Landscape Painting "Tips and Tricks" by Tim Gagnon - Painting Grass with a Fan Brush
This is the first "Tips and Tricks" video from GagnonStudio. The quality in this video isn't as high as I had hoped, because it was made rather quickly, but I will work on that for next Saturdays "Tips and Tricks" video. Please subscribe, or Tune in each Saturday. This video explains how to paint grass with an old fan brush. You can use a new fan brush as well, but an old fan brush has a unique shape due to missing and broken bristles. The unique shape makes a nice pattern for blades of grass. Using a dabbing technique and leaving small areas where the dark underpainting can show through creates depth and texture to the painting. The painting was completed with acrylic paint on canvas. Speed Painting: Landscape Painting Demo- 'Ocean Blue'
www.scottnaismith.co.uk Scott Naismith, Glasgow Based Contemporary Scottish Landscape Artist Another start to finish demonstration of my latest seascape/skyscape painting. This one measures 40 x 80cm. The omitting of any structures or land leaves freedom for me to express the concept of emerging light from darkness as a metaphor for optimism and hope. It's been great weather of late and I've included a part at the beginning of how I like to prepare my canvases, firstly with acrylic then with an oil primer. Creating a surface and 'tooth' I like during the priming and colour ground is key to much of the textures produced later in the painting. ALEX PEREZ Born in Santiago, Chile, in 1946, a fourth generation of artists. He expresses his own artistic passion and "joie de vivre" by recording nature on the canvas in a realist manner, his colors breathing life and vitality into his canvas adding a romantic realism approach and reflecting a peaceful and harmonious ambience. He has exhibited all over the world, and his works are included in private and public collections worldwide. The Watercolorist Essential Notebook Landscapes with Gordon Mackenzie
From ArtistsNetwork.TV: Gordon MacKenzie demonstrates in three stunning projects just what can be achieved in a landscape painting. With the use of simple, but extremely effective techniques Gordon breaks through new boundaries and creates suggestive, mood-filled paintings that sparkle with life. Gordon enjoys using a loose approach to his painting; he uses large wash brushes where possible and encourages you to fly where you might usually slow down for detail. Theres something particularly fresh and exciting about Gordons approach to landscapes, he uses innovative techniques such as modifying a brush to create what he calls a scrub brush used for lifting paint from the page to create a whole range of lighting effects. He also uses Popsicle sticks, paper towels, slices of sponge and much more to add a new dimension to his work. This is an essential guide to painting landscapes; the techniques you will learn will open doors to new painting possibilities, and Gordons friendly and easy-to-follow instruction you are sure to succeed. SASHA GREY
“For my film portrait of Sasha Grey, I wanted to focus on her expressive and psychological transformation into a cinematic actor, separate from the cues that have associated Sasha with her previous career as a performance artist working within the adult film world.” –Richard Phillips
Shot on location at the John Lautner Chemosphere House off Mulholland Drive, the film showcases Sasha as a perpetually evolving figure. Costume designer Ellen Mirojnick (“Basic Instinct,” “Fatal Attraction,” “Wall Street,” “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps”) dressed Sasha for the part in an array of lingerie and military inspired garments to highlight the dual nature of her masculine / feminine persona. Looking over the roadside from the vantage point of one the most legendary residences in modern and cinematic history, Sasha reflects on her relationship to the San Fernando Valley landscape- the location of some of her most noted adult performances. Back inside the circular vortex of the Chemosphere, Sasha's inner dialogue projects an equally diaristic and imaginary self-portrait that pushes beyond the extremes of her past filmography and into her new future.
“Sasha Grey,” along with Phillip’s first short film, “Lindsay Lohan,” will be included in "Commercial Break," presented by the Garage Center for Contemporary Culture, Venice, Italy, June 1 - 5, 2011, concurrent with the 54th international exhibition of the Venice Biennale.

A Richard Phillips Film
Directed by: Richard Phillips and Taylor Steele Director of Photography: Todd Heater Costume Designer: Ellen Mirojnick Creative Director: Dominic Sidhu Art Director: Kyra Griffin Editor: Haines Hall Color mastering: Pascal Dangin for Boxmotion Music: Chelsea Wolfe
About Richard Phillips
Phillips’ strikingly distinctive paintings are drawn from found imagery that deal with the marketability of man, his wishes, ideas, actions, identity, sexuality, politics, and desires. Images he translates into drawings and then paintings executed through a traditional process. In doing so, he makes use of the iconic quality of pictures, which the media and art use daily – each according to its own agenda. Perhaps more so than any other contemporary painter of his kind, Phillips’ imagery has achieved a level of pop recognition outside of the artworld with fashion, media and film collaborations, including Gossip Girl, MAC Cosmetics, The Art Production Fund, Visionaire, and a recent guest judge appearance on Bravo’s new TV series “Work of Art: The Next Great Artist”. Phillips’ most recent exhibition, Most Wanted at White Cube in London, features ten larger than life celebrity portraits set against red carpet step and repeat backdrops.
Born in Massachusetts in 1962, Richard Phillips lives and works in New York City. He has exhibited extensively throughout the U.S. and Europe including Gagosian Gallery, New York; the Kunsthalle Zürich; Le Consortium in Dijon; Max Hetzler, Berlin; and White Cube in London.

I am a photographer from Portland, Oregon. I want to share the beautiful NW region through my eyes with time-lapse photography.
I choose to shoot locations that appeal to the way I would like to interpret the story of time. Here in the Pacific Northwest, there are endless opportunities to document the magnificence of the world around us. I have discovered that when time is the storyteller, a special kind of truth emerges.
Various locations include ...
Mt. Shuksan, Crater Lake, Mt. Bachelor, Mount St. Helens, Oregon's Badlands, Painted Hills, Cape Kiwanda, Mt. Hood, Lost lake, and Cannon Beach
I started this project in July 2011 and shot the final scene in August 2012. I took approximately 260,000 images. I used 6.3 TB of hard drive space.

Within Two Worlds
"Within Two Worlds depicts an alternate perspective by giving us the illusion of times movement, signifying a beginning and end within a world of constant contradiction. It appears you are traveling in the midst of a dream, half-sleeping, half-waking, and touching the arch connecting heaven and earth."
I discovered my passion for photography shortly after my mother’s passing while hiking the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) 3 years ago. This time-lapse video is my visual representation of how the night sky and landscapes co-exist within a world of contradictions. I hope this connection between heaven and earth inspires you to discover and create your own opportunities, to reach your rightful place within two worlds.
Please feel free to share #withintwoworlds! Special thanks to all for your continued support and encouragement.

"Sail Away" Part 2 Watercolour Landscape Painting Demonstration
Visit my bookstore at www.LearnToPaint.net I never get bored with this type of scene. I began with a weak Raw Sienna wash across the whole of the sky area. I then used Ultramarine to create the negative white cloud shapes. The darker clouds were put in with Paynes Gray and Alizarin Crimson. The distant mountains are a reflection of the sky colours, as is the water.
