26min Highlight Show @ UCI MTB WORLD CUP 2011 - Leogang 4X/ DHI - Round 5
Aaron Gwin (USA) just crossed the finish line after he had secured the last starting position with the best time in the qualifying and now the winners of the men's and women's DH race at the UCI World Cup stop in Leogang are set. None of the men was able to get close to Gwin's time (USA/3:44.181) and Floriane Pugin (FRA/4:29.427) finished with a comfortable lead ahead of her competitors. Cheered on by the spectators that had flocked to Saalfelden Leogang despite the changing weather, the athletes showed an absolutely spectacular race. About 13.000 mountain bike fans had come to Leogang on this long World Cup Weekend to attend this international biking highlight. _ The DH course in Leogang is famous for its technical sections that demand a great deal of concentration and skill of the riders. Especially the last passage with its roots made slippery from the rain posed quite a challenge for the riders. The track that measures 2.600 meters and stretches over 830 altitude meters, was a lot faster than last year, even though the mud did its part to slow the riders down. The Sunday afternoon was rung in by the ladies' DH finals. Even though the race itself took place in dry weather, the course was soft from the rain that had come down in buckets and especially the root section posed quite a challenge for many of the ladies, as well as the following men's race. Floriane Pugin (FRA) delivered a truly impressive run and overtook with her time of 4:29.427 the two British ladies ...

UCI Mountain Bike World Cup, downhill : Gwin recorded his fourth victory. The fifth round of the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup presented by Shimano in Windham, New York, concluded on Sunday with the fan-favourite Downhill. Rachel Atherton (Commencal) became the third woman to win a World Cup this season, while Aaron Gwin (Trek World Racing) recorded his fourth victory of the season before a wildly enthusiastic home crowd. Atherton had qualified second behind round three winner Floriane Pugin (Scott 11), who was widely considered the favourite for this short, fast, technical track. World Cup leader and world champion Tracy Moseley (Trek World Racing) qualified third. While Moseley took the lead with her run, Atherton smashed it on the next run by over two and a half seconds. Pugin managed to beat Moseley, but finished 1.348 seconds behind Atherton, who also won in Windham last year at the World Cup final. "I love this track," stated Atherton. "It's short, which suits me. It was really dry so I knew I had to go fast throughout. I'm really stoked to be number one here today." In the World Cup points standings Atherton gained enough points solidify her third place position at 820 points, and could still surpass Pugin with two races to go. Continuing as the points leader is Moseley with 1080 points, followed by Pugin with with 980. The women's World Cup title is far from decided. DOWNHILL FORT WILLIAM@UCI MTB WORLD CUP 2011
Some familiar faces returned to the top of the downhill podium in round two of the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup presented by Shimano. While Fort William celebrated its tenth anniversary of competition, Tracy Moseley (Trek World Racing) celebrated her fifth victory in seven years at the Scottish venue. Rachel Atherton (Commencal) made it a 1-2 British day for the women, with France taking the rest of the top-5 spots. Moseley's second consecutive win gives her a significant 170 point lead over second ranked Floriane Pugin (Scott 11) in the overall rankings. "It's pretty amazing. To come here as World Champion is pretty special, but to come here as World Champion and manage to win, it's just awesome," commented Moseley. "The crowd is amazing, which makes it such a pleasure to ride and to push harder and harder. It means a lot to win here, to win five times here ... I'm happy. I really pushed, I knew Rach [Atherton] was going to be tough; every time you race her, you know she's going to be hard to beat. It's good to have another British girl to push me. Guaranteed, it meant the crowd was going to get a British win one way or another." Men's competition: Minaar followed by new generation While Greg Minnaar (Santa Cruz Syndicate) took the win in round two for the men, it was the young riders who finished second and third - Danny Hart (Giant) and Brook MacDonald (MS Evil Racing) - who were the real story of the day, signalling the arrival of the next generation of downhillers ...

DHI Maribor@2010 UCI Mountain Bike World Cup
Womens Downhill: Victorious return to competition for Atherton The opening round of the downhill saw a slight easing of the rain overnight, rendering the course sticky and slower. Rachel Atherton, returning to competition after sitting out last season due to a shoulder surgery, did not have a good start to the weekend: she crashed in the qualifyiers, and had to ride with a broken finger. However, the 2008 World Champion blazed the course, the fastest at every split, beating second placed Sabrina Jonnier (Rocky Mountain-Maxxis) by 10 seconds and Floriane Pugin (Scott 11) by 13 seconds. "It hasn't sunk in yet; I can't believe it," exclaimed Atherton after her run. "I never thought I'd win. I came here hoping for a top five, so maybe being relaxed and having fun is the way to have a good run." Mens Downhill: Cautious start pays for Minnaar In the mens competition, Gee Atherton (Commencal) was the first of the top seeds to take the lead on a course that was fast becoming rutted and sticky. However, Greg Minnaar, more cautious in the upper technical portion, but powering through the lower third, took Athertons time down by a quarter of a second to become the first World Cup leader of the season. "I have always liked Maribor, but I've always performed badly on the track. So that has changed now," commented Minnaar. "I knew it was going to be a tough race, but decided to take it a bit safe and easy at the top, and ride a bit smoother; but it is so hard out there. I made a few ...

Floriane Pugin with her new Gambler
Our policy is shape, ride and shoot. It means that our free time is shared between some work on trails near the house, some ride with the friends and some video shooting with people we met. But sometimes we get very lucky because we can ride with World Cup pilots like Floriane Pugin from team Scott 11. It has also been a great honor when she said ok to take a few days with us to make a short clip with her new Scott Gambler 2013.
Visit www.shaperideshoot.com for more infos, videos and photos.

Scott Gambler 2013 / First ride
When we made the video with Floriane Pugin, we were astonished by the new Gambler. When Ben Walker called me a morning to know if we were interested in getting two bikes for a few days to make a video, I jumped on the occasion. The result is here, and the bike is like we love them : fast, rigid and allows some really dirty rides in roots or brake holes.

26min Highlight Show @ UCI MTB WORLD CUP 2011 - Mont-Sainte-Anne - 4X/ DHI
UCI Mountain Bike World Cup: top downhill riders extend their series leads. The crowd-pleasing downhill competitions rounded off the the Mont-Sainte-Anne leg of the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup presented by Shimano. Both Aaron Gwin (Trek World Racing) and Tracy Moseley (Trek World Racing), the men's and women's leaders in the World Cup, won their respective events in the Quebec resort, padding their leads after this fourth round. Moseley took her third win of the season to extend her lead in the overall women's standings to 140 points. Moseley, who had qualified first by an impressive 11.5 seconds, had more of a battle on her hands in the final, with second-ranked Floriane Pugin (Scott 11) finishing 1.850 seconds behind. Rachel Atherton (Commençal) finished third. "I've definitely got good memories from Mont-Sainte-Anne, when I won [the world title] here last year," commented Moseley. "But the course changed completely yesterday after it had been so wet all week. It had some big holes and was possibly the roughest Mont Sainte-Anne I have ever raced. It's really great to get the win here again, but it's the same top three every race, so I can't count on the title yet." Moseley now has 910 points to Pugin's 770, with Atherton in third at 580 points. Manon Carpenter (Madison Saracen) continues to lead the Junior World Cup, with 200 points. The Men's downhill was expected to be a battle between current leader Gwin from the United States and second-placed Greg Minnaar (Santa ...

Highlights Downhill@UCI MTB World Cup Val di Sole
Over 20.000 spectators in Val di Sole for the final stage of the 2011 World Cup Aaron Gwin wins the last race and the Cup Tracy Moseley comes in 5th and wins the overall Italy's Val di Sole has celebrated today the new Downhill World Cup champions Aaron Gwin and Tracy Moseley. The American rider had already wrapped up his first World Cup title in France at the beginning of August, but wanted to prove anyway that this year is absolutely unstoppable. Today he finished his race run with an astonishing time of 3mins and 10 seconds, more than 1.2 seconds over the fast time set by British Danny Hart, and over 41 km/h average speed. Gee Atherton of the UK, the 2008 World Champion in Val di Sole, jumped on the third step of the podium. Tracy Moseley drove quite cautiously, especially in the third section of the course, and finished 5th. The last race of the 2011 World Cup season was won by French national champion Myriam Nicole, ahead of countrywoman Floriane Pugin and Rachel Atherton of the UK. Despite this, Moseley earned enough points to eventually grab her second world cup title in career (the first was in 2006). Among Juniors, Troy Brosnan of Australia and Manon Carpenter of the UK won the overall standings. This morning, the Junior XC race took place in Val di Sole, and both Jolanda Neff (SUI) and Anton Cooper (NZL) easily won their respective race. At the end of the final episode of the 2011 UCI MTB World Cup, the Italian OC was praised from everyone for a great job done ...

26min Highlight Show @ UCI MTB WORLD CUP 2011 - Val di Sole - 4X/ DHI
The 2011 UCI Mountain Bike World Cup presented by Shimano concluded on Sunday in Val di Sole, Italy, with the crowd favourite Downhill. Myriam Nicole (Riding Addiction Commencal) took her first ever World Cup victory in the women's race, while Aaron Gwin (Trek World Racing) took a record fifth victory in a single season in the men's competition. Gwin had already locked up the men's title in the previous round, and his team mate Tracy Moseley held off a tight challenge from Floriane Pugin (Scott 11) to win the women's. Moseley was playing it safe, knowing that she only needed a top-seven to win the title, and not wanting to crash, slotted in behind Emmeline Ragot (Team GR). Rachel Atherton (Commencal), went third from last and took the lead below four minutes with a time of 3:54.405, however, Nicole came through right after, 2.2 seconds faster, which proved to be the winning run. Pugin, the fastest qualifier, and second in the World Cup standings, rode last, but finished eight-tenths of a second behind Nicole for second. "I don't believe it," Nicole said after her run, "maybe I will realize tonight. I didn't have a clean run, but I was all out on this track. I did not want to crash on the top, it was real hard and my hands hurt already. Near the finish I was [saying] "come on", and I did it." Moseley agreed that she was nervous before her run, "I wanted to race hard for the win, but when I hit the first [technical] section, I realized that I needed to play it safe and not ...
