BARBADOS - called little "ISLAND IN THE SUN." This video clip shows a beautiful Bajan sunrise and the Bridgetown, Barbados HARBOR as seen from the decks of Celebrity's cruise ship SUMMIT on Monday morning, December 26th 2011... before heading out to the Passenger Cruise Terminal ! Note that HAL's "Prinsendam" cruise ship was docked in the same Harbour as our own Celebrity's Summit - Boxing Day 2011. In January 1994, the newly refurbished and exclusive Passenger Terminal was officially opened. There are 20 large Duty-Free shops with an additional 12 Small Carts and a Chattel House Village for small vendors. Customs, Immigration, Health, Security and the Tourism Authority offices are located in the Terminal as well as an efficient and modern telephone system which can link passengers to anywhere in the world. BRIDGETOWN is the capital and commercial centre; it was originally named "Indian Bridge" for the rude bridge which had been constructed over the river (now known as the Careenage) by the Indians. It was later called the "town of St. Michael" in official documents, before finally being named Bridgetown.
