The Weeknd

Abęl Makkonen Tesfaye (born 16 February 1990), known professionally by his stage name The Weeknd (pronounced "the weekend"), is a Canadian singer, songwriter and record producer. In late 2010, Tesfaye anonymously uploaded several songs to YouTube under the name "The Weeknd". He released three nine-track mixtapes throughout 2011: House of Balloons, Thursday and Echoes of Silence, which were critically acclaimed. The following year, he released a compilation album Trilogy, thirty tracks consisting of remastered versions of the mixtape material and three additional songs. It was released under Republic Records and his own label XO.

In 2013, he released his debut studio album Kiss Land, which was supported by the singles "Kiss Land" and "Live For". His second album, Beauty Behind the Madness, which became his first number one album on the Billboard 200, included the top-five single "Earned It" and produced the number-one singles "The Hills" and "Can't Feel My Face". The songs have simultaneously held the top three spots on the Billboard Hot R&B Songs chart, making him the first artist in history to achieve this.

Crew Love

"Crew Love" is a song by Canadian recording artist Drake from his second studio album Take Care. The song features guest vocals from fellow Canadian singer The Weeknd. Production was provided by The Weeknd, Noah "40" Shebib and Illangelo. "Crew Love" was released as the album's seventh single in the United Kingdom on July 30, 2012.

Critical reception

Jon Dolan of Rolling Stone described the track as "avant-R&B lushness" and "a tender ode to metaphorical family in the face of a world where everybody wants a little Drake."

Chart performance

"Crew Love" debuted at number 200 on the UK Singles Chart for the chart week of July 14, 2012. It entered the top 100 of the chart two weeks later at number 64, later peaking at number 37. The track also became a top ten hit on the UK R&B Chart, where it peaked at number seven.

Despite the absence of a proper single release in the United States, "Crew Love" managed to chart on several Billboard singles charts owing to strong rhythmic and urban contemporary radio airplay. It peaked at number nine on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart in June 2012, becoming Drake's twenty-fourth top ten single on the chart. The song also peaked at number 14 on the Hot Rap Songs chart and at number 80 on both the main Hot 100 singles chart (which was his lowest peak as a lead artist) and the Canadian Hot 100.

Love

Love is a variety of different feelings, states, and attitudes that ranges from interpersonal affection ("I love my mother") to pleasure ("I loved that meal"). It can refer to an emotion of a strong attraction and personal attachment. It can also be a virtue representing human kindness, compassion, and affection—"the unselfish loyal and benevolent concern for the good of another". It may also describe compassionate and affectionate actions towards other humans, one's self or animals.

Non-Western traditions have also distinguished variants or symbioses of these states. This diversity of uses and meanings combined with the complexity of the feelings involved makes love unusually difficult to consistently define, compared to other emotional states.

Love in its various forms acts as a major facilitator of interpersonal relationships and, owing to its central psychological importance, is one of the most common themes in the creative arts.

Love may be understood as a function to keep human beings together against menaces and to facilitate the continuation of the species.

Crew

A crew is a body or a class of people who work at a common activity, generally in a structured or hierarchical organization. A location in which a crew works is called a crewyard or a workyard. The word has nautical resonances: the tasks involved in operating a ship, particularly a sailing ship, providing numerous specialities within a ship's crew, often organised with a chain of command. Traditional nautical usage strongly distinguishes officers from crew, though the two groups combined form the ship's company. Members of a crew are often referred to by the title Crewman.

Crew also refers to the sport of rowing, where teams row competitively in racing shells.

Crew is used colloquially to refer to a small, tight-knit group of friends or associates engaged in criminal activity. Also used in reference to the traditional "unit" of criminals under the supervision of a caporegime in the American Mafia. However, the term is not specific to (Mafia-affiliated) organized crime. Crew can also refer simply to a group of friends, unrelated to crime or violence.
