Sakarya University (Turkish: Sakarya Üniversitesi), frequently referred to simply as SAU, is a public research university located in Sakarya, Turkey.

Considered one of the largest universities in Turkey with its more than 85.000 students, Sakarya University has very high research activity and its comprehensive graduate program offers doctoral degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Humanities, as well as professional degrees in business, medicine, law, nursing, social work and dentistry. It hosts five different institutes: Educational Sciences, Natural Sciences, Health Sciences, Social Sciences, and Middle East Institute.

In Turkey, Sakarya University is the first and only state university receiving the ISO-2002 Quality Certificate and "the EFQM Excellence Quality Certificate of Competency Level".

History

The nucleus of Sakarya University, whose mission is to educate individuals by all kinds of equipment modern civilization requires, has been formed by School of Engineering and Architecture founded in 1970 affiliated with Istanbul Technical University. This school has turned into the State Academy of Engineering and Architecture in 1971 and served as a faculty from 1982 to 1992.

Necip Fazıl Kısakürek

Ahmet Necip Fāzıl Kısakürek (May 26, 1904 – May 25, 1983) was a Turkish poet, novelist, playwright, and anti-semitic activist. He is also known simply by his initials NFK. He was noticed by the French philosopher Henri Bergson, who later became his teacher and Al-Ghazali, a Muslim theologian, jurist and mystic.

In his own words, he was born in "a huge mansion in Çemberlitaş, on one of the streets descending towards Sultanahmet" in 1904. His father was Abdülbaki Fazıl Bey who held several posts including deputy judge in Bursa, public prosecuter in Gebze and finally, judge in Kadıköy. His mother was an emigree from Crete. He was raised at the Çemberlitaş mansion of his paternal grandfather Kısakürekzade Mehmet Hilmi Efendi of Maraş; he was named after his great-grandfather Ahmet Necib, as well as his father, Fazıl.

Necib Fazıl learned to read and write from his grandfather at the age of five. He studied in many schools during his primary education, including the French School in Gedikpaşa, Robert College of Istanbul, as well as the Naval School. He received religious courses from Ahmed Hamdi of Akseki and science courses from Yahya Kemal at the Naval School but he was actually influenced by İbrahim Aşkî, whom he defined to have "penetrated into deep and private areas in many inner and outer sciences from literature and philosophy to mathematics and physics". İbrahim Aşkî provided his first contact with Sufism even at a "plan of skin over skin". "After completing candidate and combat classes" of Naval School, Kısakürek entered the Philosophy Department of Darülfünûn and graduated from there (1921–1924). One of his closest friends in philosophy was Hasan Ali Yücel.

Uğur Işılak

Ugur Isilak (born 15 November 1971, Neviges, Germany) is a Turkish musician, a composer and politician.

With the general elections in Turkey, which was held on 7 June 2015, he became a member of 25th term of the Turkish Parliament for Istanbul Province of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party).

Early years

He completed his primary, secondary and high school education in Germany. After that he began to live in İstanbul.

He graduated from Konya/ Selçuk University’s Literature Faculty. His hometown is Şereflikoçhisar, Ankara.

He has begun to his musical life as a professional musician since 1987.

He has gone in for more than a thousand cultural and art activities in Turkey, Europe, America, Australia and Central Asia for almost 30 years.

He made more than 20 records (albums).

Among these, there are very important and special albums which were compiled and composed from important Turkish poets like Necip Fazıl Kısakürek, Mehmet Akif Ersoy, Kanuni Sultan Süleyman ( Süleyman the Magnificent) and Yavuz Sultan Selim. These poets (which includes Ottoman Empires) are in Turkey’s 1000 years literature history.He was granted many awards for his cultural studies.
