Denver (
/ˈdɛnvər/) (Arapaho: Niinéniiniicíihéhe' ) is the largest city and the capital of the U.S. state of Colorado. As Denver County, it is the second most populous county in Colorado after El Paso County, which surpassed Denver County as of the 2010 Census. Denver is a consolidated city-county, located in the South Platte River Valley on the western edge of the High Plains just east of the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains. The Denver downtown district is located immediately east of the confluence of Cherry Creek with the South Platte River, approximately 12 miles (19 km) east of the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. Denver is nicknamed the Mile-High City because its official elevation is exactly one mile (1.6 km) or 5,280 feet (1,609.344 m) above sea level, which is defined by the elevation of the spot of a benchmark on the steps of the State Capital building. The elevation of the entire city ranges from 5,130 to 5,680 feet. The 105th meridian west of Greenwich passes through Union Station and is the temporal reference for the Mountain Time Zone.

Woodside, California
Woodside is a small incorporated town in San Mateo County, California, United States, on the San Francisco Peninsula. It uses a council-manager system of government. The population of the town was 5,287 at the 2010 census.
Woodside is among the wealthiest communities in the United States.
The Woodside area was originally home to natives belonging to the Ohlone tribe. In 1769, led by Gaspar de Portolà, Spanish explorers searching for San Francisco Bay camped at a site near Woodside.
Woodside is located on the Rancho Cañada de Raymundo Mexican Land grant. Woodside is said to be the oldest English-speaking settlement in the southern part of the San Francisco Peninsula. The first English-speaking settlers arrived in the early 19th century to log the rich stands of redwoods. Charles Brown constructed the first sawmill in Woodside on his Mountain Home Ranch around 1838. His adobe house, built in 1839, still stands today. By mid-century, the Woodside area had a dozen mills producing building materials for a booming San Francisco.

Aaron Spelling
Aaron Spelling (April 22, 1923 – June 23, 2006) was an American film and television producer. As of 2009, Spelling's eponymous production company Spelling Television holds the record as the most prolific television writer, with 218 producer and executive producer credits.Forbes ranked him the 11th top-earning dead celebrity in 2009.
Spelling was born in Dallas, to Pearl (née Wald) and David Spelling (originally Spurling), a tailor, who were Jewish immigrants from Russia and Poland, respectively. Spelling had a brother, Daniel Spelling (died 2009), who lived in San Francisco, and who appeared on daughter Tori Spelling's television show Tori And Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood.[citation needed]
At the age of 8, Spelling lost the use of his legs psychosomatically, due to trauma caused by constant bullying from his schoolmates, and was confined to bed for a year. During this time, he read a vast number of books, which stimulated his imagination.[citation needed]
Spelling attended Forest Avenue High School, during WWII he served in the United States Armed Forces, and later attended Southern Methodist University, graduating in 1949, where he was a cheerleader. He married actress Carolyn Jones in 1953, and they moved to California. They divorced in 1964. With his second wife, Candy Gene (née Marer), whom he married in 1968, he had two children, Randy Spelling and Tori Spelling.

Adam Carrington
Adam Alexander Carrington is a fictional character on the American TV series Dynasty.
The role was originated by Gordon Thomson in the first episode of the show's third season (Episode 32, "The Plea" which aired in September 1982); he played the character until the series finale in 1989. Adam was recast with Robin Sachs for the 1991 miniseries Dynasty: The Reunion because Thomson was unavailable.
The addition of Adam to the cast provided a male villain to the show. Over the next seven seasons, Adam would be motivated primarily out of jealously, undermining the professional successes of his brother Steven and brother-in-law Jeff, in an attempt to curry favor with his parents, especially his father. Adam would betray both his parents multiple times but would be forgiven, even when his acts were criminal, due to residual feelings of guilt for Adam's difficult childhood. When circumstances arise that truly make Adam sympathetic, he squanders that good will due to his selfish, jealous nature.
In Billings, Montana, an elderly woman named Kate Torrance watches former spouses Blake Carrington and Alexis Carrington make a televised plea for the return of their kidnapped infant grandson L.B. Colby. While on the air, Alexis confesses a dark secret from their past: their firstborn son, Adam, had been kidnapped as a baby and never recovered. Traumatized by the event, they had hidden his existence from their subsequent children Fallon and Steven. After watching the broadcast, Kate tearfully tells her grandson Michael that he is really the Carrington heir. To prove it, she shows him an engraved silver baby rattle with the monogram AAC. Michael is stunned by the news. As her dying wish, Kate tells Michael to find his real family. Michael agrees, telling Kate, "My name is Adam Carrington."

Al Corley
Al Corley (born May 22, 1956 in Wichita, Kansas) is an American actor, singer and producer. In the late 1970s, he worked as a doorman at Studio 54. He would later appear in a VH1 Behind the Music special on Studio 54 to recount his experiences.
Corley is best known as the first actor to play Steven Carrington on the 1980s soap opera Dynasty. After that, Corley acted in fourteen movies, then produced five. Corley left Dynasty at the end of the second season in 1982 after complaining about Steven's "ever-shifting sexual preferences" and wanting "to do other things". The character was recast in 1983 with Jack Coleman; the change in appearance attributed to plastic surgery after an oil rig explosion. Coleman remained on the show until 1988, but Corley returned to the role of Steven for the 1991 miniseries Dynasty: The Reunion when Coleman was unavailable due to scheduling conflicts.
He was also known as a singer in the 1980s. His 1984 New Wave single "Square Rooms", from his debut album of the same name became a number one hit in France (in 1985), also reaching #6 in Switzerland, #12 in Italy (in 1985), #13 in Germany, #15 in Austria and #80 in the U.S. The same year, he released "Cold Dresses", which was also a big hit in France, reaching #5. His second album, Riot of Color was released in 1986, and a third album, Big Picture followed in 1988.

Alexis Colby
Alexis Colby (born Morell; formerly Carrington, Dexter, and Rowan) is a fictional character and the primary antagonist on the American TV series Dynasty.
The role was originated by Joan Collins in the first episode of the show's second season in 1981 (the character appeared briefly in the first season finale, non-speaking and face unseen). Collins remained on the show until the finale in 1989, and then returned as Alexis for the 1991 miniseries Dynasty: The Reunion.
Alexis' schemes to destroy ex-husband Blake, undermine his marriage to angelic Krystle, and control her children drive much of the action over the series' run. Passionate yet vengeful, Alexis loves her children fiercely and will do anything to protect them, but she often ignores their own needs and desires in place of what she thinks is best. Often seen smoking her signature black Nat Sherman cigarillos[citation needed], Alexis rises and falls again and again, continually stirring up trouble for all around her.
During the series Alexis is married three additional times, to Cecil Colby, Dex Dexter, and Sean Rowan. Alexis is widowed twice, first by Cecil and then by fourth husband Sean, prompting Alexis' cousin Sable to remark that with Alexis "death is always a simpler solution than divorce." Her third marriage (to Dex) ends in divorce after Alexis catches him in bed with her adult daughter Amanda. The name Alexis uses the most consistently over the course of the series is Alexis Colby, though her marriage to Cecil Colby is her shortest. Alexis is romantically linked to a number of men over the years, including oilman Rashid Ahmed, tennis pro (and Krystle's first husband) Mark Jennings, King Galen of Moldavia, shipping tycoon Zach Powers, Congressman Neal McVane, Blake's brother Ben Carrington, Dirk and Gavin Maurier, and even a near-reconciliation with an amnesiac Blake.

Ali MacGraw
Elizabeth Alice "Ali" MacGraw (born April 1, 1939) is an American actress. She first gained attention for her role in Goodbye, Columbus in 1969, for which she won a Golden Globe Award. In 1970 she starred in Love Story, for which she received an Academy Award nomination. In 1972, she starred in The Getaway with her third husband Steve McQueen. After that, MacGraw did not make another film for six years. She later appeared in a few unsuccessful films and television shows before permanently retiring from show business.
MacGraw was born in Pound Ridge, New York, the daughter of commercial artists Frances (née Klein) and Richard MacGraw. Her mother was of Hungarian Jewish background and her father was of Scottish descent. She has one brother, Dick, an artist. MacGraw has described her father as "violent".
MacGraw is an alumna of Rosemary Hall (now Choate Rosemary Hall, class of 1955) in Wallingford, Connecticut and Wellesley College (class of 1960), Wellesley, Massachusetts. She began working in 1960 as a photographic assistant at Harper's Bazaar magazine, as an assistant to the legendary fashion maven, Diana Vreeland, where she stayed for six years. MacGraw also worked at Vogue magazine as a fashion model, and as a photographer's stylist. She has also worked as an interior decorator.

Alice Krige
Alice Maud Krige (pronounced /ˈkriːɡə/; born 28 June 1954) is a South African actress. Her first feature film role was as the Gilbert and Sullivan singer Sybil Gordon in the 1981 Academy Award-winning film Chariots of Fire. Since then, she has played a variety of roles in a number of genres.
Krige introduced the role of the Borg Queen in the motion picture Star Trek: First Contact, and reprised the role for the final episode of the television series Star Trek: Voyager. A year after the series ended, she reprised the role in "Borg Invasion 4-D" at Star Trek: The Experience.
Krige was born in Upington, Northern Cape, South Africa, the daughter of Pat, a psychologist, and Louis Krige, a physician. The Kriges later moved to Port Elizabeth where Alice grew up in what she describes as a "very happy family", with two brothers, both of whom became physicians. She left for London, England, in 1976, with plans to become a clinical psychologist, but turned to acting after an experience in an acting class at Rhodes University.[citation needed] She then attended the Central School of Speech and Drama in London.[citation needed]

Barbara Bel Geddes
Barbara Bel Geddes (October 31, 1922 - August 8, 2005) was an American actress, artist and children's author. She is best known for her role in the television drama series Dallas as matriarch Eleanor "Miss Ellie" Ewing. Bel Geddes also starred in the original Broadway production of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof in the role of Maggie. Her notable films included Alfred Hitchcock's Vertigo (1958) and I Remember Mama (1948). She was the recipient of several acting awards and nominations throughout her career.
Bel Geddes was born in New York City, the daughter of Helen Belle (née Schneider) and stage and industrial designer Norman Bel Geddes. She married theatrical manager Carl Sawyer (aka Carl Schreuer) in 1944; they had one daughter, Susan. They divorced in 1951. Later that year, she married stage director Windsor Lewis with whom she had a daughter, Betsy. When Lewis became ill in 1967, Bel Geddes suspended her career to care for him until his death in 1972.
Bel Geddes came to prominence in the 1946 Broadway production of Deep Are The Roots. The performance garnered her the Clarence Derwent Award, and the Donaldson Award (forerunner of the Tony Awards) presented to her by Laurette Taylor, for "Outstanding Achievement in The Theatre". From 1951 to 1953, Bel Geddes played 924 performances of the Otto Preminger hit comedy The Moon Is Blue. In 1956, she created the role of Maggie "The Cat" in Elia Kazan's original Broadway production of Tennessee Williams' Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, and in 1961 created the title role in the Jean Kerr comedy Mary, Mary which became Broadway's longest-running show with over 1,500 performances. Both roles earned her Tony Award nominations. Other highlights include John Steinbeck's Burning Bright, Edward Albee's Everything in the Garden and Silent Night, Lonely Night with Henry Fonda.

Bartholomew John (born 24 August 1952 in Christchurch, New Zealand) is an actor best known for his roles on television.
He played Dr. Chris Piper in the Australian soap opera The Young Doctors from 1977 to 1979 followed by appearances in Skyways and Waterloo Station. Elizabeth Ann Bloomer Warren Ford (April 8, 1918 – July 8, 2011), better known as Betty Ford, was First Lady of the United States from 1974 to 1977 during the presidency of her husband Gerald Ford. Pro-choice on abortion and a leader in the Women's Movement, she gained fame as one of the most candid first ladies in history, commenting on every hot-button issue of the time, including feminism, equal pay, the ERA, sex, drugs, abortion, and gun control. She also raised awareness of addiction when she announced her long-running battle with alcoholism in the 1970s.

Bill Conti
William "Bill" Conti (born April 13, 1942) is an American film music composer who is frequently the conductor at the Academy Awards ceremony.
Conti, an Italian American, was born in Providence, Rhode Island, the son of Lucetta and William Conti. He graduated from North Miami High School in 1959. He is a past winner of the Silver Knight Award presented by the Miami Herald. He is a graduate of Louisiana State University, and also studied at the Juilliard School of Music.
His big break into celebrity came in 1976, when he was hired to compose the music for a small United Artists film called Rocky. The film became a phenomenon, and Conti's training montage tune, "Gonna Fly Now" topped the Billboard singles chart in 1977. He also composed music for the sequels Rocky II (1979), Rocky III (1982), Rocky V (1990) and Rocky Balboa (2006).
Conti also worked for some other films and, eventually, for television series. In 1981, he wrote the music for the James Bond film, For Your Eyes Only, when John Barry was unwilling to return to the United Kingdom for tax reasons, and provided the score for playwright Jason Miller's film version of his Pulitzer Prize winning play That Championship Season the following year.

William Oliver "Billy" Campbell (born July 7, 1959) is an American film and television actor. In television, he is best known for his roles as Rick Sammler on Once and Again, as Det. Blake Carrington
Blake Carrington is a fictional character on the American TV series Dynasty. The role was portrayed by John Forsythe from the first episode of the series in 1981 until the finale in 1989. Forsythe returned for the 1991 miniseries Dynasty: The Reunion. Forsythe is the only actor to appear in every episode of the series.
Patriarch of the Carrington family, self-made CEO of monolithic Denver-Carrington, and the principal character of the series, oil tycoon Blake Carrington is initially a ruthless man in both business and family matters. The character soon softens into a more benevolent patriarchal figure due to the influence of actor Forsythe.
In the series premiere, Blake marries his secretary Krystle Jennings. Their marriage is strained by her discomfort as she learns about Blake's ruthless side, especially in business. Blake rapes Krystle when she is reluctant to have sex with him. Blake struggles with his daughter Fallon's promiscuity and his son Steven's homosexuality. He catches his son in an embrace with another man, and in a fit of anger pushes them apart. Steven's lover falls, hits his head, and dies. Blake is arrested and charged with murder. In the season finale, a mysterious witness enters the courtroom. Visibly agitated, Blake turns to his lawyer and asks, "What's she doing here?"

Bo Hopkins
Bo Hopkins (born February 2, 1942 in Greenville, South Carolina) is an American actor.
Hopkins has appeared in more than one hundred film and television roles in a career of more than forty years, including The Bridge at Remagen, The Wild Bunch, The Getaway, American Graffiti, White Lightning, Radioland Murders, The Killer Elite, Midnight Express, More American Graffiti and A Small Town in Texas. When Gretchen Corbett left The Rockford Files television series in 1978, Hopkins as "John Cooper" replaced her character as Rockford's attorney for several episodes, arguably Hopkins' most memorable role in well over a hundred TV and movie appearances.
Bo Hopkins' first major role in a film was in White Lightning, a 1973 cult classic that also starred Burt Reynolds and Ned Beatty. Bo Hopkins played Roy Boone, Gator McClusky's (played by Burt Reynolds) sidekick during much of the film.
Jerry Reed played Bama McCall in the sequel to White Lightning called Gator. Jerry Reed and Bo Hopkins bore a striking resemblance to one another, hence they played brothers Joe Hawkins and Tom Hawkins in the film What Comes Around.

Camille Marchetta
Camille Marchetta, a former London literary agent, is a television writer and producer best known for her work on 1980s prime time soap operas Dallas, Dynasty and Falcon Crest.
Camille Marchetta was born in Brooklyn New York. She attended the College of New Rochelle where she later received a BA in English literature. After a trip to England, she decided to stay and took up residence there. While in England she worked with Richard Hatton Limited where she later became a literary director for the company.
Prior to writing for the 1980s soap opera Dallas she wrote a screenplay for a television movie that was never produced, along with one episode for the short running series Lucan. On Dallas she started as a freelance writer and eventually made her way on to the writing staff, responsible for writing major story and plot lines. Catherine Oxenberg (Serbian: Катарина Оксенберг, Katarina Oksenberg; born September 22, 1961, New York City) is an American actress known for her performance as Amanda Carrington on the 1980s American prime time soap opera Dynasty. The daughter of Princess Elizabeth of Yugoslavia, Oxenberg, though not noble or royal herself, is a descendant through women of the Serbian house of Karađorđević. She owns Serbian passport.
Though born in New York City, Oxenberg grew up in London. She is the eldest daughter of HRH Princess Elizabeth of Yugoslavia (b.1936) and her first husband Howard Oxenberg (1919–2010), a Jewish dress manufacturer and close friend of the Kennedy family. Princess Elizabeth is the only daughter of Prince Paul of Yugoslavia (who served as regent for his cousin's eldest son King Peter II of Yugoslavia) and Princess Olga of Greece and Denmark. Elizabeth is a first cousin of the current Duke of Kent and also a second cousin of Queen Sofía of Spain and Charles, Prince of Wales, making Catherine a third cousin of Felipe, Prince of Asturias and Prince William, Duke of Cambridge. Catherine is also a great-great-great-granddaughter of Karađorđe, who started the first Serbian uprising against the Turks in 1804.

Christopher Cazenove
Christopher Cazenove (17 December 1943 – 7 April 2010) was an English film, television and stage actor.
He was born Christopher de Lerisson Cazenove, the son of Arnold de Lerisson Cazenove and Elizabeth Laura (née Gurney, 1914–1994) in Winchester, Hampshire, but was brought up in Bowlish, Somerset. He was educated at the Dragon School, Eton College and the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.
He often portrayed British aristocrats, and first made his name in the early 1970s drama series, The Regiment. Other notable roles included Charlie Tyrrell in the UK series The Duchess of Duke Street and Ben Carrington in the US soap opera Dynasty. He also appeared several times in the British drama series Judge John Deed. On the stage, he appeared as Henry Higgins in the British and American productions of My Fair Lady from 2005 through to 2008.

Columbo is an American detective mystery television film series, starring Peter Falk as Columbo, a homicide detective with the Los Angeles Police Department. The character and television show were created by William Link and Richard Levinson. The show popularized the inverted detective story format. Almost every episode began by showing the commission of the crime and its perpetrator. The series has no "whodunit" element. The plot mainly revolves around how the perpetrator, whose identity is already known to the audience, will finally be caught and exposed.
The character is a friendly, verbose, disheveled-looking police detective (of Italian descent) who is consistently underestimated by his suspects. Most people are initially reassured and distracted by his circumstantial speech and increasingly irritating, pestering behavior. Despite his unprepossessing appearance and apparent absentmindedness, he shrewdly solves all of his cases and secures all evidence needed for indictment. His formidable eye for detail and meticulously dedicated approach, though apparent to the viewer, often become clear to the killer only late in the storyline.

Dex Dexter (born Farnsworth Dexter) is a fictional character on the American TV series Dynasty. The character was introduced as a love interest for Alexis Colby in episode 69. He will become her third husband, and arguably the second great love of her life, after Blake. Even after their marriage ends, Dex remains a strong force in Alexis's life. Dex gets the best of Alexis in a business deal (he discovers information in her office and acts on it before she can) and offers her a 60-40 split so they can work together. Although Alexis resists, by episode 72 they become lovers.

Brady and Dominique fight when she will not tell him why she is choosing to remain in Denver. Dominique's hostility toward oil tycoon Blake Carrington (John Forsythe) is noticed by Blake's wife Krystle (Linda Evans).
Following Fallon's memorial service in "The Rescue," Dominique makes the shocking claim that she is the daughter of Blake's father Tom Carrington and his longtime mistress, Laura Matthews, and offers proof(found in a letter in an old trunk left in the care of Laura's sister Bessie) , therefore making her Blake's half-sister. A financially-strapped Blake makes a business deal with Dominique: Forty percent of Denver-Carrington in exchange for 70 million dollars. This subsequently makes Dominique an enemy of Alexis Colby, who has been scheming to destroy her ex-husband Blake. When Brady learns the truth, he is furious that Dominique didn't confide in him earlier. Soon after, Brady and Dominique separate and he leaves Denver.

Douglas S. Cramer is an American television producer.
Cramer began his career in advertising, serving as a broadcast supervisor on Lever Brothers and General Foods programs at Ogilvy & Mather in New York City. In 1962, he became Director of Program Planning at ABC Television. In 1966, he became vice president of television program development at 20th Century Fox; he later became executive vice president in charge of production for Paramount Television, in which he was responsible for such now-legendary television shows as The Odd Couple, The Brady Bunch, and Mission: Impossible.
In 1971 he formed his own production company and in 1976 joined the production firm of prolific television producer Aaron Spelling (this firm was later acquired, coincidentally enough, by Paramount). Peppard enlisted in the United States Marine Corps at age 17 on July 8, 1946 and rose to rank of Corporal in the 10th Marines, leaving the Marines at the end of his enlistment in January 1948.
From 1948 to 1949, he studied Civil Engineering at Purdue University where he was a member of the Purdue Playmakers theatre troupe and Beta Theta Pi fraternity. He then transferred to Carnegie Institute of Technology (now Carnegie Mellon University) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he received his bachelor's degree in 1955. As President, Ford signed the Helsinki Accords, marking a move toward détente in the Cold War. With the conquest of South Vietnam by North Vietnam nine months into his presidency, U.S. involvement in Vietnam essentially ended. Domestically, Ford presided over arguably the weakest economy since the Great Depression, with growing inflation and a recession during his tenure. One of his more controversial acts was to grant a presidential pardon to President Richard Nixon for his role in the Watergate scandal. During Ford's incumbency, foreign policy was characterized in procedural terms by the increased role Congress began to play, and by the corresponding curb on the powers of the President. In 1976, Ford narrowly defeated Ronald Reagan for the Republican nomination, but lost the presidential election to Democrat Jimmy Carter.

Helmut Berger (born Helmut Steinberger, 29 May 1944) is an Austrian film and television actor. He is most famous for his work with Luchino Visconti, particularly in his performance as King Ludwig II of Bavaria in Ludwig, for which he received a special David di Donatello award.
He appears primarily in European cinema, but has also acted in films such as The Godfather Part III and Iron Cross.
He was born in Bad Ischl, Austria, into a family of hoteliers. Berger initially trained and worked in this field, even though he had no interest in gastronomy or the hospitality industry. At age eighteen, he moved to London, England, where he did odd-jobs while taking acting classes. After studying languages in Perugia, Italy, Berger moved to Rome, Italy.
In 1964, he first met the film director Luchino Visconti, with whom he later had an intimate relationship. Visconti gave him his first acting role in the film Le streghe (The Witches, 1967) (in the episode "La Strega Bruciata Viva"), but he gained international prominence as the amoral Martin von Essenbeck in Visconti's The Damned (1969). In that film, in what is perhaps his best-known scene, he mimics Marlene Dietrich in the film The Blue Angel (1930). In Visconti's Ludwig (1972), Berger portrays Ludwig II of Bavaria from his blooming youth, to his dissolute final years. In 1974, Berger starred with Burt Lancaster in Visconti's Conversation Piece.

James Healey
James Healey is an Irish born actor. His family moved to Manchester, England before emigrating to Melbourne, Australia in 1970. He studied acting at both NIDA (Sydney) and RADA (London), and worked in American television on the soap opera Dynasty as Sean Rowan. Later, Jeff learns that Fallon only married him because Cecil promised to provide financial support for her father Blake Carrington's struggling company. Jeff embarrasses her by drunkenly broadcasting the details to a room full of party guests. Fallon feels sympathetic for Jeff, but still doesn't feel she can return his love.

Kirby Anders (formerly Colby) is a fictional character on the American TV series Dynasty.
The role was portrayed by Kathleen Beller from 1982 to 1984. She was introduced in the 7th episode of the third season, and was written off after the last episode of the 4th season. Beller reprised the roles for the 1991 miniseries Dynasty: The Reunion.
Kirby Anders is the daughter of Blake Carrington's majordomo, Joseph. In episode 44, she returns to Denver from Paris, where she has spent the last several years studying. She had worked as a nanny but left her job after she became romantically involved with her (married) employer. Upon her return, she reconnects with her childhood playmate, Fallon. As adults, however, the gulf between rich and poor is more of an impediment to their friendship. In episode 45, Fallon hires Kirby to be the nanny for her young son. Immediately, Kirby has eyes for Fallon's husband, Jeff Colby. In episode 46, her father warns her not to interfere. But as Kirby watches Fallon's marriage to Jeff deteriorate, mostly due to Fallon's infidelities, she ingratiates herself with Jeff. During this time, Adam is also attracted to Kirby. Jeff protects Kirby from Adam's unwanted advances, increasing tension between the two men. In episode 48, Adam rapes Kirby. He offers her a job in episode 52, which she declines. In episode 55, Adam attacks Kirby again but is rescued by Jeff. In the heat of the moment, Jeff (who has recently divorced Fallon) proposes marriage to her. Jeff and Kirby are married in Reno in the following episode. In the season finale (#61), Kirby learns that she is pregnant and realizes that the child is Adam's, but is afraid to tell Jeff.

Krystle Carrington
Krystle Carrington (born Grant in Dayton, Ohio; formerly Jennings) is a fictional character on the American TV series Dynasty. The role was originated by Linda Evans in the first episode of the series in 1981; she left early in the final season but returned for the 1991 miniseries Dynasty: The Reunion.
The character of Krystle Carrington was depicted as the dutiful wife to the series' anchor and protagonist, patriarch Blake Carrington (John Forsythe). Leann Hunley
Leann Hunley (born February 25, 1955) is an American Emmy Award–winning actress. She is known for her recurring role as Anna DiMera on NBC's long-running Days of our Lives.
Hunley was born in Forks, Washington (located 120 miles NW of Seattle near the Washington Coast), and later attended the University of Washington in Seattle.
Her first television appearance was on Hawaii Five-O. She was a regular on The Misadventures of Sheriff Lobo in 1979 and 1980. Her role as Anna Fredericks-DiMera on Days of our Lives from 1982 to 1986 would win her an Emmy award at the 13th Daytime Emmy Awards for best supporting actress in 1986. She played on Aaron Spelling's short-lived Models, Inc.. In the first season of Dawson's Creek (1998) she was Tamara Jacobs, a high school English teacher who has a tempestuous affair with one of her students. She also played Shira Huntzberger on the Gilmore Girls (2000).
Hunley is currently a recurring actor on Days of our Lives. After a 21 year absence from playing the role, Hunley returned on June 21, 2007 as Anna Fredericks DiMera. Hunley still recurs on Days.

Lee Bergere
Lee Bergere (April 10, 1918, Brooklyn, New York – January 31, 2007, Fremont, New Hampshire) was an American actor, perhaps best known for his role as Joseph Anders in the 1980s television series Dynasty.
Bergere was known for his haughty and superior characters, a typecasting that culminated in his selection as the majordomo Joseph on the hugely popular prime-time soap opera. With that role, and his on-screen billing in the show's opening-credits (starting in Season 2), Bergere achieved a level of fame rarely matched by other character actors who, like him, had worked in relative anonymity as guest stars on television series in the 1960s and 70s including Hogan's Heroes. He appeared regularly only during the first three seasons of Dynasty (returning briefly in the fourth to be "killed off"), but his role grew beyond opening doors and announcing guests to encompass storylines that included the introduction of a daughter and his own character's suicide after setting a cliff-hanging fire.
Another of Bergere's legacies is his role as one of TV's best-remembered Abraham Lincoln, on the Star Trek episode "The Savage Curtain," which is well-known (and notorious) for its juxtaposition of real and imagined historical figures. Other parts also challenged his typecasting, and he showed great flair for comedy on series like The Munsters, WKRP in Cincinnati (in a pig costume), and the short-lived series Hot L Baltimore, on which he played one of TV's first gay regular characters.

Lloyd Bochner
Lloyd Wolfe Bochner (July 29, 1924 – October 29, 2005) was a Canadian actor, usually playing the role of suave, rich leading men.
At age 11, Bochner began his acting career on Ontario radio programs. He went on to garner two Liberty Awards, the highest acting honour in Canada, for his work in Canadian film and theatre. In 1951 he moved to New York City and appeared in early television series such as One Man's Family and Kraft Television Theatre. In 1960, ABC called with a starring role in the series Hong Kong with co-star Rod Taylor. A few years later, Bochner appeared in one of his most famous roles, that of the scientist attempting to decipher an alien text in the classic 1962 Twilight Zone episode "To Serve Man," a part he himself spoofed years later in the comedy The Naked Gun 2½: The Smell of Fear. In 1965, he guest starred on ABC's western series The Legend of Jesse James starring Christopher Jones in the title role. Two years later, he appeared on the ABC military-western Custer starring Wayne Maunder in the title role. He appeared twice on the long running television western The Virginian in the 1960s. Bochner is also memorably smooth and malicious as the gangster Carter up against Lee Marvin in John Boorman's seminal 1960s film noir Point Blank.

Michael Praed
Michael Praed ( /ˈpreɪd/ PRAYD; born Michael David Prince, 1 April 1960 in Berkeley, Gloucestershire) is a British actor, is probably best known for his role as Robin of Loxley (Robin Hood) in the British television series Robin of Sherwood, which attained cult status worldwide in the 1980s. Christopher Schemering notes in his The Soap Opera Encyclopedia that "The Nolan Miller creations became so popular that Dynasty spawned its own line of women's apparel" (and later a men's fashion line). "The Dynasty Collection" was a series of haute couture designs based on costumes worn by Joan Collins, Linda Evans and Diahann Carroll.
From 1983 to 1987, Miller was nominated six times for an Emmy Award and won an Emmy in 1984 for his work on Dynasty. He was nominated four times for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Costume Design for a Series for his work on Dynasty; he was also nominated in 1985 for the Elizabeth Taylor television movie Malice in Wonderland and in 1987 for The Two Mrs. Grenvilles starring Ann-Margaret and Claudette Colbert.

Born in Hartford, Connecticut, and growing up in nearby Westport, Martin began modeling at 17, and appeared in the original film version of The Poseidon Adventure (opposite Gene Hackman) at the age of 19. Martin portrayed feisty and spoiled heiress Fallon Carrington Colby on the ABC nighttime soap opera Dynasty from its debut in 1981 through the end of the fourth season in 1984. Martin left of her own accord and the character was "missing and presumed dead" — the series recast the role with actress Emma Samms at the end of the fifth season in 1985. She hosted Saturday Night Live on February 16, 1985.
In 1984, Martin, who has long been involved in environmental causes, appeared in a public service announcement to help save pink dolphins in the Amazon River. The ad was directed by Clyde Lucas, who appeared on The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries.

Richard Hack (March 20, 1951) is an American writer best known for his biographical books and screenplays. He is a frequent guest on talk shows and an outspoken critic of bias in television news.

Robert A. "Bob" Iger (born February 10, 1951) is an American businessman and the current chairman and chief executive of The Walt Disney Company. He was named president of Disney in 2000, and later succeeded Michael Eisner as chief executive in 2005, after a successful effort by Roy E. Disney to shake-up the management of the company. Iger oversaw the acquisition of Pixar in 2006, following a period of strained relations with the animation studio. He served as president of the ABC Network Television Group from 1993–94, and then was named president and chief operating officer of ABC's corporate parent, Capital Cities/ABC. In 1996, The Walt Disney Company bought Capital Cities/ABC and renamed it ABC, Inc., where Iger remained president until 1999.

Roman emperor
The Roman emperor was the ruler of the Roman State during the imperial period (starting at about 27 BC). The Romans had no single term for the office although at any given time, a given title was associated with the emperor. If a man was "proclaimed emperor" this normally meant he was proclaimed augustus, or (for generals) imperator (from which English emperor ultimately derives). Several other titles and offices were regularly accumulated by emperors, such as caesar, princeps senatus, consul and Pontifex Maximus. The power of emperors was generally based on the accumulation of powers from republican offices and the support of the army.
Roman emperors refused to be considered "kings", instead claiming to be leaders of a republic, however nominal. The first emperor, Augustus, resolutely refused recognition as a monarch. Although Augustus could claim that his power was authentically Republican, his successor, Tiberius, could not convincingly make the same claim. Nonetheless, the Republican institutional framework (senate, consuls, magistracies etc.) was preserved until the very end of the Western Empire.

Steven Daniel Carrington is a fictional character on the American prime time soap opera Dynasty. Steven is noteworthy as one of the earliest gay main characters on American television. Despite identifying as homosexual, Steven has relationships with both women and men throughout the series.
The role was originated by Al Corley in the show's first episode in 1981; Corley left at the end of the second season in 1982 after complaining about Steven's "ever-shifting sexual preferences" and wanting "to do other things." The character was recast in 1983 with Jack Coleman, the change in appearance attributed to plastic surgery after an oil rig explosion. In contrast to his ruthless, warring parents and promiscuous sister, the character was poised as "the moral conscience of the family." Still, he was defined primarily by his sexuality, his struggle against it and the conflict it created within his family.

Terri Garber (born December 28, 1960 in Miami, Florida) is an American actress.
Her acting debut was in 1982, when she played Allison Linden on the soap opera Texas. Her screen breakthrough was in the 1984 action film "Toy Soldiers".
After several other, more minor roles, in 1985 Garber landed her breakout role in the miniseries North and South based on the novel by John Jakes. The six-part serial, with a running time of 90 minutes each, dealt with the society in both northern and southern states before the American Civil War and was aired by ABC TV. Garber played Ashton Main, a young and seductive Southern belle and sister of Orry Main, played by Patrick Swayze. Ashton was spoiled, arrogant, manipulative and devious. She had a cold, merciless personality and supported slavery.
In 1986 North & South was continued with its sequel Love & War (the second book by John Jakes). The book was adapted as another 6-part-series entitled North & South: Book 2 and it was also aired by ABC. Terri starred as Ashton once again who was now married to James Huntoon, a politically engaged man. She had some more intrigues to develop and a passionate love affair with her brother's nemesis before she came to a bad end in the final miniseries when all her bad deeds were revealed, her brother cursed her for them and her husband divorced her.

While at SWTSU, Scoggins nearly qualified for a spot on the 1980 Olympic diving team.
After graduation, Scoggins briefly taught physical education before being recruited by John Casablancas of the Elite modeling agency. Elite sent Scoggins to New York, where she worked for a year before a European modeling circuit that included Italy, Germany, and France.

Wayne Northrop (born April 12, 1947) is an American actor, known for his parts in soap operas such as Dynasty and Days of our Lives.
Northrop is most known for his role on Days, playing the character of Roman Brady off-and-on from 1981 to 1984 and from 1991 to 1994. She has a little argument about this with Blake. Blake's children, Steven Daniel Carrington and Fallon Carrington, also returns to Denver after being away. Blake is not getting good along with Steven, because Steven is homosexual and Blake won't accept this.

Dynasty is an American prime time television soap opera that aired on ABC from January 12, 1981 to May 1989. The series, created by Richard & Esther Shapiro and produced by Aaron Spelling, revolved around the Carringtons, a wealthy oil family living in Denver, Colorado.[2] Starring John Forsythe and Linda Evans as oil magnate Blake Carrington and his new wife Krystle, Dynasty was ABC's competitor to CBS's prime time series Dallas.[2][3]
Ratings for the show's first season were unremarkable, ranking #28, [4] but the second season arrival of Joan Collins as Blake's scheming first wife Alexis heralded Dynasty's rise into the Top 20.[5][6] By the fall of 1982, it was a top ten show and by 1985, it was the #1 series on television.[5][7] Dynasty was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best TV Drama Series every year from 1981 to 1986, winning in 1984.[8] Dynasty spawned a successful line of fashion and luxury products, and also a spin-off series called The Colbys. Dynasty dropped from #7 to #24 during the 1986-87 season,[5] and was ultimately canceled in May 1989 after a nine-season run.[9] A two-part mini-series, Dynasty: The Reunion, aired in October 1991.

Beginnings[link]
Producer Spelling, already well known for his successful ABC series, including Starsky and Hutch, Charlie's Angels, The Love Boat, Fantasy Island, Vega$, and Hart to Hart,[10] took on Richard and Esther Shapiro's vision of a rich and powerful family who "lived and sinned" in a 48-room Denver mansion.[2] Esther Shapiro claimed that an inspiration for the show was I, Claudius, a fictionalized depiction of the Julio-Claudian dynasty of Roman emperors.[11] The working title for Dynasty was Oil, and the starring role originally went to George Peppard. In early drafts of the pilot script, the two main families featured in the series were known as the Parkhursts and Corbys; by the time production began, they had been renamed the Carringtons and Colbys. Peppard, who had difficulties dealing with the somewhat unsympathetic role of patriarch Blake Carrington,[12] was quickly replaced with John Forsythe. Filmed in 1980, the pilot was among many delayed due to a strike precipitated by animosity between the television networks and the partnership of the Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists. Dynasty finally premiered on ABC as a three-hour event on January 12, 1981.[2]

The Carringtons[link]
As Dynasty begins on January 12, 1981, powerful oil tycoon Blake Carrington (John Forsythe) is about to marry the younger Krystle Jennings (Linda Evans), his former secretary.[2] Beautiful, earnest, and new to Blake's world, Krystle finds a hostile reception in the Carrington household — the staff patronizes her, and Blake's headstrong and promiscuous daughter Fallon (Pamela Sue Martin) resents her. Though devoted to Krystle, Blake himself is too preoccupied with his company, Denver-Carrington, and blind to Krystle's predicament. Her only ally is her stepson Steven (Al Corley), whose complicated relationship with Blake stems from their fundamental political differences and Steve's resistance to step into his role as future leader of the Carrington empire. Meanwhile Fallon, better suited to follow in Blake's footsteps, as a woman is underestimated by — and considered little more than a trophy to — father Blake. She channels her energies into toying with various male suitors, including the Carrington chauffeur Michael Culhane (Wayne Northrop). At the end of the three-hour premiere episode "Oil", Steven finally confronts his father, criticizing Blake's capitalistic values and seemingly-amoral business practices.[13] Blake explodes, revealing the secret of which Steven thought his father was unaware: Blake is disgusted by Steven's homosexuality, and his refusal to "conform" sets father and son at odds for some time.[13][14]
In counterpoint to the Carringtons are the Blaisdels; Denver-Carrington geologist Matthew (Bo Hopkins) — unhappily married to the emotionally fragile Claudia (Pamela Bellwood) — is Krystle's ex-lover. Returning from an extended assignment in the Middle East, Matthew quits and goes into business with wildcatter Walter Lankershim (Dale Robertson), and as Blake's behavior begins pushing Krystle towards Matthew, the men are set as both business and romantic rivals.[2] Blake is further enraged when Steven goes to work for longtime friend Matthew, in whom Steven sees qualities lacking in Blake. Though previously in a relationship with another man, Steven finds himself drawn to Claudia, who is putting her life back together after spending time in a psychiatric hospital. Fallon makes a secret business deal with Blake's old friend and more-powerful business rival Cecil Colby (Lloyd Bochner), marrying his nephew Jeff (John James) to secure Cecil's financial assistance for her father. When Blake stumbles upon Steven in an innocent goodbye embrace with his former lover Ted Dinard (Mark Withers), Blake angrily pushes the two men apart; Ted falls backward and hits his head, the injury proving fatal.[2][13] Blake is arrested and charged with murder,[2] and an angry Steven testifies that Ted's death had been the result of malicious intent. A veiled surprise witness for the prosecution appears in the season finale "The Testimony," and Fallon gasps in recognition: "Oh my God, that's my mother!"[2][14]
Enter Alexis[link]
In the first episode of the second season, titled "Enter Alexis," the mysterious witness removes her sunglasses to reveal British actress Joan Collins as a new arrival to the series.[2] Collins' Alexis Carrington blazed a trail across the show and its storylines; the additions of Collins and the "formidable writing team" of Eileen and Robert Mason Pollock are generally credited with Dynasty's subsequent rise in the Nielsen ratings.[2] The Pollocks "soft-pedaled the business angle" of the show and "bombarded viewers with every soap opera staple in the book, presented at such a fast clip that a new tragedy seemed to befall the Carrington family every five minutes."[2] Alexis' testimony nonwithstanding, Krystle is immediately put off by the former Mrs. Carrington's condescending attitude and manipulations; Krystle's subsequent discovery that Alexis had caused Krystle's miscarriage by intentionally startling her horse with a gunshot settles Alexis as Krystle's implacable nemesis. Other new characters of the season are the psychiatrist Nick Toscanni (James Farentino), who tries to seduce Krystle while bedding Fallon and plotting against Blake, and Krystle's greedy niece Sammy Jo Dean (Heather Locklear), who marries Steven for his money. The season finale sees Blake left for dead on a mountain after a fight with Nick. By that time, Dynasty had entered the Top 20.[5][6] In the third season, Alexis marries Cecil on his deathbed and acquires his company, Colbyco. In the meantime, Adam Carrington (Gordon Thomson), the long-lost son of Alexis and Blake who had been kidnapped in infancy, reappears in Denver. Also introduced are Krystle's ex-husband, tennis pro Mark Jennings (Geoffrey Scott), and Kirby Anders (Kathleen Beller), the daughter of longtime Carrington majordomo Joseph (Lee Bergere). Kirby catches Adam's eye but weds Jeff after his divorce from Fallon. In the middle of the season, news that Steven has been killed in an accident in Indonesia comes to the Carringtons; he survives, but undergoes plastic surgery and returns to Denver portrayed by Jack Coleman. In the third season cliffhanger, Alexis lures Krystle to Steven's cabin and the two are locked inside while the cabin is set ablaze by an unseen arsonist (later revealed to be Joseph, who had meant for the fire to kill only Alexis and not Krystle).
With the show's popularity soaring in the fourth season, former President Gerald Ford guest-starred as himself in 1983, along with his wife Betty and former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger. New characters included the charming and ambitious Farnsworth "Dex" Dexter (Michael Nader), the unscrupulous playboy Peter De Vilbis (Helmut Berger), and Blake's illegitimate African American half-sister, Dominique Deveraux (Diahann Carroll). The main storylines included a custody battle between Steven and Blake over Steven and Sammy Jo's son Danny, and a false accusation of illegal weapons dealings orchestrated by Alexis to ruin Blake's financial empire. In the season finale, Fallon disappears just before her second wedding to Jeff (now divorced of Kirby) as her car seemingly collides with a truck on a stormy night (to accommodate the departure of Pamela Sue Martin from the series), while Alexis is arrested for the murder of Mark Jennings.
In the fifth season, Alexis is exonerated and her secret daughter Amanda Bedford (Catherine Oxenberg) comes to Denver and discovers that Blake is her father. Steven has married Claudia but leaves her for a man, and Sammy Jo discovers she is the heiress to a huge fortune. At the end of the season, an amnesiac Fallon, now portrayed by actress Emma Samms, reappears while the rest of the family go to Europe for the wedding of Amanda and Prince Michael of Moldavia (Michael Praed). During the season, the series attracted controversy when Rock Hudson's real-life HIV-positive status was revealed after a romantic storyline between his character Daniel Reece and Evans' Krystle. Hudson's scenes required him to kiss Evans and, as news that he had contracted AIDS broke, there was speculation Evans would be at risk. Driven by the new head writer and producer Camille Marchetta, who had devised the wildly-successful "Who Shot J.R.?" scenario on Dallas five years earlier, Dynasty hit #1 that year.[5][7]
The "Moldavian Massacre"[link]
Undoubtedly the most famous Dynasty cliffhanger is the so-called "Moldavian massacre" during the May 1985 season finale. Amanda and Michael's royal wedding is interrupted by terrorists in a military coup of Moldavia, riddling the chapel with bullets and leaving all of the major characters lying seemingly lifeless. It became the most talked-about episode of any TV series during the calendar year of 1985, with a viewership of 60 million.[15] In 2011, Ken Tucker of Entertainment Weekly named it one of the seven "Unforgettable Cliff-Hangers" of prime time dramatic television.[16] When the series resumed in the fall, viewers quickly learned that only two minor characters had died: Steven's boyfriend Luke Fuller (Billy Campbell) and Jeff's love interest Lady Ashley Mitchell (Ali MacGraw). In the 2006 CBS special Dynasty Reunion: Catfights & Caviar, Gordon Thomson reiterated that it was the follow-up that was the letdown, not the cliffhanger itself. Joan Collins was conspicuously absent from the season six opener; she was in a tense contract renegotiation with the show, seeking an increased salary.[17] As a result, the first episode had to be rewritten to explain her absence and many scenes were given to Krystle. Collins' demands were met (she reportedly signed a $60,000 per episode contract) and she returned to the series in the season's second episode. Although Collins' character was absent from the season six opener the show garnered a 28.1 rating since viewers wanted to see who survived the season five cliffhanger.[citation needed]
Continuing seasons and decline[link]

Though still a top-10 show, Dynasty dropped from #1 to #7 in the ratings for its sixth season,[5][18] which featured a lookalike woman named Rita who poses as Krystle (with both roles played by Evans), introduced Alexis' sister Caress (Kate O'Mara), and launched the spin-off The Colbys. Spurned by Blake, Alexis finds his estranged brother Ben (Christopher Cazenove) and the two successfully plot to strip Blake of his fortune. Steven's budding relationship with closeted Bart Fallmont (Kevin Conroy) is ruined by Adam's business-motivated public reveal that Bart is gay, and the May 21, 1986 season finale finds Blake strangling Alexis while the rest of the cast is in peril at the La Mirage hotel which is accidentally set on fire by Claudia.
As the seventh season begins in September 1986, Blake stops short of killing Alexis, Claudia has died in the fire, and Amanda (now played by American Karen Cellini following Oxenberg's firing from the series) is rescued by a returning Michael Culhane, Blake's chauffeur from the earliest seasons. Blake turns the tables on Ben and Alexis and recovers his wealth, but loses his memory after an oil rig explosion. Alexis finds Blake and, with everyone believing he is dead, perpetuates the belief that they are still married. Living with a clean slate, Alexis finds herself softening to Blake, but ultimately tells him the truth as he reunites with Krystle. Krystina receives a heart transplant but is later kidnapped; Sammy Jo's marriage to Clay Fallmont (Ted McGinley) crumbles and she falls into bed with Steven; Amanda leaves town, and Ben's daughter Leslie Carrington (played by Terri Garber) arrives. Adam's season-long romance with Blake's secretary Dana Waring (Leann Hunley) culminates in a wedding, which is punctuated in the May 6, 1987 season finale by Alexis' car plunging off a bridge into a river and the violent return of a vengeful Matthew Blaisdel. Although the first episode of season seven premiered with a high neilsen rating of a 20.1, the constant storyline changes lead to Dynasty falling out of the neilsen's top 20 to #24.[5]
With The Colbys cancelled, Jeff and Fallon return for Dynasty's eighth season, their marriage now falling apart again. Matthew, returned from the dead but troubled by headaches, holds the Carringtons hostage in hopes that Krystle will run away with him. Steven ends the siege by reluctantly stabbing his old friend to death. Alexis is saved by a handsome, mysterious stranger, Sean Rowan (James Healey). She later marries him, not realizing that he is Joseph's son and Kirby's brother, bent on revenge. Steven and Sammy Jo's reconciliation is short-lived, and the pursuit of children unravels Adam and Dana's marriage. Sean begins to manipulate and destroy the Carringtons from the inside, with he and Dex fighting to the death in the March 30, 1988 season finale. Blake comes home to find Krystle missing and their bedroom in shambles. The show had now dropped out of the top 30 to #33.[5]
The ninth and final 1988–1989 season brought a move from Wednesday to Thursday, and new Executive Supervising Producer David Paulsen, who took over the plotting of the series. In a money-saving move, Evans appeared in only a handful of episodes at the start of the season as an ailing Krystle seeks brain surgery in Switzerland but is left in an offscreen coma. Similarly, Collins was contracted for only 13 out of the season's 22 episodes; former Colbys character Sable (Stephanie Beacham) was brought in as both a platonic confidante for Blake and a nemesis for Alexis, and Tracy Scoggins also reprised her Colbys role as Sable's daughter Monica. A storyline involving a murder and an old secret tying the Carrington, Colby, and Dexter families together spans the season as Alexis and Sable spar first over business and then over Dex.
Ratings, however, continued to drop and were further exacerbated by the timeslot switch as now the series was facing off against the strong NBC Thursday night line-up, which had regularly drawn the lion's share of the audience that night (led by The Cosby Show, which had supplanted Dynasty as the #1 show on television in 1986 and had continued to hold that lead). In May 1989, new ABC entertainment president Robert A. Iger cancelled Dynasty; with the last episode of season nine now the series finale, the show ended with Blake, Alexis, and Dex in mortal peril.[9][19]
Miniseries finale 1991[link]
With the series cancelled in 1989, the final episode (featuring multiple cliffhangers and most of the main characters in dire straits and even mortal peril) was initially left unresolved. As an attempt to wrap up these loose plotlines, a two-part miniseries, Dynasty: The Reunion, aired in October 1991.[9] However, while The Reunion resolved some storylines, it ignored others.[9]
The catfights[link]
Over the run of the series, the rivalry between Alexis and Krystle is a primary driver for the melodrama. Alexis resents Krystle's supplanting of her position as mistress of the Carrington household and tries to undermine her at every opportunity, while Krystle makes increasingly bold efforts to keep Alexis from interfering in the lives of their mutual loved ones. The pair have numerous verbal spats, accented by slaps across the face, but on more than one occasion they have physical altercations. "Unfortunately, the thing people remember about this show is the catfights," noted Collins in 1991.[9] Krystle and Alexis famously brawl in Alexis' cottage[20] and later in a lily pond,[21] hurl mud at each other at a beauty salon,[2] and slide down a ravine together into a puddle of mud[22] before their final showdown in a fashion studio in the 1991 miniseries Dynasty: The Reunion.[9] In 2008 Entertainment Weekly termed Alexis and Krystle's catfights "the gold standard of scratching and clawing."[23] Later in the series Alexis battles Blake's half-sister Dominique Deveraux (Diahann Carroll)[24] and her own cousin Sable Colby (Stephanie Beacham);[25] Heather Locklear's Sammy Jo has catfights with both Amanda (Catherine Oxenberg) in a swimming pool[26] and Fallon (Emma Samms) in a horse trough and the mud around it[27], as well as a slapping match with Claudia (Pamela Bellwood). Evans even battles with herself at the climax of a 1985–1986 storyline in which Krystle is imprisoned and replaced by a lookalike, also played by Evans.[28]
Spin-offs and television events[link]
A spin-off, The Colbys, debuted in 1985 as Fallon "returned from the dead" and ex-husband Jeff followed her to Los Angeles, where they became embroiled in the family intrigues of Jeff's wealthy California relatives. Pamela Sue Martin had been asked to reprise the role of Fallon but declined which led to the casting of Emma Samms in the role. Ratings for The Colbys were poor and the show lasted for just two seasons, ending in 1987. Both Fallon and Jeff returned to Dynasty after the series ended.
The cable channel SOAPnet aired repeats of all nine seasons. In January 2004, creator Esther Shapiro participated in a marathon of the show's episodes, called "Serial Bowl: Alexis vs. Krystle", giving behind-the-scenes tidbits and factoids.
On January 2, 2005, ABC aired a fictionalized television movie entitled Dynasty: The Making of a Guilty Pleasure, chronicling the creation and backstage details of Dynasty. It received poor reviews both for content and for historical accuracy, and was criticized by Forsythe, Evans, and Collins in separate press releases.[29] Filmed in Australia, the movie starred Bartholomew John as Forsythe, Melora Hardin as Evans, and Alice Krige as Collins.[30] The film begins with a disclaimer noting the inclusion of "time compression and composite and fictionalized characters and incidents," and takes dramatic license with both the historical timeline and events, as well as the fictional storylines originally presented on Dynasty.
On May 2, 2006, a non-fiction television special named Dynasty Reunion: Catfights & Caviar aired on CBS. It assembled former cast members from the series, including John Forsythe, Joan Collins, and Linda Evans, as well as the four original actors who played the Carrington children (Pamela Sue Martin, Al Corley, Gordon Thomson, and Catherine Oxenberg). The special showed various clips from the series, as the cast reminisced about their time on the show. The special was filmed at the Filoli estate, the location originally used for exterior shots of the Carringtons' mansion in the series.
The Shapiros announced on January 12, 2011 that they had written a prequel feature film script set in the 1960s, and were shopping it to studios seeking to begin a Dynasty film franchise. [31]
In an interview in September 2011, Joan Collins chatted about a Dynasty revival - "I've been in constant contact with Esther Shapiro, who wrote it, and apparently they've written a script."

The Filoli estate in Woodside, California, was used as the 48-room Carrington mansion in the opening credits, establishing shots, and some outdoor scenes in the pilot episode. Some of the other exterior shots of the Carrington mansion (including the lily pond catfight) were shot at a 17-room Palladian house called Arden Villa.[32]
John Forsythe was the only cast member to appear in all 222 episodes of the series. Linda Evans appeared in 204 of the 222 episodes, leaving the series after appearing in only six episodes of the ninth and final season. Joan Collins, who did not join the cast until the second season, also missed one episode in season 6 and nine episodes in season 9, and was subsequently present for a total of 197 episodes. Forsythe and John James were the only two original cast members to appear in the final episode.

The creations of series costume designer Nolan Miller became so popular that Dynasty spawned its own line of women's apparel[2] called "The Dynasty Collection" — a series of haute couture designs based on costumes worn by Joan Collins, Linda Evans and Diahann Carroll. Christopher Schemering's The Soap Opera Encyclopedia notes that later, "capitalizing on that success, t.he show put out a men's fashion line, Dynasty sheets and towels, 'Forever Krystle' perfume, dolls, and — in keeping with the nothing-is-sacred spirit of the show — even wall-to-wall carpeting and panty hose."[2]
In addition, the Crystal Light beverage hired Linda Evans as a spokesperson due to her character's name (Krystle) on Dynasty[citation needed].
Two fictional novels were published, based on scripts from early episodes — Dynasty (1983)[33] and Alexis Returns (1984)[34] — written by Eileen Lottman. In 1984, Doubleday/Dolphin published the companion book Dynasty: The Authorized Biography of the Carringtons, which included an introduction by Esther Shapiro.[35] The Authorized Biography featured storyline synopses in the form of extended biographies of the main characters, descriptions of primary locations (like the Carrington Estate and La Mirage) and dozens of photos from the series.[35]

Dynasty was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best TV Drama Series every year from 1981 to 1986, winning in 1984.[8] It is the only night-time soap to achieve this honor. Forsythe and Collins were also nominated for Best Actor and Best Actress every year from 1981 to 1986, and Evans was nominated for Best Actress every year from 1981 to 1985. Evans won in 1982 (tying with Barbara Bel Geddes of rival series Dallas),[38] Forsythe won in 1983[39] and 1984,[8] and Collins won in 1983.[39]

The first season of Dynasty was released on Region 1 DVD on April 19, 2005 by 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment.[40] The rights to subsequent seasons (and Season 1 rights for other regions) reverted to CBS DVD (distributed by Paramount) in November 2006.
The show is rated PG for Parental Guidance in Australia and PG in New Zealand for adult themes.
