Blue-Eyed Soul
Blue-Eyed Soul
This is a video spotlighting music from the "blue-eyed soul" genre. There was lots of great soul music done by artists that weren't African-American, and I have some great rare, hard-to-find, & lesser known songs from this genre here, ENJOY!!!

New Generation of Blue eye soul Singers(female).
New Generation of Blue eye soul Singers(female).
For those not familiar with the term, "Blue-Eyed Soul" is an expression that was created in the 1960s to describe white singers with "black" voices who sing R&B and Soul music. And no, not all the artists actually have blue eyes. (In fact, most don't.) Blue-Eyed Soul made a comeback in 2007, thanks to new albums by singers like Joss Stone, christina Aguilera Robin Thicke and Amy Winehouse. Although the trend has faded since the end of 2007, there's still plenty of great singers upholding the tradition of Blue-Eyed Soul music. Here's a list of my top 5 recommended female artists.

Wilco-"Blue Eyed Soul" from "AM"
Wilco-"Blue Eyed Soul" from "AM"
AM is the debut album of Wilco, released on March 28, 1995. The album was released only months after the breakup of Uncle Tupelo. Prior to the release of the album, there was debate about whether the album would be better than the debut album of Son Volt, the new band of former Uncle Tupelo lead singer Jay Farrar. Uncle Tupelo's last album, Anodyne, featured a new lineup for the band — a five-piece outfit with drummer Ken Coomer, bassist John Stirratt, and multi-instrumentalist Max Johnston. Tensions mounted between singers Jay Farrar and Jeff Tweedy, and Uncle Tupelo played its last concert on May 1, 1994 at Mississippi Nights in St. Louis, Missouri. The concert included the two singers providing lead vocals on an equal amount of songs. Only days after the breakup, Tweedy decided to form a new group. He was able to retain the lineup of Uncle Tupelo sans Farrar, and rechristened the band Wilco. Jeff Tweedy was preoccupied with trying to establish Wilco as a viable band and decided to add another guitarist. Brian Henneman, the lead singer for The Bottle Rockets, was brought into the recording sessions as a lead guitarist. Steel guitarist Lloyd Maines and bassist Daniel Corrigan also contributed to the album. Henneman had to leave the band shortly after recording the album, and was replaced by former Titanic Love Affair guitarist Jay Bennett. Tweedy also attempted to create a more collaborative environment than Uncle Tupelo, requesting songwriting contributions from other ...

Carl Douglas Band featuring Biddu - Blue Eyed Soul
No deception intended, this track is clearly (by duration) not the one shown on this 1974 Carl Douglas LP (though having just watched my own Vid it may not be so clear LOL) But anyway I don't remember how I came into possession of this track, which I only have electronically as an MP3, and I don't know it's specific disk of origin, nor could I find anything at the time of posting this Vid on the Internet, so rather than nothing I posted this image with the MP3 :) If anybody has any ideas or views please let me know? . . . . . .

NO COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT INTENDED - (Cameo 401) Out of New York, this 1966 Spectoresque, 'Wall Of Sound' release by The Blue Eyed Soul is in reality, Billy Vera with background vocals by The Cookies. This is the first version of this tune. A West Coast version by Bobby Freeman, also in the Phil Spector style, would be released a few months later in the summer of 1966. The Spontanes - Where Did I Go Wrong (United Artists)
The Spontanes - Where Did I Go Wrong (United Artists)
Absolutely top blue eyed soul tune, played by a band from Gastonia NC. The sound fits perfectly with what later was named "beach music". I particularly love the instrumentation, a surrounding organ flooding your ears from the very start, the cool "tex-mex" horns riff that will appear here and there for the whole song and the groovy drum break near the end. James Bates, guitar and singer and band leader by that time penned the song. Other band members were his brother JayDee on guitar, Ronnie Bailey on drums, Ronnie Gittens on organ and trumpet and Ernie Hawkins on horns. It was released on United Artists back in 1968, producer by their manager Claude Bailey. Don't miss out the other side, a very cool cover of "ain't no big thing" also in my channel!

60's Blue-eyed Soul ! The Classmen - Doin' Me Right
One of the label variations..........you can see this has "Classic" on the label but it's identical in every other way to the Pearce 5823 release. 1st release was Pearce #5818. I'm guessing this is a 3rd press, unless released at the same time as Pearce 5823?
