An Giang (
listen) is a province of Vietnam. It is located in the Mekong Delta, in the southwestern part of the country, sharing a border with Cambodia to the northwest.
An Giang occupies a position in the upper reaches of the Mekong Delta. The Hau Giang and Tien Giang branches of the Mekong are the dominant geographical features of the province. With the exception of the west, most of An Giang is fairly flat, and is criss-crossed by many canals and small rivers. This terrain has led to An Giang being a significant agricultural centre, producing significant quantities of rice. The Cam Mountains, also known as the Thất Sơn range or the "Seven Mountains", are located in the western Tịnh Biên District. Followers of the Bửu Sơn Kỳ Hương tradition, founded in An Giang in 1849, refer to these mountains as Bửu Sơn, "Precious Mountains".
Politically, An Giang is divided into nine districts:
An Giang includes 156 rural communes, wards and towns.
The cities of Long Xuyên (the provincial capital) and Châu Đốc, both of which are located on the Hau Giang branch of the Mekong, exist as independent municipalities.

Bạc Liêu ( listen) is a province of Vietnam. It is a coastal province, and is situated in the Mekong Delta region of the southern part of the country.
Formerly a territory of Cambodia, the name Bac Lieu is believed to derive from the Khmer language. The Khmer name for this province is Pol Leav.

Bạc Liêu is generally thought of as being in the Mekong Delta, although it is actually located slightly to the south of the Mekong's main outflows. Bạc Liêu is around 100 km south of Cần Thơ, the largest city in the Mekong Delta.
The most important parts of Bạc Liêu's economy are rice farming, fishing, food processing, and clothing manufacturing.
After the Fall of Saigon, 30 April 1975, Bạc Liêu and Cà Mau provinces were merged into one big province which was called Minh Hai. Although it is located in Vietnam, many years ago this land was a part of the Khmer Empire which ruled most of Indochina many centuries ago. It is still home to many ethnic Khmer people. In 1996, Minh Hai was split into two, with the northeast becoming Bac Lieu Province and the southwest becoming Ca Mau province.

Bac Ninh province
Bắc Ninh ( listen) is a province of Vietnam, located in the Red River Delta of the northern part of the country. It is situated to the east of the Vietnamese capital, Hanoi, and borders Bac Giang province, Hung Yen province, Hai Duong province, Vinh Phuc province, and Hanoi. The province is rich in culture and is known nationally for Quan họ folk music.
In terms of land area, Bắc Ninh is the smallest of all Vietnamese provinces (and in fact, is smaller than any of the five province-level municipalities). It is, however, home to a relatively large number of people for its size, having the highest population density of any province. On average, there are over 1,200 people for every square kilometre of land in Bắc Ninh.
Historically, Bắc Ninh province and the neighbouring Bac Giang Province were united as Ha Bac Province. However, the population growth resulted in Ha Bac being split into two new provinces, each based around one of the old province's two major settlements. The new Bắc Ninh Province was formed around the municipality of Bắc Ninh, while the modern Bắc Giang Province encompasses Bắc Giang Municipality and most of the old Ha Bac Province's rural districts.

Ben Tre province
Bến Tre ( listen) is a province of Vietnam. It is one of the country's southern provinces, being situated in the delta of the Mekong River.

Geographically, Bến Tre is wedged between the two main branches of the Tiền Giang River, which is itself one of the two main branches of the Mekong. The province's northern boundary is formed by the Tiền Giang's main course, while the province's southern boundary is formed by the Tiền Giang's largest branch (which breaks away from the Tiền Giang just upriver from Bến Tre province). Between the Tiền Giang and its main branch are two smaller branches, passing through the middle of Bến Tre.
The entire province is criss-crossed with a network of smaller rivers and canals. The extensive irrigation that this provides makes Bến Tre a major producer of rice, but also means that the area is prone to flooding. The Climate Change Research Institute at Cần Thơ University, in studying the possible consequences of climate change, has predicted that 51% of Bến Tre province can be expected to be flooded if sea levels rise by 1 meter. Bến Tre province is, on average, only 1.25 metres above sea level.

Binh Bridge
Binh Bridge is a cable-stayed bridge across the Cam river connecting the Hai Phong city with district of Thuy Nguyen and out to Quang Ninh.
Binh Bridge is a modern cable-stayed bridge, some 1280 metres long and 22.5 metres wide carrying four lanes for traffic and two pedestrian lanes. The clearance below of 25 meters (82 ft) allow 3000-DWT ships can go through. The bridge has concrete steel beam instances, continuous 17 span, the 102 metre tall towers are made of reinforced concrete.
Binh Bridge Construction Project was held by the joint venture contractors Ishikawajima Harima Heavy Industries Co. Ltd., and Sumitomo-Mitsui-Shimizu within 32 months. Owner is the Project Management Office for Customs, under the leadership of the People's Committee of Hai Phong City.
Binh Bridge was built from Binh ferry 1300 m, to end the frequent traffic congestion and inconvenience to travel here by ferry. In addition, this bridge will help the development and formation of a new urban area of Hai Phong in the north area is prohibited. Along with the Kien bridge construction project on Highway 10, Binh Bridge played an important part in connection with the Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, creating favorable conditions for the development of the transport network and the North economy of coastal areas in northern Vietnam.

Binh Dinh province
Bình Định ( listen) is a province of Vietnam. It is located in Vietnam's South Central Coast region.
Binh Dinh is divided into one city (Qui Nhơn) and 10 districts:
Binh Dinh was probably one of the places where the Cham first arrived in what is now Vietnam. Its favourable geography led to the rise of the Cham Port of Thi Nai where Quy Nhon is now located. The city-state of Vijaya was located around this port and the main city, which was further inland. Its centre was in the southern lowland of Binh Dinh. However, its architecture implies that it did not become important until the eleventh or twelfth century.
Vijaya’s architecture also distinguishes it from other Champa centers, since it used a combination of stone and brick elements, while most other Cham structures only used bricks. This suggests some influence from Cambodian Angkor. It also points to the relative abundance of labour in Vijaya compared to other Champa centers of powers, because processing stones for construction was more labour-intensive than the production of bricks.

Binh Duong province
Bình Dương ( listen) is a province of Vietnam. It is located in the southeastern part of the country, immediately to the north of Ho Chi Minh City. The province was created from Song Be province on January 1, 1997.
Bình Dương province is situated on relatively level terrain, and is crossed by the Saigon, Đồng Nai, and Bé rivers.
The area is considered to be good cropland, and agriculture is an important industry in the province. Binh Duong is also home to a significant manufacturing industry, and in the first half of 2004, the province had the second highest levels of foreign investment in Vietnam. Nike, Adidas, H&M and McDonald’s have set up factories to manufacture goods they sell locally and abroad in the province. The southern Dĩ An and Thuận An wards are highly urbanised and are now encompassed within the Ho Chi Minh city metropolitan area.

Originally, the area now known as Bình Dương was heavily forested, and was dominated by peoples of the Xtiêng, Cho Ro, Mnong, and Khmer Krom ethnic groups. In the 17th century, however, ethnic Vietnamese settlers arrived in the region from the east. Most were peasants, seeking to escape poverty by gaining land of their own. There were also a number of refugees from a war between two feudal houses. In 1698, there were enough people in the area that a prominent Vietnamese general was sent to establish official institutions and enforce law. From that point, Bình Dương developed rapidly, with extensive clearance of forests to make room for crops. The province is now dominated by ethnic Vietnamese.

Binh Phuoc province
Bình Phước ( listen) is a province of Vietnam. It is located in the southeastern region of the country, to the north of Ho Chi Minh City. It shares a border with Cambodia.
Binh Phuoc province is a merger of two previous provinces: Phuoc Long province and Binh Long province provinces, which existed before reunification. Both Phuoc Long and Binh Long then became part of Song Be province in 1976, which also included Binh Duong province. Song Be Province was dissolved in 1997 and Binh Phuoc again became a separate province.
Several significant battles were fought in what is now Binh Phuoc province. These include the Battle of Song Be in May 1965, the Battle of Đồng Xoài in June 1965, the Battle of Loc Ninh in April 1972, and the Battle of Phuoc Long December 1974 to January 1975.
Binh Phuoc Province is relatively flat with elevations of between 50m and 200m throughout most of the provinces. Elevations are gradually higher towards the east of the province and reach around 500m near parts of the border to the Central Highlands province of Dak Nong. The highest elevation is Ba Ra mountain (736m) in the centre of the province. There are several hills around the province with heights of up to around 200m in the west and 300m in the southeast.

Binh Thuan province
Bình Thuận ( listen) is a province of Vietnam. It is located on the country's South Central Coast, not far from Hồ Chí Minh City. It is sometimes seen as part of the Southeast Region. Bình Thuận is known for its scenery and for its good beaches. There are also a number of sites of archaeological significance.
Much of what is now Bình Thuận Province was part of the Cham principality of Panduranga, which had its political centre in neighbouring Ninh Thuan province. It was the last independent principality after the fall of Vijaya in 1471. Bình Thuận was later incorporated into Vietnam, while Ninh Thuận remained independent longer, until 1832.
Before 1976, Bình Thuận province was much smaller because much of the west was a separate province (Bình Tuy). Bình Tuy, Bình Thuận and Ninh Thuận were merged in 1976 to form Thuận Hải province. It was divided again into Ninh Thuận and Binh Thuận in 1991, while Bình Tuy remained part of Bình Thuận province.
Bình Thuận borders Lam Dong province in the north, Ninh Thuận in the north-east, and Dong Nai province and Bà Rịa–Vũng Tàu province in the west.

Buon Ma Thuot
Coordinates: 12°40′N 108°3′E / 12.667°N 108.05°E / 12.667; 108.05 Buôn Ma Thuột ( listen) (formerly Lac Giao) or sometimes Buon Ma Thuat or Ban Mê Thuột, is the capital city of Dak Lak Province, in the Central Highlands of Vietnam. Its population is approximately 300,000. The city is the largest in Vietnam's Central Highlands region and is famous as the regional "capital of coffee".
It is also a useful base for treks to nearby Yok Don National Park.
Buon Ma Thuot is served by Buon Ma Thuot Airport.
In 1904 Dak Lak Province was established by the French and Buon Ma Thuot was selected as the provincial administrative centre, rather than the trading center of Don on the Srepok River. Buon Ma Thuot was originally settled by the Ê Đê, but due to the incoming Viêt settlement after the Vietnam War and the active acculturation policy, less than 15% (around 40,000) are still Montagnards.
Buon Ma Thuot is the site of Tay Nguyen University.

Ca Mau province
Cà Mau ( listen) is a province of Vietnam, named after its capital city. It is located in the Mekong Delta of southern Vietnam, and is the southernmost of Vietnam's 58 provinces. It is bordered on the north by the Kiên Giang and Bạc Liêu provinces, on the west by the Gulf of Thailand, and on the south and east by the South China Sea (often referred to as the "East Sea".) Its name came from the Khmers who inhabited the area before the arrival of the Vietnamese, cà mau means "black" in Khmer.
Being surrounded by sea on three sides, fishing is an important industry in Cà Mau province. An extensive network of canals also supports a strong agricultural sector, as well as providing a popular means of transport. The U Minh biosphere reserve and Mũi Cà Mau, the southernmost point of Vietnam, serve also as important tourism destinations. The Mũi Cà Mau National Park is located at Mũi Cà Mau.
Its name came from the Khmers who inhabited the area before the arrival of the Vietnamese, Cà Mau means "black" in Khmer. The Khmer name for this province is Teuk Khmao, meaning "black water".

Cam Ranh

Cat Ba Island is one of the only populated islands in Ha Long Bay, with roughly 13,000 inhabitants living in six different communes, and 4,000 more inhabitants living on floating fishing villages off the coast. The large majority of the population can be found in Cat Ba Town which is located at the southern tip of the Island (15 km south of the national park) and is the commercial center on the Island. Cần Thơ ( listen), also Tay Do, is a city in Vietnam. The name comes from cầm thi giang - river of poems. The city, regarded as "Western capital", with an estimated population of 1,121,000 as of 2004, is the biggest city in the Mekong Delta. The city is located on the south bank of the Hậu River, the bigger branch of the Mekong River. It is 169 km from Hồ Chí Minh City, Vietnam’s largest city. Cần Thơ’s climate is tropical and monsoonal with two seasons: rainy, from May to November; and dry, from December to April. Average annual humidity is 83%, rainfall 1,635 mm and temperature 27 °C.
Cần Thơ City constitutes an independent municipality at the same level as provinces of Vietnam. It was created in the beginning of 2004 by a split of the former Cần Thơ Province into two new administrative units: Cần Thơ City and Hậu Giang Province.

The 6-lane Saigon-Can Tho Exressway is being built in parts from Ho Chi Minh City to Trung Luong of My Tho. The hydrofoil express boat links this city with Saigon.

Da Nang
Đà Nẵng ( listen) is a major port city in the South Central Coast of Vietnam, on the coast of the South China Sea at the mouth of the Hàn River. It is the commercial and educational center of Central Vietnam; its well-sheltered, easily accessible port and its location on the path of National Route 1A and the North-South Railway make it a hub for transportation. It is located within 100 km of several UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including the Imperial City of Huế, the Old Town of Hội An, and the Mỹ Sơn ruins. The city was previously known as Cửa Hàn during early Đại Việt settlement, and as Tourane (or Turon) during French colonial rule.
Before 1997, the city was part of Quảng Nam-Đà Nẵng Province. On 1 January 1997, Đà Nẵng was separated from Quảng Nam province to become one of five independent (centrally-controlled) municipalities in Vietnam. Đà Nẵng is listed as a first class city, and has a higher urbanization ratio than any of Vietnam's other provinces or centrally governed cities. Dak Lak province
Đắk Lắk ( listen) is a province of Vietnam. The name is also spelled Đắc Lắc, which is more in keeping with Vietnamese spelling, but the official spelling is Đắk Lắk. It is located in Vietnam's Central Highlands, and is home to a high number of indigenous people who are not ethnically Vietnamese (Việt).
The area now known as Đắk Lắk was originally controlled by the Kingdom of Champa. When Champa was conquered and annexed by Vietnam in the 15th century, Đắk Lắk was brought under loose Vietnamese rule. Later, in 1540, a noble named Bùi Tá Hán was appointed by the Vietnamese authorities to direct the settlement of the area by ethnic Vietnamese, bringing the highlands under more effective Vietnamese control. Military outposts were established in the area to guard against possible aggression from the west. Later, when Vietnam was occupied by the French, the French established a large number of plantations in the area. Resistance to French rule was strong in Đắk Lắk, with various minority tribes leading a number of significant rebellions. The most notable was a 23-year campaign led by N’Trang Lơng, a M’Nông tribal leader. Later, Đắk Lắk was part of South Vietnam, and saw considerable action in the Vietnam War.

Dien Bien Phu
Điện Biên Phủ ( listen) is a city in northwestern Vietnam. It is the capital of Điện Biên Province. The city is best known for the events which occurred there during the First Indochina War, the Battle of Điện Biên Phủ, during which the region was a breadbasket for the Việt Minh. The city was formally called Thaeng.
Statistics on Điện Biên Phủ's population vary depending on definitions — figures are generally between 70,000 and 125,000. The city is growing quickly, and is projected to have a population of 150,000 by 2020. The majority of the population is not ethnically Vietnamese - rather, Thai ethnic groups form the largest segment. Dong Ha was overrun on March 31, 1972, during the initial assaults of the North Vietnamese Easter Offensive.
Tourists come to Dong Ha nowadays, especially ex-servicemen from the U.S. and Vietnam, who nearly always include a DMZ tour in their programs. The contemporary Vietnamese singer Nhu Quynh was born in Dong Ha in 1970.

Gulf of Tonkin

The bay's Vietnamese and Chinese names – Vịnh Bắc Bộ and Běibù Wān, respectively – both mean "Northern Bay". The name Tonkin, written "東京" in Hán tự characters and Đông Kinh in romanised Vietnamese, means "Eastern Capital", and is the former toponym for Hanoi, the present capital of Vietnam. On 4 August 1964, United States President Lyndon B. Johnson erroneously claimed that North Vietnamese forces had twice attacked American destroyers in the Gulf of Tonkin. The Hà Nam, and Vietnam as a whole, implemented the second five-year plan between 1975 and 1980. As a result of these operations, a high number of co-operatives in the province reached 5 tons per ha by the year 1987. Furthermore, agrainian districts supplied tens of thousands of tons of food for the state.

Ho Chi Minh City
Ho Chi Minh City (Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh; listen), formerly named Saigon (Sài Gòn; listen) is the largest city in Vietnam. It was once known as Prey Nokor, an important Khmer sea port prior to annexation by the Vietnamese in the 17th century.
Under the name Saigon, it was the capital of the French colony of Cochin-china and later of the independent state of South Vietnam from 1955–75. South Vietnam, as an anti-communist state, fought against the communist North Vietnamese and Viet Cong during the Vietnam War, with aid from the United States of America and countries including Australia, New Zealand and South Korea. Saigon fell when it was captured by the communists on 30 April 1975, bringing an end to the War with its enemy's victory. Vietnam was then turned into a communist state with the South overtaken. He was a younger son of Emperor Gia Long, whose eldest son, Crown Prince Cảnh, had died in 1801. Minh was well known for his opposition to French involvement in Vietnam, and for his rigid Confucian orthodoxy.

Khanh Hoa province

Kon Tum
Kon Tum is the capital town of Kon Tum province in Vietnam. It is located inland in the Central Highlands region of Vietnam, near the borders with Laos and Cambodia.
After the People's Army of Vietnam invaded South Vietnam on March 30, 1972 during the Easter Offensive, two divisions attempted to capture Kontum, but failed. In March 1975, however, Kontum was overrun during the Ho Chi Minh Campaign and large numbers of refugees were forced to flee east to the south central coast.

Kunming
Kunming (Chinese: 昆明, pinyin: Kūnmíng; UN/LOCODE:CNKMG) is the capital and largest city of Yunnan (云南) Province in Southwest China. It was known as Yunnan-Fou (云南府, Yúnnánfǔ) until the 1920s. A prefecture-level city, it is the political, economic, communications and cultural centre of Yunnan, and is the seat of the provincial government. It is also home to several universities, museums, galleries and other important economic, cultural, and educational institutions. It covers an area of 21,473 square kilometres (8,291 sq mi) and its urban area covers 2,081 km2 (803 sq mi). Kunming has population of 6,432,212 including 3,055,000 in the urban area and is located at the northern edge of the large Lake Dian, surrounded by temples and lake-and-limestone hill landscapes.

Lao Cai
Lào Cai ( listen) is a city in northeastern Vietnam. It is the capital of Lào Cai province. The city borders the city of Hekou, in the Yunnan province of Southwest China. It lies at the junction of the Red River (Sông Hồng) and the Nam Ti River approximately 160 miles (260 km) northwest of Hanoi. It is a market town for timber located on the Hải Phòng railway to Yunnan Province in China.
The town was invaded by the Chinese in 1979 and the border was closed and not reopened until 1993. The town has a carbide factory. As of 2003 the district had a population of 86,855. The district covers an area of 223 km².

Nguyen Dynasty
The Nguyễn Dynasty (Vietnamese: Nhà Nguyễn; Hán Việt: 阮朝, Nguyễn triều) was the last ruling family of Vietnam. Their rule lasted a total of 143 years. It began in 1802 when Emperor Gia Long ascended the throne after defeating the Tây Sơn Dynasty and ended in 1945 when Bảo Đại abdicated the throne and transferred power to the State of Vietnam. During the reign of Emperor Gia Long, the nation officially became known as Việt Nam (越南), but from the reign of emperor Minh Mạng on, the nation was renamed Đại Nam (大南, literally "Great South"). Their rule was marked by the increasing influence of French colonialism; the nation was eventually partitioned into three, Cochinchina became a French colony while Annam and Tonkin became protectorates which were independent in name only.
The Nguyễn family had been one of the major families in Vietnamese history, dating back to the days of the Hero–Emperor Lê Lợi. Due to a civil war and the weakness of the Later Lê Dynasty, the Nguyễn and the Trịnh (another of the major families) joined together in opposition to the Mạc. Nguyễn Kim, the leader of this alliance, was assassinated in 1545 by a servant of the Mạc. Kim's son-in-law Trịnh Kiểm, took over the alliance because Kim's sons were too young. In 1558, Nguyễn Hoàng, the eldest son of Nguyễn Kim was given lordship over the southern, newly conquered provinces of Vietnam. He ruled from the city of Huế for the rest of his life and established the dominion of the Nguyễn Lords in the southern part of the country. While the Nguyễn Lords, like the Trịnh, paid tribute to the Lê Emperor, the reality was they ruled, not the king. Nguyễn Hòang and his successors continually expanded their territory by making Kampuchea a protectorate, and by invading Laos, Champa and many small countries in the area. The Nguyễn lords styled themselves as "lord" (Chúa in Vietnamese).

Nha Trang
Nha Trang (Vietnamese pronunciation: [ɲaː ʈʂaːŋ] ( listen)) is a coastal city and capital of Khanh Hoa province, on the South Central Coast of Vietnam. It is bounded on the North by Ninh Hoà district, on the East by the South China Sea, on the South by Cam Ranh town and on the West by Diên Khánh district. Ninh Binh
Ninh Bình ( listen) is a city in the Red River Delta of northern Vietnam; it is the capital of Ninh Bình.
Ninh Bình City is located in northern Vietnam comprising 48 square kilometres; the 2007 city population was 130,517.
During the period of undeclared hostilities in Tonkin that preceded the outbreak of the Sino-French War in August 1884, the allegiance of Ninh Bình was of considerable importance to the French, as artillery mounted in its lofty citadel controlled river traffic to the Gulf of Tonkin. Although the Vietnamese authorities in Ninh Bình made no attempt to hinder the passage of an expedition launched by Henri Rivière in March 1883 to capture Nam Dinh, they were known to be hostile towards the French. In November 1883, on the eve of the Sơn Tây Campaign, the French occupied the citadel of Ninh Bình without resistance and installed a garrison.
Ninh Bình City is a tourist center with such attractions as Ancient Hoa Lu, Phat Diem Cathedral, Cuc Phuong, Tam Coc - Bich Dong, and the Bai Dinh Pagoda.

Ninh Thuan province
Ninh Thuận ( listen) is a province in the South Central Coast region of Vietnam (sometimes seen as part of the Southeast region).
The Cham principality of Panduranga had its center in Ninh Thuan Province, but also included much of what is now Binh Thuan Province. Panduranga became the political centre of Champa after the fall of Vijaya in 1471. It remained independent until 1832, when emperor Minh Mang annexed it.
Ninh Thuan was merged into Binh Thuan Province in 1976, together with Binh Tuy Province. Ninh Thuan became a separate province again in 1991.
Ninh Thuan's topography is typical for the South Central Coast in that high mountains are located not only near western border to the Central Highlands, but also near the coast, the highest of which is Chua mountain (núi Chúa) at 1040m in the north-east of the province. Several other peaks with heights up to 643m (Da Bac mountain / núi Đá Bạc in the south) are located along the coast. The highest mountains are located at the borders to Khanh Hoa Province and Lam Dong Province, with three mountains of over 1600 and the highest at 1652m (Suong Mu mountain, Núi Sương Mù). Only a small part of the province around Phan Rang has elevations of under 50m.

North Vietnam
North Vietnam was a communist state that ruled the northern half of Vietnam from 1954 until 1976. It was officially the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (Vietnamese: Việt Nam Dân chủ Cộng hòa), and was proclaimed in Hanoi in 1945. Vietnam was partitioned following the Geneva Conference at the end of the First Indochina War.
During World War II, Vietnam was a French colony under Japanese occupation. Soon after Japan surrendered in 1945, the DRV was proclaimed in Hanoi. Viet Minh leader Hồ Chí Minh became head of the government while former emperor Bảo Đại became "supreme advisor." Non-communist figures were ousted from the DRV on October 30 and fled to the South. In November, the French reoccupied Hanoi and the French Indochina War followed. Bảo Đại became head of the Saigon government in 1949, which was then renamed the State of Vietnam. Following the Geneva Accords of 1954, Vietnam was partitioned at the 17th parallel. The DRV became the government of North Vietnam while the State of Vietnam retained control in the South.

Phu Yen province
Phú Yên ( listen) is a coastal province in the South Central Coast of Vietnam. It is the easternmost province of Vietnam's mainland.
Phu Yen borders Binh Dinh province to the north, Khanh Hoa province to the south. Phu Yen is separated from these provinces by two passes: Cù Mông pass in the north and Cả pass in the south.
The province's topography consists of hilly regions in the west (70%) and the fertile plain of Tuy Hòa in the east. Lowlands also extend west along Da Rang River. The highest peaks are at 1592m on the border to Khanh Hoa Province in the south and at 1331m in the northwest (Dong Xuan District). There are several hills near the coast, including Mo Cheo (Núi Mô Cheo, 814m) in Song Cau and Da Bia (Núi Đá Bia, 706m) near Dai Lanh in Dong Hoa District.
The main rivers that flow across Phu Yen are Da Rang River (the largest river in Central Vietnam), Ban Thach river and Ky Lo river. Song Hinh Lake, a large artificial lake, is located in the southwest of the province.
Phu Yen has various picturesque landscapes, such as the Ô Loan Lagoon, Sông Cầu coconut ranges, Đá Bia and Nhạn mountains, Rô Bay and Long Thủy beach.

Pleiku
Pleiku is a town in central Vietnam, located in that nation's central highland region. It is the capital of the Gia Lai Province; Many years ago, it was inhabited primarily by the Bahnar and Jarai ethnic groups, sometimes known as the Montagnards or Degar. But now, it is inhabited primarily by Kinh ethnic group. The town is the centre of the urban district of Pleiku which covers an area of 261 km². As of 2003 the district had a population of 186,763. The town sits at the junction of several national roads—National Road 14 to Kon Tum in the north and Buon Ma Thuot in the south and National Road 19 to Stœng Trêng in Cambodia in the west (via Ratanakiri Province) and to Binh Dinh Province in the east.

Pleiku was strategically important during the Vietnam War because it was the primary terminus of the military supply logistics corridor extending westwards along Highway 19 from the coastal population center and port facilities of Qui Nhơn. Additionally, its central location on the plateau, between Kontum in the north, Buôn Ma Thuột to the south, and the North Vietnamese Army's base areas inside Cambodia to the west made Pleiku the main center of defense of the entire highland region of the Republic of Vietnam.

Quang Binh province
Quảng Bình ( listen), formerly Tiên Bình under the reign of Lê Trung Hưng of the Lê Dynasty, this province was renamed Quảng Bình in 1604) is a province along Vietnam's north-central coast. The province has an area of 8,065.8 square kilometers and population of 857,818 inhabitants (as of 2008) The province is bordered by the Laotian province of Khammouan to the west, the South China Sea to the east, Hà Tĩnh to the north and Quảng Trị to the south. Historically, this region belonged to Văn Lang and later the kingdom of Champa. Later it was claimed by both the Đại Việt and Champa and officially annexed into Đại Việt by Lý Thường Kiệt, a Lý dynasty general (under the reign of Lý Thánh Tông).
The site of present-day Quảng Bình was battlefields between Champa and Vietnam until the Vietnamese territory was expanded further south by subsequent dynasties. Quảng Bình's importance expanded after Nguyễn Hoàng, a prince of Nguyễn Lords was sent to the south by a king of the Lê dynasty. Hoàng built his estate and turned it into Đàng Trong, a rival of the de facto Trịnh-controlled Đàng Ngoài. Quảng Bình became an important front to defend Đàng Trong from attck by Đàng Ngoài. Under French rule, this province was part of Annam. During the Vietnam War, this province was part of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (aka North Vietnam), only 20 km from the DMZ. This province was severely devastated by bombing from U.S. B-52s. This province is home to the World Heritage Phong Nha-Kẻ Bàng National Park. The province is also home to several famous Vietnamese persons, including general Võ Nguyên Giáp, poet Hàn Mặc Tử, writer Bảo Ninh and the family of former South Vietnamese president Ngô Đình Diệm.

Quang Nam province
Quảng Nam ( listen) is a province on the South Central Coast of Vietnam. It is bordered by Thua Thien-Huế province to the north, the nation of Laos to the west, Kon Tum Province to the southwest, Quảng Ngãi Province to the southeast, the South China Sea to the east, and the city of Da Nang to the northeast.
Quang Nam by flat land along the coast and increasingly high elevations towards the west, with the highest elevations along the border to Laos and Kontum Province. The highest peak is Ngọc Linh mountain at 2598m. In contrast to the other provinces of the South Central Coast there are no hills or mountains near the coast (with the exception of the Chàm Islands with a peak at 517m).

The Thu Bồn River system covers most of the province (except for the south-east), making it one of the largest river systems in central Vietnam. It led to the rise of an ancient Cham city state that was once Champa’s most influential city and also included one of its most important commercial ports at Hội An.

Quang Tri province
Quảng Trị ( listen) is a province on the North Central Coast of Vietnam, north of the former imperial capital of Huế.
Located in North Central Vietnam, Quảng Trị province is surrounded by Quảng Bình province on the north, Thừa Thiên-Huế province on the south, Savannakhet, Laos on the west, and the South China Sea on the east, with 75 kilometres (47 mi) of seaside. Except for the narrow piedmont coastal plains, the terrain is dominated by hills and the Annamite Mountains.
The highlands, characterized by steep slopes, sharp crests, and narrow valleys, are covered mainly by a dense broadleaf evergreen forest. Most of the peaks are from 4,000 feet (1,200 m) to 7,000 feet (2,100 m) feet high, but some rise above 8,000 feet (2,400 m). The narrow coastal plains flanking the highlands on the east have rocky headlands and consist of belts of sand dunes and, in areas where the soil is suitable, rice fields. From the crests that mark the drainage divide in the highlands, streams flow either east towards the South China Sea or west into Laos or Cambodia. Those flowing eastward follow short courses through deep narrow valleys over rocky bottoms until they reach the coastal plains, where they slow down and disperse. The westward flowing streams follow longer traces, sometimes through deep canyons which are subject to seasonal flooding. The weather features a wide range of temperatures and rainfall, with hot and dry south-west winds during the Southwest Monsoon (May through September), and much cooler wet weather during the rainy season (November to mid-March). Annual average temperature is 24 °C (75 °F), but temperatures can drop as low as 7 °C (45 °F) during the rainy season.

Soc Trang province
Sóc Trăng ( listen) is a province in the Mekong Delta of southern Vietnam, with its capital in Sóc Trăng. The province occupies an area of 3,223 km², and has a population of approximately 1,213,400.
The province's original Khmer name was Srok Kh'leang, meaning "silver depository" because it was where the Khmer king's silver treasury was located. The Vietnamese settlers corrupted it into "Sốc-Kha-Lang" and eventually "Sóc Trăng". Under the Nguyễn Dynasty emperor Minh Mạng, it was given the Sino-Vietnamese name Nguyệt Giang (月江), a calque of "Sông Trăng" (Moon River).
Soc Trang province lies roughly between 9°14'N and 9°56'N latitude and between 105°34'E and 106°18'E longitude. It is bordered to the north west by Hậu Giang Province (meaning Hau River province). To the southwest it is bordered by Bạc Liêu Province (meaning "silver").[citation needed] And to the north east it is bordered by Trà Vinh Province (meaning "honoured tea"). To the north is Vĩnh Long Province (meaning "eternal prosperity"). To the southeast is 72 km of coastline of the South China Sea.

South Central Coast

South Central Coast (Vietnamese: Nam Trung Bộ) is one of the regions of Vietnam. It consists of the independent municipality of Đà Nẵng and seven other provinces. The two southern provinces Ninh Thuận and Bình Thuận are sometimes seen as part of the Southeast region.
The region has traditionally been one of the main gateways to neighbouring Central Highlands. It has a complex geography with mountain ranges extending up to the coast, making transport and infrastructure development challenging but favouring tourism in some places, most notable around Phan Thiet, Nha Trang, and Da Nang. Tourism also benefits from Cham cultural heritage, including architecture, performances, and museums. It is generally much less industrialized and developed than the region around Ho Chi Minh City or the Red River Delta, but it has some regional industrial centers in Da Nang, around Nha Trang and Quy Nhon.
The region was inhabited by people of the Sa Huỳnh culture between around 1000 BC and 200 AD. Remains of this ancient civilization were found in Sa Huỳnh, Quảng Ngãi Province. It was succeeded by a kingdom called Lin-yi (林邑) by the Chinese or Lâm Ấp in Vietnamese that was in existence from 192 AD. Its political center was just north of the South Central Coast near Huế. Lin-yi was culturally influenced by India. According to Chinese sources, it repeatedly raided Jiaozhi, which was one factor that contributed to several wars between Jiaozhi and their Chinese colonizers against Lin-yi in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th century.

South Korea

Thanh Hoa

Vinh ( listen) is a city in Vietnam. It is located in the northern half of the country, and is the capital of Nghệ An Province. Politically, Vinh is a municipality within Nghệ An Province. On September 5th, 2008, it was upgraded from Grade-II city to Grade-I city, the fifth Grade-I city of Vietnam after Hai Phong, Đà Nẵng, Can Tho and Huế. It is the important city in the North Central Coastal region.
The population of Vinh was estimated in 2009 to be 435,208 people. The service sector comprises the largest part of Vinh's economy, with around 55% of the working population being employed in this area. This is followed by the industrial sector (around 30%) and the agriculture, forestry, and fishing sectors (around 15%). Vinh is an important transportation hub, having a key position on the route between the northern and southern parts of the country, and is also a notable port.
Vinh was originally known as Ke Van. Later, this successively became Ke Vinh, Vinh Giang, Vinh Doanh, and then Vinh Thi. Eventually, in 1789, the official name became simply Vinh, probably under European influence. The name has remained the same ever since. At various times, Vinh has been of considerable military and political significance. The Vietnamese nation began in the north, and only gradually expanded to cover its current territories – as such, Vinh was sometimes seen as a "gateway to the south". The Tây Sơn dynasty (1788–1802) is believed to have considered Vinh as a possible capital of Vietnam, but the short duration of the dynasty meant that any plans did not come to fruition. Tây Sơn interest in the city did, however, result in considerable construction and development there. Under French rule of Vietnam, Vinh was further developed as an industrial centre, and became well known for its factories.

Vinh Long
Vĩnh Long ( listen) is the capital of the province of Vĩnh Long in Vietnam's Mekong Delta. The name was spelled 永隆 ("eternal prosperity") in the former Hán Tự writing system.
Vĩnh Long is on the Cổ Chiên river, which branches out from the Mekong River at the narrows of Mỹ Thuận about 10 kilometers upstream, only to meet it later downstream. Across the Cổ Chiên river from Vĩnh Long are the An Binh and Bình Hòa Phước islands, some 15 kilometers across, with the Mekong River on the other side. A number of canals run through Vĩnh Long, with tall vehicular bridges crossing them. Transport by boat is possible, although parts of the town, particularly An Binh, become unreachable at low tide.
Vĩnh Long is about two hours from the large city of Cần Thơ in the adjacent Hậu Giang province, and about three hours from Saigon. The floating market town of Cái Bèi is on the other side of the An Binh island and is the frequent destination for tourist boats from Vĩnh Long.

Vinh Long province

Modern-day Vinh Long was part of Long Hồ dinh (barrack, 營) established by the Nguyễn Lords in 1732, comprising the provinces of Ben Tre, Tra Vinh, and parts of Cần Thơ. The area saw some of the heaviest fighting between the Tây Sơn brothers and the Nguyễn Lords in the late 18th century; in 1784 Nguyễn Huệ defeated Siamese forces aiding Nguyễn Ánh at the Mang Thít River.
In 1951, the Southern Resistance Administrative Committee of the newly-declared Democratic Republic of Vietnam (North Vietnam) merged Vinh Long and Tra Vinh provinces into Vinh Tra province. Vinh Tra existed until 1954 (however, as North Vietnam never administered the area for a significant period of time, this arrangement was not enforced). In 1957, the government of the Republic of Vietnam (South Vietnam) formed Vinh Long province, consisting of six districts: Châu Thành, Chợ Lách (now part of Ben Tre province), Tam Bình, Bình Minh, Sa Đéc, and Lấp Vò. In 1961, Cái Nhum District was split from Chợ Lách. Đức Tôn and Đức Thành Districts were added in 1962, but joined the newly-formed Sa Dec Province in 1966. As of 1975, the province had 7 districts: Châu Thành, Chợ Lách, Tam Bình, Bình Minh, Minh Đức, Trà Ôn, and Vũng Liêm.

Vung Tau

Vũng Tàu was originally referred to as Tam Thắng ("Three Boats") in memory of the first three villages in this area: Thắng Nhất, Thắng Nhị, Thắng Tam. It was within the province of Biên Hòa under the Nguyễn Dynasty. Under the reign of king Gia Long (1761–1820), when Malay pirates built a base here and subsequently became a danger to traders in Gia Dinh city, the king sent 3 troupes of army to crack down on the pirates. Georges Condominas
Georges Louis Condominas (29 June 1921 – 17 July 2011) was a French cultural anthropologist. He is best known for his field studies of the Mnong people of Vietnam.
Condominas was born in 1921 in Haiphong (former French Indochina, Vietnam today). His father was a French officer in the colonial army and his mother has Chinese, Vietnamese and Portuguese roots. He died in the night of Saturday to Sunday 17 July 2011 from a heart attack at the hôpital Broca in Paris where he had been hospitalized for some time.
Georges Condominas studied at the Lycée Lakanal, on the southern outskirts of Paris, but kept in touch with his father through letters and photographs. After he graduates, he starts studying law in France. Then he returns in Indochina to work in the colonial administration but give up his job and studies art in Hanoi. During the Japanese occupation he is made prisoner at the Mikado Hotel.
After World war II, he finds his way in ethnology and returns in France to follow the lectures of famous professors of the time such as André Leroi-Gourhan, Denise Paulme or Marcel Griaule at the Musée de l'Homme, and Maurice Leenhardt at the École pratique des hautes études in Paris.

Jean-Étienne Valluy
Jean Etienne Valluy (15 May 1899 – 4 January 1970) was a French general (see also fr:Jean-Étienne Valluy).
He was born in Rive-de-Gier, Loire, on 15 May 1899 to Claude (Claudius) Valluy and Jeanne, Adrienne Cossanges. In 1917 he entered the military academy of Saint-Cyr. He left as “Aspirant” in July 1918 and joined the Régiment d'Infanterie Coloniale du Maroc (RICM) in August 1918. He took part in the last four months of the First World War, where he was wounded in the neck and received the first of his citations.
He climbed all the ranks of officer to Brigadier General in 1945. He was a French military leader from 1943 until 1970. Michel Henry (10 January 1922–3 July 2002) was a French philosopher and novelist. He wrote five novels and numerous philosophical works. He also lectured at universities in France, Belgium, the United States of America, and Japan.
Michel Henry was born in Haiphong, French Indochina (now Vietnam), and he lived in French Indochina until he was seven years old. Following the death of his father, who was an officer in the French Navy, his mother and he settled in metropolitan France. While studying in Paris, he discovered a true passion for philosophy, which led to the desire to make it his profession. From June 1943 onwards, he was committed to the French Resistance where he joined the maquis of the Haut Jura under the code name of Kant. He often had to come down from the mountains in order to accomplish missions in Nazi-occupied Lyon, an experience of clandestinity that deeply marked his philosophy.
Following the war, he passed the final part of the philosophy examination at the university and then devoted his time to the preparation of a thesis under the direction of Jean Hyppolite, Jean Wahl, Paul Ricoeur, Ferdinand Alquié, and Henri Gouhier. His first book, which was on the Philosophy and Phenomenology of the Body, was completed in 1950. His first significant published work was about The Essence of Manifestation, to which he consecrated long years of necessary research in order to surmount the main deficiency of all intellectualist philosophy, the ignorance of life as experienced.

With a high, warm, healthy, and sound male voice, Ngoc Son became a quite stylish, professional performer. In the 1990s, Ngoc Son became most famous. In evidence of his great singing, he attracted an audience of Japanese affection, being that two of his students are Japanese singers. In 2006, he posed for a poster "8 feet by Ngoc Son" named similar to "14 by the solid Buddha", including the sentences: "Ethical people are religious in their hospitality", "Man's most difficult challenge is to be a winner himself", etc. However, 20,000 poster sheets were printed and freely issued to boost his own image.

Emperor Tự Đức (22 September 1829 – 17 July 1883) (full name: Nguyễn Phúc Hồng Nhậm, also Nguyễn Phúc Thì) was the fourth emperor of the Nguyễn Dynasty of Vietnam and reigned from 1847–1883.
The son of Emperor Thiệu Trị, Prince Nguyễn Phúc Hồng Nhậm was born on 22 September 1829, and succeeded his father on the throne, with the reigning title of Tự Đức, but family troubles caused his era to have a violent start. Thiệu Trị had passed over his more moderate eldest son, Hồng Bảo, to give the throne to Tự Đức, known for his staunch Confucianism and opposition to foreigners and innovation. As a result, and due to the repressive policies of the previous Nguyễn Dynasty emperor, there was now a great deal of dissatisfaction with Nguyễn rule and a legitimate royal figure to rally this opposition.
Crown Prince Hồng Bảo became the leader of a rebellion against Tự Đức, consisting of Confucian scholars who were angered that the family hierarchy had been dishonored (by passing over the eldest son) some remaining supporters of the Lê Dynasty (who many still considered the legitimate dynasty of Vietnam) as well as the usual peasants angry over Nguyễn taxation and the usual corrupt mandarins as well as the Roman Catholic missionaries and Christian converts who had been so persecuted by Minh Mạng and Thiệu Trị. With swift military force, Tự Đức suppressed the rebellion and was set to execute his brother, but was dissuaded by his mother, Dowager queen Từ Dũ, and Hồng Bảo killed himself in prison.

The Vietnam War was a Cold War-era military conflict that occurred in Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia from 1 November 1955 to the fall of Saigon on 30 April 1975. American military advisors arrived in what was then French Indochina beginning in 1950. U.S. involvement escalated in the early 1960s, with troop levels tripling in 1961 and tripling again in 1962. U.S. combat units were deployed beginning in 1965. Operations spanned international borders, with Laos and Cambodia heavily bombed. American involvement in the war peaked in 1968, at the time of the Tet Offensive. After this, U.S. ground forces were gradually withdrawn as part of a policy known as Vietnamization. Despite the Paris Peace Accords, signed by all parties in January 1973, fighting continued.

Hải Phòng ( listen), also Haiphong, is the 3rd largest city in Vietnam. The name means, "coastal defence". Haiphong also names "The City of the Red Flamboyant", because there are a lot of flamboyant trees which are planted in the city. Haiphong is also the largest 1st-class city, and is an economic, industrial, commercial and educational center in Vietnam. With the advantage of having deep-watered ports, maritime transport here is very developed.

Hai Phong was originally founded by Lê Chân, the female general of a Vietnamese revolution against the Chinese led by the Trưng Sisters (Hai Bà Trưng) in the year 43 C.E. The area which is now known as Duong Kinh District was once known as Hai tan Phong thu ("defensive coastal area"), and served as the second capital of the Mac dynasty (1527–1592). At the end of Nguyen Emperor Tu Duc's reign, the headquarters of An Duong District was also moved to Hang Kenh Communal House, which now belongs to Le Chan district.[1]
In 1881, the city was the site of a devastating typhoon which claimed up to 300,000 lives.
Haiphong was one of Vietnam's principal ports and trading centers. When the country was invaded by the French, the city became France's main naval base in Indochina. After World War II, when Vietnam attempted to regain its independence, Hai Phong was the site of the first military action undertaken by the French, as punishment for the death of three French soldiers. Some sources[2] claim that the French heavy cruiser Suffren bombarded the city, while others claim it was not Suffren but 3 avisos or sloops, supported by Suffren, the ships that bombarded the city and adjacent fields in an aggression that contributed to the start of the First Indochina War.[3][4] French infantry forces under the command of Jean-Étienne Valluy invaded the city and fought house to house with support from armored units and jet fighters.[5]

Haiphong is the third largest city in Vietnam, with an area of 1,507.57 km² and a population of 1,884,685 according to the 2009 census.[6] Women make up 50.4% of Haiphong's population.[7]

As of the 2009 census, Haiphong's average annual population growth rate was given as 4.0%. Haiphong's crude birth rate was recorded at 18.1 live births per 1000 persons; the crude death rate was measured at 7.6 per 1000 persons. Life expectancy at birth was estimated at 77.1 years for women and 72.0 years for men, or 74.5 years overall. The infant mortality rate was measured at 11.8 infant deaths per 1000 live births, just over two points above the nation's average for urban areas. In the same census, the city's immigration and emigration rates were measured at 2.8% and 1.9%, respectively, for a net migration rate of 0.9%.[7]

Hai Phong is a coastal city located at the mouth of the Cam River, in Vietnam's northeastern coastal area, 120 km east of Hanoi. The Binh Bridge crosses the Cam and connects the city with Thuy Nguyen District. It has a total natural area of 152,318.49ha (2001). It borders Quang Ninh province to the north, Hai Duong province to the west, Thai Binh province to the south, and the Gulf of Tonkin to the east. Bach Long Vi island, located in the Gulf, is also administered as part of the city. The city is located in a convenient position for transportation to domestic provinces, and international networks via road network, railway, sea routes, inland waterway and air.

Hai Phong features a humid subtropical climate, with hot, humid summers and warm, dry winters. The city is noticeably wetter from April through October. In fact about roughly 90% of the city’s annual precipitation (which is approximately 1600 mm of rainfall) typically falls during these months. There is a noticeable difference in temperatures between the city’s winters and summers. Hai Phong’s coolest months, January and February, sees average high temperatures reach 20 degrees Celsius and average low temperatures at around 14 degrees Celsius. Its warmest months, June and July, sees average high temperatures hover around 33 degrees Celsius and average low temperatures at around 26 degrees Celsius.

Economy[link]
Hai Phong is northern Vietnam's second largest industrial centre.[8] It's GDP accounted for 11.8 of the Red River Delta in 2007, second only to Hanoi. It is a significant producer of rice and has the Red River Delta's fourth largest fishing sector. Its industrial sector is the second largest in the region (10.6% of regional industrial GDP) and slightly ahead of Vinh Phuc province (2007). Hai Phong is northern Vietnam's major port city. As a result, it has a large service sector and is important for the region's trade, with export of US$1.26bn and imports of US$1.55bn in 2007.[9][10]
Agriculture, Forestry and Fishery[link]
Despite its status as a city, around one third of Hai Phong's area or 52,300 ha (as of 2007) are used for agriculture. Rice is the most important crop, taking up around 80% of the agricultural land with an output of 463,100 tons in 2007.[9] Other agricultural products include maize, sugar and peanuts.[9]
Hai Phong has a relatively large fishing sector with an output of 79,705 tons (2007). Gross output has almost doubled between 2000 and 2007, mostly due to fast growth in aquaculture, which made up 60% of gross output in 2007. Despite its coastal location, sea fish contribute relatively little to the sector (around one fourth). Nam Dinh province and Thai Binh province have much larger fishing sectors and even the inland Hai Duong province has a larger gross output from fishing than Hai Phong.[9]
As of 2007, 315,500 were employed in agriculture and fishery, a significant decrease from 396,300 in 2000. However, these sectors still account for almost a third of total employment in Hai Phong, a larger share than industry.[9] However, gross output in both agriculture and fishery have been growing significantly between 2000 and 2007.
Industry[link]
Hai Phong has a large and diversified industrial sector including food processing, light industries and heavy industries. Major products include fish sauce, beer, cigarettes, textiles, paper, plastic pipes, cement, iron, pharmaceuticals, electric fans, motorbikes, steel pipes and ships.[9] Most of these industries have been growing significantly between 2000 and 2007, with the exceptions of the cigarette and pharmaceutical industries. Shipbuilding, steel pipes, plastic pipes and textiles are among the industries with the most rapid growth.[9]
Several large industrial projects with foreign participation are currently being prepared. The country's fourth Vietnam Singapore Industrial Park is under construction in Hai Phong. It has an investment capital of US$1bn and is projected to have a population of 150,000 by 2020.[11] Another billion dollar project was announced by the Japanese tire producer Bridgestone in December 2011.[12] Hai Phong will also be the location of Vietnam's first specialised industrial park exclusively for Japanese investors.[13]
There are also growing industries supplying products used by existing industries in the city. PetroVietnam set up a joint-venture PVTex with textile manufacturer Vinatex to build Vietnam's first polyester fiber plant in Hai Phong. The factory will use by-products from oil-refining and reduce reliance on imported materials.[14]
270,600 people were employed in Hai Phong's industry. 112,600 industrial jobs were created between 2000 and 2007.[9]

Haiphong is a beautiful city. City Architecture is a harmonious mixture between two Asian and Western cultures. This mixture gives the city a specific, elagant and strong beauty. Ultil now, Haiphong has a lot of old quarters which were built about 100 years ago. In Hong Bang district, for instant, there are manys Franch beautiful villa, clean and uncrowded streets. Near Tam Bac Lake, there is a Chinese quarter, where Chinese businessmen used to live in the past, has a lot similar beauties with Cho Lon in Ho Chi Minh City. Especially Tam Bac street near dreamlike Tam Bac river, its beauty has been theme of many poets, painters.

Recently, in Hai Phong, a resort has just been opened. It is named "Hon Dau" resort and is located on the coast of Do Son. This resort is also the first resort in North Vietnam which encompasses 4 to 5 four star rated hotels. Additionally, it has the biggest pool in Southest Asia, a casino dedicated to only foreign visitors, and a mountain with a small view of Da Lat....
Beside this, in Cat Ba Island – 25 kilometters from the city central- there is also a resort named Cat Ba Amatina . This was located on the coast of Tung Thu beach and near the Cat Ba Biosphere Reserve . In this resort there are 3 to 7 hotels from 3 to 5 stars and 50 villas which have been building since June 2010. Restaurans, parks and markets are also be building there. It could be a good place to spend your holiday with your friends and family.

By Land
Haiphong is located near the junction of two National Highways: Route 5, leading west to Hanoi, and Route 10, leading south to Nam Dinh and connecting with National Highway 1A at Ninh Binh. Highway 356 passes west–east from the Route 5/10 junction through Haiphong's downtown area all the way to the coast. There is also a connecting road from route 5 to route 18 which connects Hai Phong and Quang Ninh province. There are several coach stations, such as Tam Bac, Niem Nghia, Cau Rao.
By sea
Hai Phong port is one of the two biggest ports in Vietnam. It is also listed in one of the most important port in the Southeast Asia. The Port of Haiphong is divided into three main terminals: Hoang Dieu terminal (Central terminal), located near the city's center; Chua Ve terminal, and Dinh Vu Terminal, both on the eastern side of town. All three terminals are located on the banks of the Cam River.[15] Several ferry terminals connect Haiphong with the neighboring Cat Hai and Cat Ba Islands; Ben Binh Ferry terminal is located near the downtown area, while Dinh Vu Ferry is located on a spit of land on the coast. Recently, the government of Vietnam has approved the plan about building an international port in Lach Huyen – 15 kilometers from the city central. This will be one of the biggest port in Vietnam whose depth is about −14m which can receive 50000 to 100000 DWT ships.
By train
Hai Phong Railway Station, established in 1902, is the eastern terminus of the Hanoi–Hai Phong railway line, also known as the Yunnan–Vietnam Railway. Built at the initiative of the French during their occupation, the railway once connected Haiphong to the city of Kunming in China's Yunnan province, although service along the Chinese portion of the line is currently suspended. Rail travel from Haiphong is still possible, with connections to the rest of the Vietnamese railway network possible via Hanoi. Besides this, there are lots of railway roads in the whole city to served the requirement of moving goods out of and into ports.
By air
The main airport serving Hai Phong is Cat Bi International Airport, with three flights a day to Ho Chi Minh city. Recently, in April, 2011 Vietnam Airlines has just opened a new flight which connects Hai Phong and Da Nang with 5 flights a week. According to the plan of Vietnam government, there will be an international airport in Hai Phong which is located in Tien Lang district. This is planned to be the biggest airport in North Vietnam.
