Anatomy of Spine
In human anatomy, the vertebral column usually consists of 24 articulating vertebrae, and 9 fused vertebrae in the sacrum and the coccyx. It is situated in the dorsal aspect of the torso, separated by intervertebral discs. It houses and protects the spinal cord in its spinal canal, and hence is commonly called the spine, or simply backbone. There are normally thirty-three (33) vertebrae in humans, including the five that are fused to form the sacrum (the others are separated by intervertebral discs) and the four coccygeal bones that form the tailbone. The upper three regions comprise the remaining 24, and are grouped under the names cervical (7 vertebrae), thoracic (12 vertebrae) and lumbar (5 vertebrae), according to the regions they occupy. This number is sometimes increased by an additional vertebra in one region, or it may be diminished in one region, the deficiency often being supplied by an additional vertebra in another. The number of cervical vertebrae is, however, very rarely increased or diminished The spine is a column of bone and cartilage that extends from the base of the skull to the pelvis. It encloses and protects the spinal cord and supports the trunk of the body and the head. The spine is made up of approximately thirty-three bones called vertebrae. A joint that stabilizes the vertebral column and allows it to move connects each pair of vertebrae. Between each pair of vertebrae is a disk-shaped pad of fibrous cartilage with a jelly-like core, which is ...

Interactive 3D Vertebral Column
The vertebral column forms the central axis of the skeleton and is located in the posterior trunk of the human body. A series of bones called vertebrae and connective tissue make up the vertebral column. The natural curvature of the column provides support and balance to the body. Enclosed in the column is the spinal cord. The purpose of the vertebral column is to protect the spinal cord, support the skull and trunk and provide attachment for muscles. In this learning activity you will identify the major structural features of the vertebral column. You will also have a chance to test your memory and try to beat the clock by labeling each of the structures. Visit www.navtech3d.com for more information.

Baba Ramdev -Yoga for the Vertebral Column (Spinal Cord)
This features Yoga for the spine. The pitutary gland has been upheld as the seat of the consciousness for ages by both scientists and spiritualists. A seat that is responsible for the healthy and divine thought process, this gland is often affected by the disorders of the spine. Similarly, the brain controls all the activities of the human body. Therefore, it is very important for the spine to be in perfect working condition for the entire body to function properly. 3D Human Anatomy: Interactive Spine Software for Chiropractors
VisuMedical.com - Software features a 3D computer model of the anatomy of the entire vertebral column and spinal cord. All individual anatomical features can be seen in detail, high resolution, and in three dimensions. Peel away over 20 layers from skin to bone and rotate the model at any stage. You can also correlate views of the model with multi-planar MRI.
