1-5 Germanic Tribes 1 - Barbarians Against Romans
Germania, Germani, Germanica have all been used to refer to the group of peoples comprising of the German Tribes in the first centuries CE (AD), We have good and reliable written information from the Roman author Tacitus' Germania and Agricola, as well as other sources. The Migration Period, also called Barbarian Invasions or Völkerwanderung, is a name given by historians to a human migration which occurred within the period of roughly AD 300--700 in Europe, marking the transition from Late Antiquity to the Early Middle Ages. The migration included the Goths, Vandals, and Franks, among other Germanic, Bulgar and Slavic tribes. The migration may have been triggered by the incursions of the Huns (not a Germanic tribe), in turn connected to the Turkic migration in Central Asia, population pressures, or climate changes. The migration movement may be divided into two phases; the first phase, between AD 300 and 500, largely seen from the Mediterranean perspective, put Germanic peoples in control of most areas of the former Western Roman Empire. (See also: Ostrogoths, Visigoths, Burgundians, Alans, Langobards, Angles, Saxons, Jutes, Suebi, Alamanni). The first to formally enter Roman territory — as refugees from the Huns — were the Visigoths in 376. Tolerated by the Romans on condition that they defend the Danube frontier, they rebelled, eventually invading Italy and sacking Rome itself (410) before settling in Iberia and founding a 200-year-long kingdom there. Germanic Tribes
The Germanic peoples are a historical group of Indo-European-speaking peoples, originating in Northern Europe and identified by their use of the Germanic languages which diversified out of Common Germanic in the course of the Pre-Roman Iron Age. The Germanic-speaking peoples of the Iron Age and the Migration Period display a uniform material culture and common religious beliefs, even though recent scholarship has contested the existence of a distinct Germanic ethnicity. Migrating Germanic peoples spread throughout Europe in Late Antiquity and in the Dark Ages Germanic languages became dominant along the Roman borders Austria, Germany, Netherlands, England, but in the rest of the western Roman provinces, the Germanic immigrants adopted Latin (Romance) dialects. Furthermore, all Germanic peoples eventually converted to Christianity. The Germanic people played an important role in transforming the Roman empire into Medieval Europe, and they contributed in developing a common identity, history, and culture which transgressed the linguistic borders.

GERMANS - GERMANIA Tribute - [E Nomine - Schwarze Sonne]
The Germans (German: Deutsche) are people descended from several Germanic tribes that inhabited what became the German-speaking part of Europe, which was collectively known as Germany. With the founding of the modern nation-state of Germany in 1871, which didn't include all of German-speaking Europe, the term Germans came to primarily mean residents of that country. Within modern Germany, Germans in this narrow sense have been defined by citizenship (Federal Germans, Bundesdeutsche), distinguished from people of German ancestry (Deutschstämmige). Historically, in the context of the German Empire (1871--1918) and later, German citizens (Imperial Germans, Reichsdeutsche) were distinguished from ethnic Germans (Volksdeutsche). Of approximately 100 million native speakers of German in the world, about 66--75 million consider themselves Germans. There are an additional 80 million people of German ancestry mainly in the United States, Brazil, Canada, Argentina, France, Russia, Chile, Poland, Australia and Romania who most likely are not native speakers of German.

Slavic Tribes vs Germanic Tribes - Saint Alexander Nevsky
www.youtube.com Saint Alexander Nevsky - Canonized in 1547 - Alexander was the grandson of Vsevolod the Big Nest and rose to legendary status on account of his victories over the Germanic tribes integrated by German and Swedish while employing collaborationist policies towards the powerful Golden Horde. His power was a part of the power of Samson and God gave him the wisdom of Solomon and was proclaimed Saint of the Russian Orthodox Church. Alexander policies - After the Livonian invasion, Nevsky continued to strengthen Russia's Northwest. He sent his envoys to Norway and, as a result, signed a first peace treaty between Russia and Norway in 1251. Alexander led his army to Finland and successfully routed the Swedes. An important historical issue was the paying of a tribute to the Khan (Mongols) in exchange the Mongols kept separate from Russian society and Russian territory "Golden Horde" until 1502, such action kept the European and Christian identity of Russia intact during the disastrous Mongol invasion of Rus. Alexander massacred Swedish,German and Muslim in the name of Christ and kept Germanic invaders out of Russia. The paying of tribute to Mongols kept Mongols out of Russia until the disintegration of the Golden Horde, that kept a Slavic Russian and Russian Orthodox Christian society intact until 1502 and born the Tsardom of Russia in 1547.

Germanic tribes were NOT Aryans... Paleolithic Continuity Paradigm
www.Sun-Wheel-Magick.com http www.continuitas.org If this is your first time on my channel, please watch the videos for the Paleolithic Continuity Paradigm...Sorry for beating a dead horse. However, some people have contacted me with questions about the origins of the Aryan tribes. Even though I tried to be clear in earlier videos that ALL indo-Europeans are descended from proto Indo-European tribes who migrated into the northern hemisphere from Africa 50000 years ago, some people still have a difficult time accepting the idea that the Aryans were also originally from paleolithic Africa. This is because the so-called "Aryan Race" nonsense that has been taught in some form or other for hundreds of years is so deeply ingrained in the minds of Westerners that it is difficult to imagine that Aryans were an independent Indo-European culture that evolved without any contact with Western European tribes (Germanics, Celtics, Slavics, etc...) The race of the Aryan tribes is also irrelevant since they too were descended from dark-skinned, African, proto Indo-Europeans. If the Aryans were light-skinned similar to Europeans, that is only coincidental based on thousands of years of adaptation in similar Ice Age climates as in Europe. Their DNA would most like have been very different from Europeans. The Aryans and the Europeans had no contact and did not influence each other... but they DO share a common paleolithic African genesis which is reflected in their similar languages ...

The Germanic Tribes: The Complete Four-Hour Saga
This acclaimed multi-million dollar four-part series shows the rise of the tribes of a primitive culture on the fringe of northern Europe to become the heirs of the Roman Empire. For a long time the view of the Germanic people of many peoples was distorted by the Germanic cult of the 19th century and the Nazi dictatorship. Due to new methods and discoveries, research is now able to present a different picture of the Germanic tribes. Many clichés about the barbarians of the North have to be discarded as myths. The linchpin of Germanic history is the conflict with the Roman Empire. Since the age of Caesar this Roman-Germanic conflict was characterized not only by fierce battles but also by phases of co-existence and cooperation. The Germans dug the grave of the Roman Empire, but were also the preservers of the Roman legacy. The series breathes new life into the little known world of the Germanic tribes. We see how they lived, fought and worshipped their gods. Intricate 3D animation shows how they built their settlements, buried their kings and vanquished their enemies. Roman cities such as the ancient Cologne, home of the Romanophile Germans, and the Roman limes, the border to free Germania, are also reconstructed through magnificent computer graphics and full cast reenactments. This entertaining and informative DVD presents the definitive history of the Germanic people. Please visit www.kultur.com for more information on this program

This mod, Roma Surrectum 1.6 really rocks, each republican & imperial legion has its name & number accordingly, for ex: Legio II Augusta & each legion has different shield designs & colors, its has many more settlements & more tougher units. I always thought SPQR mod is the best RTW mod untill i played this one. This is a test battle on custom, i used Legio IV Scythica & some Praetorian Guard units against a Germanic army. OFFF Barcelona 2011 Main Titles
Still shocked and excited from last night, it's an honor for us to show you this absolutely MINDBLOWING TITLES made for OFFF by PostPanic.
Thank you so much to PostPanic, and specially to Mischa Rozema, Ania Markham and Si Scott, simply epic!!!
Written by Mischa Rozema and British graphic designer, Si Scott, the opening titles reflect their dark thoughts on a possible future. Directed by Mischa and shot on location in Prague, the film guides the viewer through a grim scenario embedded with the names of artists appearing at this year’s OFFF festival. The live action was brought back to Amsterdam for post, primarily carried out by PostPanic’s in-house team of artists but also with the additional help of freelancers and partner companies that we have enjoyed strong creative relationships with over the years. It’s really fair to say that this was a labour of love by a passionate crew of people.
Says Ania Markham, Executive Producer at PostPanic:
“The images created by the crew of people working on the titles has been unbelievable, with nationalities represented including Dutch, Czech, English, American, Polish, German, Swedish and Belgian. It’s been a great opportunity for all of us to work together on a non-commercial project we’re passionate about and we’re so proud of the combined effort and final result.”
DIRECTORS NOTES (Mischa Rozema)
This project started out as a collaboration between myself and Si Scott. Right from the start, we decided that it should be the darkest thing we could make. I think it just felt natural to the both of us; if we had to nail the future, it would not be a nice place.
This idea evolved into a clash of times. Inspired by an idea from the late Arthur C. Clarke. He wrote about different historical civilizations meeting in a single point in time. So what happens when civilizations meet? The 'weaker' one gets eaten by the 'stronger'. You only have to look at history to see the destructive power of civilizations.
So the main underlying idea is: what would happen if the future lands on our doorstep today? Let's take mankind, add perhaps 100 years and then let them show up on our doorstep today. The future would pretty much devour the present. Probably in a matter of, let's say, 7 days… So that's what we're looking at. But every ending also means a new beginning, hence Year Zero.
There's all kinds of hidden messages in there. Like the virus eating away at reality, buildings and people, even at the viewers brain. It's behaving off course much like a computer virus. And the network of wires represents the future of social networking. I just made it physical and let it 'catch' the city and it's people like a net. All these ideas just serve as inspiration for us to create a future that worked for this concept. They're not meant to be deciphered by the audience. It's still meant to be just a title sequence and not an actual movie.
Now what makes a good title sequence? Personally, I think it's something that gets you in the mood, warms you up for what you're about to experience, be it a film, tv series or in our case, the OFFF festival. We decided to treat the OFFF festival as a feature film experience. So all we had to do was get the viewer into the right state of mind. Without, of course, being too narrative led. The best title sequences out there are nothing but a random collection of images/scenes that don't tell a lot if you watch them on their own. But edit them together and a new context is created. A context that matters, a feeling that gets the viewer ready for the main event, in our case, the festival.
To get started, the next thing we did was make a collection of ideas that would scare me and Si. So, anything drawn from our youth, right through to stuff that's inspired us over the years as well as seemingly random compositions that trigger the imagination of the viewer. For example, when we show you the aesthetics of a car explosion, it's carefully constructed. Why a car and not something else? Because an exploding car brings extra content to an otherwise simple aesthetic display of violence. A car doesn't explode by itself so instantly the brain tries to formulate the background behind it. It adds an either political or criminal edge to the violence. To me it felt appropriate because of the sense of protest and rebellion the shot has. And maybe the biggest question; was there someone in the car and if so, who was it? For me, every idea should provoke these kind of questions; from a girl in a prom dress holding a rocket launcher to a riot cop standing in the kitchen. All scenes have a pre and post story to them. In no time you're actually trying to connect these seemingly random scenes and boom; you've just created your own strange context. You now have a feeling, a taste and lots of questions probably. Questions that normally would be answered by watching the actual movie. But since there's no actual movie here we'll leave stranded with, hopefully,

A timelapse message from ISS to all Humankind. - 2K version available on my blog: http://wp.me/p2fVm6-bv
I wanted to use pictures taken from the International Space Station to tell a story and share the message sent by the astronauts who worked on the station in the last 11 years.
They are working to open a Gateway to Space for all humankind, but people on Earth must understand that they have to get rid of the concept of borders on our planet if they want to follow the astronauts to new worlds in outer space. While the cosmonauts speak a day passes on Earth, from dawn to sunset, until the Gateway opens with a burst of light. The ISS then gains speed and goes faster and faster, the astronauts are leaving our planet which they see spinning faster and faster, merging earth, oceans and people together, ready to follow them, Further Up Yonder.
Making of
As a filmmaking student, this was my first attempt to craft a timelapse video. It has been a time consuming process, but it turned out as one of my most satisfying projects.
I focused my workflow on colours and harmony of movements, syncing every frame with the music and the voices of the astronauts. Every picture has been post processed individually before being imported in the NLE software, as I tried to take the most out of every image in terms of colours, contrast and neatiness.
Pictures were downloaded from the Image Science & Analysis Laboratory, NASA Johnson Space Center and edited with Photoshop CS6. Even if they were Hi-res images shot with Nikon D3S cameras, a lot of noise removal and color correction was needed, especially for those shots at ISO 3200, which was the highest ISO speed limit I've allowed myself to use, exception made for the last sequence of the spinning world, which comes from a sequenze of shots taken at ISO 12800. Daytime shots were taken at ISO 200. I've used Topaz Denoise 5 for noise removal, as it is very powerful and accurate when dealing with shadows and blacks.
Editing was made with Adobe Premiere CS6, with a 2K workflow, which allowed me to scale, rotate and pan image sequences whose native resolution is 4K. The video was downscaled to 1280x720 resolution for Vimeo. The original 2K version is available for download on my blog (link on top of this description).

HBTV: Depth of Speed - Simple Soul
Depth of Speed was born from a desire of story, travel, and a love of anything automotive related. Next year my wife and I will be taking to the streets to uncover and document the greatest stories from the automotive world. From coast-to-coast and from top to bottom, finding the best stories will take the highest priority. Every time I meet someone new or attend an event I amazed at the depth, passion, and love that the automotive world brings. Depth of Speed is just that, an in-depth look at these stories. There is something about motors and machines, that to an outsider looking in, would make us seem plain crazy.
We have begun the process of outfitting our trusty Scamp trailer to traverse the entire country. Known affectionately as a fiberglass egg, our Scamp will be our home for one year of our lives. At only 13 feet long it will make for a cozy year.
The relationship of car and owner once again comes to the forefront of this episode of Depth of Speed with Josh Clason. Craig Johnson represents a long list of devout Volkswagen fanatics who have carried on the legacy of several iconic products from the German carmaker. Known as "the people's car," Johnson's relationship with the VW T1 is highlighted as we're treated to another cinematic gem.

Isenseven - "Don't Panic!" TEASER
Don't Panic! Yes, you should not panic. Why panic? Things are good, aren't they? Speaking of "things"...."Don't Panic!" is also the name for IsenSevens 2010 movie.
We travelled to powdery Euro resorts, snowed-in German and Scandinavian cities, slushy California parks, Russian ghettos and all kinds of other fun places.....except Vegas. No snow there this year.
With a bunch of new riders, familiar faces and new additions to the production team, we regrouped to form a snowboard-movie-super-alliance which even the United Nations couldn't shake a stick at.
Equipped with fancy schmancy cameras and cool cranes/jibs/dollys/cable cams/filming monkeys we set out to make yet another fine movie filled with the typical fun riding, banger bangers, people doing stupid things, rails, pow, park, bright and flashy colors and little snow caves.
This years team consists of the usual suspects Fredrik Evensen, Christophe Schmidt, Ludwig Lejkner, Fips & Tobi Strauss, Alex Tank, Tom Klocker, Marco Smolla and the new additions of the swiss connection Colin Frei & David Bertschinger Karg, Austro kicker machine Benny Wetscher, Norwegian viking Sindre Iversen, Italian supermodel Simon Gruber, Scotlands real Braveheart Gary Greenshields and Norwegian super-kid Gjermund Bråten. So be sure to bring your barf bags cause there's going to be some spinning that will make you dizzy!
The movie will be released mid September and the whole gang can't wait to show you their new baby.
