Somewhere in a plush South Bombay night club a young 22 year old over doses on drugs. Somewhere else a drunken 20 year old runs over sleeping street dwellers. Somewhere else a small group of 18 year olds get into a rabid fight after a rock concert - the rich in the city are getting richer by the day - their crimes are getting more random & more uncontrollable - the cops in the city are not able to deal with it - they cannot relate to the rich youth - they cannot understand their problems & they cannot help them in any possible way. Not only can they not understand or relate to them but they are also unable to investigate these crimes thanks to the clout and connections the rich criminals have. And this leads to immense frustration in the police force. Senior Inspector Damodar Deshmukh is one such frustrated, honest cop who is unable to deal with the aggravation of having unsolved cases which remain unsolved because of the various obstructions that the rich are able to put in the path of his investigations. But what is one lone cop to do? Specially when he has no access to the worlds of the rich -- in fact he has no access into their minds either. As he puts it, he can still understand crimes which have a motivation of hunger, greed, need -- crimes committed daily by the poor, the dispossessed, the homeless. Thai-Poosam Thiruvila, which is considered, by far, the most important festival at Palani, is celebrated on the full moon day of the Tamil Month of Thai (15 January-15 February). Pilgrims after first having taken a strict vow of abstinence, come barefoot, by walk, from distant towns and villages. Many pilgrims also bring a litter of wood, called a Kāvadi, borne on their shoulders, in commemoration of the act of the demon Hidumba who is credited by legend with bringing the two hills of Palani to their present location, slung upon his shoulders in a similar fashion. Others bring pots of sanctified water, known as theertha-kāvadi, for the priests to conduct the abhishekam on the holy day. Traditionally, the most honoured of the pilgrims, whose arrival is awaited with anticipation by all and sundry, are the people of Karaikudi, who bring with them the diamond-encrusted vél or javelin, of the Lord from His temple at Karaikudi.

Syracuse Lava Project
On January 22, 2011, the fifth lava pour took place using the #700 gas fired tilt furnace operated by the SU Sculpture Program. This 610lb pour was the most successful to date in terms of material consistency, volume, duration of pour, viscosity, duration of flow, structure of flow, etc. The lava was poured on to a 6” thick block of ice measuring 3.5’ by 10’. This pour was conducted for Prof. Ben Edwards, Dickinson College Earth Sciences Department. Prof. Edwards is a specialist in the area of lava and ice interaction.
On February 12, 2011, Pour No. 6 will take place on a large block of ice and through a series of ice tunnels. The SU Lava Project is a joint research venture between SU Earth Sciences and SU Sculpture. Here is their original story - Well, if you want to know my story on the job heres how one went... I was sent to pick up a phone call. i said "Hello, Welcome to [Private..Don't want to Expose my job] How may I help you?" The Customer said "Hello? Is this Target?" "um, i'm sorry but this is [Job]. If you want t-" "NO THIS ISN'T! THIS IS TARGET!" after a little argument the aggravating women finally hanged up. later, that SAME women came to our store and started complaining that Target was originally here and we never existed. We told her that Target was Right around the corner and never moved. But she just kept on Complaining.. She came inside the store and 'vandalized' it. when we got security to take her back to her car, we can clearly see that she just came from Target. She had 5 Bags filled with things.
