Nepalese Canadians or Nepali Canadians are Canadians with roots in the South Asian country of Nepal.
Nepalis are recent immigrants in Canada and their numbers are relatively small. According to the 1991 report on immigration and citizenship, only 125 people indicated Nepal as their country of birth. Aside from immigrants from Nepal itself, there are also Nepali-speaking people from neighboring countries such as India, Burma and Bhutan as well as Nepalis who lived in other countries (Fiji, Hong Kong, the United Kingdom and the United States) before immigrating to Canada.
The majority of Nepalis in Canada migrated in pursuit of better economic opportunities and professional fulfilment. Some who had experienced discrimination in the countries they left were also attracted by the possibility of enjoying political and religious freedom in Canada. A small number of Nepalis arrived during the 1960s and early 1970s. From the late 1970s to the present there has been a relative increase in their number. Some Nepalis arrived in Canada as independent professionals and members of various occupational groups, while others were able to enter through family affiliations and personal contacts. A small group of Nepalis came through the Gurkha Welfare Appeal (Canada), which was established by Canadian military veterans after World War II.

U.S. Air Force airmen from the 36th Contingency Response Group assigned to Joint Task Force 505 along with the Candian Armed Forces and the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal conducted runway pavement evaluation on the runway at TR International Airport in Kathmandu Nepal May 8, 2015. The pavement evaluation tested to see if there were any significant changes to the soil beneath the runway since the earthquake. Any changes could restrict weight limitations to incoming flights in order to prevent any runway damage. The Nepalese government requested the U.S. Government assistance after a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck the country April 25. JTF-505 is working in conjunction with USAID and the international community to assist Nepal. INTERVIEW: Canadian service member, Maj. Simon Comtois, construction engineer with the Canadian Armed Forces disaster relief speaks about conducting a ground survey to test the integrity of the runway at the Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, Nepal, May 8, 2015. The Nepalese Government requested the U.S. Government's assistance after a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck the country, April 25, 2015. U.S. Pacific Command formed Joint Task Force (JTF) 505, which works in conjunction with USAD and the international community to provide unique capabilities to assist Nepal. Government ministers say members of a Canadian team are moving out from the Nepalese capital of Kathmandu on a reconnaissance mission in the earthquake-ravaged hinterlands. And Canadian officials are working to locate Canadians in remote locations and bring them back to Kathmandu, where a second military transport is set to arrive on Friday morning local time. That C-17 Globemaster aircraft will then be able to evacuate more people from the disaster zone once it is unloaded. Canada is also pre-positioning relief equipment in Germany, ready to be flown on to Nepal. Officials are still trying to pin down the number of Canadians who were in the country when the huge tremor hit on the weekend. While there may have been about 500 Canadians in the country then, about 100 were flown out on a military plane on Wednesday and another hundred or so are believed to have left on commercial flights. The scouting mission to outlying areas will help pinpoint where to focus relief efforts, said Defence Minister Jason Kenney. "The Canadian assessment team has left Kathmandu to carry out a reconnaissance mission in remote areas in order to best position our military team to help the Nepalese," Kenney told a news conference. Lynne Yelich, the junior foreign minister for consular affairs, said other efforts are being directed at finding Canadians in the boondocks. "We have a plan," Yelich said. "We're tracking for remote areas. We're currently planning outreach operations to track and map the locations of stranded Canadians and we're trying to secure traditional means of transportation to access the individuals, to bring them in." Kenney said the second C-17 carries 51 military technicians, including air movement specialists and communications experts. About 200 members of the Disaster Assistance Response Team are standing by in Trenton, Ont., ready to deploy once a role is defined for them. In addition to the disaster response team, the Canadian government has pledged $5 million in humanitarian assistance and is also matching donations from citizens until May 25. Canada's diplomatic presence in Nepal is limited but staff from the High Commission in Delhi have been sent to Kathmandu and a consular service point has been established at the Phora Durbar American Club. Planes carrying food, shelter and other supplies have been arriving steadily at Kathmandu's small airport, but the aid distribution process remains fairly chaotic, with Nepalese officials having difficulty directing the flow of goods. The U.N. World Food Program warned that it will take time for food and other supplies to reach more remote communities that have been cut off by landslides.

a. NTV Canada launch programme of 28 February 2015. Features felicitations and speech by newly appointed Nepal Ambassador to Canada HE Kali Prasad Pokhrel, Honorary Consul General Dr Kunjar Mani Sharma, various representatives of Nepalese associations and briefings by the volunteer and organizing team of NTV Canada.
b. Highlights of the Sherpa Associations annual Losar (new year) festivities.
c. Glimpses of the programme organized by NRN (Non-Resident Nepali) to felicitate and welcome new designated ambassador to Canada HE Kali Parasad Pokhrel.
d. Some views of the programme organized by Brampton Mt. Everest Lions club, featuring newly elected Brampton Mayor Linda Jeffrey, performances by renowned folk singer/musician Purna Nepali and Om Bikram Bista.
