Commonwealth's relevance in question
Leaders of the 54 member countries of the Commonwealth of Nations, an organisation of former British colonies, are meeting in Australian for their biennial summit. Representing almost two billion people worldwide, the meeting of the heads of states is the main decision-making forum of the group which it says shares "common values, a commitment to democracy, human rights" and, for most, a "common English language". But with rising criticism that the organisation has lost commitment to its ideals, many are now questioning whether the organisation still has any relevance at all. Al Jazeera's Andrew Thomas reports from Perth.

The British Empire
British Empire was a worldwide system of dependencies colonies, protectorates, and other territories that over a span of three centuries came under the British government. Territorial acquisition began in the early 17th century with a group of settlements in North America and West Indian, South Asian, and African trading posts founded by private individuals and trading companies. In the 18th century the British took Gibraltar, established colonies along the Atlantic seacoast of North America and in the Caribbean Sea, and began to add territory in India. With its victory in the French and Indian War (1763), the empire secured Canada and the eastern Mississippi Valley and gained supremacy in India. From the late 18th century it began to build power in Malaya and acquired the Cape of Good Hope, Ceylon and Malta. The British settled Australia in 1788 and subsequently New Zealand. Aden was secured in 1839, and Hong Kong in 1841. Britain went on to control the Suez Canal (1875-1956). In the 19th-century European partition of Africa, Britain acquired Nigeria, Egypt, the territories that would become British East Africa, and part of what would become the Union (later Republic) of South Africa. After World War I, Britain secured mandates to German East Africa, part of the Cameroons, part of Togo, German South-West Africa, Mesopotamia, Palestine, and part of the German Pacific islands. Britain gradually evolved a system of self-government for some colonies after the US gained ...

Jeffery Nape is the Worst Parliament Speaker in the Commonwealth of Nations
A plot to remove Speaker Jeffery Nape came unstuck when Nape himself refused to entertain what appeared to be proper dissent on his ruling before the house. The surprise move was sprung by the Opposition yesterday, and it appeared to have the support of many in the government side. Mr Nape was shocked when straight after prayer led by Pastor Joseph Walters who was invited in to bless the session, Bulolo MP Sam Basil sought leave of Parliament to move a motion without notice. Speaker Nape asked him to explain the nature of his motion which Mr Basil said was to move a vote of no confidence against the Speaker. His move was quickly seconded by Lae MP Bart Philemon. Realising what was going on, Mr Nape said the Standing Orders of Parliament does not allow vote of no confidence against the Speaker and ruled the motion out of order. Goroka MP and government backbench MP Thompson Harokaqveh quickly moved a dissent against the Speakers ruling. The three MPs refused to take their seats arguing that the Standing Orders allowed the motion as there was somebody who seconded the motion. New Ireland Governor and former Prime Minister Sir Julius Chan weighed in, saying there was a dissent on the Speakers ruling which needed to be entertained. Parliament for the next 10 minutes was in total disarray as the Prime Minister, deputy Prime Minister and Ministers and backbenchers were taken aback and remained silent, mostly stunned by the surprise move to vote on the fate of the Speaker. After ...

Forms (excerpt)
http://www.memo.tv/forms
Forms is an ongoing collaboration between visuals artists Memo Akten and Quayola, a series of studies on human motion, and its reverberations through space and time. It is inspired by the works of Eadweard Muybridge, Harold Edgerton, Étienne-Jules Marey as well as similarly inspired modernist cubist works such as Marcel Duchamp’s “Nude Descending a Staircase No.2″. Rather than focusing on observable trajectories, it explores techniques of extrapolation to sculpt abstract forms, visualizing unseen relationships – power, balance, grace and conflict – between the body and its surroundings.
The project investigates athletes; pushing their bodies to their extreme capabilities, their movements shaped by an evolutionary process targeting a winning performance. Traditionally a form of entertainment in todays society with an overpowering competitive edge, the disciplines are deconstructed and interrogated from an exclusively mechanical and aesthetic point of view; concentrating on the invisible forces generated by and influencing the movement.
The source for the study is footage from the Commonwealth Games. The process of transformation from live footage to abstract forms is exposed as part of the interactive multi-screen artwork, to provide insight into the evolution of the specially crafted world in which the athletes were placed.
The video installation is currently being exhibited at the National Media Museums ’In The Blink of an Eye’ Exhibition, 9th March – 2nd September, 2012, alongside classic images by photographers as diverse Harold Edgerton, Eadweard Muybridge, Roger Fenton, Richard Billingham and Oscar Rejlander as well as historic items of equipment, films and interactive displays.

Welcome to the Anthropocene
In June 2012, "Welcome to the Anthropocene"—a film about the state of the planet—opened the UN's Rio+20 summit on sustainable development. The summit was the largest UN meeting to date.
A 3-minute journey through the last 250 years of our history, from the start of the Industrial Revolution to the Rio+20 Summit. The film charts the growth of humanity into a global force on an equivalent scale to major geological processes.

commonwealth games 2010 delhi mere jaan offical video edit by gaurav khullar video editor ''9717307514'' One of the biggest sporting extravaganzas in the world is the Commonwealth Games. The Commonwealth Games is a multinational, multi-sport event held once every four years. Commonwealth Games is often referred to as the 'Friendly Games'. Athletes of the Commonwealth of Nations (the former colonies of British Empire) participate in this Game. On an average around 5000 athletes and officials, attend the Commonwealth Games. The Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) with its headquarter in London is the organisation that is responsible for the direction and control of the Commonwealth Games. The main objective of the CGF in organizing the Commonwealth Games is to improve the society and general well-being of the people of the Commonwealth of Nations. This can be achieved through encouragement and assistance of education via sports development and physical recreation. Thus, CGF has adopted three core values: - HUMANITY - EQUALITY - DESTINY that is the motto of the Commonwealth Games. "thanks for watch this video"
