Larynx - Cartilages - 3D Anatomy Tutorial
www.anatomyzone.com 3D anatomy tutorial on the cartilages of the larynx using the Zygote Body Browser (http This is an introduction to the larynx, describing the cartilaginous framework. The epiglottis, thyroid, cricoid, arytenoid, corniculate and cuneiform cartilages are described in relation to each other and other structures. This is a good starting point for learning about the framework of the larynx. The next tutorial will cover the membranes, ligaments and vocal cords and the final tutorial will talk about muscles of the larynx in relation to it's function. Mal Webb's Larynx in Hamburg
In 2006, I was flown to Hamburg by an esteemed group of French and German physicist to act as a vocal guinea pig. I'm useful to those studying the acoustics of the voice because I'll try nearly anything (short of damaging my voice!) Nathalie Henrich, Lucie Bailly, Markus Hess, Anna-Katharina Licht and Frank Müller all coincided upon Universitätsklinikum Hamburg-Eppendorf for a few hours. Using a microphone, an ECG, a nasal laryngascope (with a strobe at times, which matches the frequency of the sound being produced) and several white coats, they recorded me making a wide variety of sounds. The video starts with the journey though my nose. Then there's some sideways yodeling (crossing the break from chest voice (and true head voice) into falsetto). This is my favourite thing and my instructional video on this is at: www.youtube.com ) Next, we have inbreath singing (starting with a triplet of chest to falsetto to inbreath). Then there's throat singing. I'm not much of a throat singer (especially with an endoscope right next to my larynx), but to have one larynx doing each of the 4 different "growly voices" on roughly the same pitch was rather useful to them. First, there's the sob/whinge growl (no-one seems to know what to call this one). Second is the vocal fry or croaky/morning voice. Thirdly, the Louis Armstrong/Fat Albert/Fozzie Bear which is where the ventricular folds (also called "false vocal chords") interact with the epiglottus (firstly with and then without vocal ...

Mal Webb's Larynx in Melbourne
Sideways yodeling, inbreath singing, beatbox and more in an up close and maybe a little too personal journey through the nose and into the throat of vocal adventurer, Mal Webb, via a flexible nasal endoscope (thanks to Melbourne Voice Analysis Clinic)! www.malwebb.com There's more sideways yodeling on this one than the last. Oh, and in case you're wondering, the small child you can hear at 0:07 isn't in my nose, I promise (neither is his mum, Deb). For more on sideways yodeling: www.youtube.com . And my other laryngoscopy video shows it in more detail: www.youtube.com

Vocal Tips - The Larynx Position While Singing
A case study on singers and their larynx position when singing or belting. Singers in this video: Barbra Streisand, Mariah Carey, Luther Vandross, Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Hudson, Charice Pempengco, Squire Parsons, Whitney Houston, Nina, Juan Diego Flores, Shanice Wilson, David Phelps, Celine Dion, Leona Lewis, Vanessa Amorosi, Beyonce, Shirley Bassey, Miley Cyrus, Jessica Simpson, Steve Perry, Sarah Geronimo and Fergie. The video underlines the importance of keeping a neutral larynx position and show you why you shouldn't push or pull your larynx. Table of Contents: 1. Introduction 2. Neutral Larynx 3. Pulling the larynx up (High Larynx) 4. Pushing the larynx down 5. Analysing clips 6. Test The purpose of this video is not to bash singers but to educate people so they don't sing with bad techniques just because their favorite singer might somehow use that technique before. Of course, you want to achieve the best production without ruining your own voice. The position of larynx while singing does affect your vocal health and your production. Again, the video is criticizing the singers' technique, not the singers themselves! It also aims to help people differentiate between a good high note and a bad high note because a lot of people are easily impressed by a high note just because it is loud. PS. In the video, when I said "vocal chords" I mean "vocal cords", it's a typo :) Enjoy! Comment, Like, Favorite, Share & Subscribe!
