Hello! I'm Luke Muehlhauser. (That's MEL-howz-er.)
I’m the Executive Director at the Singularity Institute. We’re trying to figure out how to make sure that when machines surpass human levels of intelligence, good things happen instead of bad things. That is, we’re trying to build ‘Friendly AI’.
I’m also deeply interested in the mathematics and cognitive science of human rationality. My brain is a kluge of unreliable, evolved modules, and I need to overcome their mistakes in order to solve hard problems like Friendly AI.

Why ‘lukeprog’? That was the internet nickname I picked when I was a 13-year-old computer programmer, and I’ve used it ever since. It’s simpler than Muehlhauser.
