Identity and Destiny The Book of Exodus: What is bondage and what is freedom? This week we begin the second book of the Torah, the book of Exodus, which tells of the formation of Israel's identity as a nation with a unique destiny. But the Torah is alive, and the account has a contemporary ring: questions, parallels and recurring themes abound. This week's Temple Talk features a lively discussion of the essence ancient and modern bondage, and the paradigm of true freedom which the Torah beckons and guides us to achieve. Leaders reject Netanyahu calls for Jewish mass migration to Israel European leaders have rejected calls by the Israeli prime minister, Binyamin Netanyahu, for Jews to migrate en masse to Israel, pledging to ensure their safety at home. Following shootings in Copenhagen at the weekend, Netanyahu echoed remarks he made after the Paris attacks on Charlie Hebdo and a kosher supermarket in January, saying on Sunday: “This wave of terror attacks can be expected to continue, including antisemitic and murderous attacks. We say to the Jews, to our brothers and sisters, Israel is your home and that of every Jew. Israel is waiting for you with open arms.” But the French prime minister, Manuel Valls – who was speaking after several hundred Jewish headstones were vandalised at a cemetery in eastern France – said that he regretted Netanyahu’s call, noting that the Israeli prime minister was “in the midst of a general election campaign”. The French president, François Hollande, insisted on Monday that he would not allow people to believe that “Jews no longer have a place in Europe” . “Jews have their place in Europe and, in particular, in France,” he said. The German chancellor, Angela Merkel, said her government would do everything possible to make sure Jewish sites were secure. “We are glad and thankful that there is Jewish life in Germany again,” Merkel said in Berlin. “And we would like to continue living well together with the Jews who are in Germany today.” Denmark’s chief rabbi, Jair Melchior, said he was disappointed by Netanyahu’s remarks. He said on Sunday: “Terror is not a reason to move to Israel. “People from Denmark move to Israel because they love Israel, because of Zionism but not because of terrorism. If the way we deal with terror is to run somewhere else, we should all run to a deserted island.” His comments were echoed on Monday by Denmark’s ambassador to Israel, Jesper Vahr. “The Danish Jews’ solution is not to leave the country and, as our prime minister said, the attack on the Jewish community in Copenhagen is an attack on all the citizens of Denmark. “I don’t think the solution is to leave. We consider the Jewish community to be an integral part of Danish society, and we will do everything so that it feels safe. This is an attack on all the citizens of Denmark.” Rabbi Menachem Margolin, head of the European Jewish Association, also condemned Netanyahu’s call for mass migration of European Jews to Israel as unacceptable, while calling on Europe’s governments to improve security for Jewish schools, synagogues and other establishments. “This is an unacceptable call. I criticised the Israeli government for this call after the Paris attack. I think that by saying ‘come to Israel’ you basically say: ‘There is no way to protect you where you are, so please come to Israel.’ People who live in Europe have the full right to live with full security.” Former Israeli president Shimon Peres also criticised calls for Europe’s Jews to move to Israel as political. Speaking at an event organised by the Times of Israel, he said that while he “would like every Jew who wants to come to Israel to please come … I don’t want it to be a political position. Don’t come to Israel because of a political position, but because you want to come and live in Israel. Israel must remain a land of hope and not a land of fear.”
a group of Jewish leaders representing 18 communities throughout North America traveled on the JFNA Solidarity Mission to France. They visited the historic Victoire Synagogue and the Hyper Cacher Market, met with France's Chief Rabbi and received briefings from security experts and the French Jewish community leadership. Below is one of two videos from the mission to Paris, narrated by David Brown, Chair, Global Operations: Israel and Overseas Council, who is leading the mission.

I’d like to share a few thoughts today about Jewish leadership. Our Torah cycle now introduces us to Moses, the greatest Jewish leader of all time. And this is our first Shabbat without Jack Geller. One of our congregation’s finest leaders.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made the following remarks at the start of his meeting today with French Jewish community leaders: English captions available “First of all, I would like to thank you, leaders of the French Jewish community, for the warm hospitality. Yesterday’s event in the La Victoire synagogue was emotional. I was also moved at the meeting with the bereaved families. I embraced the two brothers and I told them that I understand their feelings very well and that the entire Jewish People embraces the families. This was a moment of genuine Jewish solidarity. The visit to Paris was also a moment of general solidarity with humanity. As soon as the security problem was resolved, thus allowing me to come, it was natural that I come here, it was important that I come here and therefore I came here. There is great significance in what the world saw, the Prime Minister of Israel marching with all the world leaders in a united effort against terrorism, or at least in a call for unity. This is something the State of Israel has been saying for many years. This is what we are saying here today with one simple addition: If the world does not unite now against terrorism, the blows that terrorism has struck here will increase in a magnitude that can scarcely be conceived; therefore, I hope that Europe will unite. I hope that it will also take action. Israel supports Europe in the struggle against terrorism and the time has come for Europe to support Israel in the exact same struggle.” Video: GPO Their excuse America was security and amount of time needed to put the trip together.. All the other leaders managed to make it and had no problem with security. Our American presidential leadership is disgusting. If it was a rally for the Muslims, he would have been there in a heartbeat! Many many many are praying for ️Israel ❤️😍❤️🙏🌹❤️ I wonder if the reason that our president didn't sent proper representation was due to the fact that, 1. The newspaper satirists poked fun at Islam and 2. Those in the Deli tragedy were Jewish. I can't help but think that those 2 factors had something to do with the decision to by pass the solidarity march Netanyahu's message: Israel has shown its support for Europe's right to fight terror! Now let's see Europe support Israel's right to fight terror! United we stand...divided we fall!

He also said the O.U. will retain “one of the leading political strategists in New York” to guide the effort. The O.U. declined to disclose the strategist’s identity.“We all recognize that the real solution to the tuition crisis lies in using our political power and our advocacy efforts to increase state and local government funding for yeshivot and day schools,” Fagin said Saturday night at a speech at the O.U.’s biannual convention, which drew a crowd of about 350 to a hotel in this suburban village not far from Manhattan. The O.U.’s conference also saw the organization’s first-ever election of a group of women as national officers. While the board of directors has had female members since the mid-1970s, only men had been serving as national vice presidents, senior vice presidents or associate vice presidents. The new slate elected over the weekend includes three female national vice presidents and two associate vice presidents. In all, 20 women serve on O.U.’s 68-member board. “Sadly, we at the O.U. lagged behind many other professions and many other parts of the community in promoting women to leadership opportunities,” Marian Stoltz-Loike, one of the newly elected associate vice presidents, said at a conference session Sunday titled “Bringing Orthodox Jewish Women into the Leadership Table.” TAGS abc breaking news, bbc, bbc football, bbciplayer, bbc news, bbc news america, bbcpersian, bbc sport, bbc weather, bbc world news, breaking celebrity news, breaking election news, breaking late news, breaking local news, breaking music news, breaking news, breaking news alerts, breaking news canada, breaking news headlines, breaking news in atlanta, breaking news in nigeria, breaking news india, breaking news pensacolaflorida, breaking news plane crash, breaking news story, breaking sports news, business expensive news home media world, christian world news, cnn, cnn breaking news, cnn money, cnn news, cnn news breaking news, cnn news world, detroit breaking news, global news, headline, headline news, health care technology news, hot latest global news, internet technology news, lasvegas breaking news, latest breaking news, latest celebrity news, latest information technology news, latest music news, latest news, latest news headlines, latest news update, latest sports news, live breaking news, local breaking news, local news today, msn breaking news, nbc breaking news, nbc world news, news of the world, news report us world, news today news, news updated daily, solar technology news, sports news today, technology news, the latest news, today news, us news and world, us news and world report, us news and world report magazine, us news and world report web site, us news world report, world news, world news daily, world news headlines.
WEST NYACK - Jewish leaders in Rockland are on heightened alert after a man walked in to a Brooklyn synagogue early Tuesday morning and allegedly stabbed a Jewish student in the head. Rabbi Avremel Kotlarsky, leader of the Chabad Lubavitch of Rockland, says he was disturbed by the vicious attack. The attack, which was captured on video, took place at the Chabad Lubavitch headquarters in Crown Heights. The suspect, identified as 49-year-old Calvin Peters, can be seen with the knife that he allegedly had just used to stab 22-year-old Levi Rosenblat. Police can be heard telling Peters to drop the knife, which he apparently did, but later picked it up again. Police say he lunged at an officer, who fired one fatal shot. Eyewitnesses say the attacker was heard repeatedly saying "kill the Jews" before being shot. Officials at the Rockland County Sheriff's Department have stepped up their patrols, but insist it is not directly related to the incident. Officials say residents can expect to see an increased presence around houses of worship throughout the holiday season.

http://JewishHistory.org Faith and Fate is a documentary telling the story of the Jews in the 20th Century. The first Episode is called, "The Dawn of the Century" and covers 1900 - 1910. This episode introduces the uniqueness of Jewish history in the 20th century within the context of world history. At the turn of the 20th century, Jews were scattered across the globe, representing only ¼ of one percent of the worlds population. It was a time of empires, imperial rule and colonial expansionism. In Russia the masses, including the Jews, lived in dire poverty which was compounded by grassroots antisemitism. In 1905 the Russian masses revolted and there was a general strike. On Bloody Sunday the Czar responded with force. The Czar did not abdicate until 1917, which is typically the date given for the second Russian Revolution, which, in turn, led to increased pogroms against the Jews. The pogroms and the economic conditions forced approximately 40% of Jewish population to leave the Russian Empire and go to Western countries including the United States and to Palestine and other countries as far away as South Africa and Australia. Emigration and the Enlightenment presented Jews with the dilemma and opportunity to maintain or reject their traditional Jewish upbringing, and many decided to forgo their traditional Judaism and blend in with their larger non-Jewish society. Within the traditional Jewish world, change was occurring as well, with the rise and acceptance of the Mussar Movement, an ethical approach to Judaism. Because Jews were not allowed into institutions of higher education in Eastern Europe, most of them went to study in yeshivas to sharpen their intellect. The traditional yeshiva, unintentionally, became a breeding ground for all philosophies, Jewish and secular alike. Zionism grew as a national movement, and was led by secular Jews antithetical to traditional Judaism. While most rabbis rejected Zionism and its leaders, because of their nontraditional beliefs, a minority of rabbis developed religious Zionism, which combined traditional Judaism with Zionist philosophy. The Old Yishuv Jews, who had settled in Palestine in the late 1800s, were committed to traditional Judaism and rejected secular, nationalistic ideas of the New Yishuv Zionists. The Sephardic Jews living in Moslem and Arab countries at the turn of the 20th Century maintained their own rich Jewish traditions and heritage, which often differed from those of the Ashkenazim. There was relative peace within the Jewish community and among the leadership in these Arab and Moslem countries, and although life was sometimes difficult, these Sephardic Jews did not experience, by and large, pogroms or the influences of the Enlightenment or Reform Judaism. In Europe, Jews were the leaders of the Labor and Socialist movements and spearheaded the establishment of labor unions in America. The challenge of assimilation in the United States was the greatest difficulty confronting Jewish immigrants. Attempts were made to stem the tide. Reform Judaism became a symbol of acceptance into modern American society and Dr. Solomon Schechter initiated the Universal Synagogue movement which became Conservative Judaism. Also Sephardic and Ashkenazic Jewish immigrants had to find their respective places within the Jewish community and in their new host country, the United States, as well.. A small, strong group of American Jewish immigrants managed to cling to their Jewish traditions and adapt themselves to the new reality in America. Meanwhile, for Jews around the world, with the threat of WWI looming, the imperial race for supremacy was escalating.Twitter: http://twitter.com/#!/agentkmedia Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/pages/AgentKMedia-Kostya-Vasilkov/223572797717662?sk=wall Wiki's FB Page: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Wicki/174108196015229 Sexy and i know it - Parody version download: http://www.mediafire.com/?vfelb6y6g

Feel free to copy this video and help spread the truth the palestinians seek to deny. Jerusalem : Muslims and Jews Or : How and why palestinians desecrate the Temple Mount and Jerusalem. One of the most important videos on youtube that sheds light on the Jewish-Arab conflict. Jerusalem has been a Jewish holy city since the days of King David . 3000 years ago. At that time the Arabs were still pagans who used to worship idols such as Al Uzza, Al Lat and Al Mannat at the Kaaba. (Jahiliyya period) In the year 638 CE the muslims captured Jerusalem from the Byzantines and built a mosque on the site of the Jewish holy Temple. While Jews pray facing Jerusalem and the Temple mount , Muslims pray towards Mecca. When Muslims pray in Jerusalem they point their behind to the Dome of the rock and the temple mount. An Islamic holy site ? Palestinians use the temple mount as a playground where they have picnics and play soccer. Sary Nusseibeh , palestinian professor and the president of the Al Quds university had to go underground after admitting that the temple mount is a Jewish holy site. Ibn Taymiyyah (1263-1328) , whose writings influenced the Wahhabi movement in arabia ruled that sacred islamic sites are to be found only in the Arabian Peninsula and that " in Jerusalem, there is not a place one calls sacred , and the same holds true for the tombs of Hebron" Jerusalem is mentioned in the Bible 667 times , while in the Quran : 0 times . According to the quran , the holy land was written by Allah to Israel (quran 5:21) and that the Jews will return to their land (quran 17:104) The jews are coming back home from the diaspora . Ezekiel 36:24 "For i will take you from among the nations , gather you out of all countries, and bring you back into your own land" Jeremiah 29:14 "I will be found by you," declares the LORD, "and will bring you back from captivity. I will gather you from all the nations and places where I have banished you," declares the LORD, "and will bring you back to the place from which I carried you into exile." Isaia 62:1 "For Zion's sake I will not keep silent, for Jerusalem's sake I will not remain quiet, till her righteousness shines out like the dawn, her salvation like a blazing torch."
