The Four Season Colors of Seoul
Seoul has very four distinct seasons. Summers can be hot and humid, while winters are often frigid and accompanied by snow. The autumn is considered particularly beautiful, when the high Korean sky is a crisp blue and Seoul's surrounding hillsides turn a radiant red as the maple leaves change color. In the downtown area, the yellow leaves of the ginkgo trees bathe the city in a sea of gold. Located at 37.33 degrees north longitude, Seoul is located in the temperate zone, and at 127 degrees east latitude, it's at the eastern end of the Asian landmass, giving it a coastal climate as well. Its yearly average temperature is 11.1 degrees centigrade, with an average August temperate of 25.4 degrees centigrade, and an average January temperature of -3.4 degrees centigrade. These are, on the whole, relatively lower temperatures compared to other global cities of its size. In winter the city experiences cold high-pressure systems from the continent, while in summer it gets sweltering maritime air masses leading to annual temperature changes of 30 degrees, similar to other continental climates. The average annual precipitation is 1370 mm. The city gets 72 percent of this precipitation in four months---June, July, August and September. In particular, 20 percent falls in July when Korea experiences its rainy season. This rainy season is important for the cultivation of crops, particularly rice. As Seoul has become urbanized, it has developed into a heat island like other urban ...

2012 The City of Qinhuangdao China TV Spots 2012年秦皇岛旅游宣传片《秦皇岛之韵》.flv
Qínhuángdǎo is a port city in northeastern Hebei province, People's Republic of China. It is about 300 km (190 mi) east of Beijing, on the Bohai Sea, the innermost gulf of the Yellow Sea.Its population during the 2010 census was 2987605, with 820800 living in the urban area of 3 districts. Since the elevation of Tianjin to a provincial-level municipality, Qinhuangdao is the chief port of Hebei province. The Qin emperor Qin Shi Huang is said to have sought immortality on an island in the Haigang district, but did not find it. Qinhuangdao has three main developed areas: Beidaihe: A summer seaside resort for senior government officials. Many political decisions affecting China are made here, making it the equivalent to resorts in Maine or Camp David in Maryland, United States.[2] Haigang: the harbor city. Qinhuangdao proper. Home of Yan Shan University, the leading university in NE Hebei province. Shanhaiguan: a popular tourist destination, featuring the eastern end of the Great Wall. Qinhuangdao's Olympic Sports Centre Stadium was used as an Olympic Competition Venue (Football Preliminary) during the 2008 Summer Olympics. Climate Qinhuangdao has a monsoon-influenced humid continental climate (Köppen Dwa), with four distinct seasons. Winters are cold and dry due to the Siberian high, which can cause winds to blow in from the northwest, minimising the oceanic influence: the monthly daily average temperature in January is −4.8 °C (23.4 °F), colder than Beijing's −3.7 °C ...

Poprad, Slovakia
www.facebook.com www.ceepackaging.com twitter @ceepackaging www.facebook.com Poprad (Hungarian: Poprád, German: Deutschendorf) is a city in northern Slovakia at the foot of the High Tatra Mountains famous for its picturesque historic centre and as a holiday resort. It is the biggest town of the Spiš region and the tenth largest city in Slovakia with a population of approximately 55000. The Poprad-Tatry Airport is an international airport located just outside the city. Poprad is also the starting point of the Tatra Electric Railway (known in Slovak as Tatranská elektrická železnica), a set of special narrow-gauge trains connecting the resorts in the High Tatras with each other and with Poprad. Main line trains link Poprad to other destinations in Slovakia and beyond; in particular, there are through trains running from Poprad to Prague in the Czech Republic. The territory belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary since the 10th century and was probably originally inhabited by Slavic settlers. It was colonized in the 13th century by German settlers and became the largely German town Deutschendorf meaning 'Germans' village'. From 1412 to 1770, as one of the Szepes towns, Poprad was pawned by the Kingdom of Hungary to the Kingdom of Poland, resulting in a strong Polish influence on the city's further development. Poprad itself, the first written reference to which dates from 1256, was for 690 years (up until 1946) just one of several neighbouring settlements, which currently make up ...

The Forests of Europe - Climatic Influences
In Europe, the climate can be divided into zones: The growing season and the average temperature increase from north to south and the extremes in temperature within the daily and annual cycles increase from west to east. These climatic influences determine the incidence of tree species and the composition of the forest communities. Arctic Zone: Short summer with nights without sunsets (midnight sun) and long very cold winter. Precipitation primilary as snow Boreal Zone: Cold temperate with cool moist summers and cold winters lasting six months Atlantic Zone: Mild, equable diurnal and annual course of temperature and atmospheric humidity Temperate Zone: Relatively cool and moist with large fluctuations among the seasons Mediterranean Zone: Warm to hot summers, mild winters. Most of the precipitation falls in winter Subcontinental Zone: Transition between Atlantic and continental climates Continental Zone: Extreme diurnal and annual course of temperature and atmospheric humidity. Istanbul and Marmara Promotional Video
The Marmara Region (Turkish: Marmara Bölgesi), with a surface area of 67.000 km², is the smallest but most densely populated of the seven geographical regions of Turkey. It represents approximately 8.6% of the Turkish national territory and about 30% of its population. This region was officially put in existence after the Geography Congress of 1941 in Ankara and is geographically divided into four regional parts. Its name derives from the Sea of Marmara, which itself is named for the island of Marmara. Although the first inhabitents of the Marmara region were various Indo-European tribes, the area is best known for being a focus of intense ancient Greek settlement. The famed city of Troy, center of the Iliad, was located in the region. It was also involved in the Persian wars, with various parts beinmg split between the Persian Empire and the Delian League. Marmara was later conquered by the Roman Empire. After emperor Constantine the Great converted to Christianity, Marmara quickly became a center of the Christian faith. Its most important city, Constantinople, was a stronghold of the Christian Byzantine Empire even after Muslims began to predominate in neighboring regions. It therefore remained predominately Christian until Muslim Turks invaded Anatolia in the late eleventh century. Afterwords, it was a territory of various Turkish and Christian empires, until it was finally conquered by Islam by the Ottoman empire, which gave Constantinople its present name, Istanbul ...

Here's Some Info On Somerset, Pa
Somerset ( /ˈsʌmərsɛt/) is a borough in Somerset County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 6277 at the 2010 census.[1] The borough is surrounded by Somerset Township. It is the county seat of Somerset County.[2] Somerset is just off Exit 110 of the Pennsylvania Turnpike (I-70 and I-76). History The Somerset County Courthouse and Uptown Somerset Historic District are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.[3] [edit]Geography Somerset is located at 40°0′25″N 79°4′53″W (40.006920, -79.081297)[4]. According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 2.7 square miles (7.0 km2), all of it land. Somerset has the ninth-highest elevation of towns in Pennsylvania, at 2190 feet (670 m) above sea level.[5] [edit]Climate Somerset has a humid continental climate that is affected by the high elevation, rendering them colder much of the winter than Altoona, Johnstown, or State College, despite being well south of either location, although the average winter high temperatures are a bit higher. Somerset holds the June and November record lows for the state of Pennsylvania. Somerset is also the only place in Pennsylvania to receive accumulations of snow in June before (other places at most received a partial dusting), and due to the arctic air, it was powdery snow that was photographed being swept off porches with brooms. en.wikipedia.org

Small Shifts, Large Impacts: Global Climate Change and Regional Hydrology
Enno Schefuß, University of Bremen, Germany
Future climate change is projected to not only result in global warming due to continued greenhouse gas emissions but also to have profound impact on regional continental hydrology affecting quantity and quality of water resources, crop yields, fire occurrence, flooding and soil erosion. As regional hydrologic responses differ strongly regionally depending on land surface characteristics and interactions between atmosphere, ocean and land, climate models so far diverge not only in magnitude but also in sign of predicted changes. While some of the discrepancies may arise from yet not well understood biogeochemical feedbacks, like vegetation response, and/or anthropogenic effects, such as increased land-use, others may result from an incomplete understanding of atmospheric responses to changed boundary conditions, such as ice cover and the strength of the ocean heat conveyor, i.e. the so-called thermohaline circulation.
Nature provided a few ‘disturbance experiments’ during the past as ‘benchmark cases’ for atmospheric responses to changes in circulation and global temperatures. These continental hydrologic changes are recorded in sedimentary archives on land and offshore marine settings. While lakes record specifically local signals marine archives can receive their terrestrial signals from a large-scale integrated catchment and also record oceanic changes, such as shifts in surface temperatures.
To asses paleo-rainfall changes parameters are applied as proxies providing insights into past continental hydrologic changes, which, in an ideal case, can also be parameterized in general circulation models for evaluation of climate model performance. The isotopic composition of rainfall is determined by external factors like global ice volume and transport pathway of moisture as well as atmospheric processes such as condensation temperature and rainfall intensity. In the tropics, the latter, called the ‘amount effect’ is dominating the signal.
Compound-specific isotope analyses of terrestrial plant lipids in sedimentary archives are a novel tool to address paleo-rainfall changes. Despite uncertainties regarding the significance of minor factors, such as relative humidity changes, hydrogen isotope compositions of plant lipids are well-suited to monitor past changes in continental rainfall which can directly be compared to model results. Results of such analyses reveal distinct patterns of regional rainfall changes in response to sudden past climate changes, which will enable refined predictions for future scenarios.

Cotton is the most widely used textile fiber. We can find this plant quite all over the world, but it prefers warm and humid climates. It belongs to the Malvaceae family, such as hibiscus or cocoa. It’s a hardy plant that can live for long if it grows wild, becoming a medium size shrub. It’s unusual to find wild cotton, in fact, mostly is grown to produce the thread used for weaving. Crossing a thread with another thread we create cloths.
The thread of cotton, during time, do not served just to weave cloth, but also to weave history. The man observed from cotton is a collection of texts, words, experiences, that document man approaches toward the environmental and other humans being over the centuries. In Dogon language soy - cloth - means also “the verb”. Juxtaposing these stories of past, present and future, we can create a panorama, a peculiar landscape made of words. At a first gaze these experiences seem maybe far and different, but they are not. The thread of cotton interconnect them all, all this collective lives, for better or for worse. From this panorama emerges as this material do not serve just to produce artifacts, but has been also a tool to address our immaterial impulses, from one continent to another, from once century to another, a tool that we are still using for writing history.

Over the roofs of Berlin -- in winter
The film presents views over Berlin, captured from the following elevated locations: Funkturm (radio tower) Berlin, Triumphal Column (Siegessaeule) and Teufelsberg (an artificial hill, built from the rubble of Berlin after the Second World War). The sequences were filmed on a winter day in January 2012. It was cold, but sunny. Berlin is characterized by a humid continental climate (hot summers and very cold winters, only rarely snow). The city state has a population of 3440441 registered inhabitants, the metropolitan area of the Berlin-Brandenburg region a population of 4.3 million. Berlin is divided into twelve boroughs. Berlin is an unusual green town with many parks and forest areas such as the "Grunewald". The "Grunewald" and the biggest central park, the "Tiergarten", are presented in the film from an aerial perspective. The "Grunewald" is situated in the western side of Berlin and it is separated by the river "Havel" from the borough "Spandau". The "Tiergarten" was originally designed in the 1830s by the landscape architect Peter Joseph Lenné.
