Germany (ⁱ/ˈdʒɜrməni/), officially the Federal Republic of Germany (German: Bundesrepublik Deutschland, pronounced [ˈbʊndəsʁepuˌbliːk ˈdɔʏtʃlant] ( listen)), is a federal parliamentary republic in Europe. The country consists of 16 states while the capital and largest city is Berlin. Germany covers an area of 357,021 km² and has a largely temperate seasonal climate. With 81.8 million inhabitants, it is the most populous member state and the largest economy in the European Union. It is one of the major political powers of the European continent and a technological leader in many fields.
A region named Germania, inhabited by several Germanic peoples, was documented before AD 100. During the Migration Period, the Germanic tribes expanded southward, and established successor kingdoms throughout much of Europe. Beginning in the 10th century, German territories formed a central part of the Holy Roman Empire. During the 16th century, northern German regions became the centre of the Protestant Reformation while southern and western parts remained dominated by Roman Catholic denominations, with the two factions clashing in the Thirty Years' War, marking the beginning of the Catholic–Protestant divide that has characterized German society ever since. Occupied during the Napoleonic Wars, the rise of Pan-Germanism inside the German Confederation resulted in the unification of most of the German states into the German Empire in 1871 which was Prussian dominated. After the German Revolution of 1918–1919 and the subsequent military surrender in World War I, the Empire was replaced by the Weimar Republic in 1918, and partitioned in the Treaty of Versailles. Amidst the Great Depression, the Third Reich was proclaimed in 1933. The latter period was marked by Fascism and World War II. After 1945, Germany was divided by allied occupation, and evolved into two states, East Germany and West Germany. In 1990 Germany was reunified.

Tobias is located at 40°25′6″N 97°20′12″W / 40.41833°N 97.33667°W / 40.41833; -97.33667 (40.418426, -97.336625).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.3 square miles (0.78 km²), all of it land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 158 people, 65 households, and 44 families residing in the village. The population density was 604.3 people per square mile (234.6/km²). There were 77 housing units at an average density of 294.5 per square mile (114.3/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 99.37% White and 0.63% Asian. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.63% of the population.
There were 65 households out of which 30.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.5% were married couples living together, 6.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.3% were non-families. 29.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 10.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.43 and the average family size was 3.07.

Albert Tobias Clay
Albert Tobias Clay (1866 – 1925) was an American Semitic archaeologist, born in Hanover, Penna.
He graduated at Franklin and Marshall College in 1889, and at the Lutheran Theological Seminary in 1892; was ordained to the Lutheran ministry in the latter year; was fellow in Assyrian and instructor in Hebrew at the University of Pennsylvania, to which, after being instructor in Old Testament theology at the Chicago Lutheran Seminary in 1895-99, he returned as lecturer in Semitic archæology. He was assistant professor of Semitic philology and archæology there in 1903-09, and full professor for one year; and in 1910 became Laffan professor of Assyriology and Babylonian literature. His most important publications were Babylonian business and legal documents, especially Business Documents of Murashû Sons of Nippur (1898; et seq). Clay also wrote "Personal Names," an article in Studies in Memory of W. R. Harper from Cuneiform Inscriptions of the Cassite Period (1912), and in an article (1908) on Aramaic endorsements on these documents he points out the value of Aramaic transliterations of Babylonian proper names. His Amurru, the Home of the Northern Semites (1909) shows the non-Babylonian origin of Israelite culture and religion.

J Tobias Anderson (born 1971 in Gothenburg) is a Swedish artist and filmmaker, working with found footage and animation. He is best known for the short films 879 (1998), My Name Is Grant (1999), 879 Colour (2002) and Prairie Stop, Highway 41 (2004) - all referring to works by Alfred Hitchcock.
In his video works, most frequently in the form of animations, Anderson refers to film history and renowned film classics, as well as film genres - particularly Hitchcock, along with action and thriller sequences of escape and chase (from films North by Northwest, Rope, The Birds and Bullitt).
His work is held in the collection of the Moderna Museet in Stockholm.

Johan Tobias Sergel
Johan Tobias Sergel (7 September 1740 – 26 February 1814), was a Swedish sculptor, born in Stockholm.
After studying for some time in Paris he went to Rome, where he remained for twelve years and sculpted a number of groups in marble, including, besides subjects from classical mythology, a colossal representation of "History," in which are depicted the achievements of Gustav II Adolf before the Chancellor Oxenstierna. It was in Rome also that he modelled the statue of Gustav III, subsequently cast in bronze and purchased by the city of Stockholm in 1796. While primarily a sculptor, Sergel (inspired by English artists like Thomas Rowlandson) also drew several sequential picture stories, considered by many as one of the early forms of comics. Sergel returned to Stockholm in 1779 and continued to produce his works there. Among them are a tomb for Gustav Vasa, a monument to Descartes, and a large relief in the church of St Clarens in Stockholm, representing the Resurrection. He was an important part of the artistic elite in Stockholm and had a relationship with the celebrated actress Fredrique Löwen and was possibly the father of one of her children. He was the brother of Anna Brita Sergel. He died in his native city on 26 February 1814.

Johann Tobias Beck
Johann Tobias Beck (22 February 1804 Balingen, Württemberg – 28 December 1878 Tübingen) was a German theologian.
Graduating from the University of Tübingen in 1826, he was ordained a minister, but later accepted an appointment as professor of theology at the University of Basel. In 1843 he went to Tübingen, where he filled the same position.
He was one of the Tübingen faculty who was strongly opposed to the general radical tendency of that university, under the influence of F. C. Baur, the leader of the so-called Tübingen school. Beck was and remained absolutely orthodox.
He was known as a critic of both left and right wing Christian groups in Germany in the 19th century. His polemical style centered around a "biblical realism," one which saw the scriptures as an integrated system in and of themselves, an unconditional authority over both Enlightenment-style reasoning and ecclesiastical confessions.
As for doctrinal science, Beck held that there was no such thing as "speculative knowledge," but only "believing knowledge," which he called gnosis. Anything not biblically given (and believed as such) does not qualify as real knowledge of God. It needs neither human philosophy or churchly synthesis in order to be the truth, though spiritual (pneumatische) exegesis had its place by virtue of the work of the Holy Spirit. In such a way, "The scientific theological system should thus reproduce the real life-system of the biblical doctrine, for which the coherent activity of God is central."

Johann Tobias Bürg
Johann Tobias Bürg (December 24, 1766 – November 15, 1835) was an Austrian astronomer.
Born in Vienna, Bürg worked as a professor and astronomer in Klagenfurt, in Carinthia. He subsequently worked as astronomical assistant at the observatory at Vienna from 1792 until he retired in 1813.
He published some astronomical tables on the Moon that were praised for their accuracy. For these astronomical tables, Bürg was made a member of the French Academie des Sciences. He died at Wiesenau, near Klagenfurt.
The crater Bürg on the Moon is named after him. Johann Heinrich von Mädler honored Burg with this naming in 1834.
2. Hip hop artist Biz Markie makes a reference to Bürg in his song Young Girl Bluez. He says "I play cool, but I'm just a nerd; Like my man Tobias Bürg."

Johann Tobias Mayer
Johann Tobias Mayer (5 May 1752 – 30 November 1830) was a German physicist. He was mainly well known for his mathematics and natural science textbooks. Anfangsgründe der Naturlehre zum Behuf der Vorlesungen über die Experimental-Physik, an 1801 physics text, was the most influential of its time in the German-speaking countries. Mayer's research in experimental physics and astronomy appeared in Annalen der Physik. He is not to be confused with his famous father, the astronomer Tobias Mayer.
Mayer, born in Göttingen, was the first child of Maria and Tobias Mayer. The elder Mayer, himself a well-known Göttingen professor of geography, physics, and astronomy, died in 1762 when Johann was only ten. In 1769, Johann Mayer began studying theology and philosophy at the relatively new Georg-August University of Göttingen under Abraham Gotthelf Kästner (and later also with Georg Christoph Lichtenberg). After graduating in 1773, Mayer worked as a lecturer in mathematics and as an astronomer. On 17 November 1779, he was called to the University of Altdorf, where he worked from 1780 to 1786. He later taught mathematics and physics at Friedrich-Alexander-University, Erlangen-Nuremberg, and in 1799, he succeeded Lichtenberg at Göttingen. His students included Enno Heeren Dirksen, who, after obtaining his doctorate in 1820, advised Carl Gustav Jacob Jacobi. Mayer and his wife, Johanna, had five children. Mayer died in Göttingen.

Severus Snape
Severus Snape is a fictional character in the Harry Potter book series written by J.K. Rowling. In the first novel of the series, he is hostile toward Harry and is built up to be the primary antagonist until the final chapters. As the series progresses, Snape's character becomes more layered and complex. Rowling does not fully reveal the details of his true loyalties until the end of the final book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Over the course of the series, Snape's portrayal evolves from that of a malicious and partisan teacher to that of a pivotal character of considerable complexity and moral ambiguity. Snape primarily teaches Potions at Hogwarts, though in the sixth novel he teaches Defence Against the Dark Arts, a position which he was known to have desired throughout the series. He ultimately becomes Headmaster of Hogwarts in the final novel. Rowling has described him as "a gift of a character".
In an interview, Rowling described Snape's character as an "antihero". She has said that she drew inspiration for Snape's character from a disliked teacher from her own childhood, and described Snape as a horrible teacher, saying the "worst, shabbiest thing you can do as a teacher is to bully students." However, she does suggest in the books that he is generally an effective teacher. Although Rowling has said that Gilderoy Lockhart is her only character that she "deliberately based on a real person", Snape was reportedly based, at least in part, on John Nettleship, who taught Rowling chemistry and employed her mother as an assistant at Wyedean School near Chepstow. For Snape's surname, Rowling borrowed the name from the village of Snape, Suffolk. In a 1999 interview, and again in 2004, Rowling singled out Snape as one of her favourite characters to write.

Tobiah (Ammonite)
Tobiah was an Ammonite official (possibly a governor of Ammon) who incited the Ammonites to hinder Ezra and Nehemiah's efforts to rebuild Jerusalem. He, along with Sanballat the Horonite and Geshem the Arab, resorted to a stratagem, and, pretending to wish a conference with Nehemiah, invited him to meet them at Ono, Benjamin. Four times they made the request, and every time Nehemiah refused to come. Their object was to frighten him from completing the restoration of Jerusalem's walls and to do him some kind of harm.
Tobiah also had married a daughter of Shecaniah, a Judahite leader, and had given his son, Jehohanan, in marriage to the daughter of Meshullam, another Judahite leader, for ostensibly political purposes. Because of this, he somehow gained enough of a Judahite coalition to use the Judahites themselves to send letters to Nehemiah, telling him of Tobiah's "good deeds" in an apparent attempt to weaken Nehemiah's resolve to keep Tobiah out of the rebuilding effort. Tobiah meanwhile sent intimidating letters directly to Nehemiah.

Tobiah ben Eliezer
Tobiah ben Eliezer (Hebrew: טוביה בר אליעזר) was a Talmudist and poet of the 11th century, author of the Leḳaḥ Ṭob or Pesiḳta Zuṭarta, a midrashic commentary on the Pentateuch and the Five Megillot. Zunz (G. V. pp. 293 et seq.) inferred from Tobiah's reference to his father as "the great" and from his mention of the massacre in Mainz in 1096, that he was a native of Mainz and a son of Eliezer ben Isaac ha-Gadol, who is thought by David Conforte (Ḳore ha-Dorot, p. 8b) to have been one of Rashi's teachers. But as in the course of his work Tobiah often attacks the Karaites and, besides, manifests a thorough knowledge of Muslim customs, Samuel Judah Löb Rapoport, in his biography of Eleazer Kalir, note 33 (in Bikkure ha-'Ittim, x. 122-123), concluded that toward the end of his life Tobiah settled in Palestine.
As to Tobiah's birthplace, it has been proved by Solomon Buber that he was a native of Kastoria in Greece, as is testified to by Tobiah's countryman Judah Leon Mosconi in his supercommentary on Ibn Ezra's commentary on the Pentateuch. According to him, the author of the commentary on the Pentateuch mentioned by Ibn Ezra in the preface to his own work was a certain Meïr of Castoria, a pupil of Tobiah b. Eliezer. On the other hand, in his commentary on Ecclesiastes, Tobiah mentions a R. Samson as his teacher; and Buber supposes that he may be identical with the Samson quoted by Rashi in his commentary on Isa. lviii. 14 and Amos vi. 3. It is also to be concluded from various dates given by Tobiah in the course of his work that he wrote it in 1097 and revised it in 1107 or 1108.

Tobias (Animorphs)
Tobias is a fictional character and one of the main protagonists of K. A. Applegate's Animorphs series. His surname is never mentioned, but had the Ellimist not altered time in order to take his father, Elfangor-Sirinial-Shamtul, back to his old life, his full name would have been Tobias Fangor, the family name adopted by Elfangor when he assumed a human identity on Earth.
Tobias is one of the original five Animorphs. Before the war with the Yeerks, Tobias considered himself a loser. He had few if any friends, and often the target of bullies. To a degree, he hero-worships Jake, because Jake once stopped some bullies from beating him up.
In Megamorphs #4: Back to Before, an alternate reality scenario, Tobias' low self-esteem leads to him joining The Sharing and becoming a Controller. Besides the fact that The Sharing stops him from being bullied, one of his main reasons for doing so was the fact that he saw Jake attending a meeting at Tom's insistence and figured that if they both got involved in The Sharing, then he could become a "winner" like Jake.

Tobias Avery Plants (March 17, 1811 – June 19, 1887) was a U.S. Representative from Ohio.
Born at Sewickley, Pennsylvania, Plants apprenticed to a saddler at the age of twelve. He received a limited common school education. He attended Beaver College, Meadville, Pennsylvania. He taught school, and while teaching studied law with Edwin M. Stanton in the office of Judge David Powell at Steubenville, Ohio. He was admitted to the bar and commenced practice in Athens, Ohio, in 1846, but soon moved to Pomeroy, Ohio. He served as member of the State house of representatives 1858-1861. He was owner and publisher of the Pomeroy Weekly Telegraph about 1860.
Plants was elected as a Republican to the Thirty-ninth and Fortieth Congresses (March 4, 1865 - March 3, 1869). He was not a candidate for renomination in 1868. He served as Common Pleas Judge in Meigs County from 1873 to 1875, when he resigned to resume the practice of law. Presidential elector for Garfiled/Arthur in 1880. He served as president of the First City Bank of Pomeroy from 1878 until his death in Pomeroy on June 19, 1887. He was interred in Beech Grove Cemetery.

Tobias Angerer
Tobias Angerer (born 12 April 1977 in Traunstein, Bavaria) is a German cross country skier, and skies with the SC Vachendorf club. He graduated from the Skigymnasium Berchtesgaden in 1996. His occupation is "Sports Soldier". Angerer has been competing since 1996.
Angerer turned 18 in 1995 in his first big event, the 10K classical at the FIS World Junior Championships in Asiago, Italy. The next year he took a 26th place on the 30 km freestyle and a 28th place on the 10K classical at the World Junior Championships in Canmore, Canada.
His first victory in the FIS World Cup came on 6 January 2004 in Falun, Sweden, when he won the 2 x 15 km double pursuit in front of Italy's Pietro Piller Cottrer.
Angerer goes by the name Toby rather than Tobias. He has won the overall FIS World Cup twice, first in 2005/2006 and again in 2006/2007. The first year he won ahead of Jens Arne Svartedal in the second place and Tor Arne Hetland in the third. In the 2006/2007 event, Angerer beat number two, Russia's Alexander Legkov with 551 points and Eldar Rønning finished in third position.

Tobias Arlt is a German luger who has competed since the 2000s. He won a silver medal in the men's doubles event at the 2008 FIL World Luge Championships in Oberhof, Germany.

Tobias Bamberg
Tobias "Theo" Leendert Bamberg (1875 – 1963) was a professional magician. Born in Holland, Bamberg performed under the name Okito which was an anagram of Tokio (Tokyo). His father had been court magician to King William III of the Netherlands making Okito the sixth generation in a family of outstanding magicians known as the Bamberg Magical Dynasty.
As a young boy, Theo Bamberg nearly drowned while ice skating. The accident left him almost completely deaf and as a result he performed entirely in pantomime.^{[citation needed]} As a young man, inspired by a performance of the great French magician, shadowist and mimic Felecien Trewey, Bamberg developed a shadowgraphy routine which he performed professionally, beginning in his early teens.
In 1893, Bamberg created his first Japanese-style act in Berlin at the age of eighteen. Success was virtually immediate, but he eventually abandoned the show to elope with the theater manager's daughter. Shortly after, his new wife convinced him to change his name from "Tobias/Toby" to "Theodore/Theo". When he returned to performing, Bamberg altered his Japanese act to become a Chinese-style act to better facilitate a new illusion he had designed. Unlike William Ellsworth Robinson who performed as Chung Ling Soo, Bamberg didn't make an attempt to hide his European identity.^{[citation needed]}

Tobias Bernstrup
Tobias Bernstrup (born 1970 in Gothenburg, Sweden) is a contemporary artist working with videos, interactive works, live performances and electronic music. He received an MFA from Royal College University of Fine Arts Stockholm in 1998, where he also met up with artist colleague Palle Torsson.
Tobias Bernstrup belongs to a group of visual artists who produce music and perform it, and who consider this process as part of their practice as visual artists. Using the visual language of pop culture, video games, sci-fi, classicism and gothic noir, he has created a stage persona with gender-crossing live performances dressed in elaborate costumes of shiny rubber and heavy make up. In videos and animations often inhabited by his digital alter ego/Avatar and in live performances where the artist dresses as a computer game character, he raises questions about representation of identity, the body and physical space in both virtual and non-virtual realities, closely linked to critical ideas of irrealism and simulacra.

Tobias Billström
Tobias Lennart Billström (born 27 December 1973 in Malmö) is a Swedish politician currently serving as Minister for Migration and Asylum Policy in the Swedish government. Billström, a member of the Moderate Party, has been a Member of Parliament since 2002 representing Malmö Municipality (seat 122). Due to Billström's duties as a minister, his seat in the parliament is currently occupied by his replacement, Staffan Appelros. Billström was a member of the Parliamentary Committee for Social Insurance, and has also been Moderate Party spokesperson for migration and integration. In addition to his Migration portfolio, Billström was appointed temporary Minister for Employment by Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt, following Sven Otto Littorin's immediate resignation on 7 July 2010.
Billström has a Master's degree in history and political science from Lund University, and a Master's degree in Historical studies from University of Cambridge. Billström was appointed as Minister for Migration and Asylum Policy on 6 October 2006 in the centre-right cabinet led by Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt.

Tobias Bonhoeffer
Tobias Bonhoeffer (born January 9, 1960 in Berkeley, California) is a German neurobiologist. He is director at the Max Planck Institute of Neurobiology and head of the department Cellular and Systems Neurobiology.
Tobias Bonhoeffer studied physics at the University of Tübingen and conducted the research for his PhD thesis at the Max Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics in Tübingen. Afterwards, he worked as a post-doctoral researcher at the Rockefeller University and at the Max Planck Institute for Brain Research in Frankfurt. He led an independent research group at the Max Planck Institute of Psychiatry in Munich and was appointed Director at the Max Planck Institute of Neurobiology in 1998. Since 2008 Bonhoeffer is head of the Biomedical Section of the Max Planck Society.
Tobias Bonhoeffer's scientific research is focused on the cellular foundations of learning and memory, as well as on the early postnatal development of the brain.
Tobias Bonhoeffer's work led to a number of important scientific discoveries. Among these are:

Tobias Bridge
Sir Tobias Bridge was fought for Parliament in the English Civil War, served the Lord Protector Oliver Cromwell during the Interregnum and after the restoration he served King Charles II.
During the English Civil War, Bridge fought for Parliament under Fairfax. During the Interregnum he was an active supporter of Oliver Cromwell served on several influential committees. From 1655 and 1659 he as a Colonel of Horse, and on the death of Charles Worsley he succeeded to the governorship of Cheshire, Lancashire and Staffordshire district during the second half of 1656 of the Rule of the Major-Generals.
During the Second Commonwealth, in the immediate prelude to the restoration of the monarchy, he served as a major in Sir Lord Lockhart's Regiment of Horse at Dunkirk, and after the restoration he was appointed Captain of Horse at Dunkirk, a post where he took direct orders from the Governor of Dunkirk and King Charles II. He held the post until 1662 when Dunkirk was sold to France. On his return from Dunkirk he was commissioned into the Duke of Richmond's Regiment as a captain.

Tobias Cohn
Tobias Cohn or Tobias Kohn (in Hebrew, Toviyyah ben Moshe ha-Kohen; in Polish, Tobiasz Kohn) (also referred to as Toviyah Kats) (1652-1729) was a Polish-Jewish physician of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. He was born at Metz in 1652.
Cohn's grandfather was the physician Eleazar Kohn, who emigrated from the Holy Land to Poland, and settled in Kamenetz-Podolsk, where he practised medicine until his death. His father was the Polish physician Moses Kohn of Narol, in the district of Bielsk, who moved to Metz in 1648 to escape persecution during the Chmielnicki Uprising. Tobias and his elder brother returned to Poland after the death of their father in 1673. He received his education at Kraków and the universities of Frankfort-on-the-Oder (at the expense of the great elector of Brandenburg) and Padua, graduating from the latter as doctor of medicine. He practised for some time in Poland, and removed later to Adrianople, where he became physician to five successive Ottoman sultans— Mehmed IV, Suleiman II, Ahmed II, Mustafa II, and Ahmed III, moving with the court to Constantinople. In 1724 he went to Jerusalem, where he lived until his death in 1729.

Tobias Cole

Tobias Martin Piers Trevor Cole (born 7 August 1971) is an Australian countertenor and leading artist with Opera Australia.
Cole was born in Leiden, the Netherlands while his father was working at the University of Leiden as a radio astronomer. In 1976 he commenced his education at Newington College. Aged eight, he joined the choir of St. James Church, Sydney, as a treble. As a boy soprano, Cole sang with The Australian Opera (in A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Tosca) and with the Sydney Philharmonia Choirs. He was later appointed head chorister of St James’ choir and the Chapel Choir of Newington College. As a teenager, Cole toured Europe with the Chapel Choir of Newington College in 1986/87.
Cole is an honours graduate in music from the University of Sydney having studied singing, composition, conducting and musicology. Awarded the 1994 Churchill Fellowship, sponsored by Dame Roma Mitchell, to continue his vocal training with Ashley Stafford at London’s Royal College of Music and to also further his studies in Early Music. He later received a Queen's Trust Achiever Award for operatic studies in London. In 2002, he was the first countertenor to win Opera Foundation Australia’s Metropolitan Opera Young Artist Study Award and spent three months in New York at the Met.

Tobias Dantzig
Tobias Dantzig (February 19, 1884 – August 9, 1956) was a Baltic German Russian American mathematician, the father of George Dantzig, and the author of Number: The Language of Science (A critical survey written for the cultured non-mathematician) (1930) and Aspects of Science (New York, Macmillan, 1937).
Born in Latvia, Dantzig studied mathematics with Henri Poincaré in Paris. Tobias married a fellow Sorbonne University student, Anja Ourisson, and the couple emigrated to the United States in 1910. Working for a time as a lumberjack in Oregon, Dantzig received his Ph.D. in mathematics from Indiana University in 1917. He taught at Johns Hopkins, Columbia University, and the University of Maryland. Dantzig died in Los Angeles in 1956. He was the father of George Dantzig, a key figure in the development of linear programming.

Tobias Delius
Tobias Delius (born 15 July 1964, Oxford, England) is an English musician, who plays the tenor saxophone and clarinet.
Delius began playing saxophone in 1980 in Germany. In 1983-1984 he lived in Mexico City where he played in the “Cuarteto Mexicano de Jazz” led by pianist Francixco Téllez.
Delius moved to Amsterdam in 1984 and studied for a short while at the Sweelinck Conservatorium. He soon became involved with Amsterdam improvisers and dropped his studies to immerse himself in the improvised music scene. In 1990 he was awarded the Podiumprijs from the organisation Stichting Jazz in The Netherlands. In February 2004, Delius was awarded the VPRO/Boy Edgar Award, the Netherlands' most prestigious award in improvised music.
He has worked in Europe and overseas with among others Steve Lacy, Louis Moholo’s Viva-la-black, Bill Frisell, Mark Feldman and Trio Clusone, Misha Mengelberg, Steve Beresford, Jeb Bishop, Kent Kessler & Hamid Drake and Ray Anderson.
Tobias Delius leads his own quartet with Tristan Honsinger (cello), Joe Williamson (double bass) and Han Bennink (drums). The CDs The Heron, Toby’s Mloby and Pelikanismus were enthusiastically received both at home and abroad.

Tobias "Eggi" Exxel, born February 27, 1973, is the current bass player for the power metal band Edguy. Tobias was hired by Edguy in 1998 when vocalist Tobias Sammet, who had played bass since the band's formation in 1992, decided the band should have someone who could focus on playing the instrument full-time.
Tobias had previously played guitar and bass in the band Squealer and would also go on to perform both roles in his side-project, Taraxacum, which was active between 2000 and 2005. After Taraxacum was put to rest, Tobias formed Everleaf. Prior to these bands, he played in Galen from 1988 to 1993.
During Wacken Open Air August 7, 2010, Tobias left the stage briefly to take a call relating to his new family. On August 13, 2010, Tobias and his girlfriend gave birth to their first child, son Julian. Markus Grosskopf of Helloween replaced Tobias until his return.

Tobias Frere-Jones (born Tobias Edgar Mallory Jones, 1970) is a prolific type designer who works in New York City with fellow type designer Jonathan Hoefler at Hoefler & Frere-Jones, a type foundry in lower Manhattan. Frere-Jones teaches typeface design at the Yale School of Art MFA program, with type designer Matthew Carter.
He is a son of Robin Carpenter Jones and his wife, the former Elizabeth Frere, and a brother of music critic Sasha Frere-Jones. He is a grandson of Alexander Stuart Frere-Reeves, the former chairman of the board of William Heinemann Ltd, the British publishing house, a great-grandson of the writer Edgar Wallace, who wrote the screenplay for the film King Kong, and a nephew of Vice Admiral Sir Richard Tobias Frere KCB.
After receiving a BFA in 1992 from Rhode Island School of Design, Frere-Jones joined Font Bureau, Inc. in Boston. Over seven years as a Senior Designer, he created a number of the typefaces that are Font Bureau's best known, among them Interstate and Poynter Oldstyle & Gothic. He joined the Yale School of Art faculty in 1996 as a Critic. In 1999, he left Font Bureau to return to New York, where he began work with Jonathan Hoefler. Since working together, the two have collaborated on projects for The Wall Street Journal, Martha Stewart Living, Nike, Pentagram, GQ, Esquire magazine, The New Times, Business 2.0, and The New York Times Magazine.

Tobias Furneaux
Captain Tobias Furneaux (21 August 1735 – 18 September 1781) was an English navigator and Royal Navy officer, who accompanied James Cook on his second voyage of exploration. He was the first man to circumnavigate the world in both directions.
Furneaux was born at Swilly House near Plymouth, son of William Furneaux (1696-1748) of Swilly, and Susanna Wilcocks (1698-1775). He entered the Royal Navy, and was employed on the French and African coasts and in the West Indies during the latter part of the Seven Years' War (1760–1763). He served as second lieutenant of HMS Dolphin under Captain Samuel Wallis on the latter's voyage round the globe (August 1766 – May 1768).
In November 1771, Furneaux was given command of Adventure, which accompanied James Cook (in Resolution) on his second voyage. On this expedition Furneaux was twice separated from his leader (8 February 1773 to 19 May 1773; and 22 October 1773 to 14 October 1774, the date of his return to England). On the former occasion he explored a great part of the south and east coasts of Van Diemen's Land (now Tasmania), and made the earliest British chart of the same. Most of his names here survive; Cook, visiting the shore-line on his third voyage, confirmed Furneaux's account and delineation of it, with certain minor criticisms and emendations, and named after him the Furneaux Group at the eastern entrance to Bass Strait, and the group now known as the Low Archipelago.

Tobias Geffen
Tobias Geffen (Hebrew: טוביה גפן‎) (August 1, 1870 – February 10, 1970) was an American Orthodox rabbi. He served as the leader of Congregation Shearith Israel in Atlanta, Georgia, from 1910 to 1970. Geffen is widely known for his 1935 decision that certified Coca-Cola as kosher.
Geffen was born on August 1, 1870, in the Lithuanian city of Kaunas (called Kovno at the time, part of the Russian Empire). He immigrated to the United States in 1903 and became rabbi of New York's Congregation Ahavat Zedek in New York City. In 1907, he moved to Canton, Ohio, to become the rabbi of a small synagogue. In 1910 he moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where he served as rabbi of Congregation Shearith Israel until his death.
Geffen organized the first Hebrew school in Atlanta. He began a daily class in Talmud. Geffen also standardized regulation of kosher supervision in the Atlanta area under his central authority. He was the leader of the Southern division of the Union of Orthodox Rabbis.
Geffen published eight books of Talmudic and Biblical exegesis. He died on February 10, 1970.

Grahn began his career in the youth system of Rödeby AIF in his hometown of Karlskrona. He than signed with Östers IF and made his first team debut in 1997. After not featuring for Beira-Mar, he returned to Östers for the 1999 season. After playing in 6 league matches for Östers during the 1999 season, Grahn left the club signing with Lyngby in the Danish Superliga. During the 2001–02 season, Grahn became a regular for the club appearing in 27 league matches and scoring one goal. Grahn began the 2001–02 season with Lyngby, but was sold to Norway's Vålerenga during the early part of the season. In his first year with the Norwegian club, Grahn helped the club gain promotion to the Tippeligaen. During his second season with the club, he helped the club in capturing the 2002 Norwegian Football Cup. In his 18 months at the club, he appeared in 36 league matches and scored nine goals.

Tobias Hecht (born 18 February 1964 in Seattle, Washington) is an American anthropologist, ethnographer, and translator.
He received his Ph.D. in Social Anthropology in 1995 from the University of Cambridge, and was the winner of the 2002 Margaret Mead Award, for his book At Home in the Street: Street Children of Northeast Brazil, an innovative study of street children in Northeastern Brazil.
In 2002–2003 he was the recipient of a Harry Frank Guggenheim Foundation research grant for his work on The violent life of Bruna Verissimo: An experimental ethnographic biography of a homeless Brazilian youth. His 2006 novel After Life: An Ethnographic Novel was based in part on that work.

Tobias Hill was born in Kentish Town, in North London, to parents of German Jewish and English extraction: his maternal grandfather was the brother of Gottfried Bermann, confidant of Thomas Mann and, as owner of S. Fischer Verlag, German literature's leading publisher-in-exile during the Second World War. Hill was educated at Hampstead School and Sussex University. He lives in Cricklewood, north London.
Hill's early work appeared in magazines such as Envoi and The Frogmore Papers and published four collections,Year of the Dog (1995), Midnight in the City of Clocks (1996) (influenced by his experience of life in Japan) Zoo (1998) and Nocturne in Chrome & Sunset Yellow (2006). The last of these was described by The Guardian as "A vital, luminous collection... it is rare to come across a collection of poetry that you know with certainty you will still be reading years from now, but for me, this is such a book." Hill's collection of short stories, Skin (1997), was serialized on BBC Radio 4, was shortlisted for the 1998 John Llewellyn Rhys/Mail on Sunday Prize, and won the International PEN/Macmillan Silver Pen Award.

Tobias Hume
Tobias Hume (possibly 1569 – 16 April 1645) was a Scottish composer, viol player and soldier.
Little is known of his life. Some have suggested that he was born in 1569 because he was admitted to the London Charterhouse in 1629, a pre-requisite to which was being at least 60 years old, though there is no certainty over this. He had made his living as a professional soldier, probably as a mercenary. He was an officer with the Swedish and Russian armies.
His published music includes pieces for viols (including many solo works for the lyra viol) and songs. They were gathered in two collections, The First Part of Ayres (or Musicall Humors, 1605) and Captain Humes Poeticall Musicke (1607). He was a particular champion of the viol over the then-dominant lute, something which caused John Dowland to publish a rebuttal of Hume's ideas.
Hume was also known as a prankster, as some of his somewhat unusual compositions illustrate. His most notorious piece was "An Invention for Two to Play upone one Viole". Two bows are required and the smaller of the two players is obliged to sit in the lap of the larger player. This work was notated in tablature and is indeed technically possible to play.^{[citation needed]} His instructions to "drum this with the backe of your bow" in another piece, "Harke, harke," from the First Part of Ayres, constitute the earliest known use of col legno in Western music.

Glenn Tobias Hysén (born 9 March 1982) is a Swedish footballer who plays as a striker for Allsvenskan side IFK Göteborg and the Swedish national team. He is the son of Glenn Hysén.

Tobias Kamke (born 21 May 1986 in Lübeck, Germany) is a German tennis player. He reached his career high ranking in singles at No. 64 on 31 January 2011 and in doubles at No. 419 on 17 October 2011.

He reached back-to-back second rounds on ATP World Tour Level at Stockholm, Vienna and Basel. As Kamke started the year as World No. 254 and finished it as World No. 66 he was awarded "Newcomer of the Year" by the ATP.

Tobias Kassung (born 1977) is a German classical guitarist and composer. He studied with Prof. Hubert Käppel at the Hochschule für Musik Köln and continued his studies with Simon Dinnigan at the UCE Birmingham Conservatoire of Music and with Antigoni Goni at the Conservatoire royal de Bruxelles. Lear served Washington from 1784 until the former-President's death in 1799. Through Lear's journal, we receive the account of Washington's final moments and his last words: 'Tis well.

Tobias Lindemann (born 1966) is a German architect, designer and media entrepreneur. He is the youngest of three children of Oskar Lindemann, a Protestant minister of the Evangelische Kirche in Deutschland. The Lindemann family has its roots in Baden Württemberg and is widespread, with family members living in Australia, U.S. and Canada.
Lindemann started his career as photographer and industrial designer in the late 80s. Tobias Linderoth
Tobias Jan Håkan Linderoth (Swedish pronunciation: [tʊˈbiːɑs ˈlɪndɛˌruːt]; born 21 April 1979 in Marseille, France) is a former Swedish football player.
Linderoth played for Stabæk and then an unremarkable spell at Everton marred by injury, where he scored once against Charlton Athletic in the League Cup, before he joined Copenhagen in summer 2004. He was a regular first team player for three seasons in Copenhagen and was made captain for the team that won two Danish championships and qualified for the group stage of the UEFA Champions League with Linderoth as a key player.
On 12 June 2007, Linderoth signed a three-year contract with Turkish side Galatasaray, where he wore the number 6.
On 22 January 2010, Linderoth was released by the club. However, he had a contract until the end of the season. On 12 November 2010, Linderoth officially announced the end of his career as a player. He stated he was aiming to become a coach like his father. He now works as a youth team coach at Elfsborg.
Linderoth was a midfield dynamo on the Swedish national team where he also was assistant captain. Tobias has competed in the UEFA European Football Championship for Sweden in the 2004 tournaments as well as the FIFA World Cups in the 2002 and 2006 tournaments. In one game at the World Cup in 2002, he ran 14.6 kilometres (9.1 mi) during the 96 minutes of the match - not an unusual feature for the always hard-working player. Another key feature is his tough, dangerous and effective tackling. He is also known for his powerful shot.

He studied at the Royal Academy of Music under Sir William Sterndale Bennett and also taught there from 1876 to 1925 as professor of advanced piano. With Frederick Corder and John Blackwood McEwen, he co-founded the Society of British Composers in 1905.
He founded a piano school in 1900 and soon became known for his teaching (known as the Matthay System) that stressed proper piano touch and analysis of arm movements. He published several books of technique, which brought him international recognition. Many of his pupils went on to define a school of 20th century English pianism, including York Bowen, Myra Hess, Clifford Curzon, Moura Lympany, Eunice Norton, Lytle Powell, Irene Scharrer, Lilias Mackinnon, Guy Jonson, Vivian Langrish and Harriet Cohen. He was also the teacher of Canadian pianist Harry Dean and English conductor Ernest Read.

He was the son of Sir John Matthew of Ross in Herefordshire, England, and of his wife Eleanor Crofton of Ludlow. He was born at Bristol and was educated at Wells, Somerset, and then in succession at University College and Christ Church, Oxford. He proceeded BA in 1564, and MA in 1566.
He attracted the favourable notice of Queen Elizabeth I, and his rise was steady though not very rapid. He was public orator in 1569, President of St John's College, Oxford in 1572,Dean of Christ Church in 1576, Vice-Chancellor of Oxford University in 1579,Dean of Durham in 1583, Bishop of Durham in 1595, and Archbishop of York in 1606.
In 1581, he had a controversy with the Jesuit Edmund Campion, and published at Oxford his arguments in 1638 under the title, Piissimi et eminentissimi viri Tobiae Matthew, archiepiscopi olim Eboracencis concio apologetica adversus Campianam. While in the north he was active in forcing the recusants to conform to the Church of England, preaching hundreds of sermons and carrying out thorough visitations.

Tobias Mayer
Tobias Mayer (17 February 1723 – 20 February 1762) was a German astronomer famous for his studies of the Moon.
He was born at Marbach, in Württemberg, and brought up at Esslingen in poor circumstances. A self-taught mathematician, he earned a living by teaching mathematics while still a youth. He had already published two original geometrical works when, in 1746, he entered J.B. Homann's cartographic establishment at Nuremberg. Here he introduced many improvements in mapmaking, and gained a scientific reputation which led (in 1751) to his election to the chair of economy and mathematics at the University of Göttingen. In 1754 he became superintendent of the observatory, where he worked until his death in 1762.

In January 2008, Mikaelsson joined Port Vale on a one-month loan deal, joining up with team-mate Chris Herd. He played six games for the League One club, Vale lost four and drew two games. In July 2008, Mikaelsson was rewarded with a one year contract extension, keeping him at the club until the summer of 2009. Tobias Mullen
Tobias Mullen (March 4, 1818 – April 22, 1900) was an Irish-born clergyman of the Roman Catholic Church. He served as Bishop of Erie from 1868 to 1899.
Tobias Mullen was born in Urney, County Tyrone, the youngest of the six sons of James and Mary (née Travers) Mullen. He was educated at Castlefin school and at Maynooth College, where he studied theology and received minor orders. In 1843, he accepted an invitation from Bishop Michael O'Connor to join the Diocese of Pittsburgh in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania.
After completing his theological studies, he was ordained to the priesthood by Bishop O'Connor on September 1, 1844. He served for about two years as curate at the Cathedral of Pittsburgh, and was afterwards charged with the care of congregations at Johnstown and in Jefferson County. He was transferred to the rectorship of St. Peter's Church at Allegheny in 1854, and served as vicar general of the Diocese of Pittsburgh from 1864 to 1868.
On March 3, 1868, Mullen was appointed the third Bishop of Erie by Pope Pius IX. He received his episcopal consecration on the following August 2 from Bishop Michael Domenec, with Bishops James Frederick Wood and Louis Amadeus Rappe serving as co-consecrators. During his 31-year-long administration many priests were ordained, parishes established, churches and schools built, and conferences for the clergy held. He also founded the weekly Lake Shore Visitor, an orphanage, and two hospitals. His greatest accomplishment was the erection of St. Peter's Cathedral. Originally dubbed as "Mullen's Folly," its cornerstone was laid in 1875 and it was later dedicated in 1893.

Tobias Picker (born New York City, July 18, 1954) is an American composer. Picker began composing at the age of eight and studied at the Manhattan School of Music, The Juilliard School and Princeton University, where his principal teachers were Charles Wuorinen, Elliott Carter and Milton Babbitt. He received his first commissions while still in his late teens and quickly became established as one of America's most sought after young composers.

In 1992, he received the prestigious Award in Music from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. From 1985–1990 Picker was the first composer-in-residence of the Houston Symphony. Tobias Picker will be inducted into the American Academy of Arts and Letters in May 2012.

Tobias Rau (born 31 December 1981 in Braunschweig, Lower Saxony) is a retired German footballer, who played as a left defender.
In a career blighted by injuries, he was forced to retire at only 27.
After making his professional debuts in the lower leagues with hometown Eintracht Braunschweig, Rau moved to VfL Wolfsburg in the first division, where he amassed more than 50 official appearances; his league debut came on 18 August 2001, in a 1–1 home draw against SC Freiburg.
Rau's solid performances caught the attention of league powerhouse FC Bayern Munich. However, several serious injuries and stiff competition from Frenchmen Willy Sagnol and Bixente Lizarazu restricted his chances to 13 league appearances (with a further seven matches for the amateur side).
In July 2005, Rau moved to Arminia Bielefeld, where he also would also be a backup and suffer severely with injuries (only an average of eight league contests in four years), being released on 30 June 2009, before announcing his retirement on 6 July.

When released as a single via Sony BMG Domestic on March 14, 2006, it instantly entered the charts at number-one in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland, simultaneously emerging as the biggest-selling single since 2004 within its first week of release. The song was eventually certified platinum by the IFPI for more than 300,000 copies sold.

Tobias Rustat
Tobias Rustat (1606?-1694) was a servant to Charles II and benefactor of the University of Cambridge. He is best remembered for creating the first fund for the purchase of books at the Cambridge University Library. The Rustat Conferences based at Jesus College, Cambridge are named after him.
After an apprenticeship to a barber-surgeon in London, Rustat entered the service of William Feilding, 1st Earl of Denbigh, before becoming servant to George Villiers, 2nd Duke of Buckingham. An ardent Royalist, Rustat joined Buckingham in an uprising in Kent, where he saved the Duke's life. He was also present following the Battle of Worcester and aided Prince Charles's escape. In 1648 he escaped to the continent with Buckingham. During this time Rustat acted as a courier between England and the exiled king's court.
In 1650 Rustat was made Yeoman of the Robes to Charles II, remaining in the position until the king's death in 1685.
Rustat is buried in the chapel of Jesus College, Cambridge.
In his later life Rustat became an important benefactor to a number of colleges of the University of Cambridge, in particular to Jesus College where his father had been a student. In 1666 he created the first fund for the purchase of books at the Cambridge University Library with a donation of £1000. The books purchased from the fund were stamped with Rustat's crest.

About the time of the sale, his story "In Orbite Medievali" won a quarterly contest for the Writers of the Future. Since then his stories have appeared in a variety of places, including the magazines Analog and Nature, and the anthologies New Voices in Science Fiction, Men Writing Science Fiction As Women, and So Long Been Dreaming.
His first novel, Crystal Rain, was published in February 2006 by Tor Books. His second novel, Ragamuffin was published in 2007, and was nominated for the illustrious Nebula award for that year. Sly Mongoose, his third novel, was published in August 2008. His first short story collection, Tides from the New Worlds, was published as a signed limited edition hardcover by Wyrm Publishing in April 2009.

Tobias Schneebaum (March 25, 1922 – September 20, 2005) was an American artist, anthropologist, and AIDS activist. He is best known for his experiences living, and traveling among the Harakmbut people of Peru, and the Asmat people of Papua, Western New Guinea, Indonesia then known as Irian Jaya.
He was born on Manhattan's Lower East Side and grew up in Brooklyn. In 1939 he graduated from the Stuyvesant High School, moving on to the City College of New York, graduating in 1943 after having majored in mathematics and art. During World War II he served as a radar repairman in the U.S. Army.
In 1947, after briefly studying painting with Rufino Tamayo at the Brooklyn Museum of Art, Schneebaum went to live and paint in Mexico for three years, living among the Lakadone tribe. In 1955 he won a Fulbright fellowship to travel and paint in Peru. After hitch-hiking from New York to Peru, he lived with the Harakmbut people for seven months, where he slept with his male subjects and claimed to have joined the tribe in cannibalism on one occasion.

Tobias Simon was a Miami civil rights lawyer, perhaps best known for his work in the 60's, defending the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and other activists. Mr. Simon, provided legal counsel regarding marches in Florida and throughout the Deep South. Simon also was a leader of Florida opposition to the death penalty in the 1960s and 1970s and was particularly concerned about the discriminatory imposition of the death penalty on blacks.
Simon was a native of Montreal, a graduate of Harvard Law School, began his law career in New York, and moved to Miami. He died of cancer in February 1982, at the age of 52.
The Tobias Simon Pro Bono Service Award, created in 1982, is Florida’s highest statewide pro bono award. It is presented annually by the chief justice to a private lawyer for voluntary, free legal services to the poor. It is intended to encourage extraordinary contributions by recognizing the Florida attorney who best exemplifies the highest ideals of the profession by making legal services available to people who otherwise could not afford them, and to focus public awareness on the substantial voluntary services rendered by Florida lawyers in this area. Tobias Sippel (born 22 March 1988 in Bad Dürkheim) is a German football goalkeeper who plays for 1. FC Kaiserslautern in the Fußball-Bundesliga.

Tobias George Smollett (19 March 1721 – 17 September 1771) was a Scottish poet and author. He was best known for his picaresque novels, such as The Adventures of Roderick Random (1748) and The Adventures of Peregrine Pickle (1751), which influenced later novelists such as Charles Dickens. His novels were amended liberally by printers; a definitive edition of each of his works was edited by Dr. O. M. Brack, jr. to correct variants.
Smollett was born at Dalquhurn, now part of Renton, in present-day West Dunbartonshire, Scotland. He was the son of a judge and land-owner, and was educated at the University of Glasgow, qualifying as a surgeon. His career in medicine came second to his literary ambitions, and in 1739 he went to London to seek his fortune as a dramatist. Unsuccessful, he obtained a commission as a naval surgeon on HMS Chichester and travelled to Jamaica, where he settled down for several years. In 1742 he served as a surgeon during the disastrous campaign to capture Cartagena. On his return, he set up practice in Downing Street and married a wealthy Jamaican heiress, Anne Lascelles, in 1747. They had a daughter Elizabeth (only daughter) who died aged 15 years about 1762. He was the fourth son of Archibald Smollett of Bonhill, who died about 1726 and Barbara Cunningham who died about 1766. He had a brother, Capt. Tobias Stephan (born January 21, 1984) is a Swiss professional ice hockey goaltender currently playing for Genève-Servette of the Swiss National League A (NLA). He formerly played for the Dallas Stars of the National Hockey League.
Stephan was drafted 34th overall in the second round of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft by the Dallas Stars, and is the third highest Swiss drafted in history. He is the fourth Swiss goalie who has been drafted by an NHL team after Pauli Jaks, David Aebischer and Martin Gerber.
Stephan first played for EHC Chur and then for the Kloten Flyers in Switzerland.
Stephan made his first career NHL start on October 13, 2007 against the Chicago Blackhawks, since both of the Stars' goaltenders — Marty Turco and Mike Smith — were injured. Until the Blackhawks tied the game with two seconds remaining in regulation, Stephan had saved all 39 shots and was looking forward to a shutout in his first game. However, the Blackhawks scored again on their first shot in overtime and won the game 2–1. He would go back to the AHL after the game . Before the 08/09 season started, he would learn that he will be backing up Marty Turco. His first win was on October 29 against the Minnesota Wild — the Stars won 4–2. Stephan left the Stars on July 31, 2009 to sign for Genève-Servette in Switzerland.

Tobias Stimmer
Tobias Stimmer (7 April 1539 – 4 January 1584) was a Swiss painter and illustrator. His most famous work is the paintings on the Strasbourg astronomical clock. He died in Strasbourg.
He was born in Schaffhausen, and was active in Schaffhausen, Strasbourg and Baden-Baden as a wall and portrait painter. He made a great number of drawings for woodcuts (Bible scenes, allegories, etc.) which were published by the printer Sigmund Feyerabend in Frankfurt am Main, and Bernhart Jobin in Strasbourg.
Stimmer followed Hans Holbein the Younger, but developed his own mannerism. Among his wall paintings remain the "House zum Ritter" in Schaffhausen, although this was actually much restored and changed.

Tobias Benjamin Unger (born 10 July 1979 in Munich) is a German athlete, specialist in 100 m and 200 m. Unger is 1.79 metres tall, weighing 70 kilograms.
Tobias Unger comes from Wendlingen am Neckar and studied sport science at the University of Tübingen and trained in Ludwigsburg. His trainer is the Romanian Micky Corucle. He was the tenth fastest 200 m runner in 2005, and the second fastest European that year. His personal bests in his two disciplines are 10.14 seconds (100 m) and 20.20 seconds (200 m).
Unger represented Germany at the 2008 Summer Olympics. In Beijing he competed in the 100 metres sprint and placed 4th in his heat behind Churandy Martina, Naoki Tsukahara and Simeon Williamson, normally causing elimination. However his time of 10.46 was the 10th fastest losing time, giving him a spot in the second round. There he improved his time to 10.36 seconds, but he was unable to qualify for the semifinals as he finished 7th place in his heat. Together with Till Helmke, Alexander Kosenkow and Martin Keller he also competed at the 4x100 metres relay. In their qualification heat they placed third behind Jamaica and Canada, but in front of China. Their time of 38.93 was the sixth-fastest out of sixteen participating nations in the first round, and they qualified for the final. There they sprinted to a time of 38.58 seconds, which was the fifth-best time.

Tobias Verhaecht (Antwerp, 1561 – 1631) was a painter and draughtsman active in Antwerp, Florence and Rome. Primarily a landscape painter, his style is indebted to mannerist world landscapes of artists like Joachim Patinir with high viewpoints, fantastic distant perspectives and three-colour scheme. Before Verhaecht entered Antwerp's guild of St. Luke in 1590–91, he had already spent time in Italy, first in Florence, and then as a fresco painter in Rome. Peter Paul Rubens, who was a relative by marriage, studied with him around 1592, and another student was his own son, Willem van Haecht. Verhaecht is also known for his designs for prints.

Tobias Whale is a comic book villain, a fictional character created by Tony Isabella and Trevor Von Eeden as Black Lightning's nemesis. He first appeared in Black Lightning #1 (April 1977).
Tobias Whale is an African American albino, who worked his way up from the rackets to head the Metropolis branch of the 100. A school teacher named Jefferson Pierce spoke out against the 100's drug trafficking, and so they made an example of one of his students. Seeking to avenge the murdered student, Pierce becomes Black Lightning.
Pierce is so successful that Tobias is sent to jail. When he breaks out of prison some months later he teams up with Syonide II in order to distribute a new highly addictive drug. The drug's formula was supposedly in the possession of a woman named Violet Harper. Tobias sends Syonide to retrieve the formula, unable to gain any information or find any trace of the formula, Syonide kills Harper.
Violet Harper later comes back to life when an Aurakle possesses her lifeless body, this new being called herself Halo. Once he learned of Harper's resurrection, Tobias assumed that she must have memorized the formula. But since Harper has no memories from before her death, a frustrated Syonide killed her parents.

Wolff was born in 1945 in Birmingham, Alabama. Wolff is the Ward W. and Priscilla B. Woods Professor in the School of Humanities and Sciences at Stanford University, where he has taught classes in English and creative writing since 1997. He also served as the director of the Creative Writing Program at Stanford from 2000 to 2002.
Prior to his current appointment at Stanford, Wolff taught at Syracuse University from 1980 to 1997. While at Syracuse he served on the faculty with Raymond Carver and was an instructor in the graduate writing program. Authors who worked with Wolff while they were students at Syracuse include Jay McInerney, Tom Perrotta, George Saunders, Alice Sebold, William Tester, Paul Griner, Ken Garcia, and Paul Watkins.

Tobías Zúñiga Castro (February 10, 1854 - June 24, 1918) was a Costa Rican politician. He served as a diplomat and was Secretary of State. He was a member of the People's Party.
He was born in San Jose, Costa Rica, on February 10, 1854. He was the son of Pedro Zúñiga y Meléndez. He married Rosario Montúfar, the daughter of Lorenzo Montúfar, on November 7, 1875. He was Secretary of the Interior, police and promotions from April 30 to July 20, 1889.
In the election of 1905, he ran for President against Máximo Fernández Alvarado, Bernardo Soto Alfaro, Cleto González Víquez, and Ezequiel Gutiérrez Iglesias. For the run-off election scheduled to occur in April 1906, Fernández and Soto threw their support behind him. It seemed likely that he would win, but in march 1906, President Esquivel suspended civil liberties and had him expelled from the country. He, Fernandez, and Soto fled to New York. Cleto González Víquez became president.
After a time, he returned form exile, but had no further involvement in politics. He died in San José on June 24, 1918.
