Arthur Conan Doyle's house
Sir Arthur Ignatius Conan Doyle, DL (22nd May 1859 - 7th July 1930) was a Scottish physician and writer, most noted for his stories about the detective Sherlock Holmes, which are generally considered a major innovation in the field of crime fiction, and for the adventures of Professor Challenger. He was a prolific writer whose other works include science fiction stories, historical novels, plays and romances, poetry, and non-fiction. Undershaw, the home Conan Doyle had built near Hindhead, south of London, and lived in for at least a decade, was a hotel and restaurant from 1924 until 2004. It was then bought by a developer, and has been empty since then while conservationists and Conan Doyle fans fight to preserve it. PUBLIC DOMAIN.

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle "The Struggle to get Published" Literary discussion animation
Heres the great Sir Arthur Conan Doyle reading a letter he wrote to his mother telling of his struggles as a young Doctor and his efforts to try and get published. It was largely his failiure to make a success as a medical practitioner that led him to turn his hand at writing books and eventualy his Sherlock Holmes adventures. Sir Arthur Ignatius Conan Doyle, DL (22 May 1859 -- 7 July 1930[1]) was a Scottish[2] physician and writer, most noted for his stories about the detective Sherlock Holmes, which are generally considered a major innovation in the field of crime fiction, and for the adventures of Professor Challenger. He was a prolific writer whose other works include science fiction stories, historical novels, plays and romances, poetry, and non-fiction. In 1882 he joined former classmate George Budd as his partner at a medical practice in Plymouth,[9] but their relationship proved difficult, and Conan Doyle soon left to set up an independent practice.[10] Arriving in Portsmouth in June of that year with less than £10 to his name, he set up a medical practice at 1 Bush Villas in Elm Grove, Southsea.[11] The practice was initially not very successful; while waiting for patients, Conan Doyle again began writing stories. His first significant work, A Study in Scarlet, appeared in Beeton's Christmas Annual for 1887. It featured the first appearance of Sherlock Holmes, who was partially modelled after his former university teacher Joseph Bell. Conan Doyle wrote to him ...

Arthur Conan Doyle animation
3rd year animation, done as a group project with Lina, Jack and Rosie. We did most of it in After effects and in a 'cut-out' style of animation. I did the Intro scene (with the globe and houses), the dinosaur scenes (although I didn't do the 'wall' and camera movements. I'm going to upload the dinosaur sections separately later so you can actually see them clearly, because of the movement and yellow lighting applied). I also did the Hound animation (but not Holmes and Watson running away), The fight with the professor right until Holmes 'lands' in the empty house and the 'wheel scene'. Kudos to the rest of the group for the animation. We all did a fantastic job and got a first for our efforts. :) Andrew Etter did the voice over. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (part I)
Rare footage of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (1859-1930) filmed in the summer of 1927, talking about his famous detective and amusing reactions from his fans. Interesting how he didn't have high opinion of Dr. Watson, heh... This was part of some documentary; the Doyle footage itself is originally 11 minutes long, according to IMDB.

'Conversations with Arthur Conan Doyle' by Arthur Conan Doyle with Simon Parke
At the end of the 19th century, perhaps every man wanted to be Arthur Conan Doyle. He had written historical novels, short stories of horror and the supernatural; and displayed huge energy and talent in a variety of fields. He was a fine cricketer (he once took the wicket of the great WC Grace); played football, rugby and golf. He had trained and practiced as a doctor; campaigned for underdogs, like the falsely accused George Edalji; he liked fast cars and the new and dangerous invention of the aeroplane; he had the idea of a channel tunnel; introduced skis to Switzerland; and knew both Harry Houdini and Oscar Wilde. He was an adventurer, a controversialist, war reporter and knight of the realm. But most famously of all, he had created Sherlock Holmes, the worlds most famous detective based on his former medical professor, Joseph Bell. All in all, Doyle was a Boys Own dream. Yet for Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, all such achievements paled into significance when set against his commitment to spiritualism. Although interested in the subject for many years, he publicly converted to the cause around time of the First World War much to many peoples amazement: Sir Arthur Conan Doyle has many striking characteristics, wrote Ruth Brandon. He is gigantically tall and strong. He is a gifted story-teller. He is a man of strong opinions and considerable political influence. But perhaps the most extraordinary thing about him is the combination of all the attributes of worldly success with ...

Arthur Conan Doyle and London: "A Stout Heart in the Great Cesspool" - Richard Burnip
From the impressions of his first youthful visit, to his mature years when all doors opened for him, London was an important backdrop to much of Conan Doyle's life and work. From the Sherlock Holmes stories to The Lost World (in this, the 100th anniversary year of Professor Challenger's first great adventure) this lecture examines some of the locations which influenced him. It will also touch on some of his lesser known works and include the place which perhaps meant more to him than any other in London, and to which he returned in his writing throughout his life. Thetranscript and downloadable versions of the lecture are available from the Gresham College website: www.gresham.ac.uk Gresham College has been giving free public lectures since 1597. This tradition continues today with all of our five or so public lectures a week being made available for free download from our website. www.gresham.ac.uk

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Speaks Through Arthur Pacheco Trance Medium About 2012 [part 1 of 4]
FOURTH OF JULY NEWS Fourth of July 2011, we were gifted by a visit from he who is the main guide of the Council with which I am in touch and am guided by. Most of you who are familiar with my work would know him as Sir Arthur. We understand that in his most recent earthly life, he played the role of that very gifted writer of mysteries and Spiritualism, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Most people know him as well as the author of the famous Sherlock Holmes mysteries, about which a movie was recently made, starring Jude Law and Robert Downey, Jr. In any case, since the year 1986, he has been the Spokesman for this Council, and from time to time, he still visits us offering guidance on various issues. So it was that this most recent American Birthday, he again visited us, and in trance, gave a message concerning the coming times, up to and after the year 2012. As always, it was very fascinating, and full of good advice to follow for us who seek it. Sir Arthur's message lasts approximately 55 minutes and is divided into 4 parts. Thank you, My Contact Information is: Arthur Hakalani Pacheco (I also offer personal readings via telephone) US (702)897-0811 eternallightu@gmail.com

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle "Discusses his creation Sherlock Holmes" Literary discussion animation
Heres a virtual movie of the great Sir Arthur Conan Doyle discussing his best known creation Sherlock Holmes. The audio recording used in this virtual movie was made on the 14th May 1930 shortly before his death and couple of years after the only other recording of Conan Doyle that exists a short newsreel fimed in the summer of 1927 of him virtualy repeating what he said in this audio recording. In the full length audio and film newsreel recordings( this virtual movie only uses an edited segment of the audio recording) he also discussed his main interest in his later years his total belief in spiritualism of which Doyle was the pre-eminent spokesman for at the time having travelled widely to promote its cause. Sir Arthur Ignatius Conan Doyle, DL (22 May 1859 7 July 1930) was a British author most noted for his stories about the detective Sherlock Holmes, which are generally considered a major innovation in the field of crime fiction, and for the adventures of Professor Challenger. He was a prolific writer whose other works include science fiction stories, historical novels, plays and romances, poetry, and non-fiction. Conan Doyle's fame comes from his creation of the renowned fictional sleuth Sherlock Holmes, Arthur Conan Doyle's career was a varied one. He worked on board an Arctic whaler as a doctor, was a war correspondent in Egypt, and even stood, unsuccessfully, for Parliament. Conan was originally the author's middle name, but in his later years he used it as part ...
