Dyno test: 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 at 1 mile above sea level
( www.TFLcar.com ) The 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 is the fastest and most powerful vehicle that Jeep has ever built. With a massive HEMI engine that produces 470 HP and 465 lb-ft of torque. At Sea Level it will easily accelerate from 0-60 MPH in under 5 seconds. But when we tested the car at about one mile above sea level in Denver we got a 0-60 MPH time of 6.1 seconds. To find out why there's such a significant difference between the two times we put the new Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 on a Dyno and did a Dyno test to determine the real horsepower at all for wheels. Check out this video to find out why car are so much slower at high altitudes than at sea level.

Digable Planets - 9th Wonder (Blackitolism)
From 1994 Album: "Blowout Comb"..... Digable Planets Myspace: www.myspace.com Get Digable Planets Music: www.amazon.com & itunes.apple.com Digable Planets is a Grammy Award-winning American Alt Hip Hop group based in New York City, composed of Ishmael "Butterfly" Butler (from Seattle), Craig "Doodlebug" Irving (from Philadelphia), and Mary Ann "Ladybug Mecca" Vieira (from Washington, DC). They were backed by Silkworm, who later embarked on a solo career under the name King Britt. Digable Planets' fusion of jazz and hip hop received excellent reviews and solid sales with the release of its debut album, Reachin' (A New Refutation of Time and Space), in 1993, which was certified gold by the RIAA. The album's lead single, "Rebirth of Slick (Cool Like Dat)," in 1994 became a crossover hit, peaking at #15 on Billboard magazine's singles chart, earning gold certification by the RIAA, and winning the Grammy award for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group. Its second album, Blowout Comb, was released in 1994 (see 1994 in music). The novelty of the group's jazz/hip-hop fusion had passed, leading to disappointing sales. The trio soon broke up due to creative differences, as well as the deaths of both of Ladybug's parents due to unrelated illnesses. However, a retrospective album Beyond the Spectrum: The Creamy Spy Chronicles was released in 2005, which included unreleased recordings. The Planets played at BB King's in Times Square, NYC on 10/8/2008 and announced that a new album ...

City in a pyramid
The Shimizu TRY 2004 Mega-City Pyramid is a proposed project for construction of a massive pyramid over Tokyo Bay in Japan. The structure would be about 14 times higher than the Great Pyramid at Giza, and would house 750000 people. The structure would be 730 meters above mean sea level, including 5 stacked trusses, each with similar dimensions to that of the great pyramid of Giza. This pyramid would help answer Tokyo's increasing lack of space, although the project would only handle 1/47th of the Greater Tokyo Area's population.[1] The idea partially stems from the fictional architectural marvel of the Tyrell Corporation, which appears in the science fiction film Blade Runner (1982), as a duo of futuristic pyramidal structures. The proposed structure is so large that it cannot be built with currently available materials, due to their weight. The design relies on the future availability of super-strong lightweight materials based on carbon nanotubes.

248828 Global Warming - What the Goverment Isn't Telling You
Special Thanks to migfoxbat. John Moore is an ex-Special Forces, ex-Military intelligence, ex-Police detective who has a radio show on Republic National Radio.org. In this presentation Moore relates what his sources in the Navy and FBI are saying about 'Global Warming' Moore says that Global Warming is a front for the climate changes from the incoming Planet X or Nibiru or whatever else we might call it. Moore says according to the Navy the entire Eastern Coast, all of Florida, Southern Georgia, all of Alabama, all of Mississippi, all of Louisiana and the east coast of Texas will be completely underwater. Also the Mississippi River will increase in size to be 100 miles wide and merge with Lake Michigan. All of Illinois and Wisconsin will be completely under water. The West coast of the USA will also be effected the extent of which will depend on seismic activity. Part of Washington state would also be under water. Now this is only what is supposed to happen to the USA. The whole world will be effected. Most areas 100 feet or less above mean sea level will be underwater areas up to 400 feet will be effected in some manner. Moore cites some proofs like CIA headquarters moving to Denver, CO. He mentions the Vatican library was closed in 2007 and has been moved. Moore has several other examples of the Governments of the world preparing for this event. ENTIRELY NEW FORMS OF LIGHTNING HAVE BEEN DISCOVERED UP TO 1000 TIMES BIGGER THAN ANY BOLT PREVIOUSLY SEEN. WHILE NORMAL LIGHTNING FIRES DOWN BELOW CLOUDS, THESE GIANT BOLTS SHOOT UP, STUNNING EXPERTS WITH IMAGES OF LIGHTNING 80 KILOMETRES HIGH.
THIS LIGHTNING, SIX TIMES MORE POWERFUL THAN PASSENGER PLANES ARE DESIGNED TO WITHSTAND, MAY BE THE REAL KILLER IN A SPATE OF BAFFLING AIR DISASTERS.

AND FOR THE FIRST TIME WE CAN REVEAL THE PHOTOGRAPH THAT SPARKED A SECRET NASA ENQUIRY.
WAS THIS THE PROOF THAT A HIGH ALTITUDE LIGHTNING STRIKE CAUSED THE CRASH OF THE SPACE SHUTTLE COLUMBIA?
Title card:

NARRATOR:
EACH DAY, THE EARTH IS SHAKEN BY 8 MILLION BOLTS OF THE SKY'S MOST POWERFUL FORCE: LIGHTNING.
Bolt of lightning.
NARRATOR:
ENERGY FROM ONE BOLT EXPLODES IN SPLIT SECOND, BUT COULD POWER A HOUSEHOLD FOR HALF A YEAR. AT ANY TIME, 1800 STORMS PUMMEL OUR PLANET. EACH ONE IS A GIANT BATTERY. INSIDE A STORM, WATER TURNS TO HAIL. FAILLING ICE CRASHES ON RISING DROPLET, CREATING STATIC ELECTRICITY. CHARGES OF UP TO 100 MILLION VOLTS BUILD UP. ARCS OF ELECTRICITY FIRE OUT. THIS IS LIGHTNING. MORE THAN 90 PERCENT OF ALL BOLTS FIRE WITHIN CLOUDS. BUT A HIGHLY CHARGED STORM WILL FIRE A CASCADE OF ELECTRICAL CHARGE TO EARTH, DRAWN TO THE HIGHEST POINT. A TREE OR A BLADE OF GRASS CAN TRIGGER LIGHTNING, OR EVEN A PERSON. EACH YEAR, 100O PEOPLE AROUND THE WORLD DIE FROM DIRECT HIT. A LIGHTNING BOLT IS ONLY 3 CM WIDE. BUT AT 33,000 DEGREES CELCIUS, IT IS HOTTER THAN THE SURFACE OF THE SUN.

NARRATOR:
THIS HEAT EXPANDS THE SURROUNDING AIR, WHICH EXPLODES OUTWARDS AS THUNDER, THE SOUND OF LIGHTNING.

NARRATOR:
A LIGHTNING FLASH TRAVELS AT THE SPEED OF LIGHT; IT'S THUNDER TRAVELS MUCH SLOWER. THE SHORTER THE TIME BETWEEN THE FLASH AND THE THUNDER, THE CLOSER THE LIGHTNING BOLT. FEW CLOUD TO GROUND STRIKES ARE LONGER THAN THREE KILOMETRES. AND TEXTBOOKS SAID NO LIGHTNING COULD EXIST ABOVE THE CLOUDS.

Larry Partridge, pilot.
Larry Partridge:
All of a sudden, POW! Just a split second, this huge bolt of lightning came out of the top and disappeared into deep blue space. The captain turned to me and said, wide eyed, and said did you see that? And so I said yes, and so we turned and told the flight engineer, and he said, that's impossible. Lightning doesn't go up.

Tuvalu - Islands on the frontline of Climate Change
With photography by Robin Hammond and produced by Panos Pictures, this multimedia piece looks at the island nation of Tuvalu, as the Tuvaluan people become some of the first environmental refugees, a direct result of man-made climate change.
In December this year a treaty to replace the Kyoto protocol will be drawn up at the climate change conference in Copenhagen. At a preliminary summit in March, scientists presented new information that revised previous estimates of future sea level rise. The new figures suggest that by the end of the century the oceans could be one metre or more above their current levels. Coastal regions will be flooded and low-lying nations such as the tiny South Pacific country of Tuvalu could be submerged.
The impact of rising seas and the increase in extreme weather events can already be seen in Tuvalu. It is one of 22 Pacific island nations with 7 million inhabitants between them that contribute only 0.06% of global greenhouse gas emissions but are three times more vulnerable to climate change than countries in the North.
At the primary school in Funafuti, children are taught about climate change from the age of six. They are also learning what it means to emigrate, because this could be the last generation of children to grow up in Tuvalu. Its people are already in flight. More than 4,000 live in New Zealand, and the Tuvaluan government is planning the migration of the remaining 10,000.

DIY Telecine TUTORIAL Flatbed Photo Scanner Super 8 16mm Film Scan
Alternative to convert Super8, 16mm and 9.5mm films to digital video using inexpensive flatbed photo scanner and frame extraction free software. Now with optical sound extraction. There is also a new free software for 35mm films under development with a beta version.
"As well as the seeds are planted in the earth and sprinkled with water to grow trees that give fruits to feed us, the silver seeds are planted in the film and sprinkled with light to grow on the screen forming images that tell stories to feed us too"
Main advantages:
1 - The softwares are free
2 - The Flatbed Photo Scanner is inexpensive
3 - Great results scanning negative or positive films due to the scanner is improved to both.
4 - This method can keep the beauty of film grain instead of bluring it.
5 - Do not need time consuming and difficult projector modifications
6 - The scanner can do HDR scan and manual exposure with levels control
7 - Scanner is useful for other tasks like photo negative, slide and print scans, a good investiment
8 - The process can be automated if you build a film transport hardware
9 - The scanner is portable and works with notebooks
10 - The resolution is good for 720p or 1080p HD output.
11 - The software works on average computers
12 - The software has options for all aspect ratios, R8, S8, 9.5mm, 16mm, S16, U16, and also "All The Gate"
13 - The film guide to run the film through the scanner is simple and easy to build
14 - The scanner software has manual or automatic setttings for scan, so you can do image correction in post production or in the scanning moment making things easier and faster if you want.
15 - You can do other tasks in the same computer while you scan the film, you just need to run the film, click scan, wait scan, and do it again, file naming and file saving are automatic.
16 - This method keeps the perfect 24p frame cadence, something difficult to get doing realtime telecine with an unmodified or even modified projector. This method is the same thing of a frame by frame filmscan, a thing serious filmmakers dream about. You can get this with a projector, but you will need a frame by frame projector, or a very slow motion projector and rebuild the movie in video editing software.
17 - the scanner and software can extract all the image in the film frames, without cropping it
18 - new feature added: optical sound extraction
Main disvantage:
(the numbers presented here may vary depending on the scanner used)
If you work with a big transparency lid scanner like the Epson V700 and V750 and low dpi setting, like 3200 dpi, you can scan one 50 feet super 8 cartridge in one hour work, and one 100 feet 16mm reel in two hour work, good for a DVD quality output or to share on internet.
After some new tests i found 3200 dpi is the best quality/performance resolution for DVD and WEB. Also using unsharp mask in scanner software gives good quality and faster workflow to improve the image. You can chose low, medium or heavy unsharp mask in EpsonScan software.
But, if you want Full HD quality (Bluray output)...
Working at 9600 dpi for Super 8 or 6400 dpi for 16mm film, the highest quality possible, It will take 1 minute and 50 seconds do to each scan, counting the time to run the film manually, click scan and the scanner work itself, and the number of frames per scan will reduce signifcantly due to limits in file size, increasing the number of scans. So it will be about 8 hours work to scan one 50 feet Super 8 cartridge or 16 hours work to scan one 100 feet 16mm reel, if you do not stop. DIY work means you really need to work, so if you think you can do it, go on and read the full text bellow, all you need to know is here. (remember you can build the hardware transport to leave the system scanning all the reel alone, unsupervised). Then take a deep breath and go ahead...
The history:
When I was researching about negative / slide scanners I realized it could be used to scan Super8 and 16mm films, because the scan quality was good and a flatbed scanner could scan many frames at a time.
But I realize the challenge would be how to extract the frames from the scanned filmstrips and how to build a movie with good stabilization and in a good / fast workflow?
So I started google about super8 telecine / scan / scanning.
I found some unsuccessful try outs but suddenly I was pointed to a German super8 enthusiast who developed a great solution to extract frames from scanned filmstrips with great quality and stabilization.
I downloaded his free software and did some trys with the provided film strips he included in the software. The software was very mature in development, version 5, with the main features ready to do the job for regular 8 and super 8. The idea is simple and smart, the software uses the sprocket holes as reference to find, align and extract the frames.
I became excited about the results I got and started talking to him by email about it, and I asked him to include an option to extract Max8 (Sup

THE KING'S SON & THE EMPEROR'S DAUGHTER complete (90 minutes)
a 90 minute collage of text, music and images, based on the lives of rabbi nachman of breslav and salon hostess rahel varnhagen. the lives of these two historical persons overlapped during the first decade of the 19th century. rabbi nachman of breslav founded the breslav hassidic sect in the ukraine, and rahel varnhagen was a salon hostess of the jewish enlightenment movement, known as the "haskalah", in berlin. i combined their biographies and imagined what might have happened in reality and in fantasy if nachman showed up at rahel's salon and attempted to bring the assimilating jews there back to the fold of orthodox judaism. the 90 minute show begins in the style of naturalism and evolves into an expressionistic fantasy being woven by the two main characters, in which nachman projects onto rahel the role of "the shekhinah" ( female aspect of god and also the jewish people in relation to god), while rahel projects onto nachman the role of messiah. so we end up at the end of the show with a fantasy marriage of the jewish people and the jewish messiah at the end of days, without forgetting for a moment that in real life these two never met and as a matter of fact rahel converted to christianity and married the german protestant nobleman august varnhagen.

APPRECIATING MY MUSICAL SHOW
"RAHEL! RAHEL!"
1. GENERAL THEORY
Of course, the best way to begin to appreciate most works of art is just to experience
them a few times and form your own conclusions. The opinions of the creator of an
artwork are merely incidental at that stage of the process. And certainly once an
artwork is created it takes on a life of its own, just like a child more and more slips out
of the control of its parents. Nevertheless, I think we will agree that this particular
artwork is unique in its form, what it seeks to accomplish, and the demands it makes on
its audience. "Rahel! Rahel!" is an ambitious project which reaches out beyond the
realm of art and grapples with major issues of religion and philosophy. Whether I as
the author have succeeded in my project is for you the audience to decide, but since
my artwork is intended to operate on several different levels I feel it appropriate for me
to lay out for you the plan of what might be there for you if I have succeeded in carrying
out my original goals. Just as I did not compromise in creating the piece, I will not
compromise here in discussing the piece. If you don't "get it", maybe I failed and there
ain't nothing there to "get" in the first place. Or if you don't "get it", maybe you need to
do some homework on your own, or just give up on it and go do something else more

Nachman of Breslav wrote "my Torah is entirely 'b'hinot' ". "B'hinot", in Hebrew, means
"aspects of", "associations", "points of view". For example, if I think of vanilla ice cream
then I can associate to that idea chocolate ice cream, or cows, or a forest of vanilla
beans somewhere in Madagascar. In other words, there is no limit to the range of
possible associations I might get. Nachman might have said instead, "my Torah is
entirely induction", and then we would contrast inductive logic to deductive logic.
Deductive logic begins with a single idea and like an upside down tree follows the
ramifications of that idea out into the myriad subdivisions and corollaries of that idea.
Scientific textbooks usually are written deductively. Inductive logic begins with the vast
realm of concrete living awareness experiences and step by step moves up the upside
down tree back to a single encompassing idea that strives to somehow include all of
the original experiences in its breadth. Francis Bacon in the 14th century championed
inductive logic. Theologically speaking, Breslav kabbalah is inductive thinking, while Chabad kabbalah is deductive thinking. Nachman begins with a wide range of Torah
texts and trusts in associative links to get to his main points, while Shneur Zalman,
author of the Chabad "Tanya", writes an orderly textbook in which he systematically
lays out his major and minor premisses. But both authors are using the same tree style
thinking. Nachman moves up the upside down tree, while Shneur Zalman moves
down the upside down tree, the kabbalistic tree of life on which the "sefirot" (points of
view) are hanging like Christmas tree ornaments. For philosophy in general, this tree

LA GRAN SABANA
La Gran Sabana (English: The Great Savannah) is one of the major natural attractions in Venezuela and is located approximately 1400 km from Caracas, in the south of Bolívar State on a land belonging to the Quaternary period, the only one existing today in our planet earth. The area has a tropical humid climate with an average temperature of 28 °C, but at night it can go down to 13 °C. The Gran Sabana lies on a plateau with a mean altitude of 1000 meters above sea level and is dotted with huge table-top mountains called tepuis, which rise dramatically from the surrounding plains. Mount Roraima is the tallest of the tepuis at 2810 meters above sea level. It also marks the triple border point for Venezuela, Brazil and Guyana. Kukenan tepui. The most important town in the region is Santa Elena de Uairen, the municipal capital, which is 5 kilometers from the Venezuelan-Brazilian border. It has a population of approximately 12000 inhabitants. The region is inhabited by several indigenous groups, including the Pemon, who are the most numerous. Canaima National Park, which was created by a decree on the 12th of June, 1962, encompasses most of the Gran Sabana but the areas do not exactly match. In 1975 the Canaima National Park was extended from the original 10000 km² to 30000 km², making it the sixth largest national park in the world. The main attractions for visitors to the region are Angel Falls, the world's highest waterfall, Mount Roraima, the mountain which inspired Arthur ...
