Crossing the Concrete Jungle by night - Bike ride through the Phoenix "green belt"
This is a recording of my bike ride from Tempe, AZ to Paradise Valley, AZ. through the Phoenix greenbelt, a series of connected trails, run offs, golf courses and pathways. The distance is roughly 18 miles but this video only captures about half of the trip since YouTube only allows videos of 10 minutes in length and I did not want to speed up the video any further. The Warrens Medical Centre
A planning application has now been submitted in respect of this development for a new Medical Centre on Wirral Green Belt land at Thingwall. The Irby Thurstaston & Pensby Amenity Society will be making objections to this for a number of reasons. Whilst three surgeries at Thingwall, Heswall and Irby will be affected, we feel the development will have a detrimental effect on trade in Irby Village. We also feel the new Centre will be inaccessible for a far greater number of people than anticipated, particularly the elderley and families with young children where access to a car is not always possible. Of course the fact the development is in Green Belt land is a major factor. Make your own mind up anyway. View the video and visit our website for more information. You can make a written objection by writing to:- WBC Planning Dept. Technical Services Department Cheshire Lines Building Canning Street Birkenhead CH41 1ND Quoting the Planning Application Number of 2007/6181 There were other preferred sites - WHY OH WHY DID THEY NOT HAVE THE FORESIGHT TO SPEND MONEY INVESTIGATING THOSE SITES!? Now we have deliberate confrontation with more threats to Wirrals much treasured Green Belt land and a valued part of Arrowe Park. Thanks for viewing. www.itpas.org.uk

London Heathrow Airport LHR - EGLL" Europe's Largest And Busiest Airport"
London Heathrow International Airport ( London , England ) . London Heathrow Airport or Heathrow (IATA: LHR, ICAO: EGLL), located in the London Borough of Hillingdon, is the world's busiest airport in terms of international passenger traffic. It is the world's second busiest airport in total passenger traffic and the United Kingdom's largest and busiest airport. It is also the busiest in the European Union in terms of passenger traffic and the second busiest in terms of traffic movements. The airport is owned and operated by BAA, which also owns and operates five other UK airports, and is itself owned by ADI Limited, an international consortium, which includes Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec and GIC Special Investments, that is led by the Spanish Ferrovial Group[5]. Heathrow is the primary hub for BMI, British Airways and Virgin Atlantic Airways. Located 12 nautical miles (22 km; 14 mi) west of Central London, Heathrow was designed to have six runways in three pairs[citation needed] but now has two parallel main runways running east-west and four operational terminals. The site covers 12.14 square kilometres (4.69 sq mi). Terminal 5 was officially opened by Queen Elizabeth II on 14 March 2008 and opened to passengers on 27 March 2008. Construction of a new Terminal 2 complex to replace the terminal building and adjacent Queen's Building began in 2009; the first phase is expected to open in 2014. Beginning in 2007 and completing in 2009, Terminals 3 and 4 have ...

Architectural Design: Underground Swimming Pool Project
The Sacred Space Company In 2003 we obtained planning consent for an indoor swimming pool built underground in the grounds of a grade 2 listed building set in the metropolitan green belt. We went on to create the detailed interior layout and design including the pool and spa. Green Islands (1954)
A film about the parks and open spaces provided and kept by the London County Council for Londoners. Made by the LCC to show all the activities that London Parks have to offer. There is a green belt around the city and green islands at its heart - all carefully kept to provide places of rest where nature is to be enjoyed. The film shows the changing seasons in London's parks and open spaces, from summer to winter and through to spring.Shows the parks of London such as Hampstead Heath, Battersea Park and Victoria Embankment Gardens in central London. There are many sports and sporting activities going on to energise Londoners, from tennis, netball, football and hockey to fishing, bowls and model boating.Shots of people swimming in a Lido and outdoor pools, as well as people boating on the lakes.Lingering images of the rich and colourful gardens and flowers of Londons Parks to soothe the weary eye and where the roar of the traffic is far away and the only noise is the song of the birds. Producer/Director - Cecil Musk Music - Ron Goodwin Photography - AT Dinsdale Credit: London Metropolitan Archives - www.cityoflondon.gov.uk/lma London Metropolitan Archivesholds a good collection of film, video and audio materials that are being catalogued, conserved and digitised to make them accessible to the public at LMA. Duke Special - The Hand of Man
Without a doubt the darling of the Greenbelt festival, Duke Special performs on the main stage. There were over 30000 people each day and it felt like they were all there on Sunday! Wonderful to see him accompanied by the amazing Ben Castle after all too long and with the dynamic percussion of the redoubtable Mr Chip Bailey of course! The Hand of Man is one of the truly wonderful new 12 Duke songs commisioned by the Metroplolitan Museum of Art in New York for an exhibition of a historic collection of photographs by Steiglitz, Steichen and Strand lpvmagazine.com

GreenRing
GreenRing - Bicycle riders and walkers must make their way through a thicket of busy and noisy streets if they want to reach any green spots in the Gush Dan region. But now a new organization has come to their aid, suggesting the many existing plans for park extensions and bike path networks finally be put into effect to create a green belt. This belt would allow for an unbroken path from the Yarkon River in the north to the park planned for the Hiriya area in the south, as well as toward the sea and back. The non-profit organization - called GreenRing - was started recently by two architects who live in Gush Dan and manage an office together, Ilan Abramovitz and Dan Grynhaus. "We love to walk and discovered that if you ride a bicycle in Yarkon Park you can't continue on to the next park without passing through crowded streets," Abramovitz said. Abramovitz and Grynhaus decided to do something to help create a continuous path between stretches of green. Many cities around the world, including several in Israel, understand the notion that such areas lose a great deal of their impact if they are not directly connected to each other. The architects say that while working out the new idea, they learned that the green-belt concept had already spread to Moscow, Sidney, Bremen and some Spanish cities. Other green belts are also in various stages of planning and execution in a few large Israeli cities. Completing the route There is a solid basis for a green belt in Gush Dan ...

Trent Park
In 1973 Trent Park was opened to the public as a country park, which surrounds the university campus and is 320 hectares in area.[4] The country park includes publicly accessible countryside, farmland, a golf course and an equestrian centre. Some of the grounds were attractively landscaped by Humphry Repton in the English manner (some also attribute the work of Capability Brown). Features of the original landscaping that can still be seen include an impressive avenue of lime trees, an obelisk, ornamental lakes and a water garden. The water garden was renovated by Park Ranger, Arthur Newson in the 1990s. The original mansion and a number of statues and other structures located within the grounds (such as the Orangery) are Grade II listed buildings. The site is designated as Metropolitan Green Belt, and lies within a conservation area and is also included within the Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest in England. The park is open to the public and the closest London Underground stations are Oakwood and Cockfosters. During the summer months a number of concerts and festivals take place there.
