San Felè is a town and comune in the province of Potenza in the Basilicata region of Italy.
It is bounded by the comuni of Atella, Bella, Castelgrande, Filiano, Muro Lucano, Rapone and Ruvo del Monte.
In 969 AD, emperor Otto I ordered that a fortress be built in this area to protect against Byzantine incursions. This site was chosen for its defensive advantages. In 969 CE, the castle-fortress was completed. The constructors of the fortress, being from Venosa, dedicated the fortress to their protector-saint, Saint Felix (San Felice).
San Felè suffered from substantial emigration in the late 19th century (to North and South America). A large number emigrated to Buffalo and Newark, New Jersey, where the number of San Felè expatriates was said to be greater than the number remaining in the town. Descendants of these immigrants in Buffalo and New Jersey still have San Felè Societies, which hold an annual feast day honoring the town. There was also intense emigration from San Felè after the end of World War II (to Australia, Brazil, Germany, Switzerland, and northern Italy).

Saint Justin de Jacobis (9 October 1800 – 31 July 1860) was an Italian Lazarist missionary who became Vicar Apostolic of Abyssinia and titular Bishop of Nilopolis.
He was born at San Fele, Province of Potenza in southern Italy. On 17 October 1818, he entered the Congregation of the Lazarists at Naples, took vows there on 18 October 1820, and was ordained priest at Brindisi on 12 June 1824. After spending some time in the care of souls at Oria and Monopoli, he became superior, first at Lecce, then at Naples.
In 1839 he was appointed first Prefect Apostolic of Ethiopia and entrusted with the foundation of Catholic missions in that country. After laboring with great success in Ethiopia for eight years, he was made titular Bishop of Nilopolis in 1847, and shortly afterwards Vicar Apostolic, but he refused the episcopal dignity until it was finally forced upon him in 1849. Despite imprisonment, exile and every other kind of persecution from the local Ethiopian Church, he founded numerous Catholic missions, built schools in Agame and Akele Guzay, Eritrea for the training of a native clergy, founding the beginnings of the Ethiopian Catholic Church.

This was a very special moment that we are fortunate to have had set up for us. I would like to thank the videographer for recording our special moment. I had no idea he was creating this for us! Thank you to my beautiful family who made this happen. I also want to thank my new family members who made it across the world to the attend the wedding. It was a time that we will NEVER forget. As some background to this video; this wedding took place in my father's hometown of San Fele, Potenza Italy. There are very few weddings in this beautiful town anymore. We were told that it was extremely rare to close the main street into piazza. So...thank you to my the family members who made that happen. There are WAY too many people to thank..so, thank you to ALL that helped make this beautiful day ...
