Road Trip into Tawang - Arunachal Pradesh.
Arunachal Pradesh is a sensitive state in North East India. Its a region China calls ''Southern Tibet'' and refuses to acknowledge Indian sovereignty here. China had invaded this region in 1962 in a surprise attack but withdrew just as quickly. To counter any future incursions the Indian Army has colonized the entire state. Cantonments are everywhere and army trucks clog the highways. Tawang Monastery -India's largest Buddhist monastery however still exudes an old world charm. More pics at www.sanjayausta.com

Journey towards Tawang, Arunachal
This upload is about the journey to Tawang, Arunachal, India. The journey passes through some very picturesque spots and alpine terrain, almost right till the Indo-China border to Tawang. Soon as you are on your way to Arunachal, you encounter the tall Sals of Nameri National Park. Then you are greeted by the majestic Kameng River. Dirang town and river fall along the way, before a serious climb to Sela Pass. This pass is at a height of 13000 feet and the landscape beyond is surreal. See it to believe it, words/pics/videos will be wholly inadequate. Then you pass through some towns that seem to nestle at all improbable corners. Some of the views entering these towns remind one of Tintin comics (forget which specific one). Then comes Jung falls, which are named after a local Buddhist philosopher. Ironically these falls are now popularly called Shah Rukh Khan falls after this Indian movie hero made a movie these. May be if enough of us call go there and call it Jung Falls, this travesty will be corrected eventually. Somehow this very pretty corner of the earth seems to miss the tourist circuits. Hopefully this video and a few others on youtube will encourage more visitors to Arunachal and also to other states in North East of India (together called 7 Sisters states). Also some practical advice at the end of the video, and a word of caution about our greedy travel agent Anjaana Safar.

Exclusive -Tawang India China Border, India China War 50 years
Since the 1962 war, this route is very important for the north-east due to the Indo-china border. But unfortunately the condition of roads over Indian side is horrible.Constant landslips, frequent blockades are recurring in nature.

Watch: Rare visuals of Dalai Lama's escape in 1959 from Tibet to Tawang
Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh was the battle ground, which saw the 1962 Sino-Indian conflict. But exactly three years before that in 1959, it was in Tawang itself that the Dalai Lama had arrived after his escape from Tibet. Here is a look at the rare film footage of that escape. After a 15 day trek, on 30th March in 1959, 24-year-old Dalai Lama crossed over to Tawang in the Northeast Frontier Agency.

Tawang the beautiful Buddhist tourist place of North East India Arunachal Pradesh
Tawang is one of the most beautiful, serene and exotic tourist place of North East India. It falls on Buddhist Tourist Circuit of Eastern India. Its wholesome beauty lies in the hilly snow clad terrain and its colourful lovely people. It is a total different world from rest of India. Buddhism is the soul of Tawang. The air remains filled with chanting of Buddhist hymn. The video shows the snow clad Tawang on a shiny day after a heavy snow fall. The family of Mr. Dipak Deb and their friends are seen in the video.

nuranang falls, jang, tawang, arunachal pradesh
a very beautiful waterfall! it was one of the highlights of our tawang trip! the song tanhai tanhai tanhai from the 1997 bollywood movie koyla was shot in parts here also, besides at sangetser tso, located further beyond tawang! according to one interesting anecdote, though appears to be fabricated, it is named after NURA, a local monpa girl who helped mahavir chakra awardee jaswant singh rawat during the 1952 sino-indian war! she later committed suicide after the death of the soldier! apparently the name nuranang was in local use much earlier and the etymology as such is unknown to me at present! the wiki page on this waterfall is by me!
