Really? You mean the govt forced the Lehmans, AIGs, and Bear Sterns of the world to use accounting gimmickry to hide the true state of their finances (not to mention Enron, Aurther Anderson, Worldcomm)? Or the banks to hand out sub prime mortgages to people they knew could not or would not pay them back? The firm belief in the infalliability of the private sector led to the Great Depression. It has also caused the Great Recession.

now, if we want to be really optimistic, we could be hopeful that the voices that he represents at least have the platform

Obama kept them going. Meaning, his original statement, both parties are so similar, that it really is crazy to think that one party is much better than the other.

Another point, the Auto bailout, was designed by Bush, then signed by Obama. Yet, Republicans attack Obama for doing so . . . yet endorsed Bush he was drafting it.

People can have whatever feelings they wish (even if they are racist). But Paul is nothing more then an apologist for the worst kinds of discrimination. What is next? Back to Jim Crow? Denying non-whites the right eat at the same lunch counters as whites? In Paul’s wacky little world only the govt is evil, everyone else is a little angle, lol what a joke…

Umm NDAA and the Patriot Act were both Republican ideas. Even Drone Strikes were started under Bush.

Why was he against it? He’s for Liberty, and he felt that the act infringed on people’s Liberty. People have a right to be racist, no matter how repulsive racism is. Although the act was well intentioned, Ron Paul saw fault with it. Side note, I think the Civil Rights Act was a good thing, but I’m defending Ron Paul because if you’re going to bash him, at least be informed. He’s not racist. He’s a Constitutionist.

If you believe someone can do better than this man then you are obviously clueless. I mean come on, look at those who voted Obama in for a 2nd!!! term…..FEMA, N.D.A.A, resigning of Patriot Act, Drone strikes. Just cause you’re alive doesnt mean you’re woken up.

FDR’s death and the change in policies were major factors, but there’s no denying that the U.S. had the only completely intact industrial base after the war and factories with newly excess production. There was another economic dip after the war due to demobilization of troops, but the path was open. I read so much about how the New Deal read to the 1950s “golden age,” but the New Deal had little to do with it, rather lack of meaningful economic competition as a fluke.
