Montségur is a commune in the Ariège department in southwestern France.
It is famous for its fortification, the Château de Montségur, that was built on the "pog" (mountain) on the ruins of one of the last strongholds of the Cathars. The present fortress on the site, though described as one of the "Cathar castles," is actually of a later period. It has been listed as a historic site by the French Ministry of Culture since 1862.
The earliest signs of settlement in the area date back to the time of the Neanderthals, around 80,000 years ago.
Evidence of Roman occupation such as Roman currency and tools have also been found in and around the site. The name "Montségur" comes from Latin mons securus ("safe hill") which evolved into mont ségur in Occitan.
In the Middle Ages the Montségur region was ruled by the Counts of Toulouse, the Viscounts of Carcassonne and finally the Counts of Foix. In 1243–44, at the end of the Albigensian Crusade, the Cathars (a religious sect considered heretical by the Catholic Church) who had sought refuge at the Montségur fortress were besieged by 10,000 troops, in what is now known as the siege of Montségur. In March 1244, the Cathars finally surrendered and approximately 220 were burned en masse in a bonfire at the foot of the pog when they refused to renounce their faith. Some 25 actually took the ultimate Cathar vow of consolamentum perfecti in the two weeks before the final surrender.
At the Gates is a Swedish death metal band from Gothenburg, and a major progenitor of the Gothenburg sound
Initially active from 1990 to 1996, the band reformed in 2007 for a reunion tour before breaking up once again in 2008. However, they reformed for a second time in December 2010, and have since continued to perform live. The band released At War with Reality, their first album in 19 years, in late 2014.
At the Gates were formed in 1990 by former members of the death/black metal band Grotesque. They recorded a debut EP, Gardens of Grief, for the Dolores record label, and sold cassettes, vinyl, and XL T-shirts to promote the recording. The EP led seminal metal label Peaceville Records to sign the band, and they released their debut full-length album, The Red in the Sky Is Ours.
After the recording of their second studio album, With Fear I Kiss the Burning Darkness, founding member and guitarist Alf Svensson left the band in 1993 to pursue tattoo artistry, comic illustration and his solo electronic-opera-black metal project Oxiplegatz. He was soon replaced by former House of Usher guitarist Martin Larsson, who the band knew from their early tours. The band continued touring Europe, and were filmed for a Headbangers Ball special featuring a tour date in the United Kingdom in July 1994.
Lyrics!!! I stand alone in this desolate space. In death they are truly alive. Massacred innocence, evil took place. The angels were burning inside. Centuries later I wonder why. What secret that they took to their grave. Still burning heretics under our skies. Religion still burning inside. At the gates and the walls of Montségur. Blood on the stones of the citadel. At the gates and the walls of Montségur. Blood on the stones of the citadel. At the gates and the walls of Montségur. Blood on the stones of the citadel. At the gates and the walls of Montségur. Blood on the stones of the citadel. As we kill them all so god will know his own. The innocents died for the pope on his throne. Catholic greed and its paranoid zeal. Curse of the grail and the blood of the cross. ...
The castle on the video is not the same as Cathars at this time, it was a fortified village. After Cathars eradication, a new castle was built by the king of France. It's this one that we can see nowadays. Parrot Bebop 2, iPhone6 & MadCatz c.t.r.l.i Music : Audiomachine - Warland's fury January 2016 - #23 - Robin Icare
UP THE IRONS!!!!!
Montsegur, a castle rebuild by the cathar community in 1206, and was taken by the roman church and the French army in 1244.The knights and soldiers who defended the cathars were free to go, and yet, some of them turned to this christian, gnostic believe, at the very last moment, knowing what the outcome would be. In total 225 men and women from Montsegur were burned on an open field at the base of the "pog" now known as "platz del cremats". Why? Because they did'nt want to give up there free, gnostic believes and re-enter the roman church. This is so we will never forget. Never forget who they were, what ideals they stood for and, at the end, died for. The little stele at the base of the pog of Montsegur put it into beautiful words: "Als catars, als martirs del pur amor crestian. 16 Ma...
Two of the three famous arches are seen from the town, the Porte d'Aval, and the Porte d'Amont. The Manneporte is the third and the biggest one, and cannot be seen from ...
Wish I had a place where I could dweep
They say that I'm an isolated creep

So sincere
Wish she was here
Monday is queer
What it shakes my knee
Here's a strange disease
Won't you help me please
Wish I had a place where I could dweep
They say that I'm an embryonic dweep
