Strawbs - Part of the union 1973
Strawbs - Part of the union 1973 Now I'm a union man Amazed at what I am I say what I think That the company stinks Yes I'm a union man. When we meet in the local hall I'll be voting with them all With a hell of a shout It's out brothers out And the rise of the factory's fall. Oh you don't get me I'm part of the union You don't get me I'm part of the union You don't get me I'm part of the union Till the day I die, till the day I die. As a union man I'm wise To the lies of the company spies And I don't get fooled By the factory rules 'Cause I always read between the lines. And I always get my way If I strike for higher pay When I show my card To the Scotland Yard This what I say. Oh you don't get me I'm part of the union You don't get me I'm part of the union You don't get me I'm part of the union Till the day I die, till the day I die. Before the union did appear My life was half as clear Now I've got the power To the working hour And every other day of the year. So though I'm a working man I can ruin the government's plan Though I'm not too hard The sight of my card Makes me some kind of superman. Oh you don't get me I'm part of the union You don't get me I'm part of the union You don't get me I'm part of the union Till the day I die, till the day I die.

The Sweet - The Ballroom Blitz 1973
Are you ready Steve? Uh-huh Andy? Yeah Mick? Okay Alright fellas - let's go! Oh it's been getting so hard Living with the things you do to me My dreams are getting so strange I'd like to tell you everything I see Oh and see a man at the back as a matter of fact His eyes are as red as the sun And the girl in the corner let no one ignore her Cause she thinks she's the passionate one Oh Yeah! It was like lightning Everybody was frightning And the music was soothing And they all started grooving CHORUS Yeah, Yeah, Yeah-Yeah-Yeah And the man in the back said everyone attack And it turned into a ballroom blitz And the girl in the corner said boy I want to warn you It'll turn into a ballroom blitz Ballroom blitz, ballroom blitz, ballroom blitz, ballroom blitz Oh reaching out for something Touching nothing's all I ever do Oh I softly call you over When you appear there's nothing left of you And the man in the back is ready to crack As he raises his hands to the sky And the girl in the corner is everyone's mourner She could kill you with a wink of her eye Oh Yeah! It was electric So perfectly hectic And the band started leaving Cause they all stopped breathing CHORUS Repeat Guitar Solo Oh Yeah! It was like lightning Everybody was frightning And the music was soothing And they all started grooving CHORUS Repeat It's it's a ballroom blitz It's it's a ballroom blitz It's it's a ballroom blitz Yeah, it's a ballroom blitz

Fela Kuti "Gentleman" (1973)
From his 1973 album "Gentleman". The late great Fela Anikulapo Kuti, (15 October 1938 - 2 August 1997), real name Olufela Olusegun Oludotun Ransome-Kuti, the pioneer of Afrobeat music. A Nigerian multi-instrumentalist musician and composer, human rights activist, and political maverick. Regarding his name change. He was known as Fela Ransome-Kuti until about 1978, when he renamed himself Fela Anikulapo Kuti, the middle name meaning 'he who carries death in his pouch'. He was a human-rights revolutionary who started his own political party, Movement Of The People, to protest the kleptocracy in Nigeria. He had his own compound called the Kalakuta Republic, in Lagos, which he declared independent from Nigeria, where he and his uncountable number of wives lived, and were constantly terrorized by the government. His influence on funk and African music is unsurpassed with approximately 77 albums. The musical style performed by Fela Kuti is called Afrobeat, which is essentially a fusion of jazz, funk, psychedelic rock, and traditional African chants and rhythms. It is characterized by having African-style percussion, vocals, and musical structure, along with jazzy, funky horn sections. The endless groove is also used, in which a base rhythm of drums, shekere, muted guitar, and bass guitar are repeated throughout the song. His band was notable for featuring two baritone saxophones, whereas most groups using this instrument only use one. This is a common technique in African and ...

This is a personal project that would not have been possible without the support of the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service. Thanks to the entire team for their generous access during training exercises and patrols this Summer. Since the Service began in 1973, it has carried out more than 21,000 missions ranging from urgent patient transfers to dangerous search and rescue missions.
This film is 100% 'real', but there are some new techniques for me here, such as using time lapse to create the illusion of forward movement for the helicopter ocean scenes. These flight sequences would not be possible without the skill and patience of Chief Pilot Peter Yates. Thanks also to Trevor Cracknell (for getting wet!) and Family.

GOLEM
***HD fullscreen, earphones and a few minutes of silence recommended***
Film by Patrick Mccue & Tobias Wiesner
The movie is based on the short story “GOLEM XIV” of “Imaginary Magnitude” by Stanislaw Lem from 1973.
The book is written from the perspective of a military A.I. computer who obtains consciousness, moving towards personal technological singularity with growing intelligence.
It starts to refuse military support because it detects a basic lacking of internal logical consistency of war.
GOLEM gives several lectures with focus on mankind's position in the process of evolution and the possible biological and intellectual future of humanity before it ceases communication.
The movie tells about the first point of its "about man threefold" lecture as a reduced and simplified version while visually weaving this with GOLEM simulating human culture processes based on ideas and dynamics of freedom and curiosity, fear and security, abstraction and fiction, the lack of accessibility in face of unknowing and the need for generating meaning.

Genesis - Live in 1973
In the olden days before Peter Gabriel got his sledgehammer and before Mike hired his Mechanics - Phil Collins had long flowing hair. Here they are performing together in 1973 at Shepperton Studios. The original film is in 16mm so hardly High Def but boy what a performance! Great sound, very original and sounds as spooky today as it did back then. This piece of history was owned by my friends Dad - Bill Holbrook who sadly passed away recently. I know though that he would have loved sharing this with an audience.
