John Moisant
John Bevins Moisant (April 25, 1868 – December 31, 1910), known as the "King of Aviators," was an American aviator, aeronautical engineer, flight instructor, businessman, and revolutionary. As a pilot, he was the first to conduct passenger flights over a city, across the English Channel, from Paris to London, in the state of Mississippi, and the co-founder of a prominent flying circus, the Moisant International Aviators.
Moisant funded his aviation career with proceeds from business ventures in El Salvador, where he had led two failed revolutions and coup attempts against President Figueroa in 1907 and 1909.
Early life
He was born in L'Erable, Illinois to Medore Moisant (1839-?) and Josephine Fortier (1841–1901). Both parents were French-Canadian immigrants. His siblings include: George Moisant (1866–1927); Ann Marguerite Moisant (1877–1957); Matilde Moisant (1878–1964) who was the second American woman to receive her pilot's license; Alfred J. Moisant (c1862-1929); Louisa Josephine Moisant (1882–1957); and possibly Eunice Moisant (1890-?) who was born in Illinois. Alfred and Matilde were also aviators.

Reginald Bevins
John Reginald Bevins (20 August 1908 – 16 November 1996) was a British Conservative politician who served as a Liverpool Member of Parliament (MP) for fourteen years. He served in the governments of the 1950s and 1960s, playing an important role in establishing independent television.
Early life
Born in Liverpool, Bevins was one of five children. He was educated at the Dovedale Road School and then at Liverpool Collegiate School. He joined the insurance business, and also became interested in politics: he joined the Labour Party. In 1935 he was elected to Liverpool City Council.
Wartime service
At the outbreak of the Second World War, Bevins enlisted in the Royal Artillery. He served as a gunner in 1940, and was stationed in the middle-east and in Europe. He completed his tour of duty as a Major in the Royal Army Service Corps, and became a strong supporter of the Conservative Party. At the conclusion of the war he immediately sought a Parliamentary nomination. He was chosen to run for the West Toxteth division Labour-held seat; he lost by 4,814 votes, on a pro-Labour swing much less than the national average.

Bertrand Blanchard Acosta (1895–1954), co-pilot with Admiral Richard Byrd in 1927
Jimmie Angel (1899–1956), discoverer of Angel Falls – his ashes were later removed and scattered over the falls.
Walter Richard Brookins (1889–1953), flew for the Wright brothers
Mark Mitchell Campbell (1897–1963), stunt pilot and aircraft designer
John Franklin Bruce Carruthers (1889–1960), Chaplain of the Portal of the Folded Wings and air historian. His epitaph reads: "At the grave, when my warfare is ended. Though no flowers emblazon the sod. May a prayer mark the good I intended. Leaving all decoration to God."
Warren Samuel Eaton (1891–1966), Colonel and early pilot who built airplanes for Lincoln Beachy
Winfield Bertrum Kinner (1882–1957), a.k.a. Bert Kinner, built "Kinner" airplanes. Amelia Earhart flew a Kinner.
Augustus Roy Knabenshue (1876–1960), balloon and dirigible pilot who flew in the Dominguez Air Meet in 1910 and manager of the Wright brothers exhibition team, the "Wright Fliers."

Charles Edward Taylor (1868–1956), machinist for the Wright brothers who helped design and build the first engine for the Wright Flyer flown at Kitty Hawk.

1910年12月30日、ルイジアナ州ニューオリンズで、自動車（パッカード）と8kmの距離で競争を行ったが敗れた。
12月31日、ニューオリンズ郊外のケナーで着陸の前に強風にあい、シートベルトをつけていなかったジョンは機体から投げ出されて、落下し死亡した。

In 1910, John Bevins Moisant and his cat were inseparable. His cat was none other than Madamoiselle Fifi, as he so named her. An American, John Moisant was a pioneering aviator. Only a few months earlier, he had purchased a Blériot XI monoplane, learned to fly, and decided to attempt to recreate Louis Blériot’s famous crossing of the English Channel of a just one year earlier. Naturally, he brought along M’lle Fifi for the ride. He placed her into a basket to keep her safe during the flight across to Dover. He succeeded and, as a result, M’lle Fifi became history’s first and foremost feline aviator.

THE IMPOSING DOMED STRUCTURE seen at the beginning of this episode is called the "Portal of the Folded Wings", a shrine to aviation. The small scale Space Shuttle is a memorial for those that died both on the Challenger and the Columbia.
The shrine is a 75-foot-tall structure of marble, mosaic, and sculpted figures and is the burial site for fifteen pioneers of aviation. It was dedicated in 1953 by aviation enthusiasts who wanted a final resting place for pilots, mechanics, and other pioneers of flight.
Dedicated to the honored dead of American aviation on the 50th anniversary of powered flight, December 17, 1953, by Lieutenant General Ira C. Eaker USAF (retired). Beneath the memorial tablets in this sacred portal rest the cremated remains of famous flyers who contributed so much to the history and development of aviation.

Bertrand Blanchard Acosta (1895–1954), co-pilot with Admiral Richard Byrd in 1927
Jimmie Angel (1899–1956), discoverer of Angel Falls – his ashes were later removed and scattered over the falls.
Walter Richard Brookins (1889–1953), flew for the Wright brothers
Mark Mitchell Campbell (1897–1963), stunt pilot and aircraft designer
John Franklin Bruce Carruthers (1889–1960), Chaplain of the Portal of the Folded Wings and air historian. His epitaph reads: "At the grave, when my warfare is ended. Though no flowers emblazon the sod. May a prayer mark the good I intended. Leaving all decoration to God."
Warren Samuel Eaton (1891–1966), Colonel and early pilot who built airplanes for Lincoln Beachy
Winfield Bertrum Kinner (1882–1957), a.k.a. Bert Kinner, built "Kinner" airplanes. Amelia Earhart flew a Kinner.
Augustus Roy Knabenshue (1876–1960), balloon and dirigible pilot who flew in the Dominguez Air Meet in 1910 and manager of the Wright brothers exhibition team, the "Wright Fliers."
John Bevins Moisant (1868–1910), won the Statue of Liberty Race in 1910; first to carry a passenger across the English Channel.
Matilde Moisant (1878–1964), the second licensed female pilot in the United States in 1911
Elizabeth Lippincott McQueen (1878–1958), one of Los Angeles's first female pilots
James Floyd Smith (1884–1956), test pilot and instructor for Glenn Martin and manufacturer of parachutes. He built and flew his own plane in 1912 and invented the free-type manually operated parachute for the Army in 1918.
Hilder Florentina Smith (1890–1977), aerial acrobat and parachute jumper. She was married to James Floyd Smith.
Carl Browne Squier (1893–1967), World War I aviator, barnstormer, test pilot, and salesman. As Vice President of Lockheed Aircraft he sold Charles and Anne Lindbergh their Sirius airplane in 1931.
Charles Edward Taylor (1868–1956), machinist for the Wright brothers who helped design and build the first engine for the Wright Flyer flown at Kitty Hawk.

The Blackburn Cult, officially the Divine Order of the Royal Arms of the Great Eleven, or the Great Eleven Club, was a new religious movement started in 1922 by American woman May Otis Blackburn. She started the group on Bunker Hill in Downtown Los Angeles, California, and later formed a retreat in the Southern California Simi Valley.

John Moisant
John Bevins Moisant (April 25, 1868 – December 31, 1910), known as the "King of Aviators," was an American aviator, aeronautical engineer, flight instructor, businessman, and revolutionary. As a pilot, he was the first to conduct passenger flights over a city, across the English Channel, from Paris to London, in the state of Mississippi, and the co-founder of a prominent flying circus, the Moisant International Aviators.
Moisant funded his aviation career with proceeds from business ventures in El Salvador, where he had led two failed revolutions and coup attempts against President Figueroa in 1907 and 1909.
Early life
He was born in L'Erable, Illinois to Medore Moisant (1839-?) and Josephine Fortier (1841–1901). Both parents were French-Canadian immigrants. His siblings include: George Moisant (1866–1927); Ann Marguerite Moisant (1877–1957); Matilde Moisant (1878–1964) who was the second American woman to receive her pilot's license; Alfred J. Moisant (c1862-1929); Louisa Josephine Moisant (1882–1957); and possibly Eunice Moisant (1890-?) who was born in Illinois. Alfred and Matilde were also aviators.
