www.stuccoplastering.com https 510 521-9546 Kirk Giordano Plastering Inc. Howdy folks, the building contractor repaired a leaking pipe in the bathroom inside this plaster home. I was hired to lath and apply two coats of plaster with a finish to match the existing plaster texture. I used a product called Rapid Set Cement; it's a High Performance, fast setting Cement. EISENWALL, can be placed in thicknesses from 3/8 in. to 2 in.+ in one coat. I don't recommend anyone other than a licensed certified installer use this product. (That means you have to go through the training seminar for a certification). Although I have seen these product now in home depot which are more user friendly, and they don't require certifications. After the stucco had a chance to cure properly, (30 days) the home owner then painted as usual by first applying a primer sealer and then a second coat of paint. He used Kelly Moore elastomeric paint, which is great for all your exterior needs. Proportions are clearly spelled out in ASTM C 926, Application of Portland Cement-Based Plaster. [www.astm.org] Scratch coats are mixed at 1 part cement to 2-1/4 to 4 parts sand, brown coats are mixed at 1 part cement to 3 to 5 parts sand, We usually mix this ratio but will sometime double the amount of cement if we are applying stucco to ceilings. (Helps the stucco adhere better and faster while hanging upside down) Step by step stucco applications. Lath and plaster big holes in stucco. Thank you for reading or ...

How to apply heavy stucco textures, heavy dash finish
www.StuccoPlastering.com https (510) 521 - 9546 Kirk Giordano Plastering Inc. Hello guys and gals. In this video I will show how we finish an incomplete project. The previous contractor lathed and scratched (well, sort of) this job, and the homeowner was unhappy with their performance so they called me back to finish the job. A good thing too! After we performed some exploration we found many areas that had not been waterproofed properly which would have been a major problem down the line. The most interesting thing about this house, aside from its incredible garden, is the heavy tunnel dash finish. Its an unusual finish, that can be incredibly difficult to match if you do not know how to do it. The previous contractor attempted a sample of this texture over a piece of sheet rock, which is near impossible as you need a cementitious base layer to give the dash the proper suction. Without that, you will never match the drip patterns. You must also apply two coats of dash, a heavier base coat, and a more watery second coat that will run or drip down the mountains you have created, achieving the dripping tunnel dash finish. How to apply heavy stucco textures, heavy dash finish. We had a lot of fun working on this job, I hope you guys enjoy watching the video! Thanks for reading and watching, we will see you on the next one! Kirk Giordano Plastering

How to remove and reinstall new stucco with an acrylic 3 coat stucco system
www.StuccoPlastering.com (510) 521 - 9546 Kirk Giordano Plastering Inc. Howdy guys and gals, in this video I explains start to finish plastering a new home. On this home we first applied the lath. Two layers of paper with 17 gauge wire. After the lath inspection, we applied the scratch coat. We let the scratch coat cure a week as it was during winter. Next we applied the brown coat (it not really the color brown it's just called brown coat meaning second coat) which we let cure for 4 to 5 weeks as we were in no hurry and the home owners had not decided on a color or if they wanted an acrylic or La Habra finish. Finally we applied an acrylic Sand Finish. The advantages of acrylic are mainly its water resistance and flexible while also being maintenance free. Some folks don't like to seal their stucco home while some do. As a stucco applicator I apply whatever stucco finish coat is preferred by the client. Stucco advantages? Stucco is extremely durable and will outlast Vinyl, wood and brick, which makes it a better choice to other sidings. Stucco is excellent for extreme temperature changes also, like snow, rain and even scorching heat waves. Stucco is also fire, mold and mildew resistant. Stucco is maintenance free, (if it has a color coat). Folks save on insulation and insurance cost too (R value, for insulation.) Plus it never goes out of style, making stucco a great value for your investment over time. Thank you for reading or watching, and have a great day! Kirk ...

www.StuccoPlastering.com (510) 521 - 9546 Kirk Giordano Plastering Inc. Hello folks. In this video I show you the proper way to stucco over bricks. This same method works for cinder blocks too. First we hung our corner aid over the top where we wanted to create a sharp corner. It is possible to make your corners free hand, but this takes so much more time and effort, trust me when I say it is worth it to add the corner aid! Then you must prepare the surface right, a powerful pressure washer works best to remove all the dust and dirt from the bricks. Then we applied a coat of weld create, and we skim coated the brick wall. We then gave it a float finish. How to apply a skim coat of stucco over bricks or cinder blocks. The Royal Castle - from Destruction to Reconstruction
The exhibition at the Royal Castle in Warsaw / Poland.
http://www.novinastudio.pl
The Royal Castle in Warsaw, being a symbol of the sovereignty of the Polish State, became a target for German military attacks as early as in the first days of the World War II. On 17 September 1939 it was in flames. Apart from the firemen and city wardens, also soldiers, harcerze (scouts) and civilians were helping to put the fire out. At the same time Polish museum workers and conservators, risking their own lives, were trying to salvage the most precious art collections, as well as decorative elements from the most important Castle rooms (eg. fragments of flooring, fireplaces, stucco works and frescos). The act of destruction was completed during the Warsaw Uprising in September 1944, when German sappers blasted the Castle walls.
Decision to begin the reconstruction was however not made until January 1971. In 1977 first interiors were ready. The next ones were delivered in July 1984. The rebuilding of the Castle was accompanied by an immense involvement of the Polish nation. The whole investment was financed almost in full with the money coming from donations of Poles at home and abroad.
Handing the reconstructed Castle to the nation was an act of honouring all of those, who, during the Occupation, with greatest dedication and risking their own lives, salvaged the Castle and the Castle art works for the future generations.

Toledo, Spain
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Founded 7th century
Toledo (Latin: Toletum) is a municipality located in central Spain, 70 km south of Madrid. It is the capital of the province of Toledo and of the autonomous community of Castile-La Mancha. It was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986 for its extensive cultural and monumental heritage as one of the former capitals of the Spanish Empire and place of coexistence of Christian, Jewish and Moorish cultures. Many famous people and artists were born or lived in Toledo, including Al-Zarqali, Garcilaso de la Vega, Alfonso X and El Greco. It was also the place of important historic events such as the Visigothic Councils of Toledo. As of 2007, the city has a population of 78,618 and an area of 232.1 km² (89.59 square miles).
Toledo once served as the capital city of Visigothic Spain, beginning with Liuvigild (Leovigild), and was the capital until the Moors conquered Iberia in the 8th century. Under the Caliphate of Cordoba, Toledo enjoyed a golden age. This extensive period is known as La Convivencia, i.e. the co-existence of Jews, Christians, and Muslims. Under Arab rule, Toledo was called Tulaytulah (Arabic طليطلة, academically transliterated Ṭulayṭulah).
On May 25, 1085 Alfonso VI of Castile took Toledo and established direct personal control over the Moorish city from which he had been exacting tribute, and ending the mediaeval Taifa's Kingdom of Toledo . This was the first concrete step taken by the combined kingdom of Leon-Castile in the Reconquista by Christian forces.
Toledo was famed for its production of iron and especially of swords and the city is still a center for the manufacture of knives and other steel implements. When Philip II moved the royal court from Toledo to Madrid in 1561, the old city went into a slow decline from which it never recovered.
Toledo's Alcázar became renowned in the 19th and 20th centuries as a military academy. At the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War in 1936 its garrison was famously besieged by Republican forces.
Arts and culture
Toledo reached its zenith in the era of Islamic Caliphate. Historian P. de Gayangos writes:
The Muslim scientists of this age were not rivaled in the world. Perhaps among their greatest feats were the famous waterlocks of Toledo.[1]
The old city is located on a mountaintop with a 150 degrees view, surrounded on three sides by a bend in the Tagus River, and contains many historical sites, including the Alcázar, the cathedral (the primate church of Spain), and the Zocodover, a central market place.
From the 4th century to the 16th century about thirty synods were held at Toledo. The earliest, directed against Priscillian, assembled in 400. At the synod of 589 the Visigothic King Reccared declared his conversion from Arianism; the synod of 633 decreed uniformity of liturgy throughout the Visigothic kingdom and took stringent measures against baptized Jews who had relapsed into their former faith. The council of 681 assured to the archbishop of Toledo the primacy of Spain.
As nearly one hundred early canons of Toledo found a place in the Decretum Gratiani, they exerted an important influence on the development of ecclesiastical law. The synod of 1565–1566 concerned itself with the execution of the decrees of the Council of Trent; and the last council held at Toledo, 1582–1583, was guided in detail by Philip II.
Toledo was famed for religious tolerance and had large communities of Muslims and Jews until they were expelled from Spain in 1492 (Jews) and 1502 (Muslims). Today's city contains the religious monuments the Synagogue of Santa María la Blanca, the Synagogue of El Transito, Mosque of Cristo de la Luz and the church of San Sebastián dating from before the expulsion, still maintained in good condition. Among Ladino-speaking Sephardi Jews, in their various diasporas, the family name Toledano is still prevalent - indicating an ancestry traced back to this city (the name is also attested among non-Jews in various Spanish-speaking countries).
In the 13th century, Toledo was a major cultural center under the guidance of Alfonso X, called "El Sabio" ("the Wise") for his love of learning. The program of translations, begun under Archbishop Raymond of Toledo, continued to bring vast stores of knowledge to Europe by rendering great academic and philosophical works in Arabic into Latin. The Palacio de Galiana, built in the Mudéjar style, is one of the monuments that remain from that period.
The Cathedral of Toledo (Catedral de Toledo) was built between 1226-1493 and modeled after the Bourges Cathedral, though it

Venetian Plaster Raffaello Decor stucco By OIKOS - Veneziano Application - Decofinish
RAFFAELLO DECOR STUCCO by OIKOS is a vapor permeable wall coating made from natural minerals (lime putty) and is ideal for recreating an ancient style of decoration, the so called "marble effect" or Venetian Plaster To achieve the perfect finish, apply the product in three coats using a stainless steel trowel by OIKOS. First coat: apply the first coat of RAFFAELLO DECOR STUCCO in such a way as to perfectly smooth over the surface. Wait for 6 to 8 hours until dry. Second coat: apply a very fine layer of product so as to render the surface perfectly smooth but matt. Wait 6-8 hours until dry. Final coat: apply a thin layer of product smoothing it at the same time onto the surface with the blade of the trowel. Depending on the tool utilised and the intensity of the application, it is possible to achieve a matt, satin or gloss finish.
