Circa (from Latin, meaning "around"), usually abbreviated c. or ca. (also circ. or cca.), means "approximately" in the English language, usually referring to a date.^[1] Circa is widely used in genealogy and historical writing when the dates of events are not precisely known.

When used in date ranges, the term "circa" is applied before each approximate date, while dates without "circa" immediately preceding them are generally assumed to be known with certainty.

Examples:

• 1732–1799, both the years shown and the date range are precisely known
• c. 1732–1799, only the second year shown is certain, the first year is approximately known
• 1732 – c. 1799, in this case the first year is certain, and the second year is approximate
• c. 1732 – c. 1799, both the years shown and the date range are approximately known

He was raised in Southboro, Massachusetts, and he currently resides in Carlsbad, California. He was first noticed in the skate video PJ Ladd's Wonderful Horrible Life, a shop video from Coliseum skate shop located in Boston.^[1] He is also affiliated with True East Skateshop, which is an East Coast based chain of mom and pop shops. Gallant was first sponsored by Expedition One skateboards and had a video part in their first video entitled, "Alone". Gallant also had video parts in Gold Wheels, "Got Gold?", Transworld Skateboarding's 2005 video entitled, "First Love", and a short video montage in DC's DC Video. In April 2009, Gallant left his long time sponsor DC Shoes and established a sponsorship deal with Circa.^[2]

He is also featured in the 2007 video game, EA Skate as a playable character.^[3] He is also featured in the EA Skate sequels, Skate 2 and Skate 3.

He is now currently^[when?] skateboarding for Expedition One skateboards, Gold Wheels, C1RCA shoes, Independent Trucks, Swiss Bearings, MOB Grip, and True East Skate Shop.

He has a trick named after him called the "Gallant Grind".^[4]
