulls from their breeding to their "sorting" to the pageantry and spectacle of the bullring, where picadors and banderilleros prepare the bull for the entrance of the matador with his red cape. The author creates one of his most memorable characters in the bullfighting "critic" Leon Ledesma, a flamboyant sportswriter who elevates bullfighting into an art form through his grandiloquent essays.

My people, today I will show you a country were even police drives around with gunmen for security. We'll visit the Guerrero state mountains, home of the largest heroine plantations in the country. We'll talk to local gang members, who weigh their cash, because it is quicker to count it that way.
These people don't just control a shop or a street, nope, not even districts, instead they control villages and towns!
It's the Guerrero State, where half of Mexico's heroine production takes place. Honestly, when I was on my way to Mexico, I had no idea this trip will turn out to be one of the most insane trips of my life, all due to the fact that Mexico is now experiencing a new evolution of drug wars, and today I'll visit cities with no army, no police, since it's narcos, who control them!

What is the Identity of the Valle de Guadalupe? What Varietals grow the best here?
➡️ The combination of cool nights and sunshine make Baja an ideal spot for more intense red varieties. There are so many different varietals ranging from Sauvignon Blanc to Cabernet Sauvignon, but there is a clear favorite among many winemakers and sommeliers: Nebbiolo.
🍇 Nebbiolo has adapted well in the Valle, but just a few years back they were saying the same thing about Tempranillo. What is exciting is that winemakers can be creative and come up with extremely exciting blends
➡️ The mix of international grapes is increasing, the oldest vines in the region are Carignan, Grenache and Mission. Some winemakers believe these varieties also hold the key to Mexico’s wine future as they are the best adapted to the environment.
➡️ The character of Mexican wines depends on the vineyard site. It has a huge mix of soils that have been brought to the surface by the action of the colliding tectonic plates in this highly active seismic area. The most remarkable feature are the ginormous boulders that are strewn around the valley. It looks like the aftermath of giants having snowball fights, with rocks.

Hey frenz,
I know that for a lot of you 2020 has seemed like an absolute crapshoot. We've all lost people or know friends who have lost people and some days it just feels like we're just trying to outrun the sadness of it all. A few weeks ago it was announced that Adam Schlesinger of Fountains Of Wayne passed away. I never met him and he had no idea who my band was, but the songs he wrote with Fountains of Wayne have been weaving themselves into the fabric of my writing process since I was a teenager. It's so interesting how pop music seems so frivilous and disposable until you find yourself in a situation that only the right song can save you from. I loved Adam's band and I loved his songs. After I heard he passed I just grabbed a guitar and starting playing everything I could remember that he had written. In this weird way I was trying to hang on to his songs in case they somehow decided to leave with him. His songs were a textbook for me in music and life when I really needed one, and his loss is still felt in our tiny little corner of North Carolina.
I got some friends together during quarantine to do a cover of one of my favorite songs Adam wrote. I was lucky enough to have Davey Davenport, J. Stephens and Scott Kerr from Five Iron Frenzy come on board to play this one with me and do a little track swapping. It was a really fun reminder to me that songs are shared experiences just floating around the universe waiting to happen to us, and we can be a part of them any time we want, even during a pandemic. Adam had an amazing way of telling people's stories and reaching out through his songs as if to say "I see you." I'll never forget the way Adam's songs made me feel seen, and I can't think of a better gift to leave behind than that...

Longtail boat racer reaches speeds of 100kmh on modified craft
An enthusiastic longtail boatman shows off the blistering speed of his engine on a canal in western Thailand. Manop Ruaprasert, 25, took his boat onto a canal in Ratchaburi and showed off the extreme speed and manoeuvrability of his craft, as well as his skill and reflexes as a boatman. He bought the wooden body of the boat then modified it by attaching a 1-litre car engine which is more powerful than the standard 150cc drag racing engines. Manop's boat, which he modified himself, can reach speeds of more than 100kmh. He started for fun when he was in his late teens. The canals in central Bangkok can’t be used for motorboats but on the outskirts, where passenger canal boats aren’t used, they can be. They’re easy to navigate as they’re straight and flat. In this video I explain all of the main attributes of Sokar and how to Giza Plateau is stongly connected to Sokar, how the Sphinx must be a giant Aker lion, why the bedrock road beneath the Khafre causeway is likely the processional walkway used in Sokar's Henu Barque festival, how the Valley Temple was likely a Temple of Sokar, the Sphinx Temple was the Henu Barque Sanctuary and also how the famous Osiris Shaft could well be the ceremonial tomb of Sokar.
But there is one thing missing in Sokar's Ceremonial landscape - a representation of the Mound of Creation aka the Primeval Mound and that may well be the Great Pyramid. If the Great Pyramid was also part of the ceremonial landscape, it may mean it is the oldest structure on the Giza Plateau.

Toros para Todos asiste al impresionante embarque en avión de los toros de la ganadería Miura de Lora del Río (Sevilla) para la plaza de Acho en Lima (Perú).
Espectacular reportaje con imágenes de los míticos toros bravos embarcando en el campo de Zahariche en cajones especiales de seguridad. Traslado de las reses en camión al aeropuerto de Sevilla y subida de los toros voladores a la bodega del avión con rumbo a Sudamérica en vuelo directo a Lima. Veinticuatro toros de cuatro ganaderías de España vuelan desde Andalucía hasta Perú durante nueve horas. Doce mil kilómetros les separan hasta la plaza de toros más antigua de América. Lima celebra el bicentenario del coso taurino de Acho.
2015: 23 de octubre. Amanece en la finca Zahariche de los Miura en Lora del Río (Sevilla). Ganaderos, mayoral y vaqueros se preparan en el patio del cortijo para un nuevo embarque de toros con un destino inquietante: Lima (Perú). Los Miura llevan muchos años sin viajar a Lima dice el mayoral. Son 94 años sin ir a la plaza bicentenaria de Acho, precisa Enrique Romero.
El viaje de astados a América requiere medidas especiales de seguridad y superar la cuarentena. En el avión los toros van acompañados por el veterinario aclara Eduardo Miura.
Con la salida del sol comienza el clásico embarque en el campo. Una tradición de leyenda que los hermanos ganaderos Eduardo y Antonio Miura mantienen como antaño con reses que conservan la conformación anatómica de principios del siglo XVIII.
El Relámpago, el caballista, abre camino a la parada de bueyes y cabestros que precede al grupo de astados para el embarque. En corrales concentración, silencio y minuciosas maniobras de los vaqueros con la ayuda de la garrocha, el señuelo y el hábil manejo de las puertas. El toro no puede derrotar en las paredes y romperse los pitones. Los Miuras para América conservarán las fundas hasta llegar a su destino.
Impresionante la entrada de los toros bravos en cajones. Para el vuelo de los Miura hasta Perú se han realizado cajas ex profeso en Toledo. Metálicas, con chapas muy reforzadas y resistentes para mayor seguridad y confort de los animales durante el largo trayecto.
Finaliza el embarque de toros en el campo de Lora. El camión parte en dirección al aeropuerto internacional de Sevilla.
Asombran los preparativos del vuelo, la carga y descarga del ganado bravo en las instalaciones del aeropuerto de Sevilla - San Pablo. Destaca la profesionalidad y el control de los técnicos de AENA ante tanto trasiego de material tan delicado. Previo a la subida del avión los operarios envuelven con una red metálica a los cajones reforzados de los toros y trasladan sobre una plataforma a los animales hasta la pista de despegue para subirlos con precisión a la bodega. 24 toros de 4 ganaderías esperan inquietos, ajenos, a ser subidos con elevadores a la aeronave de Lima. Junto a los Miura vuelan los toros andaluces de Álvaro Martínez Conradi de la ganadería de La Quinta, en su primer embarque americano.
Se ultiman los preparativos del transporte. Los cajones quedan anclados al fuselale del avión, en marcha el sistema hidráulico que permite que los toros no se resientan durante el trayecto… Son muchas las medidas de seguridad para afrontar con garantías tan prolongado viaje con animales bravos.
Finalmente despega con mucha expectación el avión de los toros Miura para América en vuelo directo Sevilla - Lima. Los toros españoles viajan para celebrar con los peruanos el 250 cumpleaños del coso taurino de Acho.

My people, today I will show you a country were even police drives around with gunmen for security. We'll visit the Guerrero state mountains, home of the largest heroine plantations in the country. We'll talk to local gang members, who weigh their cash, because it is quicker to count it that way.
These people don't just control a shop or a street, nope, not even districts, instead they control villages and towns!
It's the Guerrero State, where half of Mexico's heroine production takes place. Honestly, when I was on my way to Mexico, I had no idea this trip will turn out to be one of the most insane trips of my life, all due to the fact that Mexico is now experiencing a new evolution of drug wars, and today I'll visit cities with no army, no police, since it's narcos, who control them!

State of Mexico
The State of Mexico (Spanish: Estado de México, pronounced: [esˈtaðo ðe ˈmexiko]) is one of the 31 states which, with the Federal District, make up the 32 federal entities of Mexico. It is the most populous, as well as the most densely populated state. It is divided into 125 municipalities and its capital city is Toluca de Lerdo.
The State of Mexico is often abbreviated to "Edomex" from Estado de México in Spanish. It is located in South-Central Mexico. It is bordered by the states of Querétaro and Hidalgo to the north, Morelos and Guerrero to the south, Michoacán to the west, Tlaxcala and Puebla to the east, and surrounds the Federal District.
The state’s origins are in the territory of the Aztec Empire, which remained a political division of the New Spain during the Spanish colonial period. After Independence, Mexico City was chosen as the capital of the new nation; its territory was separated out of the state. Years later, parts of the state were broken off to form the states of Hidalgo, Guerrero and Morelos. These territorial separations have left the state with the size and shape it has today, with the Toluca Valley to the west of Mexico City and a panhandle that extends around the north and east of this entity.

➡️ The combination of cool nights and sunshine make Baja an ideal spot for more intense red varieties. There are so many different varietals ranging from Sauvignon Blanc to Cabernet Sauvignon, but there is a clear favorite among many winemakers and sommeliers: Nebbiolo.
🍇 Nebbiolo has adapted well in the Valle, but just a few years back they were saying the same thing about Tempranillo. What is exciting is that winemakers can be creative and come up with extremely exciting blends
➡️ The mix of international grapes is increasing, the oldest vines in the region are Carignan, Grenache and Mission. Some winemakers believe these varieties also hold the key to Mexico’s wine future as they are the best adapted to the environment.
➡️ The character of Mexican wines depends on the vineyard site. It has a huge mix of soils that have been brought to the surface by the action of the colliding tectonic plates in this highly active seismic area. The most remarkable feature are the ginormous boulders that are strewn around the valley. It looks like the aftermath of giants having snowball fights, with rocks.

Hey frenz,
I know that for a lot of you 2020 has seemed like an absolute crapshoot. We've all lost people or know friends who have lost people and some days it just feels like we're just trying to outrun the sadness of it all. A few weeks ago it was announced that Adam Schlesinger of Fountains Of Wayne passed away. I never met him and he had no idea who my band was, but the songs he wrote with Fountains of Wayne have been weaving themselves into the fabric of my writing process since I was a teenager. It's so interesting how pop music seems so frivilous and disposable until you find yourself in a situation that only the right song can save you from. I loved Adam's band and I loved his songs. After I heard he passed I just grabbed a guitar and starting playing everything I could remember that he had written. In this weird way I was trying to hang on to his songs in case they somehow decided to leave with him. His songs were a textbook for me in music and life when I really needed one, and his loss is still felt in our tiny little corner of North Carolina.
I got some friends together during quarantine to do a cover of one of my favorite songs Adam wrote. I was lucky enough to have Davey Davenport, J. Stephens and Scott Kerr from Five Iron Frenzy come on board to play this one with me and do a little track swapping. It was a really fun reminder to me that songs are shared experiences just floating around the universe waiting to happen to us, and we can be a part of them any time we want, even during a pandemic. Adam had an amazing way of telling people's stories and reaching out through his songs as if to say "I see you." I'll never forget the way Adam's songs made me feel seen, and I can't think of a better gift to leave behind than that...

An enthusiastic longtail boatman shows off the blistering speed of his engine on a canal in western Thailand.
Manop Ruaprasert, 25, took his boat onto a canal in Ratchaburi and showed off the extreme speed and manoeuvrability of his craft, as well as his skill and reflexes as a boatman.
He bought the wooden body of the boat then modified it by attaching a 1-litre car engine which is more powerful than the standard 150cc drag racing engines.
Manop's boat, which he modified himself, can reach speeds of more than 100kmh. He started for fun when he was in his late teens.
The canals in central Bangkok can’t be used for motorboats but on the outskirts, where passenger canal boats aren’t used, they can be. They’re easy to navigate as they’re straight and flat.

Hopefully you saw my last video, which looked at a number of structures on the Giza Plateau that seem to pre-date the 4th Dynasty, linked here: https://youtu.be/O63vOsfPbtE
These structures include the bedrock pathway beneath the Khafre causeway, the Valley Temple, the Sphinx, the Sphinx Temple, the Khafre proto-mortuary temple and also the Tomb of Khentkawes and the Tomb of Kai.
But if these structures all pre-date the Giza pyramids, then surely they had an important religious or ceremonial purpose for the powerful kings of the 4th Dynasty to built their royal necropolis at this site... and it appears that it did.
The ancient name for Giza was Rostau, also the name given to the 5th hour of the Underworld or Duat, which was guarded by an Aker lion, or a pair of lions and it was ruled by the ancient god Sokar, who would eventually go on to become Osiris.
In this video I explain all of the main attributes of Sokar and how to Giza Plateau is stongly connected to Sokar, how the Sphinx must be a giant Aker lion, why the bedrock road beneath the Khafre causeway is likely the processional walkway used in Sokar's Henu Barque festival, how the Valley Temple was likely a Temple of Sokar, the Sphinx Temple was the Henu Barque Sanctuary and also how the famous Osiris Shaft could well be the ceremonial tomb of Sokar.
But there is one thing missing in Sokar's Ceremonial landscape - a representation of the Mound of Creation aka the Primeval Mound and that may well be the Great Pyramid. If the Great Pyramid was also part of the ceremonial landscape, it may mean it is the oldest structure on the Giza Plateau.

Toros para Todos asiste al impresionante embarque en avión de los toros de la ganadería Miura de Lora del Río (Sevilla) para la plaza de Acho en Lima (Perú).
Espectacular reportaje con imágenes de los míticos toros bravos embarcando en el campo de Zahariche en cajones especiales de seguridad. Traslado de las reses en camión al aeropuerto de Sevilla y subida de los toros voladores a la bodega del avión con rumbo a Sudamérica en vuelo directo a Lima. Veinticuatro toros de cuatro ganaderías de España vuelan desde Andalucía hasta Perú durante nueve horas. Doce mil kilómetros les separan hasta la plaza de toros más antigua de América. Lima celebra el bicentenario del coso taurino de Acho.
2015: 23 de octubre. Amanece en la finca Zahariche de los Miura en Lora del Río (Sevilla). Ganaderos, mayoral y vaqueros se preparan en el patio del cortijo para un nuevo embarque de toros con un destino inquietante: Lima (Perú). Los Miura llevan muchos años sin viajar a Lima dice el mayoral. Son 94 años sin ir a la plaza bicentenaria de Acho, precisa Enrique Romero.
El viaje de astados a América requiere medidas especiales de seguridad y superar la cuarentena. En el avión los toros van acompañados por el veterinario aclara Eduardo Miura.
Con la salida del sol comienza el clásico embarque en el campo. Una tradición de leyenda que los hermanos ganaderos Eduardo y Antonio Miura mantienen como antaño con reses que conservan la conformación anatómica de principios del siglo XVIII.
El Relámpago, el caballista, abre camino a la parada de bueyes y cabestros que precede al grupo de astados para el embarque. En corrales concentración, silencio y minuciosas maniobras de los vaqueros con la ayuda de la garrocha, el señuelo y el hábil manejo de las puertas. El toro no puede derrotar en las paredes y romperse los pitones. Los Miuras para América conservarán las fundas hasta llegar a su destino.
Impresionante la entrada de los toros bravos en cajones. Para el vuelo de los Miura hasta Perú se han realizado cajas ex profeso en Toledo. Metálicas, con chapas muy reforzadas y resistentes para mayor seguridad y confort de los animales durante el largo trayecto.
Finaliza el embarque de toros en el campo de Lora. El camión parte en dirección al aeropuerto internacional de Sevilla.
Asombran los preparativos del vuelo, la carga y descarga del ganado bravo en las instalaciones del aeropuerto de Sevilla - San Pablo. Destaca la profesionalidad y el control de los técnicos de AENA ante tanto trasiego de material tan delicado. Previo a la subida del avión los operarios envuelven con una red metálica a los cajones reforzados de los toros y trasladan sobre una plataforma a los animales hasta la pista de despegue para subirlos con precisión a la bodega. 24 toros de 4 ganaderías esperan inquietos, ajenos, a ser subidos con elevadores a la aeronave de Lima. Junto a los Miura vuelan los toros andaluces de Álvaro Martínez Conradi de la ganadería de La Quinta, en su primer embarque americano.
Se ultiman los preparativos del transporte. Los cajones quedan anclados al fuselale del avión, en marcha el sistema hidráulico que permite que los toros no se resientan durante el trayecto… Son muchas las medidas de seguridad para afrontar con garantías tan prolongado viaje con animales bravos.
Finalmente despega con mucha expectación el avión de los toros Miura para América en vuelo directo Sevilla - Lima. Los toros españoles viajan para celebrar con los peruanos el 250 cumpleaños del coso taurino de Acho.

2015: 23 de octubre. Toros de lidia de la ganadería de Miura de Lora del Río (Sevilla) embarcan en avión en vuelo directo hacia Lima (Perú) desde el aeropuerto de Sevilla. Tras 94 de ausencia los míticos toros Miura viajan a la plaza de Acho, la más antigua de América, con motivo de su 250 aniversario.
España exporta veinticuatro toneladas de ganado bravo de cuatro ganaderías a América.
2015: 8 de noviembre. Segunda corrida de la feria taurina del Señor de los Milagros en la Plaza de Acho de Lima (Perú) con los toreros españoles Rafael Rubio "Rafaelillo", Manuel Escribano y Paco Ureña, el triunfador de la tarde, y 6 toros de la mítica ganadería Miura de Sevilla (Andalucía, España).
2015: Del 1 al 29 de noviembre. Celebración del 250 aniversario de la plaza de toros de Acho de Lima (Perú) con reses de lidia de 4 ganaderías de España: Zalduendo, Miura, Daniel Ruiz y La Quinta junto a la peruana Roberto Puga.
