LHD arrival in Port Phillip Bay
The LHD01 hull has been transported from Spain to Australia by a Heavy Lift Ship, Blue Marlin. The trip has taken around eight weeks. The Dockwise owned Heavy Lift Ship, MV Blue Marlin has travelled around 10000 nautical miles ( approx 18520 km) to deliver the first LHD. The LHDs are the largest ships ever built for the Royal Australian Navy and will provide the Australian Defence Force (ADF) with one of the most capable and sophisticated amphibious ships in the world. The LHD will be floated off the Blue Marlin over the next two weeks and then towed into the BAE facility at Williamstown. The Canberra Class LHDs are bigger than Australia's last aircraft carrier HMAS Melbourne. When completed they will be more than 230 metres long, 27.5 metres high and weigh around 27500 tonnes. Each ship can carry a combined armed battlegroup of more than 1100 personnel, 100 armoured vehicles and 12 helicopters and features a 40-bed hospital. The LHD is expected to be introduced into Royal Australian Navy service in 2014.

who would believe this is port phillip bay.mp4
I produced this video in 2000 or thereabouts. My friends Peter and Valerie Fear owned Dive Victoria in Portsea and I used to simply drive down, don my dive gear and jump on a dive boat.... and enjoy diving one of the shallower sites I could set off by myself and film the creatures and fish. Sometimes a mate would join me, often it was Peter Rosse, thanks Pete for being such a great model! My brother then wrote me some music and the video came together nicely and since then I have used much of the original footage to produce many additional films. Enjoy my film and tell the world how wonderful our marine life is in Melbourne, all the best, Dave Bryant.

Port Phillip Bay Snapper - Back to Basics - November 2011
I spent a day out on the bay with my mate Jason and his kids. It was fairly slow early on but the action picked up in the mid afternoon. I normally only use soft plastic lures to target snapper but it was good just to sit back and relax with a spread of baits out the back waiting for a rod to buckle and the bait runner reels to scream!! All in all we had a great day, the kids had a ball, we saw a pod of dolphins that played up a bit and thrilled the kids!! Once again the music is by a relatively new Aussie band, The Indigo Children. Many thanks to the guys for allowing me to use their awesome songs. These guys are a local Melbourne band with a massive future. check out their youtube channel here... www.youtube.com or on Facebook www.facebook.com
