Vocoder
Dr. Presson demonstrates this futuristic device from the '70s. EDIT: a lot of people have written in asking what exactly my vocoder setup is. Well that's your classic Roland SVC-350, and I'm using a Kurzweil K2600 with the basic jar-of-wasps analog brass sound as the driver. The vocal mic has no pre-processing whatsoever, I just plugged it directly into the vocoder.

Kraftwerk
Robots of Kraftwerk Kraftwerk (pronounced [ˈkʁaftvɛɐk], German for "power station") is a German musical group which has made significant contributions to the development of experimental and electronic music. The band was founded by Ralf Hütter and Florian Schneider-Esleben in 1970, but became widely known as a quartet consisting of Wolfgang Flür and Karl Bartos alongside the founding members. The classic Kraftwerk sound combines driving electronic percussion and bass lines with catchy synthesized melodies and harmony, accompanied by simple lyrics sung through a vocoder. The sound was revolutionary for its time, and has had a lasting impact across nearly all genres of modern popular music. The band celebrated its 35th anniversary in 2005, and continues to tour.

Voice Box - Video by Jack Conte - Vocal Harmony Machine/ Vocoder
www.ehx.com Visit EHX.com for user videos, our blog, community fourms, and lots more! For more Voice Box product info, see www.ehx.com The Voice Box packs a multi-functional vocal synth processor into a tough and compact chassis. Sing, and you'll have a troupe of backup singers following you in perfect harmony. Or use the built-in vocoder to unleash classic synth-robot sounds. Diana Ross had the Supremes, Brian Wilson had the Beach Boys, Kraftwerk had The Robots. You have the Voice Box. Studio-quality reverb lets you independently add depth to your dry and harmony vocals. The focused 256-band articulate vocoder, designed by the same EMS genius who made vocoding famous, features adjustable harmonic enhancement and controllable formant shift. Plug in your mic and your instrument, and let your new voice -- or voices -- be heard! * Harmonically matches any electric instrument you plug into it * Professional quality pitch shifting algorithm produces realistic harmonies * The Low & High Harmony independently produces two harmony notes: 3rd and 5th * 9 accessible programmable presets * Natural Glissando * Gender Bender knob allows for male/female formant modification * Built-In Mic Pre with Phantom Power & Gain Switch * Balanced XLR Line Output: Interface directly with any mixing board or A/D converter * US96DC-200BI power supply included

Roland SVC-350 11 Band Analog Vocoder Demo
Quick demo showing the basic features of this awesome vocoder. I use an unfiltered saw wave from a Roland Juno 60 as carrier signal and my voice and TR-808 as modulator signals. Intro includes Fantom X6. Be sure to add &fmt;=18 at end of URL to hear stereo sound, since this vocoder has a stereo ensemble effect. Be sure to subscribe to my channel for updates.

EMS Vocoder What Is It? EMS 2000
Here is how an analog vocoder works. I am not going to use technical "jibberish" so I will speak normal vocabulary. This is the legendary EMS Vocoder 2000 (from 1977) which soundwise compares against Sennheiser, Moog(Bode), Synton, Roland, Korg. I will give a basic demonstration on how to use a vocoder and how a vocoder functions to give it that "robotic" sound. I used an Oberheim OB-8 Keyboard to trigger the pitch on the vocoder

Razor Robot Vocoder Funk Pt.1
This is a recording I made for the purpose of showing Roger my vocoder. It is the same vocoder as on Stay Vocoder. The only difference is this sound came from a DX7. I recorded this 2 years before his death. I gave a cassette of it to the Harding family who are cousins to the Troutmans. I was informed that Terry Troutman burned a CD of it to take with them as they travel. The Hardings passed on his thanks to me..:) Razor Robot is what I will call the voice of this vocoder from now on..because it is so chillen cold at times I just play it back instead of working on it more.:( Pt.2 has the trademark Slam pitch bends and high notes in it..I hope you like both of these films..:)

Let me know what you think! Please leave a comment and/or hit the 'like' button......
Thanx for watching! Hope you enjoyed it.
Song title : Wet
Alternative title : Money for nothing 2011 Remix
Music (remix): SaBo-FX
Video (edit) : SaBo-FX
Original soundtrack by : Dire Straits - Money For Nothing (1988)
More info original : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Money_for_Nothing_%28song%29
Models:
Nephael, Eugenia Diordiychuk (WOW she's HOT!), Veronica LaVery
Guest appearances:
Tiffany Selby, Kimberly Phillips (back side only), Jessika Alaura
Recommendations:
Listen to the music on either a headphone or some big ass speakers (to fully enjoy the baseline).
Watch the video in 1080p for the ultimate audiovisual experience!
Music Background info:
The original tracked was apparently banned from Canadian radio stations from Januari to August 2011 for the reason of insulting the gay community with some parts of the lyrics. When this ban was lifted, it was news on the Dutch radio. This is why the song came under my attention while taking a shower.
I especially like the guitar part which you will also find remixed into my version. Furthermore I borrowed a sample of the main chorus:
"Now look at them yo-yo's that's the way you do it
You play the guitar on the MTV
That ain't workin' that's the way you do it
Money for nothin' and your chicks for free"
However the quality of the sample was crap, so I used a vocoder to beef it up.
And to be honest, I like my version of the chorus better than the original.
Song Title:
Wet is better. What more can I say? Because a dry **** is not helping anybody.
Technical Video Background info:
I'm using the experience from my previous videos to increase the relation between my music and the graphics. But more (timed) effects cause a heavy load on my hardware. As a result it takes over 6 damn hours to render the 3.5 minutes of 'Wet' video you're watching. In total it cost me about 200 hours of slaving behind my keyboard to slice the pr0n. I think it's time to purchase a new PC.
Credits / disclaimer:
First of all, let me credit Playboy for providing the high quality footage in this video! I'm pretty sure that the video plays a large role in introducing my music to a worldwide audience. For several reasons, I had to cut out most the 'cracks and nipples' from the original footage. The original footage from Playboy was kinkier. But I simply don't need a lawsuit from Playboy. So don't let me stop you from downloading the uncensored video from the playboy website. This requires a paid subscription. (just so you know). The dancing girl featured in my video is Nephael from France. Big thanks to all who have contributed to this video!

Music Background info:
This song is loosely based on Alan Parson's Project's Sirius. I 'm quite happy how the vocoder samples worked out.
Video Background info:
My logo at the beginning of this video is a simple example of what can be achieved with the new Adobe After Effects CS6 ray tracer (without any additional plugins). It's finally possible to add depth to text. Another great improvement is how AE CS6 caches video data to disk in the background. All in all great upgrade! For this video I spend a lot of time on the timing. I hope you like the result.

52 Reason / Record Tips - Week 16: How to Hook Up and Use A Vocoder
More info on Reason: www.propellerheads.se PLEASE NOTE: Record as a product is discontinued but all of it's features are included in Reason 6 and above. Anything showed using Record can be used in Reason 6 and above. When James goes out to give Reason presentations and demos, he gets one question more often than anything else: "How do I hook up this very cool Vocoder that makes no sound when I try to use it?" Vocoders are neat but they don't work the way we're used to synths working at first glance. There are no oscillators or LFOs... there are instead Carriers and Modulators... bands... and other weirdness. But this week James breaks it all down simply and he'll have you getting in touch with your inner-robot in no time!
