Video Driving Lesson 27 Joining a Dual-Carriageway
A series of clips to show how to join a dual-carriageway. Always look for signs which might indicate a higher speed limit on the dual-carriageway. These clips show how to assess the speed of the traffic already on the carrigeway. Some dual-carriageways are similar to motorways, with slip roads to join and leave. However, motorway regulations do not apply and you may come across slow moving vehicles such as cyclists or farm tractors. Video Driving Lesson 26 Right Turn onto a Dual Carriageway
When crossing or turning right onto a Dual carriageway, first assess whether the central reservation is deep enough to protect the full length of your vehicle. If it is, then you should treat each half of the carriageway as a separate road. Wait in the central reservation until there is a safe gap in the traffic on the second half of the road. If the central reservation is too shallow for the length of your vehicle, wait until you can cross both carriageways in one go. ASML - Double Patterning: the dual carriageway to smaller chip
Chipmakers always try to make electronic circuits smaller. Why? Because fitting more transistors into the same area means chips can do more, work faster, use less power, store more data and cost less (Moore's law). That means better MP3 players, digital cameras, cell phones and computers. ASML provides chipmakers with lithography systems to 'print' chips. And double patterning is the latest printing technology to continue shrinking chips, allowing features down to 32 nanometers.

Bobby Jo's driving lesson 12 Dual Carriageways
This video shows the twelfth practical driving lesson (Lesson 12 in the LDC System of tuition, visit: www.learnerdriving.com for more details). The provisional plan for todays driving lesson was to cover the Dual Carrigeway driving lesson from the LDC driving skills programme. Bob starts by looking at her reflective log to see what she thinks so far before looking at the lesson targets. Some aspects of this lesson can not be covered by the route Bob proposes to use and the consequence of this is discussed. He then looks at the answers Bobby Jo has given to the workbook quizz before embarking on the practical part of the lesson.
