The whistleblower website WikiLeaks has gained the respect of truth seekers across the globe for exposing governmental secrets, but of course not without a few repercussions. Two years ago the site released sensitive information known as "Cablegate" which shed light on organizational corruption and some say this wouldn't have been possible without the alleged involvement of Private First Class Bradley Manning. Now, Manning is facing the harsh consequence of being a whistleblower and is just now getting his pre-trial hearings for his case. There's a tense stand-off in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Rebel soldiers have a few hours before a deadline set by regional leaders, demanding they leave cities captured in the country's east. That deadline was issued two days ago - but so far there's no sign the group, known as M23, is planning to give up territory. An Al Jazeera crew travelling with the rebels says they're continuing their patrols around Goma - the capital of North Kivu province. Peter Greste reports from the Ugandan capital, Kampala.

www.youtube.com/LifeNewsAble A war of words has been going on between Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood and the ultra conservative Salafis, regarding Sharia law in the new constitution. While the Muslim Brotherhood focuses on applying the QUOTE principles of sharia law, Salafis are calling for their own interpretation of Sharia to be in place-- something the Egyptian public mostly rejects. The UN vote on enhanced Palestinian statehood will pass with ease, and could well bring Israel back to the negotiating table, according to Diplomatic Correspondent Alex Spillius. Frustrated that their bid for full UN membership last year was thwarted by US opposition in the UN Security Council, Palestinians have launched a watered-down bid for recognition as a non-member state, similar to the status the Vatican enjoys. The proposal, which is due to be put to the vote in the General Assembly at the end of the week, would implicitly recognise Palestinian statehood. It could also grant access to bodies such as the International Criminal Court in The Hague, where the Palestinians could file complaints against Israel. "This Thursday or Friday, when the question is asked, France will vote yes," Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius announced in the French National Assembly, the lower house of parliament. Abbas' bid seems certain to win approval in any vote in the 193-nation assembly. The United States say Palestinian statehood must be achieved by negotiation and has called on Abbas to return to peace talks that collapsed in 2010 over Israeli settlement construction in the occupied West Bank. "It is only with negotiations between the two sides that we demand immediately without any preconditions that a Palestinian state can become a reality," Fabius said.
