Bach, Toccata and Fugue in D minor, organ
Bach's most famous organ piece, with a bar-graph score. FAQ To download this video or make a contribution to support this project: vimeo.com Q: Can I download a version to play on my computer/iPod/iPad/iPhone/etc.? A: Yes, you can get that here: musanim.cerizmo.com Q: Where can I get free sheet music for this piece? A: Sheet music for this can be found here: tinyurl.com Q: Who wrote Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D Minor? Q: Isn't that like asking who's buried in Grant's Tomb? A: Heh-heh. A theory has recently (1981) been put forth that JS Bach did not write this piece. A brief summary of the supporting evidence for this theory can be read here: en.wikipedia.org Q: What's wrong with synchronization? A: I don't know, but it appears that if you use this URL, it works better: www.youtube.com Q: Where can I get the mp3 of this? A: You can download it here: www.musanim.com Q: What does the piece look like as a whole? A: There are versions you can print out here www.musanim.com The 'scroll' version is for cutting out and taping together to form a long strip. Q: Where can I get the MIDI file that this was made from? A: I'm not sure it's exactly the same, but the closest I could find was this: www.musanim.com Q: Hey, what happened to my question/comment? A: Questions answered in the FAQ, and comments with nothing to do with the video ("spam"), are removed. If you posted a comment and don't know why it's gone, email me (stephen at musanim dot com) with "YouTube comment" in the ...

St Nicholas Church, Leipzig - Nikolaikirche - Organ Music, Site of Monday Demonstrations DDR
Whenever I'm walking the streets of Leipzig, I always stop by St. Nicholas Church (Nikolaikirche). It's open all day, and it's a huge tourist attraction for the city. There are many elements of intrigue when it comes to St. Nicholas. Johan Sebastian Bach's affiliation with the church is a huge draw. His bust can be seen in this video. The organ is also world famous. It's absolutely massive and the church holds performances with it on a regular basis. St. Nicholas Church is perhaps most famous for the Monday Demonstrations against the government of the Deutsche Demokratische Republik. The gatherings were peaceful protests that grew in size each week and spread to other cities around East Germany. Protestors chanted "We are the people" and demanded the right to control their destiny. East German forces never intervened during the protests as they grew too large. The movement is credited, in part, for the Berlin Wall coming down and the unification of Germany. Architecturally, the church is stunning. The outside is Gothic looking, while the inside is airy and full of light colors - similar to a Rococo style. Some churches or historical attractions are strict when it comes to photography. As you can see, St. Nicholas Church has no problem with visitors taking photos. However, they accept donations and operate a small gift shop. The building is old, and it's clear that renovations and improvements have been made to bring the place back to its original glory. It's nice to see ...

Nancianne Parella plays the Organ at Trinity Church
Recorded on 04.28.11 Nancianne Parrella is Associate Organist of the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola, where she works closely with director Kent Tritle in the Church's extensive liturgical music program and is featured frequently on the concert series, Sacred Music in a Sacred Space. Her signature Organ Plus! recitals, which demonstrate the versatility of the organ with various combinations of instruments, have become audience favorites. In addition to performances at St. Ignatius Loyola, she has brought Organ Plus! to many other venues. Continuing her active performance career, in the spring of 2009, she was one of two organists with the New York Philharmonic for Music Director Lorin Maazel's farewell concerts of the Benjamin Britten War Requiem. Among America's preeminent choral accompanists, Ms. Parrella is an Emeritus Faculty member of Westminster Choir College of Rider University, Princeton, NJ, where she was accompanist and assistant director of the famed Westminster Choir and Symphonic Choir, directed by Joseph Flummerfelt. Ms. Parrella was long associated with America's pioneering choral conductor, Robert Shaw, with whom she toured and recorded in the US, France, and Brazil. She has also collaborated with noted conductors: Kurt Masur, Charles Dutoit, Lorin Maazel and the New York Philharmonic; Wolfgang Sawallisch and The Philadelphia Orchestra; Zdenek Macal and Neeme Järvi and the New Jersey Symphony; and James Bagwell and Louis Langreé in New York's Mostly Mozart ...

TRIANGLE is a video work done for the book 'Black Material' which showcases Robert Knoke's artwork.
Curator Jens Karlson asked me to make a short animation and get Robert Knoke's black and white artwork as base for video. I chosed to create tense harmony between geometrical forms and organic movements. Combustion helped me to expand possibilites of Black material with his strong music and sound design.
Thanks to Renascent, Combustion, Jens Karlson, Firat Parlak, Ipek Torun, Mert Kizilay, Omer Kasımoglu also who has voted for this video for Vimeo Awards.

Afghanistan – touch down in flight
As each of us has his own impression of Afghanistan that is predominantly marked with pictures of foreign forces, explosions and terror, we were privileged to have access to capture daily life and portrait some people of Afghanistan.
We hope the pictures you know will merge with the pictures you see and will enrich your view on the country in the Hindu Kush.
locations:
Kabul and Mazar-e Sharif
We wanted to go to other places as well but there were several incidents and security was too bad. Just one day after shooting at the blue mosque in Mazar-e Sharif a mob started from the very same place storming the UN building.
I have lived from 2006-2008 in Kabul doing my civil service for a humanitarian aid organization. This March I had the chance to go back with my fiancée to show her the place I love and to capture the beauty of this country with our cameras.
At the same time I made this as a tribute to a dear friend, who was shot in the streets of Kabul. Gayle inspired me in her love and dedication for the Afghans.
After a full summer with other work we had now the chance to do the editing.
Lisa-Maria Puy who composed the music for us was wonderful to work with. We met her on Zanzibar island and back in Germany she composed this wonderful soundtrack within just 3 days (and nights). She studied music at HfM Detmold in Germany and is a very talented artist and we hope to work with her again.
You can contact her on: puy-music[at]gmx.de
Last week the clip got published in the iPad edition of Süddeutsche-Zeitung Magazin.
I hope you enjoy and we are happy for your honest feedback.

F5 2011 RE:PLAY Film Festival. Inductance
“Happy” was the theme we were given by the organizers for this year's F5 Re:Play Fest ( http://f5fest.com ), held in April in NYC, to create this edition's pieces, probably the hardest thing to convey in any artistic expression. After a good deal of introspection, and teaming up with awesome motion graphics artist Gerardo del Hierro, we decided that happy wasn't happy for Physalia unless pliers, microchips and a bit of soldering were involved, and with this idea we resolved to create the happiest machine Physalia has built to date.

A Night at the Music Center: Heissler Organ Series Isabelle Demers
www.youtube.com About St.Petersburg College: In 1927, St. Petersburg College (then known as St. Petersburg Junior College) became Florida's first private, non-profit, two-year school of higher learning located in downtown St. Petersburg. Full accreditation followed in 1931 and in 1948 SPC became a public college. In June 2001, SPJC officially became St. Petersburg College when Florida's governor signed legislation making it the first community college in Florida to offer four-year degrees. On Dec. 11, 2001, the college received the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools' accreditation to offer courses leading to bachelor's degrees. In 2002, St. Petersburg College began offering courses leading to bachelor's degrees in Education, Nursing and Technology Management. The college's commitment to its two-year curriculum, which has earned it wide recognition and annually wins it high national rankings, remains as strong as ever. Today, SPC has eight learning sites throughout Pinellas County and recently became the first college in Florida to offer a four-year degree in Dental Hygiene. This program's offerings augment its two-year program, which has been in operation since 1963. SPC added four-year degrees in Veterinary Technology, Public Safety Administration and Orthotics and Prosthetics in 2005. College Accreditation St. Petersburg College is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award associates degrees and to ...
