Custom Namiki Falcon Resin Fountain Pen HD
Custom Namiki Falcon Resin Fountain Pen modified by John Mottishaw. He ground the nib (14k) extra fine and added flex to it. The nib requires medium pressure. The ink is Iroshizuku Tsuki-yo Night Sky (Greenish Deep Blue) which shades wonderfully on Bristol Board. This pen is difficult to use properly. Most fountain pens are not designed to achieve the line variation seen here. If line variation is what you want, buy a dip pen. They are cheaper, stronger, and will flex more. Still set on this one? It can be found at this address: www.nibs.com Special thanks to Drexel University, Design 1.

Creating Textures in Pen & Ink with Watercolor with Claudia Nice
In this ArtistsNetwork.TV video workshop, Claudia shows you how to create a range of textural techniques such as contour lines in a smooth onion, cross-hatching on rocks, atmospheric effects with parallel lines and more. She then brings all the techniques together, taking you step by step through the painting of a dramatic seascape. In this preview Claudia demonstrates how parallel lines can push an object into the distance and flatten it out as she draws this scene with pen & ink. (Visit www.ArtistsNetwork.TV for access to the full-length 60-minutes video.)

Bob Dylan Subterranean Homesick Blues - A HAND LETTERING EXPERIENCE
IF YOU WANNA SEE ALL THE PAGES AND A LITTLE BIT OF THE PROCESS VISIT
http://www.leandrosenna.com/72810/766869/work/bob-dylans-hand-lettering-experience
I´ve been thinking for a lot of time on doing a personal project where I could get out of the computer for a little bit, and have pleasure doing something handmade. Getting back to the basics.
Inspired by Bob Dylan´s Subterranean Homesick Blues video, where he flips cards with the lyrics as the song plays, I decided to recreate those cards with handmade type. I ended up doing all the lyrics, and not just some of the words, as Dylan did.
There are 66 cards done in one month during my spare time using only pencil, black tint pens and brushes. The challenge was not to use the computer, no retouching was allowed. Getting a letter wrong meant starting the page over.
I had a lot of fun doing this project, researching, practicing and getting deeper on typography.
There are some intentional misspellings and puns on the original song video, so I tried to keep that in a certain way.
You can watch the original movie here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FKfrjk6suAQ

Jonny Quest Opening Titles
In 1964, Jonny Quest aired to rave reviews as the first, adult action/adventure cartoon in prime time. It had cool jazz music by Hoyt Curtin and terrific, high contrast pen and ink design work by Doug Wildey. As an animator and long time JQ junkie, I had always wanted a set of Jonny Quest action figures but, due to high production costs, the show only lasted one season; not long enough to spawn any kind of serious toys or other merchandising tie-ins. So, almost 50 years later, I made my own. Here is my Valentine to one of the coolest, if not THE coolest, cartoons ever to spin up the imagination of a 53 year old man now going on six. Enjoy!
NEWS!!!!! Check out my KickStarter project for a complete JQ episode!

Follow up to the award winning 'Blokes'. A mixture of hand rotoscoped and 3D elements created in Photoshop, Cinema 4D, After Effects & the odd scrap of paper.
A bit about the poem from Mat Lloyd:
"I wrote the poem on a canvas with a marker pen the morning after I was attacked.
The night before I was in my local park on the opening day of the skate park I'd helped get built, it was nearly midnight. We'd organised a DJ to play the day out in a marquee and I just popped out to take a leak. In my drunken state I was stumbling to find a bush when I heard, and felt, a sort of 'boink' sound. I knew I'd been hit on the back of the head, and I knew it wasn't with a fist. I don't remember much else other than being back at the marquee with a bleeding head.
I was very lucky as a number of my friends and other revelers had spotted me being kicked on the floor and ran over to drag me out. For that I am very grateful.
Living near London, the poem has never been retired and still appears in my performance sets. With youth violence seemingly growing year on year, the poem is as relevant now as it was when I wrote it. People blame hip hop culture, movies, video games, parents, the education system, unemployment, the list goes on. I don't have the answer.
The saddest thing about "2 Inches to the Right" is all to often, someone from the crowd comes to speak to me after I leave the stage and tells me of their friend who died in a similar situation. The poem gives them hope that some may listen, and think twice." - Mat Lloyd

Conductive Silver Ink from a Ballpoint Pen
Materials researchers at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign have developed a highly conductive silver ink. In this video, Analisa Russo, a graduate student in the research group of Professor Jennifer Lewis shows exactly how to make this amazing ink, which could be used for a wide variety of hobby projects and in advanced electronics hardware.

Artrage Tutorial Ink Pen Overview
Check out Bas Rutten's Liver Shot on MMA Surge: bit.ly Uses of the Ink Pen Tool The ink pen is very similar to a permanent marker in the way you can use it mark drawings in ArtRage. It's very customizable and is often used to ink creations like the one pictured. ArtRage makes it very simple to play with the different settings and presets. The ink pen allows many different options and is like having a drawer full of art pens in one program. Using the Presets There are four main presets in the ink pen tool of ArtRage. * Smoothing: This tool is often used to write cursive or stylized script. * Technical: This makes a thinner, lumpier line that doesn't smooth out as much. * Thick and thin: This changes width depending on whether you go left or right or up and down. * Chisel: This is similar to the first tool and is used to smooth off writing. Using the Settings There are several main settings that can also be used in addition to the presets. The pressure and aspect tools can be used to change the flow of the pen from lighter to darker. The taper tool gives a tapered start and finish to the lines you draw and can prove useful when it comes to drawing things like scars. Smoothing and opacity change how well the line is defined, while rotation is something that is mainly used with the changing of the other options. Read more by visiting our page at: www.mahalo.com
