Diving at Flying Fish Cove, Christmas Island - March 2012
Christmas Island National Park, Parks Australia - Department of Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities Christmas Island's waters are home to spectacular marine life including hundreds of species of tropical fish, dolphins, whale sharks and beautiful corals. It's an underwater paradise, attracting divers from throughout the world. The island rises dramatically from the edge of the Java Trench, Indian Ocean's deepest point, contributing to the endless kilometres of spectacular drop-off diving with most walls being only 20 metres from the shoreline. Braydon Moloney has captured the beauty of this underwater world. For more information, please visit: parksaustralia.gov.au/christmas © 2012 Commonwealth of Australia

Stuart MacGill wines about Flying Fish Cove
When Damon Eastaugh was a kid, his parents had a winery in Margaret River. When they were working they probably didn't notice how much time he was spending on his surfboard... if they had, I guess they would have been pleased that he was getting so much exercise. They would never have imagined that whilst he would take on the family business and take it to new heights, he would also scale dizzying heights on his board, and do some seriously amazing things in the world of surfing.

Christmas Island - Indian Ocean
The Territory of Christmas Island is a territory of Australia in the Indian Ocean. It is located 2600 kilometres (1600 mi) northwest of the Western Australian city of Perth, 360 km (220 mi) south of the Indonesian capital, Jakarta, and 975 km (606 mi) ENE of the Cocos (Keeling) Islands. It has a population of 1403 residents who live in a number of "settlement areas" on the northern tip of the island: Flying Fish Cove (also known as Kampong), Silver City, Poon Saan, and Drumsite. The island's geographic isolation and history of minimal human disturbance has led to a high level of endemism among its flora and fauna, which is of significant interest to scientists and naturalists. 63% of its 135 square kilometres (52 sq mi) is an Australian national park. There exist large areas of primary monsoonal forest. Phosphate, deposited originally as dead marine organisms (not guano as often thought), has been mined on the island for many years (en.wikipedia.org Song: Llewellyn - Faerie Cottage Picture: upload.wikimedia.org

History of Nagorno Karabakh
In 1978 the Armenian Nagorno Karabakh Oblast erected a memorial dedicated to the 150 years of Armenian settlement in Karabagh. The settlement of Armenians took place after the adoption of the treaty of turkmenchay in 1828. The Armenians had arrived from a city in Iran, called Maragha, in fact a region of Karabagh was later renamed after Maragha. However the memorial only remained in this shape for only 10 years. By 1988 the inscription of the memorial was removed, this was done to manufacture a new history. A history that would be compatible with the territorial ambitions of Armenia. According to the taxation register of the Karabagh province, prepared by the Russian officials Yermolov and Mogilevsky, soon after the elimination of the Karabagh Khanate in 1823. The ethnic composition was 78.3% Azerbaijani and 21.7% Armenian. External link: today.az Disclaimer: In the comment section, make sure you dont spam and dont use inappropriate language.

An Introduction to Christmas Island Indian Ocean - Steven Tan Documentary 1977 (3/8)
The first attempt at exploring the island was in 1857 by the crew of the Amethyst. They tried to reach the summit of the island, but found the cliffs impassable. During the 1872--76 Challenger expedition to Indonesia, naturalist Dr John Murray carried out extensive surveys. In 1887, Captain Maclear of HMS Flying Fish, having discovered an anchorage in a bay that he named Flying Fish Cove, landed a party and made a small but interesting collection of the flora and fauna. In the next year, Pelham Aldrich, on board HMS Egeria, visited it for ten days, accompanied by JJ Lister, who gathered a larger biological and mineralogical collection. Among the rocks then obtained and submitted to Sir John Murray for examination were many of nearly pure phosphate of lime, a discovery which led to annexation of the island by the British Crown on 6 June 1888. Christmas Island ENVIRONMENTAL DISASTER Tycoon .mov
Weeks of calm weather saw the TYCOON sitting in Flying Fish Cove waiting to be removed while infighting about responsibility continued. With the inevitable worsening of weather, the Tycoon is now battered & leaking more oil & diesel into the once pristine waters of Christmas Island. The ship has broken up & debris AGAIN litters the beach & the smell of fuel etc is thick in the air. WHY IS IT STILL THERE? WHO IS RESPONSIBLE? WHEN WILL THEY BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THE NOW DOUBLE DISASTER? NO EXCUSE IS ACCEPTABLE!
