A Modern Day Old Master - Artist Ed Copley Recreates John Singleton Copley
Ed Copley was born 204 years ... to the day (or a day later depending on the old records) of his great, great, great grandfather John Singleton Copley, called by The National Gallery of Art the foremost painter of Colonial America. The genius is now apparent in Ed and his artistic talent and restoration skills. The Timken Museum has a John Singleton Copley painting in its collection. Ed is now repainting Mrs. Thomas Gage in the style of his great, great, great grandfather. The new painting is sized at 40 inches in height and 32 inches in width. DM Productions LLC has been carefully documenting this artistic process from the initial sketch, the blocking out of the color, the mixing of his paints ... Ed makes all of his own pigments, and the now near-completion of the finalized portrait.- published: 14 Feb 2014

Ed Copley - Painting a Masterpiece
http://www.EdCopleyFineArt.com - http://www.DMProductionsLLC.com Ed Copley has recently completed a master portrait -- done in the style of his great, great, great grandfather John Singleton Copley (Paul Revere, John Adams, Watson and the Shark, John Hancock and the Boston Tea Party) known as Colonial America's first portrait painter -- and is unveiling that portrait along with other award winning artwork at Mainview Gallery in Scottsdale, Arizona. Art enthusiasts will get the chance to see how a master painting is done -- from the initial sketch, to the full under-painting to the highlights that bring the artwork to life. Copley has restored artwork for museums and collectors worldwide which helped him develop the style of the Old Masters. Copley's own masterpieces hang in prominent art collections and museums around the world.- published: 14 Feb 2014
