BALTA ALBA
Synopsis Balta Alba
Balta Alba White Pond is in the southeastern district of Bucharest, the city of Metropolis from the edge of the Orient, the capital of Romania.
The first historical data of this area dates back to 1813, during the fanariot ruler of Walachia Ioan Gheorghe Caragea. An outbreak of plague killed over 50,000 people, and one of the pits where the dead were buried joint is located here. anhydrous lime who throw over dead was spread by rain puddles forming.
In the ' 60s when Bucharest extended, here comes one of the classiest neighborhoods of the capital. In most of the new built blocks of military personnel were living, teachers, people of culture, but also people from the dreaded Ceausescu's regime security.
In the vicinity of appeared and many factories and Mills.
This fact made a big number of working people to move here, and a big number of blocks were raised.
Basically, Balta Alba population has become very diverse. More social classes divised the same blocks.
One of the particularities of this district is the appearance of a very large number of musicians, within 30 years, what made this a unique White Pond in Romania, transcending the condition of “communist bedroom”.
No one could have imagined as a perimeter of several square kilometers, there are hard rock, new wave, avant-garde, hip hop, jazz, electro, classical and Fiddlers.
Basically here were born, grew up and developed as a very big name artists of Romanian music, from bands such as:
Iris - also known as The National Rock Band of Romania , forbidden three times during communist regime
Il-Egal – Romanian hip hop pioneer
Timpuri Noi – very ironic new wave band with some trouble in the 80’s because of communist party, and big success in the 90’s
Partizan – Timpuri Noi reinvented in the 2000’s
Marijuana – most important hip hop female voice
Maxim Belciug – great acoustic guitarist of classic music and many more
The documentary will reveal stories of musicians and of several vernacularity people, about this district, about their musical career, the socio-cultural context in which their life unfolds.
In this sense, the documentary shows the musicians and their stories in a chronological order.
We have the very hard 80's, in which the electric current a few times a day, because Ceausescu wanted to make savings to pay off external debts of Romania, the blocks were not heated in winter, on TV there were no more than two hours of the program, and the food was rationalized.
Around this time the pressure of security and communist party organs was huge. In Balta Alba, almost every block have a ladder to dreaded Security, who the Snitch was sending monthly notes about neighbors ' activities.
Rock musicians at that time had difficulties to emerge on the scene, many of them being forbidden by the culture committees of the Communist regime.
After the anticommunist revolution of 1989, the 90s was a very cloudy in terms of the socio-political. However, musically speaking Romania had a boom rock and jazz. In Balta Alba appeared first hip-hop drug movement in Romania. It was basically for the first time in Romania, when a well-defined map had his own music.
Follow then the 2000s until today. Years that Balta Alba has seen a relative centers. Economic context is easy to be observed. Stores like tabacco shop, the dry good store, and 80's confectionery from ground floors are now blocks banks, betting agencies, pawn shops and pharmacies.
Musically speaking has a quarter of the third generation of musicians, and musicians of the older generations, who have known the reinvention.
Balta Alba is marked over 30 years of artistic and creative work, sad and funny stories.

Professional Experience Presentation
For my professional experience journey I travelled back to my home country, Bulgaria. The experience took place in my town, Silistra.
Silistra is a port city of northeastern Bulgaria, lying on the southern bank of the lower Danube at the country's border with Romania. The town is the administrative center of the Silistra Province and one of the important cities of the historical region of Southern Dobrudzha. It is founded over 1900 years ago.
Silistra is a lovely, tranquil and picturesque city. The hills afford a lovely view of the city, the river with the islands, the Romanian bank across and the vast plain beyond.
Silistra borders Rousse, Razgrad, Shoumen and Dobrich districts. The north border of the district, Danube River, allows direct connection with Romania. European transport corridor 7 passes through the district.
Placement before – one of my favorite radio stations in the town, radio melody and a local newspaper called “Silistra today”. I enjoyed it a lot and this year I decided to spend more time working for the local media. I was working with the correspondent of the Bulgarian national radio and the Bulgarian national television, Margarita Ivanova. This experience made me tougher and build my confidence as a professional journalist. I received to opportunity to get my work published on a few different media platforms. I was writing articles for 2 of the local internet saits, did a lot of materials for the national radio and interviews for the Bulgarian national television. It was really exciting when people start recognizing me and telling me that I have a future as a journalist.
Those are scenes from my first day of the placement. I was really nervous at the begging, I didn’t know what is going to go well and what are they expecting from me but Margarita turned out to be really helpful, amazing person to work with. She was constantly encouraging me and providing me with her support and professional experience. She is one of the best journalists in Silistra but she was always so polite and nice to me. I really enjoyed working with her. She trusted me and was constantly providing me stories that I could do on my own for the national radio. Even when I had difficulties she was always there for me, she gave me so many advises and even a book that can improve my diction, I am still working on that but it is really helpful.
I have a passion to work in a radio station because my experience showed me that this is the media platform that can give you the opportunity to make longer materials on a range of subjects.
Even though I prefer the radio, working for the television was even more exciting. This scenes are from my first material that was broadcasted in the national television. At the begging I was shaking but very quickly I handled myself and made very good report on the Bulgarian Easter traditions and customs. It was really interesting to see my work on TV, it made me feel like a proper professional.
Even in the days when only my boss was doing the materials, I learned from her, gathered the information and later transformed it into articles for the portal of Silistra and paralel44, which are both internet saits. I never stopped working and never complained because I felt that my dream is coming true. I always wanted to be a journalist and when I finally received this chance it turned out to be one of the best things that have ever happened in my life. I realized that this is the only thing I want to do and that I need to invest time, patience and a lot of work in order to be a professional but it is giving me back so much satisfaction. I enjoy working in a team, I think that I got really lucky with this placement. For just a month I have over 20 materials published thanks to do help of my boss. I never had a fight with them, I never went late to work, I was even staying overtime just to prove myself and this provided me with 2 job offers for the summer.
During my time here, I also took part in three self-initiated projects. The first one was working along with a group of teenagers on a movie. I helped them with the filing and the editing. I really enjoyed working with them and more specifically with the cameraman, who became my own operator later. It is wonderful to work with young, passionate people. There are no borders for the imagination and it is amazing to have such a great team, ready to sacrifice and do everything possible for the project. The movie is made by teenagers only but they are incredibly skillful, clever and talented. It was an interesting story, so I made a material for the radio that got really good responses and increased the attention for the young people. Next week I have to do the trailer of the movie and I am hoping that it will draw even more attention on them and people will be really looking forward to see the movie. The idea is very interesting and concerns the young people in Bulgaria and across the world. I have an idea to popularize it abroad as

They are asking that debts contracted by Germany under the Third Reich be returned to Romanian state coffers. Protesters say that according to data from Romania's National Bank, the debt stands at roughly €19 billion ($26 billion) in today's money. However, the National Bank reportedly says Romania's chances of getting the money back are nil, since all documents pertaining to the debts were lost during the war. The protests are part of a wider demonstration sparked by Elmar Brok, a German MEP who proposed that Romanians and Bulgarians coming to Germany should be fingerprinted on entry. Demonstrators gathered ink prints of the protesters' middle fingers on a sheet of paper that was later delivered to the German embassy.- published: 18 Jan 2014
