Ex-Anglo Irish CEO Due in Court over fraud probe
A third former executive of the collapsed Anglo Irish Bank is due to appear in court today over alleged financial irregularities at the bank. Officers attached to the Office of the Director of Corporate Enforcement picked up former Chief Executive and Chairman, Sean Fitzpatrick, at Dublin Airport in the early hours of this morning over. These are shots of Fitzpatrick leaving a police station back in March 2010, after a previous arrest with regard to the probe. Anglo Irish bank suffered the largest corporate loss in the history of the Republic of Ireland when the Irish property boom went bust. Fitzpatrick resigned in December 2008 and, a month later, the bank had a government bailout, which cost Irish taxpayers around 30bn euros (that's £23.4bn) Yesterday Anglo Irish Bank's former Head of Lending & Operations, Patrick Whelan, and former Finance Director, Willie McAteer, were also arrested, appeared in court and were bailed to reappear in October. They face various charges which form part of what's been a three-and-a-half year long fraud investigation so far. The former bank is being wound down and is currently being run by the Irish Banking Resolution Company (IBRC).

Breaking news - Irelands Bankers being Arrested and Charged!
The former Chief Executive and Chairman of Anglo Irish Bank has appeared in court in Dublin charged in connection with financial irregularities at the bank. Seán FitzPatrick was charged with 16 offences under Section 60 of the Companies Act. He is accused of permitting Anglo Irish Bank to give financial assistance to Patricia Quinn, her five children and ten senior clients of the bank who became known as the 'Maple 10', to enable the 16 to buy shares in the bank. He was granted bail to appear in court again on 8 October for service of the book of evidence. Mr FitzPatrick was arrested by arrangement at 5.37am this morning after getting off a flight at Dublin Airport. The 64-year-old was then taken to the Bridewell Garda Station where at 8.08am he was charged with the 16 offences. Mr FitzPatrick did not speak during a brief hearing at the Dublin District Court this morning. Detective Sergeant Brian Mahon of the Garda Bureau of Fraud Investigation, on secondment to the Office of the Director of Corporate Enforcement, told the court that when he arrested Mr FitzPatrick he cautioned him and asked him if he understood. Mr FitzPatrick replied "I do". The detective told the court that Mr FitzPatrick replied "no comment" to each of the 16 charges. His solicitor Michael Staines told the court that when Mr FitzPatrick became aware the gardaí were looking for him, he contacted his solicitor and organised to meet them this morning. There was no objection to bail and Mr FitzPatrick was ...

Irish Revolution 1922
The Irish War of Independence (Irish: Cogadh na Saoirse,[4]) Anglo-Irish War, Black and Tan War,[5] or Tan War[6] was a guerrilla war mounted by the Irish Republican Army (IRA) against the British government and its forces in Ireland. It began in January 1919, following the Irish Republic's declaration of independence. Both sides agreed to a ceasefire (or "truce") in July 1921. The post-ceasefire talks led to the December 1921 Anglo-Irish Treaty. This treaty ended British rule in most of Ireland and, after a ten-month transitional period overseen by a provisional government, the Irish Free State was established. However, six northern counties remained within the United Kingdom as Northern Ireland, with its own devolved parliament. After the ceasefire, political and sectarian violence (between republicans and loyalists, and between Irish Catholics and Protestants) continued in Northern Ireland for many months.

Sean Quinn speaks out on way to jail - Sentenced to 9 weeks (2nd November 2012)
The now bankrupt Fermanagh man had previously been found guilty of contempt of court, alongside his son and nephew, after hiding millions in assets from the former Anglo Irish Bank. In passing sentence, the judge told a tearful Quinn he "has only himself to blame" for his plight. Ms Justice Elizabeth Dunne would have allowed a stay of execution until after an appeal is heard at the Supreme Court. But Mr Quinn was given until 1pm to decide if he would begin his sentence at once and the 66-year-old opted to do so. He'll remain behind bars over Christmas and New Year, before being due for release on 4 January.

Sean Quinn
Sean Quinn, once Ireland's richest businessman, places 500 million Euros worth of international assets beyond the reach of the Irish government's liquidators-the dreaded NAMA.! NAMA is the grandiouse titled "National Assets Management Agency", in reality it is a monstrous "Quango" created to supervise the disposal of the properties of the ruined developers and businessmen of the Celtic Tiger era in Ireland.. Sean believes that the huge loss sustained on his gamble on shares in Anglo Irish Bank was caused by the deception of Seanie Fitzpatrick the CEO,and his cohorts. Nevertheless he used money that was not rightly his to use, to gamble on the market.
